Hello,

GPS antena Raystar 150 recently installed replacing a Raystar 125. New RS 150 installation includes a kit conversor SeaTalk to SeaTalk NG. New GPS cabling connected to existing SeaTalk network including 2x E80 MFD displays.

Everythink OK except for 2 issues:
a. The GPS Status page in the menu will not display GPS satellite status information, only HDOP.
b. The time displayed at Local Time window is always UTC even when I change summer or winter time hours at "Date & Time" page in the general adjustments menu.

Please advise what to do to solve a. and b.

Thank you, Alberto

[LW11] Wind speed data is 0.0 after installing V3.10.42

After (to day) installing V3.10.42 on my Axion 9, the Wind Speed (TWS, AWS) is showing 0.0 all time. The Wind transducer is rotating. (E22078)
Wind angle is OK according to the wind direction.

It is connected to ITC-5 with SW version V1.12 and I70s with SW version 3.16.

The Airmar DST 800 is connected to the ITC-5

I have tried to switch off the Axiom 9 and 2 of the 3 i70s with no result. The problem is still there.

ITC-5 LED for wind is ON (no pulsing) as well as the LOG. The Log is working as well as the Depth and Temp.

Shall I go back to V3.10.39 - will it help? (Version 3.10.39 worked OK) and how can I do the downgrade?- I always update directly from the internet.

Please see my connections (attached)

[LW11] i70S w. elbow spur connector, space requirement?

I am considering installing a i70S display in a location where the space depthwise for the spur connector + cable is very limited. It might still be possible by using the elbow spur cable A06042.
I would be grateful if someone could tell me the minimum space requirement for this combination, i.e. the necessary distance in mm between the surface of the instrument pod and the 'back wall'.
Kind regards

[LW11] screen polarisation, polarised glasses and water droplets

$

Dear All,

I am usually wearing polarised glasses when sailing to reduce the water reflection. It's what works best for me.
Now the problem is that often when the boat is heeling more than 20° if I keep my heads on my shoulders the axiom screen becomes unreadable on one take... The other tack is fine.

Any workaround? beside the obvious don't wear polarised glasses?
Why chose a 45° polarised display in the first place? is there a way to depolarise or circle polarise the light coming out of the screen?

Also another problem I am facing when sailing is that water droplets from waves or rain seem to trig arbitrary random inputs to my screen. Any hint on how to prevent that?

Thank you in advance.

[CA11] iTC-5 rudder angle compatability

I have a 2002 motor vessel that was originally equipped with Raymarine ST60 SeaTalk1 electronics and Type 400G (S3)/ST7001+ autopilot. Most electronics have now been updated to NMEA 2000. Only the wind sensor, LifeTag, and autopilot SeaTalk1 components remain. I have used Raymarine iTC-5 and SeaTalk1 to SeaTalkNG converter to successfully pass the wind sensor data to the NMEA 2000 bus. (The SeaTalk1/SeaTalkNG converter is inserted in the NMEA 2000 bus via SeaTalkNG to NMEA 2000 cables.) However I am not having any success passing the rudder angle data to the NMEA 2000 bus. The iTC-5 rudder LED indicates no connection for the M81105 rudder angle transducer when the leads are properly connected to the iTC-5. However when the rudder angle transducer is connected to the Type 400G course computer the rudder angle is properly displayed on the ST7001+ autopilot control unit display. I have tested for both continuity and shorts in the leads. I have connected the rudder angle transducer leads both directly to the iTC-5 and in parallel with the 400G course computer. In all cases the rudder angle is properly displayed on the ST7001+ while the rudder LED on the iTC-5 continues to slowly flash indicating no connection.
The i70s Instrument Installation & Operation Instructions (81364-1) pp. 103 indicates that the M81105 rudder reference is compatible with SeaTalkNG when connected using an iTC-5. So why is the iTC-5 not recognizing the rudder angle connection?

[LW11] ST1 STNG integration How many is to many ?.

Hi

Need a little help to fully understand best way to integrate new to the boat hardware, into my old set up. Been reading forum posts and I am unsure how many ST1 is to many for it to work and how best to over come the/any issue.

Diagram shows proposed set up. I am aware that the ST1 StNG converter has limit to how many ST 1 units it can run effectively, 4?.

37ft sailing boat.

So my question are.

Q1 How many ST1 units will the ST1 StNG converter run?

Q2 How long can the run be in lenght ?

Q3 If more Converters are needed, which is the best place to add them into the loop.

Q4 Alternative set up completely?

Q5. Any problems with the power supply on the diagram?

Q6. Any other points which will help make this work?

Any help or guidance is much appreciated

[CA11] Electronics update on Sailboat.

$

I would like to update the electronics on an older sailboat. The boat currently has the following installed

-ST50 wind instrument - mounted on port side of cockpit
-ST50 Speed instrument - mounted on port side of cockpit
-ST60 depth instrument - mounted on port side of cockpit

There are 2 through hull transducers:

-Airmar temp/speed ST800-PS21-INSR
-Depth transducer - appears to be same generation as speed and temp but I cant find a part number

I'd like to install a Axiom 9 at the steering pedestal and have it display the data from the transducers and also have that data available on the existing cockpit instruments. Is there a way to have the Axiom consume the data from the existing instruments/transducers?

