More than one Nav DB card in a Networked E80/E120 System

$

Hi, curious question. I've got an installation with dual E120's, networked with a DSM300 and Raymarine HS switch. I typically have the master plotter running with a Navionics DB card. I recently found that if the card or data is corrupted, weird system behaviors can result.

So I'm wondering, I have a spare card with older fixed nav data for my area. Is it better to stow it in the slave plotter's card slot or stow the card on board and keep in reserve in case of a primary card failure?

All the best,

Lothar

MFD, i50/i60/i70, and Dragonfly last power state memory feature

MFD, i50/i60/i70, and Dragonfly last power state memory feature

The last power state memory feature of MFDs, i50/i60/i70 Instrument Displays (operating with the latest available Raymarine product software updates) and Dragonfly displays functions as follows:
- should the product be in the ON state and should the circuit supplying the product be de-energized, then the product will return to the ON state when the circuit is re-energized.
- should the product in the OFF state and should the circuit supplying the product be de-energized, then the product will remain in the OFF state when the circuit is re-energized. Pressing the POWER button of the product will return it to the ON state.

The primary benefit of this feature is that it easily permits the operator to switch ON or or OFF the marine electronics system without having to switch ON or OFF each individual device.

RMK-9 / RMK-10 Power button will not switch MFD(s) ON

While the Power button of a RMK-9 or RMK-10 may be used to switch an a/c/e/gS-Series MFD or Axiom/Axiom Pro MFD OFF, the RMK-9 and RMK-10 are not designed to switch these MFD's ON. Accordingly, these MFDs must be switched ON via their respective Power buttons. Please note that Raymarine MFDs feature a last power state memory feature, permitting the MFD's to be also be switched ON/OFF via the power circuit supplying the MFD(s). Aloha,
I'm having a new force 25' built with twin outboard suzuki 150's no skybridge. I will be mostly trolling for pelagic in Maui occasionally bottom fishing. I'd like to be around 10k. I'd can't decide dedicated chartplotter and fishfinder or MFD. I hope to get a radar for spotting those birds and I want autopilot. Any product suggestions for getting it right the first time and best bang for your buck. Mahalo !

Navionics + chart sharing with latest v3.4.66

What am I doing wrong. I have 3 Axiom 12" displays. The displays that don't have the chip in them still crash frequently when I choose a chart display. If they don't crash, they don't ever offer the navionics+ and/or sonar chart.

See attached.

Intermittent cartography, radar, fishfinder, and / or video sharing between MFDs

Intermittent cartography, radar, fishfinder, and / or camera video sharing between MFDs

Proper Ethernet communications is essential to sharing of high bandwidth data such as cartography, radar, fishfinder imagery, camera video, etc.. Networking failures can cause the subject symptom and/or unstable (restarting) or the system's MFDs. Accordingly, when experiencing such issues, it is recommended that the system's Ethernet network be inspected to ensure that:

- each of the system's Ethernet (RayNet) cables have not been damaged or spliced

- the pins of the system's Ethernet (RayNet) cable plugs are free of corrosion

- excess Ethernet (RayNet) cable has been loosely coiled so as to not create cable bends having radius of less than 6" and secured to a bulkhead ... excessively small radius cable bends may cause permanent damage to the cable(s)

- any Ethernet cable joiners, crossover couplers, or switches are of a Raymarine design

- the marine electronics Ethernet network has not been joined to the boat's own Ethernet network (should one be installed onboard to support personal computers, etc.)

- verify that any installed Ethernet switches are being properly powered

- verify that each MFD within the system of networked MFDs has been updated with the same version of software.

- should a Factory Reset operation (LightHouse 3: HOME->SETTINGS->THIS DISPLAY->FACTORY RESET; LightHouse II: HOME->SET-UP->MAINTENANCE->SYSTEM SETTINGS & DATA RESET) not have been performed to each of the system's MFDs following the last software update, then it is recommended that any waypoints, routes, and tracks of value be backed up and that a Factory Reset then be commanded on each of the system's MFDs. After doing so, then the system's MFD's may be reconfigured and backed up waypoint, routed, and tracks may then be imported back into the MFD's internal memory.

I have a new ev1,P70 and tiller pilot, just connected to existing e57 and St60+ set.

The pilot seems ok, but when in auto mode and press together 10 and 1 keys to tack, the pilot aims for 90 degrees. This boat is a catamaran and I want to change this to 100 or even 110 to make sure she makes the tack. I can trim afterwards.

Note this is not in wind mode.

any help greatfully received.

