(DG) Question about P79 In-Hull Transducer

Hi,

I just bought a sailboat with a lot of different instruments, some of them Raymarine, which I am very glad for. Trouble is that the depth finder instrument is an old Lowrance Fishfinder, which is very unreliable. The boat are in the water now, but i would like to change the depth finder to something else.

Is it possible to use the P79 transducer with an i40 display in an old sailboat? The reason for that is that I have ST40 wind and speed instruments.

I am also considering to change my Garmin plotter to an Axiom 9, could the P79 talk to this MFD? Is that a better solution?

Maybe none of these are the optimal solutions, but I don't want to lift the boat again this summer, so I am looking for an solution that will work for this summer at least.

All the best,
Lennart

I have an older (Ratheon) ST60 and have to replace the speed sensor and thru hull.

Is the current ST800 (Part E26031, ST800 P120) compatible with the old ST60?

What are the system requirements for calculating Ground Wind?

What are the system requirements for calculating Ground Wind?

Ground Wind is sometimes referred to True Wind Relative to Ground (not to be confused with True Wind used in performance sailing (sometimes called True Relative to Boat). Each of the following data items must be populated within the system to permit calculation of the Ground Wind data items:
- Course Over Ground (supplied by a GPS sensor)
- Speed Over Ground (supplied by a GPS sensor)
- Heading
- Apparent Wind Speed
- Apparent Wind Direction

[CA] Master / Slave configuration for e125 and e9

Hello-

We have an existing setup of an e125 MFD at the nav station, coupled via SeatalkNG to a p70s autopilot head and an i70 display (both at the helm). I recently purchased an e9 MFD and would like to set it up as a slave unit at the helm so I can view the chart data from the e125 and also so I can reset a route XTE without having to go inside to the e125 MFD.

I connected the power and the white SeatalkNG cable to the new e9 unit. It powers up and receives wind data, so it apparently is getting data over the network. However, when I go to the Set Up -> Maintenance -> Data Master screen, the only MFD it sees is itself.

What do I need to do to get these two units talking to each other?

My apologies if this is covered on the CD/DVD that was sent with the unit: the CD is not able to be read off our laptop.

Cheers- Matt

My new to me e127 has a built in GPS antenna .. If I wanted to add a raystar GPS antenna ( there is one on the boat already mounted but not connected, Maybe from an older unit ???) would this antenna be wired directly into the second network port in the back of the e127 ? What is the part # of the plug ?
Am I right in assuming that the 2 network ports have the same function as the seatalk ng backbone ??

Thank you for your time .. Tony

a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs not sharing cartography, radar, fishfinder, satellite weather with one another

Within a system of a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs, it is important that each MFD within the system be running the same version of software, preferably LightHouse II v19.03. Of the system's MFDs, one of the MFDs will be interfaced to the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone should there be a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone installed onboard the boat. This MFD will then need to be designated as the system's Data Master MFD. The function of the system's Data Master MFD is to bridge data from the system's SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone to the system's Ethernet communications network from which the system's other MFDS will access this data. Cartography, radar, fishfinder, SiriusXM satellite weather/radio, IP camera, thermal camera, and Fusion 7xx Series Stereo resources are also designed to be shared between the MFD's via the system's Ethernet communications network. Depending upon the model of a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD, each MFD will feature one, two, or three Ethernet communications interfaces. Should the system's MFDs not feature a sufficient number of Ethernet communications interfaces to permit MFDs and peripherals having an Ethernet communications interface to be networked to one another, then a HS5 RayNet Network Switch(es) would need to be installed to provide the additional Ethernet interfaced required to network the products. [CA] i60 wind true vs. ground wind

My power boat needs a Ground Wind readout from the i60, but the user's manual only lists a choice between True and Apparent wind. If an i60 is connected to my SeaTalk network that is connected to a GPS and a compass via the Auto pilot, will I get Ground Wind on the "True Wind" setting?

If yes, will the Ground Wind info appear on both the i60 display and on my E Series Classic chartplotter?

Thanks.

PS: If available, do you have a screen shot of the wind info on a chartplotter?

I know have asked some of these questions before but I want to be sure I am buying what I need before the purchase.

[CA] Converting kml files to something Ray Marine reads

at the advice of a friend I used Google Earth to create a path, then saved the path file as a kml file. He says I need to convert the file to an rwf file and then I can load the files to a memory card and then upload to my Dragonfly 5.

The intent is to be able to follow a path along my Dragonfly for a trip down through the Louisiana marsh to Pierre Part. There's lots of small channels I'll have to navigate and I don't want to take the wrong turn.

Can someone help me figure out how to convert these files?

