[CA] Upgrade e127 to Axiom Pro - considerations

$

I am considering upgrading my existing e127 and e125 to Axiom Pro 12" MFd's. I have a couple of specific questions that I could use help with. I am basically trying to upgrade my sonar capabilities with RealVision, but keeping as much of my old system as possible.

Currently
e127 (Master) connected to HS5 Switch and to SeaTalk NG bus
e125 (slave) connected to HS5 Switch and to SeaTalk NG bus
HS5 Network Switch connected to e127, e125, RD2420, CP100, CP200
Bus SeaTalk NG connected to e127, e125, RS130, Yamaha Gateway
Radar RD2420 connected to HS5 Switch
CP100 DownVision connected to HS5 Switch
CP200 SideVision connected to HS5 Switch
Depth Transducer A80171 (P319) connected to e127
L3 Protec-M AIS connected to e125 NMEA 0183
KVH AutoComp 1000 connected to e127 NMEA 0183
iCom VHF connected to e127 NMEA 0183
GPS Receiver RS130 connected to SeaTalk NG Bus
Yamaha Gateway connected to SeaTalk NG Bus
FLIR M625L (analog) connected to video input e127 and e125
Deck Camera(analog) connected to video input e127 and e125

Am I correct by specifying an AXIOM PRO 12 RVX to replace the e127 and an AXIOM PRO 12 S to replace the e125? Using the RVX as the "master" and utilizing the RealVision from this MFD I hope to share RealVision data display to the S (slave) through a HS5 network switch.

Transducer selection: My current system is using a Raymarine A80171 (Airmar P319) for depth sounder and transom mount transducers on the CP100 and CP200. These transom xducers are problematic I want to use a through hull (aluminum hull). Is it better to use the single xducer or use a split pair (T70319) and keep the existing depth sounder? The P319 is in a flat area (0 degrees) along the centerline 12" wide. The adjacent hull area has a deadrise of 25 degrees. Will the split pair interfere with the P319 or vice versa? Does the split pair offer better resolution?

NMEA 0183 remains the same on the Axiom Pro and my Protec-M AIS, AutoComp 1000 and iCom VHF should be a straightforward connection. Correct?

SeaTalk NG remains the same on the Axiom Pro and my GPS receiver and Yamaha Engine Gateway should be a straightforward connection. Correct?

Video: Axiom Pro only has 1 analog video input but will support up to 10 ip cameras. I'll have to figure this out as I can maintain the FLIR but will have to modify the rear deck camera using a video switch or something.

Any advise or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Also, if there's something I've overlooked, please bring it to my attention. Thanks!

[CA] DSC Support in Lighthouse 3.4

I am trying to determine whether my Axiom MFD will display DSC position reports received through the StNG backbone. My Standard Horizon GX2200 is connected to a NMEA adaptor that transmits DSC information through the NMEA 2000 PGN 129808 sentence. I don't see 12908 listed on the chart of supported NMEA 2000 PGNs in the Lighthouse 3.4 Advanced Operating Instructions or any other PGN that looks to be DSC-related. However, I see in the Lighthouse Advanced Operating Instructions that there is an alarm for receipt of DSC distress messages. So, it appears that DSC information is received in some fashion. I did several searches in the forum and did not find any information on this topic. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

(DG) Mounting ACU-150

I am installing Evolution pilot with EV1 core and ACU 150 for a hydraulic system on an older Legacy 28. Instructions for the ACU say it must be installed vertically. The console bulkhead where I'd like to put the ACU has about a 15 degree aft slant. Will that be an issue or does it need to be shimmed out closer to 90 degree? Also it will be within 12" of the Yanmar instrument panel and Axiom display. Is that too close?

Mounting Autopilot Computer or ACU

The Autopilot course computer or ACU must be mounted on an accessible secure, vertical surface, meeting the requirements below:

•Install below decks in a dry area
•Mount on a vertical surface, the sides and top must be level
•Location must be at least 1m (3ft.) away from any magnetic compass
•Safe from physical damage and excessive vibration
•Away from any source of heat
•Away from any potential flammable hazard, such as fuel vapors.

