[CA11] GPS Sentences required by ST4000+ ?
This question will likely require some knowledge of the firmware running on the ST4000+ processor.
I am trying to understand which of protocol "sentences" are used, needed, and ignored by the ST4000+ at the NMEA(+/-) inputs which go to the optoisolator level-shifter on processor board.
========================================
The manual states: The following NMEA 0183 wind and navigation data can be decoded by the ST4000 Plus.
========================================
Course Over Ground VTG, RMC, RMA
Speed Over Ground VTG, RMC, RMA
Cross Track Error APB, APA, RMB, XTE
Bearing to Waypoint APB, BWR, BWC, RMB
Distance to Waypoint BWR, BWC, RMB
Waypoint Number APB, APA, BWR, BWC, RMB
Apparent Wind Speed VWR, MWV
Apparent Wind Angle VWR, MWV
Speed Through Water VHW
Depth DBT
Water Temperature MTW
========================================
The GPS device I have supplies GPRMC, GPVTC, and others not listed as decodable such as GPGGA, GSA, GSV and GLL.
Question#1: Will the ST4000 Plus be able to parse the data for $GPRMC and $GPVTG and ignore (no errors) the others not listed as decodable from my GPS receiver (GPGGA, GSA, GSV and GLL)?
Question#2: If "Course Over Ground VTG, RMC, RMA" is listed with these three formats in the manual, does the ST4000+ need all three or even two? Will it work using RMC and VTG only, which is what my GPS reciever will supply in the NMEA 0183 format running at 4800 baud, 8 data, 1 stop, no parity, no handshake?
I hope I've been clear. Let me know if I can give additional detail.
Thanks -Dave

[LW11] I70s and axiom7 half second beepy noise and screen
Dear support team,
Yesterday I did a 7h regatta on a starry night and the life on board was very pleasant with admitedly too little wind to make things really interesting...
Unfortunately the noise of the gentle wake was constantly disturbed by the I70s every 30 seconds or so as it was complaining with a loud beep... and a screen which I couldn't read on board (too fast) but since I took a short video was able to figure out afterward.
I could determine it was due an a intermittant gps fix issue which always lasts less than a second and disappears without human intervention
The axiom is placed at the highest point of my sail boat with only a 1 cm fiberglass-foam-fiblerglass sandwich above it. (please see pictures) and the axiom itself isn't complaining a bit and works pretty well.
But for some reason the I70s makes those very annoying beepy complaints and I couldn't find an option to disable the sound or the screen to appear.
If you follow this link bellow you'll be able to see the screen at about 7 seconds in the video.
and a few picture of the axiom installation.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/Lhc1EQ7vqoKb6iMM7
Looking forward for your answer.
p.s.: I had a usb stick in the port with logging constantly enabled if needed I can look if I have a log file.

LightHouse 3.10.42 upgrade install
Trying to upgrade my 12" Axiom to latest version, in order to fix all the spontaneous reboots that has occurred after installing v.3.9 in spring.
I find it very troublesome to upgrade to latest version to say the least. I have tried from various SD cards, formatted as Fat32 and NTSF. I have downloaded using wifi, but same result. I always end up with this message.
None of the options in the recovery screen solves the issue.
Any ideas how I can move forward?

[LW11] ST 6000 pilot
Hi
I have an type 2 pilots with a 300 course computer and a ST6000 controller.
After switching on the pilot , the controller start as normal in standby but within a minute is says no Link and the clutch engage locking the steering .
I check the data cables to the computer and there don't seen to be any fault,
Removing the data cable from the controller and switching on the pilot still engage the clutch .
I disconnect all other instruments data cables and still the clutch engages and controller says no link .
By removing the clutch wires from the course computer the steering becomes free again .
I tested the clutch by putting 12v to it and it engage, removing the 12v and it disengage.
I tested the motor by connecting it to 12v and it works find , reverse the wires and it works the other .
Is there any other test I can do before replacing the course computer?
Any other suggestion?
Would a S3G course computer be compatible with my system?
Thanks

[LW11] suggestion on waypoints management
Hi I recently have an axiom 9 with 3.10.42 sw version.
I think that the way how the waypoints are managed is cumbersome and I'd like to suggest a different and more efficient management.
It shoul be useful to differenciate between waypoints and markers.
Markers should be used to fix some specific positions, such as good anchoring or good fishing points or any other relevant position. and markers could be organized in groups (Not the waypoints)
Waypoints shoud be strictly linked to specific routes: any routes has their specific waypoints, so when I hide a route the waypoint are automatically hidden. Moreover, being a so specific link between waypoints and routes, the waypoints, related to a specific route, can be numered simply starting by number 1. Waypoint of another route
will be numered as well starting from 1, because there are not possibility of confusion being linked each group to a specific route.
In this way, it will be also avoided to have all waypoints numered globally.
I have right now waypoints identified with number 451 and more in the future.
Moreover ther is no need to display on screen the written "waypoint 451", but simply starting from number 1 for each route. Easier to be displayied.
With the actual management, the procedure is: create a route, group the waypoints with a specific name, and when I need to recall another route, I have to hide not only the route but also the group related to that route, avoiding to have long denominations that covers other details on the screen.

