Hello,

We have a costumer that has two E80 MFD connected to a DSM 300 sonar module throught a E55058 SThs switch, can we change the DSM 300 by a CP 100 sonar module? Is the CP 100 compatible with E classic series MFD?

Thanks for your answer,

Martin

annoying waypoint alarm

Hi I have multiple MFD's at two locations two C120 classics and a ES78.
They are interfaced together and connected to my auto pilot. If I am following a route on my ES78 as I approach a way point the waypoint arrival alarm sounds on all three displays. I can turn off the alarms at the upper helm (C120 and ES78) as that is where I am , but the lower helm is not practical to turn off the alarm. Is there any way to stop the alarm from occurring? Thanks

I have just updated the SW and now I have no DSM info. I get the NO DATA SOURCE now. Everything was displaying proper prior to the MFD update. I have also updated the DSM as well. I have done the factory reset both while holding the first soft key and using the power button, and the factory reset thru the menu button.

I have also verified the green status light on the DSM with a steady blink every approx. 7 seconds.

I am scratching my every growing forehead a this point.

Hi Chuck, Just received my cables ST1 Adapter cable 3-pin and Hummingbird AS HHGPS. I've been told I have to cut/splice the 2 ends together ? I've bared the wires on the ST1 adapter cable and see
1 yellow , 1 red and a ground or bare wire no insulation, the Hummingbird cable has 2 leads coming from the com plug 1 marked accy-com the other marked NEMA-com I'm guessing I'll cut the NEMA-com plug off ? Appears to have 4 wires looking at end of plug 4 contacts, is there a wiring diagram or could you tell me witch colored wires to hook up to what?
Thank you Ray

The back lighting for the buttons only illuminate while the unit is first turned on and spooling up. Once the screen saying to push "OK" comes on the back lighting of the buttons go out. The same thing happens while shutting down the buttons will illuminate for a few seconds during shutdown.
I looked and I cannot find any set up features in the menu.

Any ideas?

I have a Type 2 hydraulic linear drive (81200) that I purchased back in 2005. I am finally finishing the install and need to mount the reservoir and noticed that the fluid level sticker has fallen off the reservoir. How many inches from the bottom of the reservoir should the max line be, so I know where to reattach the sticker?

Thanks!

ax7 series MFD alternate transducers

Looking for more detailed info on what "older style" depth transducers the a67 can be directly connected to, presumably using the E66066 adapter cable, or other converter.
Have several sailboats using ST50/ST60 Depth display units, with their existing flush mount thru-hull depth transducers, all installed in the 1990's. I apologize for not knowing the existing transducer model numbers (yet) but hope this can be a more general thread for the ax7 series MFDs interfacing to older existing depth transducers.

connecting a78 to NMEA network

I have a a78 and it's connected to a Seatalk ng converter. I'd like to get the engine date from my Evinrude E-Tec displayed on the MFD. Will the following work: a Raymarine SeaTalk NG Backbone Cable to the converter(blue) to a Raymarine SeaTalk NG T-Piece Connector with a terminator and then Raymarine SeaTalk NG To NMEA 2K Male Adapter Cable to the NMEA network from the engine.
Thanks

ST6002 Autopilot failure "no pilot seatalk failure" alarm

My RS130 GPS failed this week and an alarm on my ST6002 autopilot screen showed "No Pilot Seatalk Failure". The LED on the GPS antenna showed a red and orange alternating blinking LED, not the normal green blinking LED. Upon further investigation I found the S1G course computer, which is mounted under the helm, had broken loose and the S1G PCB was dangling by it's connection wires. I checked all of the connections and none were compromised so I remounted the S1G and turned the system on again only to find the same "seatalk failure" alarm. I then disconnected the auto pilot from the seatalk circuit by disconnecting the seatalk connecting wires off the S1G and unplugging the seatalk connector from the ST6002 control head and booted the system up again to find the GPS and everything else working fine but with no autopilot. I assume the S1G on course computer is the problem but am unsure on how to confirm this. Does anyone know of any tests that could be performed on the S1G computer to confirm it's operation? Are there any voltage, resistance, etc. tests that could be performed on the S1G to prove it has failed? Any input would be appreciated.

