I've got the Axiom 9 home for the winter running on the bench. 3.2.101

I've got a Navionics card installed with Freshest Data.

I did a Factory Reset on the unit. The Axiom chart status (see attached) now tells me my Navionics subscription is not active. I then updated the card with the 'freshest' Freshest Data. The Axiom still says subscription not active.

Suggestions? Thanks.

I've got the Axiom 9 home for the winter running on the bench. 3.2.101

I've got a Navionics card installed with Freshest Data.

Marinas are displayed as, well, "sailboats". I want to remove them from the display. Their visibility seems to be tied to the display of "Navigation marks". That is, to remove the marinas, I need to remove all nav marks.

Is this correct? If so I'd call this a bug, or at least a very-strong feature request to be able to suppress marinas but keep ATONs.

[CA] TM258 with Axiom?

Hi,

I currently have the Axiom 9 and the RV 100 duper, but it struggles to find the bottom at times in 400-500ft using the chirp sonar.
Has been suggested to run a TM258 and a Y cable and keep the real / down vision and use this for conventional sonar.

Have looked and think i have the answers, but have been told you need the CP370 as the axiom won't run the TM258, although also been told it will (but only at 600w) it was recommended i try it and see before adding a CP370. This stuff is pretty expensive here in New Zealand so want to get it right.

Any answers would be helpful.

Thanks

Chris

[CA] NMEA 0183 Compatibility - 3rd Party Device

I have a third party device that I would like to connect to an e165 MFD. The manufacturer specifications state:
0-6V NMEA 0183 serial data output
Q: Is this voltage level considered compatible with the NMEA input ports on the MFD?

[CA] Sharing between 2 MFDs

When I bought my boat a few years ago it came with a DX600 fish finder and RC435 plotter. I replaced the DX600 with an A67 mfd and CP300 sonar and 1kw transducer. I now want to replace the RC435 with a A6x mfd. Although no longer made I can get an A68. I will install a HS5 network switch to enable sharing. I intend to run the A67 as the master with the chart card in this mfd.
I have a few of questions.
If I use the A67 for sonar will the A68 display the charts OK?
The A68 comes with Downvision. Could I display the sonar from the CP300 on the A68 and chart on the A67?
If I also installed the CPT100 transducer I know I’m likely to get interference with the CP300. Can I select which sonar is active and be able to use either sonar depending on situation?

Greetings, I am updating the GPS plotter after purchasin a Es97.I am currently running SeaTalk 1 network. I have studied the manuals and postings on this webpage and think I have it figured out but would appreciate feedback if this is not best practice. Please see attachment.

Does this appear to be correctly configured to establish a Seatalkng backbone?

Thank you for your help.

[CA] Installing an Axiom MFD

I’m in the process of installing a major update on my Boston Whaler Montauk 190-2011 electronics equipped with Mercury EFI Fourstroke 150-2015 adding a 2nd engine for safety and trolling purposes (Mercury 9.9 Fourstroke long shaft).
I plan to replace my electronics dismissing the old Raymarine A7d and acquiring a new Axiom 9” (I mean the standard model, not the PRO).
The Axiom will sport the complete fishfinder set (3d, sidevision and downvision) with an RV100 transom mount transducer and, very probably, an EV100 autopilot too.
As it is a major a very costly update, I want to make sure of everything before throwing a lot of money into the boat.
I have now a couple of questions:

Is there any better alternative to RV100 transducer taking into account that I cannot install a thru hull transducer and I can only install a transom mount transducer?

Is it possible to display on the Axiom screen the Mercury (main engine) data?
Should I buy some adapter or converter?

Thank you for your help.

[CA] p70 bezel update

Hi- I just purchased an i50 and an i70s. My system has an existing p70. The i50 came with a second bezel and cover which are color and shape matched to the i70s. Will the same bezel and cover fit the p70 (it looks like it might)? If not,do you have a bezel upgrade for the p70 which matches the i70s? I don't know what the part numbers might be for any of these bezel/cover combinations.
Thanks

I have a Raymarine T92182 HD Dome. Mid fishing trip my radar stopped picking up targets (land and moving) as well as waypoints from my chart. I can here the unit running and have a green flashing light at networking switch. I've checked connections and all seem fine. The motherboard on radar was replaced three years ago. Has worked fine since. Thoughts?