[CA11] Radar Cable Cut - Reconnect?
When un-stepping the mast, the guys in the marina cut the radar cable, claiming they could not find any other way to disconnect it.
How do I reconnect the two ends? Is there a plug / connector that can be used, so that it can be easily disconnected and reconnected again, or do I use a terminal block or something else?
Can you recommend instructional videos on how to splice the various wires in the cable?

[LW11] ST70 Directly Powered
Hi
I have an ST70, A70D and a mix of Seatalk and NMEA.
I won't go into massive detail as it is complicated, so very simply, can I use one of the STNG sockets on the ST70 to power the STNG network or will this damage the ST70?
(There is power coming in from a number of other sources and everything is well protected. I just need to try a configuration change to iron out some NMEA issues.)

[CA11] Intermittent no fix
I have a GPS 130 interfaced with a gS165. The system is five years old. I have not had any problems until two days ago, when the "no fix" message came up on the screen about six times in the space of 10 minutes. Each time the fix came back within 15 seconds or so.
This happened about an hour from our home port after running for four hours. After that, I had no problems for the last hour of the trip.
When I started to close up the boat, I noticed that the battery fault light was on and that the house battery voltage was quite low: 10.4v. Again, I have never seen this before. Perhaps I have an alternator issue?
When I plugged into shore power, the voltage started to come back up and eventually got to and remains at the normal level of around 13 v.
I checked all connections inside the boat and everything seems nice and tight.
Questions:
1. Is the intermittent "no fix" message an indication of something starting to fail?
2. Is it possible that the low voltage (battery fault) caused the gps to lose the signals from the satellites?

[CA11] Speed and Distance Trails / Logs
I am trying to set up a screen on our HT ES127 for Speed and Distance Logs. Configuring the custom data screens is really easy, but is there a hard button that I could push to start / stop / reset the data without having to go into the menu and hitting reset? Is there a better way to do multiple trips, with and against the current, to capture the same data in a Log? We are considering changing the prop on our boat and wanted to get some solid data first before shopping. Thanks in advance.

[CA11] Interfacing Axiom Pro, Type 100 Course Computer
Attached is a proposed diagram for my system upgrade. I am confused about how not to form a communication loop between the Seatalk bus, NMEA0183 and the Axiom Pro. Objectively, I am trying to maintain functionality of the autopilot if the Axiom Pro is turned off or instrumentation communication if the autopilot is disabled. Questions:
1. I am fine with initiating Track mode from the autopilot head. Should the autopilot be interfaced directly to the Axiom Pro via NMEA 0183 or is that a problem and/or unnecessary?
2. Can the ST60+ wind instrument function as a repeater and if so, do you recommend connection of the wind sensor to it or the ITC-5?
3. (different subject) can I connecdt my P319 sensor, previously for the dms300, with the Axiom Pro?

[CA11] Intermittent No Pilot / No heading
Context:
Axiom 7, EV100 and associated autopilot purchased February.
Symptoms: Intermittent "No Pilot" Turned into permanent "No Pilot"
Current Efforts: I have dissasembled every SeatalkNG connector and reassembled. When removing the blue terminators, the system comes back online. All components are up to date according to their self reported version in the About:System and the axiom screen. (After i get them back online.)
::
I decided to go through with the ohm testing of the seatalk NG network.... I found some intermittent readings and opted to purchase a new 5 way and two new blue terminators.
After replacing them, I am now good to go, but the no heading alarm is popping intermittently and from the Axiom the communications appears to be intermittent.
Again, all software is at current state according to the axiom 7, and individual assets match according to their version numbers through the p70.

[CA11] LH 3 on es98
I have had some issues with the touch screen on my eS98 for awhile (months) now. I had seen some mention that software can impact touch screen performance so I did an update to LH3 from LH2 today. As part of the update I did do a factory reset. There are still issues.
Overall, the touch function seems to work, but consistently the find ship button does NOT. This was also the case with LH2. I also find that the menu (three horizontal lines) touch button never works. The physical button does work, and from there I can also "find ship".
Back in LH2 when a menu was called the << did not work. The X did work. Not sure where this issue lies with the new LH3 install.
The attached screen shot shows some of my issues.
A never works.
B is a [censored] shoot intermittent success.
C Almost never works.
D Is this the item that is supposed to slide out or back by a touch sideways on the screen? Not sure how I got it to display, but a sideways swipe does NOT work. Nice function if it could be used.
I did do a screen alignment in LH2, but cannot find that function in LH3.
Lastly, I did make a couple of videos of the problems but since they are large, I'll give you links to my google drive as follows:
