Axiom and Axiom Pro Wireless Display (Miracast)

Since v3.2.86 software (http://www.raymarine.com/software-update...xiompro/), Axiom (http://www.raymarine.com/multifunction-displays/axiom/) and Axiom Pro (http://www.raymarine.com.au/multifunctio...axiom-pro/) displays now feature Wireless Display capability using the Miracast protocol.

Miracast is a Wifi Alliance standard that is a vendor-neutral equivalent to Google Cast and Apple Airplay, both of which are proprietary. Many TVs support Miracast directly, and for those that don't there are Miracast-to-HDMI dongles which receive the Axiom's wireless display signal and output on HDMI to the TV. Miracast is sometimes called 'HDMI over Wifi'.
Using Miracast for the display's video output saves installation cost and can improve range, especially compared to HDMI cables which are limited in length.

Make sure you use a properly-certified Wifi Alliance-approved Miracast device: we have found that low-cost generic devices tend to be very unreliable: it's just not worth it. A certified Miracast dongle won't cost much more.
You will also need recent software in your Axiom/Pro display: Mircast support came in in v3.2.86. You can check software and update over-the-air at Home > Settings > Update Software on your Axiom / Axiom Pro display.

Miracast is only available on Axiom and Axiom Pro displays, earlier MFDs do not have the required hardware capability, even if updated to Lighthouse 3.

Attached is a document that gives some more information, including how to find Wifi Alliance-certified Miracast receivers and TVs.

Quantum doesn't show SOG/COG

Hi,
I have a new Axiom 12 with Navionics and Quantum wifi radar.

The radar image is not displaying sog/cog, although I can select them on Navionics and they display just fine. Without sog/cog on the radar, the radar will not overlay on the chart, although they display side by side just fine. The radar displays the bearing line, but nothing on it.
I have searched the manual and can't figure out how to get the radar to display cog/sog.

Help!...and Thanks

Axiom 9 setup

I have a brand new Axiom 9. Why does i not show any of the canals in Cape Coral, Florida? I have looked through the settings pages for Navionics as well as lighthouse and C-maps. I do not get any of the canals to show up at all. If it can’t be corrected in the setups, it would be extremely disappointing. I’m sure it’s user error! TIA

C Series MFD Wont Show All Chart Soundings

I'm using a network of C97 and C95 MFD's, coupled with digital radar, sonar and various Raymarine instruments and autopilots. The C97 is configured as the data master, and contains the Navionics chart card (MSD/NAV-NI, USA & Canada). For some time I've wondered why the chart display on the two screens was different, with the C95 in the cockpuit offering much more detailed soundings than the C97 at the nav station.

Coming into this anchorage in the Bahamas those additional soundings were vital, so after we anchored I painstaking stepped through all the setup options on both screens, to look for the mismatch. Figuring it was in the chart plotter setup somewhere. There were some minor differences in the setup, but nothing obvious that would cause one screen to show all the depth soundings, and the other to show very few. After setting up both screens identically, we re-booted the system and suddenly found that both screens were identical, but not the way we wanted - now, neither screen shows all the detail soundings!

The C95 used to show all the soundings, identically to the iPad we also carry, with Navionics cartography. They were identical - hence I have included here a screen grab from the iPad to show what the C95 used to display. Also attached is an image that shows what both the C95 and C97 look like now when zoomed in close.

In the chart setup options, chart display is set as extra detailed.
Under objects, Chart Detail is set at High, and most features are set to ON.
Under Depths & Contours, Show Soundings is set to ALL, with Deep water set at 10meters.
Under Advanced Options, shallow water is set at 1.0m.

Both plotters have current version software installed, V19.03-00036

I've spent hours on this and cannot get either screen to show all the soundings that I know are on the Navionics card - becuase I could see them yesterday on the C95! Would appreciate advice on any config. error I may have made.

I would like to confirm that I could install an a78 head unit at my upper control station and network it via wifi to my e127's at primary helm. Any reason it would not work with full functionality?

Thanks in advance for your advise.

COG - hsb2 Pathfinder Series Radar Display

I have a hsb2 Pathfinder Series Radar Display (RL80CRC PLUS) that is still working! (lol)
But I have several COG vector lines that always remain on the chartplotter display. They were made when the COG vector was set at infinite.
Is there a way to delete these?

Also the sounder does not show water temperature in the data box as it did before. All other sounder functions are working perfectly and depth does show correctly in the data box.
What can be the issue that do I not show the temperature in the data box any more?

Updating Autohelm 100 and Raydata units

I have a functioning older autopilot system consisting of an autohelm 100, Raydata display, flux gate compass, rudder position sensor and Ray pilot 65 remote, and hydraulic unit.

As the Raydata display became barely readable, (I wanted to view rudder position),
I installed an I70s display as well as a seatalk to n2k converter. This works quite well, and I can get rudder position on the I70s !

What I would like to know is, can I replace the Raydata display with a P70rs unit,so it becomes the rudder display and the autopilot control? Not sure if I could still also use the existing remote 65 which connects in via seatalk

Thanks

After 2 years of owning the boat, the ONLY thing that doesn't work is the AP. It is an older S1 with ST8002 and a ST6002 at the upper station.