Or...if I'm unable to do what I'm trying to do...can someone help me figure out another way?

I've already downloaded GPS Babel, but not sure yet how to use the program. I'm thinking I have to convert the files before the program will work.

Hello. I purchased a S3G course computer and it has the Volvo ips software on it. I was told it is a relatively easy process to revert it back to the original software. I do not have a Volvo ips. Just a standard st4000 wheel drive.

Thanks.

Hi,

My installer just informed me that the radio portion portion of Sirius isn't working on my new vessel, but the weather is working fine. ( I have the SR150)

He stated he spoke to Raymarine support and they said a software update will fix that. Do we know when the update is due to come out? Is there a temporary solution or work around so I can listen to satellite radio on my vessel?

Thanks

[CA] Splice SeaTalk1 to SeatalkNG

HI,

Im doing restoring a network, after damages in huricane, and one of my question is, I lost seatalk to seatalkNG cnoverter cable (yellow Plug), but i should be able to splice piece of of standard STng and seatalk1 cable with plug.

i done this:

seatalk1 RED to seatalkNG RED
seatalk1 SHIELD to seatalkNG Black
seatalk1 YELLOW to seatalkNG YELLOW

SatlakNG Shield not connected
SeatalkNG Blue not connected
SeatalkNG White not connected

Such spliced cable go betwen SmartPilot Course Computer and Yellow socket on STng coverter.

In my opinion all should work, I got Power On converter block, but no data is going Between SeaTak network where is only Depth and Autopilot and SeaTalkNG.

Converter socket are:
1. Blue - Terminator
2. White - Axiom Chart plotter connected by STng-N2K cable
3. Yellow - With spliced cable like above
4. White - Actisence N2K to nmea0183- thru STng to N2k cable, NMEA0183 to Si-tex radar
5. Blue - terminator

But i dont have reading of depth on Axiom Plotter, and Axiom pointed waypoint are not transferred to course computer. Axiom pointed way point is transferred properly to Si-tex radar screen by Actisense N2k-NMEA0183 gateway.

Should such configutration should work. What could be a problem, should i splice shield from stNG cable to black and to shield on SeaTalk1?

Please Help did i miss somethink, or axiom will not comunicate that way with S3 Smartpilot??

E-120 V.5.69 software update

Chuck: I updated the software to V. 5.69 as you suggested, but I now find the navigation function does not work. The soft keys to select a way point and navigate to it are not functional. The autopilot head displays flux gate heading and the autopilot will engage, but "track" returns a "no data" message. I assume the E-120 is not putting nav data on the Sea Talk bus. Is this a fault of the software upgrade (or did I skip a step) and how do I get navigation back? Thanks again Stephen Lemon

(DG) N with a square around it

I have recently installed two Raymarine eS series MFDs. My system includes a Vesper Vision AIS that is connected to my lower eS 127 via NMEA 183. The AIS functions and displays properly. Almost every time I use this system, I have a problem where I get a square with N in the middle. There is a line connecting the box to the boat symbol, as if it is a vector. When this happens, I can no longer activate or exercise a route. The only way I have found to get rid of the box is to shut down the eS 127. I have spent hours searching thru the manual and can't find a reference to this symbol. Can you tell me what the symbol means? How I should get rid of it? And how I can keep from having this problem in the future?

MFD(s) no longer communicating with devices after SW update or reset

$

0
MFD(s) no longer communicating with SeaTalkng, SeaTalk, or NMEA 0183 devices after software update and/or Factory Reset

Executing a Factory Reset / System Settings Reset by a MFD will cause the settings of the system's MFD's settings to revert back to their default settings. Similarly, updating the software within a MFD(s) may cause cause the MFD's settings to revert to their default values. With respect to communications, incorrect configuration of the following MFD settings may adversely effect communications:

- NMEA (0183) Output Setup: recommend that all listed sentences be sentences be selected for transmission by the MFD unless you desire to block transmission of specific NMEA 0183 sentence.

- NMEA (0183) Port Setting: if a MFD has been interfaced to a NMEA 0183 talker or listener, then the NMEA 0183 port setting must be configured to match the baud rate of the NMEA 0183 talker/listener which has been interfaced to the MFD's NMEA 0183 port. Example: MFD interfaced to an AIS receiver/transceiver. In this case, the MFD's NMEA Port Setting would need to be configured to AIS 38400.

- Data Master: In systems featuring more than one MFD, care must be taken to ensure that the MFD which has been directly interfaced to the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone or to the SeaTalk bus has been configured as the Data Master MFD. Only the MFD which has been configured as the system's Data Master will support communications via its SeaTalk and SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications ports.