Dodge Mode with p70r autopilot

I recently installed and sea trialed my new p70r / EV-1 autopilot system. I am used to a very old Raymarine autopilot (used the ST5000 head with fluxgate compass) which had a "dodge mode" feature. In this feature if the autopilot was steering in track mode to an obstacle, the skipper could input a degree deviation, e.g. 10 degrees starboard or whatnot, and the course would deviate accordingly and then return to the course. The pilot would remain in track mode the entire time.

It appears with the p70r that if you use the knob to deviate from an object, that the pilot leaves track mode and reverts to "auto" mode (i.e. it simply follows the magnetic heading) until you manual command it back into track mode to continue following the course waypoints. Oddly, the p70r manual appears to make no real mention of "dodge mode." Am I understanding operation correctly?

The unit functions perfectly but I do want to understand the above, as here in Southern California there is a plethora of lobster traps, buoys, not to mention ships that require frequent course deviations when following a multi-waypoint route.

Thanks.

AIS 650 with Plotter E80

Hello my name is Federico Katzenstein, and I´m from Uruguay. I going to US next month and want to buy a Raymarine AIS650.
In my boat I have a Raymarine E80 multifunction display (plotter) with VHF RAY240E.

Is it better to use the VHF antenna that I have in the boat now or is better to use an antenna only for the AIS (with a splitter)?

I want to know what else I need to buy to connect the AIS650 (wires, plugs, antenna VHF?, etc), since the boat is in a city in Brasil where I don´t have anything of those accessories.

Also I want to know if the AIS650 is compatible with newer raymarine plotters.

If I want to change my E80 plotter wich one you recommend me , compatible with the other things I have in the boat:

Packs: Electronic Pack 2006, ST60 Tridata Wind, ST6001 autopilot hydraulic +
Wireless SeaTalk autopilot remote controll - Smartcontroller Kabellose,
Radar 18´´Radome Mast Bracket, radiotelefon RAY240E Klasse D-DSC
Dark Grey,
Raymarine E80 Multifunktiondisplay (Netzwerk) + NAV Navionics Platinium Card,
Digitale HD Soundermodule DSM300 + Bronz HI-PER B258

Some SR100 weather features not working while others are working

If having issues with some of supported SR100 weather features not working while others are found to be working, the problem may be rooted in low satellite signal strength (check the signal strength indication specified within the upper right hand corner of the Weather application's titlebar) or failure to have updated the SR100 with the latest software. The latest SR100 software update also added support fo Sirius Satellite Radio. Please additionally note that the marine zone forecast feature is dependent upon the vessel being in the marine zone or the Weather application being commanded to provide the forecast at the cursor's position. Please note that this feature is also dependent upon the marine zone boundaries which have been hard coded into the MFD's software. Please note that NOAA has changed the boundaries of several marine zones since software updates for the E-Series Classic MFDs wer retired. Correspondingly, the MFD may be report that it is unable to access marine zone forecasts for some marine zones.

The latest and final software release for the SR100 is version SDR200707152118 released in January 2008.