Thx...

[CA11] Building a new system with Radar Overlay, AIS etc

$

Hi there I'm wanting to put in a new system in my fishing boat. I have basically decided on an Axiom 12 with Real downvision, a Quantum 2 radar dome for doppler radar.

When you fish for Salmon at 3 mph, it is very important that you can see all the small boats coming at you at similar slow speeds, often we can have 20 boats within a kilometer radius. That's one of the reasons why I want Radar overlay over the chart.

Now my questions are:
* Besides the Axiom and quantum 2 (plan to use WIFI) units, what else do I need to get?
* I was planning and hoping to use a Ray73 VHF (or similar) over NMEA 2000 to get the AIS (and distress GPS signal setup over NMEA 2000).
* I guess I need a heading sensor? Ev-1 or similar, would prefer to do it all over NMEA 2000 for simplicity.
* Plus cabling and device net spurs, terminators etc
* Main question: with all this stuff in place trolling at 2-3 mph, will I get radar overlay over the chart?

I'm sure this has been asked before, I'm sorry I couldn't find it here in the forum.

Thank you

[CA11] E120 Sirius Weather

I have a classic E120 MFD on my 2006 Hunter 41DS sailboat. I have a SR150 weather receiver. I get some data, but not all and am told by Sirius it is due to Raymarine no longer supporting the E120.

What MFD would be a good replacement for the E120 that would still successfully interact with my ST speed, depth, wind, autopilot instrumentation?

how do i get my fuel tank level displayed on my Raymarine Axiom MFD and 2019 Yamaha 70 hp?

So, I have a command link hub connected to my F70 Yamaha 70 hp outboard and Axiom MFD using NMEA 2000 network.

I think I need some kind of digital fuel sensor to stick into my gas tank and connect to NMEA 2000 T-connector.

Please help.

Thanks.

Fuel Tank Level vs Estimated Fuel Remaining ... which should be used?

Fuel Tank Level vs Estimated Fuel Remaining ... which should be used?

Prior to the introduction of the Fuel Manager feature within LightHouse II and LightHouse 3 software, fuel quantity could be monitored by a MFD if

- a NMEA 2000 tank level sensor(s) had been installed within the vessel's fuel tank(s), and

- the NMEA 2000 tank level sensor(s) had been interfaced to the marine electronics system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, and

- the NMEA 2000 tank level sensor(s) had been properly configured with respect to Instance ID and Fluid Type, and

- the NMEA 2000 tank level sensor(s) had been been properly calibrated.

Prior to the introduction of support for calibration of Oceanic Systems NMEA 2000 tank level sensors, such calibration required that additional hardware and possibly that a computer be utilized to configure and calibrate NMEA 2000 tank level sensors. However, when using the Oceanic Systems NMEA 2000 tank level sensors identified within the Calibrating tanks section of Chapter 5.11: Settings of the LightHouse 3.10 Advanced Operation Instructions, the MFD running LightHouse 3 v3.10 or later software may be used to calibrate Oceanic Systems NMEA 2000 tank level sensors. Other NMEA 2000 tank level sensors must be calibrated in the manner specified by the manufacturer of the sensors.

The advent of the Fuel Manager feature within LightHouse II, LightHouse 3 software, and i70/i70S software, MFDs and i70/i70S MFIDs are capable of monitoring or calculating trip fuel usage, which in turn could track total fuel remaining within the vessel's tanks. This feature is the preferred fuel monitoring feature within smaller vessels where NMEA 2000 tanks level sensors have not been installed and may not be desired due to cost or other concerns. In order to utilize this feature, the engine system must be capable of monitoring fuel consumption rate and must be interfaced to the marine electronics system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Alternatively, properly instanced and calibrated NMEA 0183 fuel flow sensor(s) may be interfaced to the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone to supply it with fuel consumption data. With such data, the MFD or MFID can calculate and display estimated fuel remaining, total fuel flow rate, economy, distance to empty, time to empty, seasonal fuel use, trip fuel use, etc. Depending upon the device, the Dashboard / Data application and/or Databoxes may be customized to display these fuel related data items. Further details concerning the Fuel Manager feature and Dashboard/Data application/page customization may be found within the latest LightHouse II, LightHouse 3, or i70S operations guide.

[CA11] Axiom/LHIII Feature requests

$

Hi,
I recently updated to Axioms from E120s and have a few feature requests that have yet to be implemented. I think all of these have been requested so this is as much an add me to the list, lots of demand request.
1. Night Mode-This is a safety issue. Dimming makes a lot of details illegible, having the display bright enough to make out details kills night vision.
2. Fish alarm- Super useful
3. Ruler- Also very very useful when plotting out anchoring, distances, etc.

Overall I really like the units but the lack of these previously supported features are making things harder, and in one case unsafe.

Thanks in advance!
Ben