I have an Axiom 7 with the Navionics card installed. In the navigation screen with detailed layers set the depth markings are very hard to find. They are on the screen but not many. I’m comparing the screen to a third party chartplotter which had numerous depth footages compared to my Axiom. Am I doing something wrong?

[CA] eS75 Sluggish User Interface Response (Locally and RayControl)

My eS75 feels sluggish and unresponsive in use, especially with charts displayed. Are there any system performance diagnostic tests I should be looking to run?

As a secondary question, the response on my iPAD using the RayControl app is extremely laggy, switching between screens is slow etc. The iPAD is not new - model MD785 (16GB) and I think a 1.4GHz processor. Is there a way to get better RayControl performance?

thanks

[CA] Axiom 9 IPV7 Waterproof

I recently purchased an Axiom 9 with RV-100 transducer which I'm using on a mobile application. This is mounted to an inflatable boat which I am rigging and unrigging with every use.

The power cable for this unit has two connections. One is a three conductor cable to be connected to the battery and the other end is what I'm guessing is a NMEA 2000 connector. This connector is not capped and I am not using it. Does this need to be plugged to keep the IPV7 rating of the unit? I do not see a plug included with the unit.

Thanks

Chris

[CA] RV-100 Transducer Cable Length

I recently purchased an Axiom 9 with RV-100 transducer which I'm using on a mobile application. This is mounted to an inflatable boat which I am rigging and unrigging with every use.

The cable length of the RV-100 at 26 feet is excessive for my application. I need about 4 feet. Can this be shortened?

Thanks,

Chris

(DG) ACU-300 Solenoid with other vendor's pump - 12V or 24V selectable?

$

Hi,

My vessel is equipped with an old Radio Zeeland Euro 500 autopilot, which works with a constant running pump like E12172.

I'd like to have a Raymarine Autopilot and I wonder if the ACU-300 would be able to drive the existing solenoid valves.

The old constant running pump is running on 12V, while I'd like the ACU-300 run on 24V (which is my standard voltage on the vessel).

1. Can a 24V ACU-300 drive solenoid valves from a 12V constant running pump?

2. Is the ACU-300 suitable for working with a constant running pump from other vendors?

Thanks!

ACU300 and solenoids

Some hydraulic steering systems require a higher flow rate, to operate the steering cylinders at the correct speed to steer the vessel correctly, than can be provided by the standard reversing pumps.

A standard reversing pump moves the steering cylinders to and fro by reversing the direction of flow of oil to the cylinder by simply reversing the direction of rotation of the electric motor. This will only work satisfactorily up to a certain cubic capacity of hydraulic cylinder. Above this capacity, the flow rate required to achieve the correct hardover time would require a large electric motor and the power required would be too large for a reversing electric motor. You can read more about reversing hydraulic pumps here
For more information about hardover time click here

In this case, constant running hydraulic pumps can be used. These can be in two forms, either an independent electrically driven constant running pump, which has a constant supply of high pressure oil always available and the flow is directed by the solenoids which are operated by the ACU300, or there could be an engine driven hydraulic pump, which operates when the engine is running and it too provides a constant source of high pressure oil, which can be directed by solenoids.

The ACU300 can be used to control the solenoids fitted to constant running pumps manufactured by other suppliers, or to control solenoids fitted to a hydraulic manifold pressurised by an engine driven pump.

In each case, the key essential for autopilot operation is that the flow rate is correctly adjusted to provide the correct hardover time for the vessel and the steering system.

However, it is important that the solenoids in each type of installation conform to the following specification

The pull in Voltage - less than 8V (16v for 24v systems)
The drop out Voltage - greater than 2V
The operating Current - less than 5A
The Solenoid Voltage must be the same as the course computer.
The response time of the solenoid valve is less than 150 to 180 milliseconds

Please also ensure that 'flyback' diodes need to be fitted in parallel with the solenoid coils
Note the oil viscosity, flow and pressure all effect the response time of the solenoids.

(DG) ST6002 Autopilot integration with Axiom 12

$

I recently install a new Axiom 12. I was trying to setup Pilot Integration but the slide switch is inactive. It may be that the original integration setup was never done with the E120 system by the factory. How can I setup the integration so I can use the AutoPilot Control on the Axiom? Do I need to buy a new P70 or P70R module?
Thanks!