Upgrading the SR100 using a E-Series Display Unit
The SR100 software can be upgraded through a connection to an E-Series display. The upgrade requires a blank CompactFlash card and a CompactFlash reader/writer.
To complete the software upgrade you must have all of the following parts:
• Any E-Series Multifunction Navigation Display (E80 or E120)
• SeaTalk High Speed Network Cable (These are available in four lengths)
o E55049 (1.5 meters)
o E55050 (5 meters)
o E55051 (10 meters)
o E55052 (20 meters)
The cables are available through any Authorized Raymarine Dealer. In North America the cables can be ordered directly from Raymarine Customer Service by calling 603-881-5200 ext. 2333
• A San Disk brand Compact Flash (CF) memory card (32MB - 256MB)
• A Compact Flash reader/writer
• A Microsoft Windows or Macintosh computer
• E-Series v4.29 and SR100 Upgrade SDR200707152118 available from the
Raymarine.com dealer area.
Upgrade Instructions:
1. Download the attached WinZip file. Extract the contents of the WinZip file to the root level directory of the Compact Flash memory card.
2. This step intentionally left blank
3. Power off both the E-Series display and the SR100.
4. Connect the E-Series display to the SR100 via the SeaTalkhs cable. If you SR100 and ESeries are already installed and connected to the SeaTalkhs Network Switch, you do not
need to disconnect them.
5. Insert the CF card into the E-Series card reader. Power the display on.
6. The status LED on the SR100 must be blinking amber or green. Sirius antenna does not have to be connected to perform upgrade.
7. Use the E-Series track pad to highlight the file named “SR100 v1.1” in the left column.
8. Press the Upgrade Remote Unit soft key.
9. Press the Upgrade Remote Unit on “Ethernet” soft key. The Upgrade progress bar appears.
10. The progress bar will begin updating. If they do not begin updating within 30 seconds, check:
a. that the correct software revision was selected.
b. that the SR50/SR100 weather receiver is powered ON and status LED is flashing.
c. that the display/weather receiver data cable connection is intact.
11. When the update process is complete, remove the CF card from the card reader slot.
12. Press the CLEAR key one time, and then Press the REBOOT soft key. Your display will restart automatically. Your SR100 weather receiver system and display are now ready for normal operation. For full details of how to operate your SR100 Weather and Audio Application refer to the E-Series Multifunction Display handbook. A copy of this manual is available from the E80 and E120 product pages http://www.raymarine.com.

Confirming a Successful Upgrade
Beyond normal operation, successful upgrade to the SR100 can be confirmed through the E-Series’ on-board diagnostic features.
• Restart both the E-Series display and the SR100 by switching them off, then on.
• On the E-series press MENU, and then select SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS.
• Select EXTERNAL INTERFACES, then SIRIUS WEATHER.
• On the second line of the RX Status window, the “SDR Software Version” should read SDR200707152118
• Press CLEAR several times to exit the menus.

GPS not Working on ES178 and ES129 today

Have a 128 and 127 networked together. Powered up this am before leaving OB for ACT and worked for a couple of minutes then Lat and long coordinates started changing rapidly then no gps. The 128 is master and I changed that to 127. Occasionally, like every 2 or 3 hours satellites Are found and it works for a few. Minutes then gradually each sat is lost. I unplugged the network cable going into the 127 and tried to operate independently as Raymarine tech had said not to connect Sea Talk cable between them already.

Need some help figuring this out as I am on vacation in Nantucket and will be going back to Rhode Island mid next week. Thanks.

Rigging a new boat

I've been using another brand for some time now with what I consider marginal results. Obviously the side scan function on the unit didn't have enough power output to get a real good picture of what was in the water - along with the screen being almost too dark to see. Anyway, I'm getting a new boat in the fall and looking at Ray Marine MF displays.

My fishing style is to troll along looking for groups of fish, marking them and then running back over them with the trolling motor and hope to get some strikes. What I would like to do is to have a Side Imager/Chartplotter on the console to navigate and watch for groups of fish, marking them on the chart plotter to go back to. On the front of the boat, I"d like to have a Down Imager/Chartplotter for slower boat movement moving from target to target. I"m looking at the eS displays with the transducer to the Side Imager on the transom and the transducer for the Down Imager on the trolling motor.

So here are my questions:

1. Does the eS series MFDs require the CP100 and/or CP200 in order to function as a fish finder?
2. Can two eS series MFDs be networked together whereby you can target locations on one and it will write the target on the other one as well?
3. Instead of using the internal GPS antenna for each unit, can a single puck be used to provide GPS to both units? In other words, can a single puck output be split to two displays? A puck mounted between the two MFDs would preferable for accuracy's sake.

Thanks

Anyone got any advice?

Commissioning S3G and Type 2 Hydraulic Linear Drive

$

I have an older S3G Course Computer and a Type 2 Hydraulic Linear Drive. In the Commissioning manual there is a section on setting the drive type. There are 3 drive types; Type 3 (Linear, Rotary, I/O), Type 4 (Hydraulic reversing pump), and Type 5 (Constant running hydraulic pumps).

I'm thinking my Type 2 Hydraulic Linear Drive falls under the category of Type 3 as it is a linear drive. Is this correct?

Are there any other common mistakes or questions people have during the commissioning process of these older units?

Thanks!