I just repaired the rudder indicator -- and now get nice even resolution on the bar indicator.

I am trying to determine what the latest version of firmware is for the S1 and what changes were made from update to update to see if this is something I should do. I *think* (going by memory) that the current is v.3.04... I know the ST8002 is @ v5.00.
The diagnostics show that there are approximately 50 hours on the AP. (Assuming that is what it means when I continue to scroll through the ST8002 version information).

I have not been out to seatrial calibrate since repairing the rudder bar, so I am not certain upgrading the firmware for the S1 is prudent or needed.

There is no Gyro on the S1.

The pump is working correctly. The link between the E120 and the S1 is also working. (Shows when in auto and when in standby).

Prior to repairing the rudder indicator I was able to successfully complete the compass calibration (2 full wide turns via Seatrial mode). I was unable to complete the zig-zag portion of the test... likely due to the malfunctioning rudder indicator.

The balance of the system is a E120 with DSM300 and SeaTalkHS, and a 10KW Open Array 4' Radar.

Please let me know if there are any other pertinent questions.

Dear SR. My autopilot Raymarine after 16 years of perfect service don´t function properly anymore, The failure is that you can hear the motor of the unit trying to correct the course but it run free, perhaps the clutch don´t function anymore ? I appreciate any idea to take a decision.

Thanks

Hi, i have just upgraded my autopilot and purchased a used raymarine smartpilot x10, as well as a st6002 control head. These are both second hand and from seperate people (never used together), is it recomended to do a factory reset of them and recalibrate them from scratch. The manuals say this is not recomended without advise from raymarine, but i guess they need fully setting up for my boat. Thanks for your help. Simon

E125 Touch not Responding

I have an e125 and an e127. The 127 is working perfectly. The e125 seems to be partially non responsive to most touch commands. The LOCK Touch is Off. The initial accept button touch will not work. The manual buttons all work. I can use touch to zoom in and relocate the map display but all other touch functions do not reapond. I tried power off and also did a system reset, same thing. Is there some other setting I need to change? The last time I went out all worked ok. I did not change anything since it had worked correctly. Any ideas?

software update question

$

I have an e7 MFD and updated the software to version 19.03 shortly after the April update was released. I see the latest update is still listed as 19.03, the one released in April, but looking down into the release notes is looks like additional more recent updates may be available for certain instruments. For example, software for the i70 is apparently updated in December to version 3.11 from 3.08. If I insert a chip with the current update can I update any other peripherals without having to reload the entire update? I am hoping not to have to recalibrate my autopilot as a result of this update to the i70.

Can you connect Axiom to RL80C plus for GPS signal

Hello Raymarine,

I have a 2003 searay 420 with all original Raymarine products, RL80C plus, Raypilot ST7001, Raymarine VHF, speed/ depth transducer, and RayNav 300 GPS which i'm looking to replace with a new 7" Axiom MFD.

Question can I remove the RayNav 300 and connect the Axiom to the seatalk to provide all the devices the GPS signal that the RayNav 300 currently provides?

Thank you

Gathering data to help diagnose autopilot performance problems

Autopilots are complex systems with behaviour that depends on input from multiple streams of sensor data, vessel speed, steering characteristics and much more as well as weather and sea-state. If a pilot's not steering a good course, therefore, there are a lot of potential causes that should be checked before assuming a fault. In fact, (I can say this because I didn't design them) the current Evolution pilots are brilliant and massively reliable, so if yours isn't performing well there is almost certainly a problem with its setup or incoming data, which we can help find and solve.

Some other FAQs (e.g. http://forum.raymarine.com/showthread.php?tid=1772) deal with common things that can cause steering problems, but if it's not something plain and simple like this, what can be done to understand the problem and the cause?
The answer is to gather a recording of NMEA2000/SeatalkNG data whilst the pilot is in use, and the problem is apparent.

WHY IS RECORDING SEATALKNG DATA USEFUL?
A verbal description of how a pilot performs is very hard to convey clearly, but contained within a data recording will be time-stamped data which shows:
- pilot heading versus GPS course-over-ground
- speed-through-water versus speed-over-ground
- pilot mode (Standby, Auto, Vane, Track, Calibration)
- requested and actual rudder angles and rudder slew rate
- vessel yaw rate
- vessel pitch and roll, wind data
- any pilot alarms and error messages
- bearing and distance to waypoint, cross-track error
- product part numbers, serial numbers and software versions
and much more. In other words, if you can log that data and send it to us, we can 'replay' your trip, seeing how the pilot and vessel performed almost as if we were aboard ourselves, and graph any combination of data over time.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
1. Turn on pilot 'debugging', in Setup > Calibration > Commissioning. Set to debug level 7. To see this option, Calibration Lock (in Vessel Settings) needs to be Off.
2. Insert a blank MicroSD card into the chart slot of a Raymarine Lighthouse2 MFD (if you have more than one MFD, this needs to be the Master unit which is connected to STNG)
3. On the MFD, go to Home > Setup > Maintenance > Diagnostics > Interfaces > Record File and make sure that the correct slot is selected (1 is top), then go to N2K/STng > Buffer > Start Buffer > Record Buffer
4. Go to Home > Setup > Maintenance > Diagnostics > Select Device. This causes the system to poll all NMEA2000 devices, which will then appear in the recording.
5. Use the pilot, for as long as you need to in order to demonstrate the problem. You must be underway, and you must log a minimum of several minutes of data. If you log for a long time, please make a note of when we can expect to see the problem (e.g. 4.30pm or 25 minutes into the log.)
6. Go back into MFD diagnostics and stop the log recording.
7. Turn Debug Mode back off on the pilot.
8. Create a post in the Autopilot forum, describing the problem and attaching all of the NMEAxxxxxx.log files that you will find on your MicroSD card.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN LH2 MFD
Many Raymarine technical service dealers have hardware which can make recordings, or we may be able to supply a 'data logger' which can do the same thing. If you think you may need to go this way, contact Technical Support.
Raymarine LH3 MFDs do not yet have the capability to make recordings, but this is coming to the software in due course.

