Hello,

I have subscribed to Sirius wx and audio..I am using the SR50
with the C80 mfd. I can received the audio channels but I am not receiving all of the subscribed channels. I have had Sirius rehit my unit several times but no change. I have mad sure that I should be receiving these channels in my package, other wise the satellite radio works fine. I live in Canada.
As far as the weather, I can find my ship in the wx application,
I get a high signal in the wx application. I have turned on Nowrad and almost all of the functions.
I get no marine forecasts, no wind etc, nothing on the wx.
The boxes just come up empty.
I try animation and nothing.
Hope you can help.

Replacing s2 with ev-200

I have 2 e80 displays, DSM300 and HD Radome (connected to HS switch). I have a Remote, 2 Depth units (40 maybe?) and one ST6000 AP heaad. GPS was replaced by prior owner and I have no idea where it is interfaced (suspect spliced into a ST connection to one of the e80). Would like to reuse the AP head and the Remote - may do w/o Depth as DSM is cranky about displaying the digits for depth (even after returning for "the fix"). My questions:

I have an NMEA 2000 bus that has AIS and depth and would like to incorporate those and disconnect the DSM (has separate transducer connected to it). Is there a way to do this and still utilize some of these older ST devices (I seem to recall that was an issue in the past)?

I have 2000 to my flybridge station, can I connect a small NG backbone to that with the EVO-1, e80 and p70 head - thus using the 2000 to bridge down to the ev-2000 and the second e80 (and possibly the remote and the old AP head)?

Lastly, I ordered the ev-200 "sail" because I prefer the p70 to the p70r. I am connecting to the existing type 1 pump. There isn't any reason not to go this way for my 8 knot trawler is there?

What type of fluid is recommended for use with my autopilot's hydraulic pump

Raymarine has made no recommendations regarding the specifications of the hydraulic fluid which should be used with its autopilot hydraulic drive units. Instead, Raymarine recommends that that the steering system be maintained with hydraulic steering fluid which adheres to the specifications of the vessel's hydraulic helm pump and steering ram.

Issues with ST70 AP

I recently bought a 2010 powerboat with a Raymarine package that in general is very nice. I have noticed two problems however with the AP ever since I took possession.

1. When using the track function, the AP makes very wide excursions before settling down on a heading. Once it does settle down, it performs great. This makes the track function unsafe to initiate if in any type of restricted waterway or near shore. My prior RM AP (ST8001) on my sailboat never had this problem. I have tried adjusting sensitivity which has no effect on this behavior.

2. The ST70 will only display Magnetic heading. I have changed the units to "True" on the ST70 but it still only display magnetic.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

C97 Unicontrol knob erratic behavior

Hello,

I have a C97 MFD and the Unicontrol knobs behavior is erratic, when you turn the knob left or right to adjust settings it jumps all over the place.

For example, if i turn it to the left to decrease gain it will decrease a few levels and then start increasing. It is nearly impossible to decrease any significant amount because you if your lucky enough to go down 10 levels the next turn of the knob to the left will increase the gain all the way to max.

This behavior is consistent across any function you attempt. I'm at a loss as to how to resolve this?

E120 and Seatalk NG Alarm

I have a E120 (Classic) MFD interfaced to a Maretron Engine monitoring system (EMS100) using NMEA 2000/ SeaTalkNG. The E120 has SW Version 5.69. At low engine speeds while in gear, I get occasional Engine (SeaTalk) alarms on the E120. There is not an engine problem, might just be the oil pressure going below alarm limit threshold.
Is there a way to disable the Seatalk alarms on the E120?
I have set the SeaTalk Alarms to ‘OFF’ in the system menu, but the alarm described above still occur.

A neighbor in the mooring field got hit by lightning. After turning on my instruments I found the depth is the only thing not working. I just have three dashes showing.
How can I diagnose this problem, in the display or sounder?
Thanks, Dennis

Hello - I have read some conflicting advice about locating the EV Sensor on a sailboat. Does it matter if the unit is placed forward or aft of the keel?
Thanks for your advice,

Depth instrument reporting -.- at all times

$

In order for a depth instrument to report depth, the boat must be located in water and the depth of the water below the transducer must be at least 3' deep. Should this condition be met, then the root cause of failure of the instrument to report depth may be rooted in the transducer, depth pod (if any), iTC-5 Analog Instrument Converter (if any), or within the instrument itself. This problem is commonly fault isolated in the field by testing the transducer with a digital transducer test set or more commonly by testing the depth instrument, depth pod (if any), or iTC-5 (if any) with a compatible instrument depth transducer which has been suspended over the side of the boat or resting atop a ZipLock bag which has filled within the water and has been positioned in the bilge (the hull must be constructed of solid fiberglass (i.e. no core material) which is less than 1" thick in the testing location. Similarly, the depht instrument, depth pod (if any), or iTC-5 (if any) may be tested with a depth sounder test set. Alternatively, the instrument display, pod, or iTC-5 may be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench tested/serviced. Should the depth instrument display be able to report depth in conjunction with the test depth transducer, then the problem would be corrected by replacing the currently installed instrument depth transducer.

