(DG) Fluxgate compass on ST4000 & new Axiom 9 w/radar

I have a transom hung rudder on a 31 foot (on deck) sailboat (36 feet LOA with bowsprit) that weighs 16,000 lbs. Which evolution autopilot would be appropriate? The EV-100 is for boats up to 13,200 lbs and larger linear drive units are not waterproof and need to be mounted below decks.

Another question I have is how do I connect my fluxgate compass when I install my new axiom 9 and radar so that my st4000 will still work and the radar data will properly overlay on the chart plotter? I don't currently really have a SeaTalk1 network, just the st4000 with a remote control attached to the seatalk1 connection.

(DG) Hooking up Smartpilot x-5 to Simrad Plotter

Hi, I just bought a boat with a Raymarine Smartpilot X-5. The unit works well and I use it all the time. I have 3 questions.

1) Are all those input/output connections on the course computer really workable? I can see NMEA and Sea Talk and Sea Talk (ng) Does ng stand for "next generation", "nice gray", "not good" ????

2) Which input/output on the computer would I best use to connect to my Simrad NSS9 Evo2 Plotter so that I can use the Simrad unit to control the auto-pilot and not have to have both the Raymarine Controller screen and Simrad Plotter taking up space. The Simrad has an NMEA 2000 connection and I am setting up a NMEA 2000 backbone.

3) Could I also use my KVH1000 Autocomp heading sensor with my Smartpilot and not have to have two heading sensors. The KVH1000 output is NMEA 1083 and is used to synch up my radar output.

Hello, is there a way to make the s3g steer to a specific rudder angle as used with power steering? What control unit(s) could make this happen if so?
I have 6001, 6002, smartcontroller, s100. Any of those able to put it into power steering mode?

VHF compatibility with new Simplex channels

Changes to Channels 19, 20, 78, and 79 Marine VHF Usage
Due to the increased need for marine VHF channels for commercial use, a recent ITU World Radio Conference authorised and developed a new channel plan for the following VHF marine radio frequencies.

Channels 19, 20, 78, and 79, which were duplex have now been split into 8 simplex channels numbered 1019, 2019, 1020, 2020, 1078, 2078, 1079, and 2079. This new channel plan took effect January 1, 2017.

All current Radios, RAY 50, RAY 60, RAY70 and any new radios will all have the new 8 Channel capability, the RAY260 will also have this capability, the RAY240 will not.

AUTO TURN angle

When in auto mode the 10 and 1 keys are selected together to tack, the pilot will default to a turn angle of 90 degrees. In some installations or for some types of vessel, you may want to change this to a smaller or a larger angle to make sure the vessel makes the tack successfully,of course the heading can be trimmed afterwards.

Note: this is applicable only when not in wind mode.

This angle setting can be adjusted in calibration by ensuring CAL LOCK is set to OFF and then the AUTO TURN angle is adjustable in the DRIVE settings menu.

[CA] Axiom 12 X A98 integration

Dear Forum Members,

I have an Axion 12 and A98 in my boat, I know that they don't can be integrated by Raynet and some data can be shared using seatlk, but there is any way to share the Quantum Radar and Cp470, I connected then using the switch and they became crazy deciding which one would be the data master. I don't need share data between them. is it possible turn off this function data master??? I just want to see my radar and sonar in both MFD. The Ev2 autopilot and AIS runs in the right way.

[CA] Reloading LightHouse Charts

I purchased an Axiom 12 and a 9 in December, 2017. Included with the MFD's were LightHouse Charts and Navionics. Due to a formatting error on the supplied card, the card needed to be reformatted. The reformatting erased all charts. I was able to reload the Navionics charts through my subscription. How can I reload the LightHouse charts?

Is it possible to set the fishing depth range to single digits vs. the min of 10 feet? When fishing shallow fresh water, it would be desirable to set a range of say 7 to 10 feet. Presently, it goes 0, 10, 20, then you can do individual feet. Thank You.

My new to me boat has Raymarine Electronics and came with no manual. I am not even sure what model the MFD is ... I think it is an e127.?? It says light house II and is a hybird unit ... Can you tell me which model this might be.? And which manuals I should down load.

I turned it on today and looked at the chart. when in full chart screen the chart shows details of my area. When I split the screen the chart is very "vague", with no markers or dept or anything I see when it is set to full screen. Is this normal or am I missing something ?

The unit does have a small SD card inserted behind a door in the lower right corner of the unit.

Can you explain how I go about down loading the lighthouse II chart

[CA] a78 cant Remove waypoint and route #bers

I recently decided to clean house as I noticed unit was taking longer to process in general. I erased Routes and Waypoints, but noticed when creating new routes and waypoints it seems the unit wants to pick the next number of the last waypoint or route created even know they are deleted. It shows in my data that I now have 28 waypoints and no routes, but yet it will assign a # 1022 to a waypoint and a 76 to a route.

Hello all....

I need a new original style mount for my 1st gen Dragonfly 7.
Is the correct part number...R70375?

Anyone know where I can get one?
eBay only lists the mounts for the newer Pro version.

If I can buy direct from Raymarine that would be great but I need he correct part number.

According to a YouTube video for the 2018 Miami Boat show the Axiom will have live streaming from a UAV integration. My question is will the software allow for any live stream video from any camera source such as a GoPro underwater via a cable? Wifi does not work underwater without a cable connection to the surface.

[CA] Integration AIS650 in existing NMEA0183 system

Hello,

I bought a used Sailing boat. Now my subject is to connect a brand new AIS650 to an existing system which is made as follows:

1. MFD C120classic + Radar
2. IS15 (Simrad)
3. AP11 Autopilot (Simrad)
4. RS35 VHF (Simrad)

Actual the “bridge” C120 to the rest of the system is made by a connection between C120 NMEA-Port and the second NMEA-Port of the AP11 (in both directions) to send the fast HDG to MFD. Parallel to this connection the output Tx of C120 is connected to input Rx of IS15.

The VHF is actually a separate “island”, gets a GPS-Signal by an own source.
I just bought a Multiplexer ACTISENSE NDC-4 to get an integrated system.

Reading the manual AIS650 I´m not sure about the characteristics of the internal MUX, means which NMEA-sentences are able to cross the AIS650 from 4.800-port to 38.400-port in both directions.

Questions:

1. Could somebody provide me with a list, which NMEA-sentences are able to
cross the AIS650 from 4.800-port to 38.400-port in both directions
2. Maybe you can recommend a configuration for my system including VHF to get
full functionality.