In the older legacy autopilot computers the requirement was twofold, these computers contained a gyro sensor which had to be mounted on a vertical surface for optimal performance, also and in common with current ACU computers, the back cover of the housing comprised a heatsink, with cooling fins to dissipate heat, when the autopilot was working hard and for optimal performance this also needed to be vertical.

In all cases please refer to the installation handbooks which are available on the Raymarine website here and here

I want connect my speed, wind and depth transducers to an iTC-5 and then connect the iTC-5 to my ST1 network using the E22158 converter (see diagram). Will my design as depicted work or will I need an i70S added to the STNG network? Comments and suggested improvements are welcome.

[CA] Axiom GPS acting up

First I have to say I absolutely love my Axiom 9's. Have them master/slave and I just installed the cmap max n+ charts. My gps seems to be acting up and is showing me approx 50ft north of my actual position. Any suggestions? Was acting perfectly with just the Navionics (pre-intsalled) and now it affects positioning on both charts.

[CA] Networked Axiom's

Here is the set up
2 AX 9's at the helm, 1 Ax 7 at the stern, Quantum radar, & Evo 200 AP.
All 3 Ax's & radar are networked via Raynet RS5.
One of the 9's at the helm is assigned as the data master. The DM is connected to the RV100 transducer & also to the Sea-talkNG network with the AP.

Here is the issue.
The AX 7 at the stern is not able to control the AP and is not seeing the sonar. When I slide from the left side of the screen the only option is Data.
Not Data 1,2 & AP like the other 2 MFD's. However it is seeing the other MFD's when you go to settings/network.

I swapped the A7 & secondary A9 to see if it was possibly a network wire issue. The A9 was fully functional at the stern and when I moved the A7 to the helm the issue remained with that unit.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I am trying to connect the audio cable from the SR 150to the sirius port of my fusion MS-av650, but they are two different connectors. There is a pin style connector on the fusion, and the SR 150 has a female male connector. Please help. Thank you

Connecting the SR150's Audio Output socket to an entertainment system

Connecting the SR150's Audio Output socket to an entertainment system

NOTE: The SR150's Audio Cable is not intended to be interfaced to the SiriusXM cable of an entertainment system.

The SR150's Audio Output socket is designed to produce a line out analog audio signal ... similar to that of a headphone signal. Devices having line output signals are typically designed to be interfaced to the AUX IN socket / cable of the entertainment system. The SR150's Audio Cable is terminated with a female 1/8" stereo connector. This cable is designed to be connected to the AUX IN socket / leads of an entertainment system. Should the entertainment system's AUX IN socket / leads feature RCA connector, female 1/8' stereo connector, or other common audio connector, then a commonly available third party stereo audio adapter would be used to complete the interface.

[CA] Chart Orientation

I have a eS170 slaved to a C97.

I just finished the install of Auto Pilot EV400 with a S-100 Remote.

Upon commissioning, I noticed my chart orientation changed from "Course Up" to "North Up."

I changed it back to "course up" but it returned to "north up."

Why will it only accept North Up?

I checked FAQs and the instruction manual. It does not seem to describe this situation.

[CA] Ground Wind Calculation

Question is regarding i60 Wind System and E-Series Classic.

I have been asking about True Wind being available but I believe I have been confused. I am not a sailor so what I need, I believe, is Ground Wind to be calculated from the wind sensor data using my GPS information and, perhaps, Auto Pilot compass info via Seatalk.

So, will I see Ground Wind data on the i60 and chartplotter using SOG data?

Thanks.

I have a port issue with the auto pilot computer on my boat. The Serial Number is E12121. What course computers are direct replacements for it? I am finding similar older units on line including a E12091 and E12120 and E12054. Dont know which serial units will be a plug and play match as I just want to change out the course computer.

What are the pros and cons of dedicated i60 wind instrument with wind transducer connected directly to the i60 versus wind display on an i70s with wind transducer connected to iTC-5 ? Will there be any noticeable delay using the latter due to sampling rate of the iTC-5 and multiplexing of data on the STng backbone as compared to having dedicated i60 with wind transducer connected directly to the i60?