Mercruiser to E80 Classic wiring?

I am attempting to add digital read out of my two Merc 2007 496 Mag engines. I have a 2007 Formula 34 PC with dual Mercs. I'd like to read RPM, Fuel Flow, etc at my E80 Classic display. Attached are the components I've put together to do so. Right now, the Starboard Engine displays under the Port Engine on the Twin Engine display panel, and the Port Engine doesn't register at all. When I went to my local Merc repair shop, I thought they had correctly set the engines for port/starboard. They also mentioned there's four positions -- inner and outer for each of port/starboard. To what engine position should the engines be set? Any other thoughts why this isn't reading correctly?
Thanks!
Rick

GRIB files from phone to es98 MFD

$

Hi,
Currently subscribed to PocketGrib via android phone. I download the GRIB files with the app to my phone microSD card. Have an es98 MFD with V17.

Questions:
Once the GRIB files are downloaded via phone app to the microSD card, can I then take the card from the phone and place it into the MFD card slot (which one, the chart or data microSD card) and transfer the GRIB files to the MFD?

Seems like it would be best to place it into the chart slot (1 or top slot) and hope it copies to the data card (2 or bottom slot). When I replace the chart sd card into the MFD slot, will all the GRIB data then display?

So, if it is possible to transfer GRIB info from my phone microSD card to the MFD, please describe steps on how it's done without messing up our charts or data.

Thank you,

I have finally installed the network and instrument. Went through the set up process on the i70 and all seemed fine. But it is not reporting speed. In fact, there are no numerals at all shown for speed. What am I missing?

Upgrade Compatibility From E-Serie Classic

I am thinking of upgrading the MFD on my 2007 Carver 41CMY. The engines are twin d6-370 Volvo diesels with EVC displays at the helm. (single helm) All electronics are original when purchased new so 2006-2007 model year

I am really liking the new ES series and wifi capability however I am worried that most everything will not work unless I change everything which will not be cost effective in the end.

Presently I have the following.

E-Series Classic 8”
ST 70 (2 units)
ST60 Depth
ST 8002 SmartPilot controller
SmartController
Radar RD424 4KW 24" Radome

Please tell me what works and what does not IF I want to go with a new es-series 9” MFD and how to approach this.

Also, is there any conversion device for Volvo EVC to be able to get instrumentation on the MFD.

Hello,

Are the instructions below still valid?

To follow a route from an intermediate waypoint point of the route,

1. command the Chart application to follow the desired route or reverse and follow the selected route (establishes the direction of the route)

2. command the MFD to stop following the route position the cursor over the intermediate waypoint of the route ... the cursor will be labeled WPT

3. press the OK button

4. select the FOLLOW FROM HERE option from the Waypoint context menu displayed.

I cannot get the "follow from here" option to present itself....please advise

Thank you

The DSM has been working with the E120 for around 5 yrs - never a
problem. This summer, I can't get the dsm info to the databar in the Navigation mode. Where the DSM info used to appear on the databar (labeled Local) is blank. The boat icon at the upper right of the display shows the sound waves. If I change to the Fishfinder mode, the display shows the normal DSM data and graphics.

Also can I get the gps data for my ICOM 802 SSb radio from the sea talk network with a converter?

Time/Date jumping around

I just updated my Data Master e7 from 9.4 to the current Lighthouse.

Had problems getting the SeaTalk NG to Seatalk converters to update, but finally got all the system updated, including the AIS 650 and the RS130 GPS. I am attaching screenshots and data files for some of the error messages that I see now. (apparently the forum caps the number of attachments, let me know if you need anything else)

The Time/Date does not hold - I try to set it to 12 hour UTC-4, and then it jumps around to various different settings., including 0.3 and 0.8 offsets (??).

I also tried a power on reset, and then tried selecting the Data Source with the AIS650 unplugged from the converter, all to no avail.

What do I need to do to get this to work? It was all fine and OK with the 9.4 software.

Interchangeability of Clearpulse and Downvision transducers

$

Have existing a67 MFDs (600W Sonar variant) driving E66088 (B60 12deg) hull mounted transducers.
Can a a78 MFD (Downvision variant) be connected directly to the B60?
even if there are limitations on its performance, can it be done & function without damage to either unit?
If the answer is no, what converters could be used, and what loss in performance/sonar display detail?
Lastly, are there any flush mount thru-hull transducers available that are fully compatible with the a78 or other Downvision variants?