WHAT PILOTS IS THIS GOOD FOR?
Any SeatalkNG-connected pilot: SPX pilots with colour pilot displays and the Evolution range.

WHAT NEXT?
We'll take a look at your log-file, replay it through our test systems, and come back to you in due course.

RayView and RayRemote with Axiom Pro

$

I have a WiFi network on my boat that I want to connect all devices to, instead of connecting to the Axiom's WiFi Sharing network.

1. I cannot see any way to configure the Axiom Pro to use my WiFi network other than going through the "Update" process, choosing "online" then being able to add the WiFi info. Is there some other menu to configure?

2. When the Axiom Pro is rebooted it does not automatically connect to the WiFi network, even though it is saved. If I look at the WiFi settings using the above procedure, it says there was an error connecting to the WiFi network... but if I simply tap on the name it connects perfectly.

3. After I see the Axiom Pro connected to my boat's WiFi network I try and run RayRemote (or RayView) from my iPhone, which is also connected to the boat's WiFi network, but the app cannot see the Axiom Pro and gives me an error message saying I need to connect to the MFDs shared network. Can I not use my own network for this? Does not seem right.

Any insight will be much appreciated!

CP100 and multiple transducers?

$

I currently have a p66 transducer that is networked to my two e7D MFDs through a HS5 Raynet switch. I would like to upgrade to a CP100 module and a CPT100 transducer. However,I would also like to keep the speed wheel option of my p66 transducer available to my network. I am assuming that the only way to do this is to have two transducers mounted on the boat and to run their cables to the Raynet switch? Is there is another single transducer that will work? Will Raymarine come out with a CPT100 with speed capabilities?
In the course of reading this forum, I understand that I can mount two transducers very close to each other without issues. If this is how I should proceed to keep the speed sensor, how do I have the new CPT100 transducer be the main transducer for the fishfinder mode on the e7Ds? Do I need to change any settings to have the speed sensor information displayed on both of my e7Ds?
Thank you for your answers. Unfortunately, my local marine electronics shop has closed and there are no local resources anymore.

Backbone Power via ACU-400

I just finished my installation (see diagram attached) and per documentation recommendation and advice on this forum, I powered the backbone from the ACU-400.

After a bit of testing the backbone lost power and I figured out the SeaTalkng power fuse on the ACU-400 was blown.

Turns out this is a 3A fuse, but all the SeaTalk docs talk about 5A fuses.

Is the ACU-400 not sufficient for this purpose? As you can see the backbone is balanced and I followed all other recommendations.

Maybe it was just a fluke, but I figured I should ask to make sure before I take the boat out!

[CA] Axiom Pro's Not Sharing Charts

$

I have two Axiom Pro 12" RVX MFDs. They are connected to a RayNet HS switch.

The MFDs see each other and one is set up as the master.

Settings, etc appear to be getting shared correctly, but even though I see the Navionics charts as available on the seconf MFD, when I select it, the charts just are not loading. I see the default charts only, as if I had not charts.

I tried switching the SD card to the other unit and making it the master. Now the other unit does not see the charts.

Is this a known issue? If not, how do I begin to troubleshoot?

[CA] eS128 MFD displays wide magenta track following boat icon

When using Navionics Chart for my Es128 MFD, a wide magenta track is displayed behind the boat icon when underway. I have not activated the track function nor is this track recorded in my data. I have not been able to stop it from appearing on any route I take nor can I erase it. This does not happen when using The Lighthouse Chart. The track’s width covers important detail necessary for navigation. I renewed my subscription last week with Raymarine and am using an updated Navionics platinum plus MSD. Can you provide help for this issue.

[CA] only want to use sonar & navionics

I have no use for applications other than subject. No radar, no engine data and etc. Only chart will be Navionics. How do I get away from all the clutter. For instance, I always run Heads Up but the unit constantly changes it to North Up when I switch from sonar to chart. Having two chart icons on the home screen plus the dual chart icon is not necessary for me. Is that part of my problem?
