Switching chart vectors ON/OFF within a MFD running LightHouse 3

Switching chart vectors ON/OFF within a MFD running LightHouse 3 (ex. Axiom, Axiom Pro)

Within MFDs running LightHouse 3 software, the menu options for switching chart COG, heading, wind, and current vectors ON/OFF may be accessed by holding your finger pressed to the vessel position icon when a Chart page/pane is active. The system data requirements for properly displaying these vectors follows:
- COG - GPS sensor input to the system
- Heading - sensor input from one of the following:
----- Autopilot equipped with magnetic north seeking compass
----- Magnetic north seeking instrument compass
----- Satellite compass or sensor input to the system
- Wind Arrow (True Wind) - all of the following required:
----- Apparent wind angle,
----- Apparent wind speed,
----- Speed (through water),
------Heading data (see above)
- Tide Arrow (drift vector) - all of the following required:
----- GPS COG
----- GPS SOG
----- Heading data (see above)
----- Speed (through water),

Should there be any doubt regarding whether one's system include one or more of the required sensor inputs, then verification may be performed by customizing the data cells within a Data application panel or Databox to report the specified data items. Should the data item be reported as dashes ("-.-" or "---") then, no source of the corresponding data has been interfaced to the system.

Raytech Navigator Unable to Import/Export Waypoints

Running an E120 on the boat and Raytech 6.2 on Windows 10.

I have an archive.fsh file on my CF card that i just exported from my E120 and it won’t import into Raytech. I have tried all the methods I’ve found on the forum including making an archive folder in the root and importing from there. I am able to see the file when importing but it fails and says no waypoints imported.

I am able to import and older excel spreadsheet that does not contain my most recent waypoints. The only thing I can think of is that I have characters in my most recent waypoints that aren’t supported (however I don’t think that I’ve used unsupported characters) but I have no way of verifying that as I am not at the boat and can’t look into the .fsh file.

Are there any suggestions aside from going down to the boat and seeing exactly what is contained in the waypoints? I know the .fsh file contains tracks and duplicate waypoints and duplicate groups (my own mistake) could that foul up the import?

a series dimmer function

I have an C127 MFD and the issue I am having is that the roto-knob adjusts the screen brightness in starts and fits going brighter when dimming and the reverse. It doesn't operate smoothly at all and at times it is just impossible to lower the brightness for night ops. Curious thing is that in other menu selections the knob seems to work just fine. I had updated the software recently to solve a depth sounder issue. The version I have is: v19.03-00036 Is it a hardware fault or software? Is it a field fix or do I need to send the unit in?

any insight would be helpful

I have a new Axiom 7 I just updated the unit. I am trying to load waypoints from an SD disk. There are 2800 waypoints in a GPX format the Axiom will only accept 81 of the 2800 and says download failed, and will not accept anymore from the card. The total number of waypoints in the unit are the 81 it accepted.

AXIOM with Raystar 125

Instead of the GA-150, can I use an existing RayStar 125 GPS receiver with an AXIOM Pro MFD if I connect the RayStar 125 to the AXIOM via one of the two NMEA-0183 input ports on the AXIOM and do not use the GA-150 connection on the AXIOM?

If I do this, can I then connect the NMEA 0183 output of the AXIOM to a the NMEA-0183 input of a legacy E-120 Classic MFD so the E-120 can have a GPS source?

Finally, though not directly related to the Raystar 125 question, can the AXIOM SeaTalkng/NMEA-2000 port AND the E-120 Classic SeaTalkng/NMEA-2000 port be connected to the same NMEA-2000 bus?

Thanks,

axiom 9 wind and vector

I've got an Axiom 9 RV that I purchased when they first came out earlier this year. I am not able to get the wind or vector to display on the chart. I also frequently get a black dot instead of the boat icon. Initially I thought maybe these features just weren't working in the software yet, but recently I did an install of another Axiom 9 on a different boat and all these features work fine. Today I updated the software to the latest version and also did a factory reset with no change in wind/vector being displayed. I am getting wind data to the MFD and it displays fine on the data pages. The wind is checked as seen in the attached photo. I am at a loss as to where to go next as it has the latest software and has had a factory reset done on it. Looking for ideas, thanks!