I would like to back date the firmware ver that just came out. Not happy with it. Several features that worked fine before the update no longer works. Problems with the navigation maps. If I change screams then I end up with a white screen where the map should be. Only on the first or primary screen do I get a map.

It's about a clear as mud to me about updating my c127 mfd.
Version this machine is running now is 3.15.

Need update to run a blue tooth display on my Android cell, or tablet.

Know this update can only go on a 32 gig micro SD card. After that
the instructions look conflicting. Part that worries me is ruining
my display with the line: "responsible for damage."

Please help and thanks for any assistance.

Have downloaded the version 19.3 that loaded with a lot of files after
it's unzipped. Many apply to other systems/products.

hi,

i have a raymarine autopilot on our 2003 pdq 34 powercat. it no longer runs without a good rap on the motor. there is no product label on the pump body. there is a stamped 221102 on the pump face and a 1 in the top of the pump body. the hydraulic hoses all come out of the top surface. the electric motor has a TYPE 1 label on it. this looks like my pump: http://www.raymarine.com/view/index.cfm?...9&col=6599

i have 2 questions: 1) is it safe to assume it's a type 1? 2) all the pumps i see for sale have the hydraulics exitting from the front face plate. is the configuration i have (also in the attached url) still available? if not do you sell an adapter kit?

[DG] Axiom 7 with Rv-100 transducer.

Hi everyone, I write you from Turkey. First of all I am sorry for my bad English. I have some questions for you. İf you reply with a simple language I will be very pleased. We bought a new boat and mounted it a new Axiom7 RV with RV-100 transducer. Transducer was mounted rear and bottom of the hull and right side of the propeller. As the Raymarines users manuals. Mounted by the dealer's service. I am using my device for 2 months and gone fishing 8-10 times. I liked it really. But I have some problems and don't know about that is they are can be done by settings or about mounting problems. I talked to my dealers but they couldn't help me. Even They don't know more from me.
First of all, maybe I am not right but; After I read this forum, I understood that; Axiom 7 RV is generally used in the rivers and lakes. Not for usefull in the deep seas and offshores. We fish at the sea at aproximately 250 feet (75 meters) deph. 3D sonar doesnt work properly at theese depths. Also, We have no chance to select traditional sonar/chirp sonar. Only chirp sonar without hi-med-low options. Only Hi chirp sonar. ( İf I am false please correct me) Because of these facts, I realise that ; Axiom 7 RV is more usefull in the rivers and lakes. ( is really so ? ) İs axiom 7 was a wrong selection for me?

Another subject is,
We fish by jigging. We used dragonfly 4 pro before Axiom 7. Everytime we saw our jigs on the sonar screen while the jig goes down and coming up. Also we saw the fishes we cathed when we pull them out of water. But now, we cant see any our jigs and fishes while jigs going down or coming up on the Axiom sonar screen. I honestly repeat that we saw all our jigs on the dragonfly 4 and other brand of sonars. Dragonfly 4 's transducer was a portable transducer located center of the hull. we carry it with us after we finihed fishing. Do you think it is about location of the transducer?

My second qouestion about sonar is;
When the rock appeared on the screen, where the hull will be located? I mean, I want to send my lures top of the rocks on the sonar screen. But transducer located rear of the hull and when the rock appeared, did I pass the rock ? (I wish I could explain what I mean :) )

my third question is about transducer mounting angle;

My RV-100 tranducer is positioned 90 degree to the hull. İs it ok. What is the best angle to the hull.

İf you reply I will be pleased. Thanks.

ST1 to STNG Converter

I purchased an Axiom 9 and Quantum radar to replace an older (dead) non-Raymarine Chartplotter/Radar. I wanted to network the new MFD with my existing Seatalk instruments. The Axiom 9 is connected to the ST1STNG device with a NMEA 2000 to STNG adapter cable and the ST4000+ Autopilot connected with a Seatalk adapter cable with the red wire cut and insulated. I discovered after days of testing that the power on sequence was critical. The Axiom and the ST4000+ have to be on prior to power being applied to the ST1STNG converter. I was unable to determine this from the manuals, this forum, the internet at large, or Raymarine Technical support. My goal is by posting this I will save someone else the days of testing I spent trying to learn this.