[CA] Help With Setup

With a new Boston Whaler 250 Outrage on the horizon, we have decided to go with a dual screen setup (Axiom Pro RVX 12" accompanied by an Axiom pro S "Dual Screen") 24" HD Color Radome and a ray 260 modular VHF. This boat has a lot of electrical systems in addition to the aforementioned electronics but only two batteries. My question is will those 2 batteries be enough to run all of these electronics simultaneously or will 1 or 2 additional batteries need to be added to feel comfortable with the setup when out on the open ocean.

Additionally I have a few questions about adding Navionics cards to these displays.

is it possible to add a charting card along with a fishing hot spots card and run them simultaneously with each other? i.e. overlay the fishing spots on the Navionics chart?

Thank You,

wmp

[CA] EV100: including i50 speed correctly?

$

Installing a new EV100 autopilot on sailboat. Up until this point I have only had very basic instrumentation consisting of one i50 depth display and one i50 speed display (connected to separate transducers).

I'd like to get my speed data in to the EV100 properly, but I'm a little unfamiliar with SeaTalkNG and backbones vs spurs etc. I have done some reading and think I have it figured, just looking for confirmation of whether I have this right or not.

I have mockup of what I want to do but can't get attachment to insert into post (javascript error), mockup can be seen here:
http://www.pictureofnectar.com/outside/ev100.jpg

Almost all of mockup it is verbatim out of EV100 install manual, just looking for confirmation that I'm adding the two i50 displays correctly. Can I go from a T piece (terminated on one end) to the speed and then just connect the speed to the depth? Or do I have to do separate spur to speed and separate spur to depth? I don't need the depth info on the network right now but want to set things up right for future use.

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks!

[DG] DF4 pro weird readings and depth scale issue

hello,

i have some issues on my df4pro since i purchased it.
First the "depth scale" on both down and sonar vision always differs from the depth shown on the top left and is shown correct in the wifish app.

The second issue isthat i sometimes get readings with double numbers on this scale like 0 meters 0 meters and so on.
anyone has had this issues and can help me solve it? The transducer always mounted with a portable holder about 0,5 meters below surface. i added 4 attachments showing the same screen on the df4 and wifish, and 2 of these weird reading stuff.

excuse my bad english and thanks in advance

[DG] S3G as backup of SPX-SOL

Hi all

after reading the thread "SPX-5 as backup to EV-200" 11-01-2017, I would like to use my old S3G as a standby backup of the SPX-SOL.

As I have only ST1 network, I'll use a diverter applied to "off switch" contacts of both autopilots to have only one at a time working.

I think it's possible connect the solenoid and clutch cables to the respective contacts of both autopilots, but I don't know if it's possible to have the rudder and fluxgate sensors cables permanently connected to the respective contacts of both autopilots.

So before risking damage, I look forward to knowing the opinion of the guru.

All the best

[CA] Quantum 2 RADAR without EV fastheading data

$

Hi,

I'm still considering updating my old Classic C80 MFD along with it's older Radar (I believe RD214) and trying to do all my homework.

In the Quantum2 installation manual, I see reference to the need for "Fastheading" data to support many features of the Quantum 2 Radar.

It mentioned the need for Heading data to support "Doppler Radar features" and "MARPA Radar features" and that the Heading data requires a compass or autopilot sensor providing "Fastheading" data.

It says to use a EV-1 or EV-2 to supply this information.

Considering that I never will need nor want any type of autopilot on my boat, I'm trying to understand what Radar functions I will lose if I don't install an EV-1? Since the Quantum2 is advertised at a Doppler Radar, will most of its functions become useless?

This need seems to considerably increase the cost of this system, and also seems to reduce the usefulness of the new Quantum 2 features if I don't install an EV-1.

Is there any documentation to help me understand exactly what features I will lose without the EV-1 in my system?

This requirement seems to add about $600 to $700 to the cost of the Quantum 2 Radar if no autopilot is being used. Is there a less expensive way to add the "fastheading" data?

Thanks for any help!
Rich

Hello I have a p70 control head, that’s not functional, it lights up as to boot up (white screen) the raymarine logo doesn’t show up, after a few seconds I can press buttons and hear beeping, white screen (backlight)remains constantly , is there any sequence of bottons to push to do a hard reset to the display as I cannot view what screen/menus I’m in

I am able to manually power down the unit by pressing standby then repressing it for 3-5 second and turn the unit back on but that doesn’t help

[CA] Axiom 9 - Max Depth and 3D Sonar Issue

$

I have the Axiom 9 with the thru-hull RV-200 and I'm experiencing an issue where the depth and sonar cut out around 330'. I recently updated to 3.4 and testing over the weekend confirms it still cuts out. I have to head back into like 220' of water for the depth/sonar to start working again. Any thoughts on what maybe causing this and how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!