Quantum Accuracy

Dear friends,

This weekend we were holding a fishing tournament in our nautical club, and one of the boats was drifting through the night without fuel, before that I went with my boat in search of him. I used the Axiom 9, Quantum Radar, and AIS 350 sets to search for it. the drifting boat was a 32 foot bass fishing boat. I am not a radar specialist, but I used the radar and disregarded the marks that were also shown in the AIS, so here in Brazil only large vessels use, and to my surprise the target sought in no way was visible. I was using the radar in the automatic settings, but several times I tried to increase the gain and still the target was not visible. Could he have done something different? I looked at the manual now and saw that it has modes, harbur, coastal, offshore and weather, changing the mode would have helped? what would be the way. I was a bit unsure of navigating the night now and hitting on some target. I located the boat after much searching 8 miles away, but even very close it was not visible and the boat had radar reflector

thank You

ST 60 instruments

I have ST60+ wind and depth displays, and an ST60+ autopilot controller on my binnacle. They are wired through a Raymarine course computer at the Nav Table. All of these components were installed in 2006. Lately, the autopilot controller engage button has been working intermittently, and the masthead wind vane has been sticking in position at low wind velocities.

A replacement for the masthead wind vane is available, and I am planning on replacing that; however, the ST60+ autopilot controller is no longer available. I have several questions in regard to my installation:

-Is there a replacement for the ST60+ autopilot controller that will fit the same cutout as the ST60+, and if so, what is the model number? Are there replacements for the ST60+ wind and depth displays that will fit the same cutouts, if I should need them in the future?
-Will the replacement controller use the same wiring as the ST60+, or will I need to rewire?
-If I need to rewire, will I need to use a Seatalk to Seatalkng converter between the existing course computer and the new controller?

Alternatively, if I decide to replace the wind and depth displays, the autopilot controller and the course computer with all new components, will the ST60+ masthead wind vane work with the new course computer and display? (I have replaced the cable for the masthead wind vane in the past, and given the extreme difficulty of running it through the mast wiring channel, I would not want to have to repeat this.) Would the existing depth transducer work with the new course computer and display? Would I need to install a Seatalk to Seatalkng converter to use the ST60+ masthead wind vane and the existing depth transducer with the new components?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer in regard to my installation.

Connecting a Axiom Pro 12 S in place of a RC530

I recently purchased an Axiom Pro 12 S to replace my sailboat's RC530 chart plotter as well as a Quantum Radar to replace a 15 year old analog Raymarine Radome.

I need help to make a connection between the in place the older cable that carries power and the NMEA 0183 wires to the Navpod at the binnacle.

The new cable for NMEA 0183, Video, Power has: Red, Black, and female BNC connectors that I know what to do with. It also has White, Yellow, Brown, Green, Orange with gray stripe, and Orange with white stripe. I understand that those are for the NMEA 0183.

The older cable has Red and black that I know go to + and - battery and also Yellow, Green, Blue, Orange, and a bare (uncoated) wire.

Please tell me what connections should I make between the wires in the old cable and the new cable in order to have the NMEA 0183 functional.

The other equipment that the system has is a ST6001+ autopilot, ST60 tridata, ST60 speed, and a remote for the autopilot. I plan to soon add a Raymarine AIS transponder.

Thanks!

ITC-5 LED lights and failure to see wind and speed transducers

$

I just installed an ITC-5 and it is seeing the depth transducer fine (solid LED, good readings on depth-boat is in the water). However, it is not seeing the wind and speed transducers. So I went about debugging things. I have two Axiom 9s, RMK-9, I70s instrument, ACU-400 autopilot w/ EV1 and p70, HS5, Quantum radar, and 650/100 AIS, Yellow ST1 to STng 5-port strip for legacy instruments. The legacy instruments are (1) ST60 analog wind, (1) ST60+ speed, and (1) ST60 depth. All legacy instruments were working properly prior to the new ITC-5 but were not feeding any data into the STng system through the yellow conversion block, which is why I just purchased a bunch of new ST50 and ST60 instruments to bring everything into the STng system. We've put a thousand or so miles on the boat since August 2017 and everything on the STng network was/is working fine.
1) To start the debug, I downloaded and installed all peripheral software and confirmed my Axiom 9s have the latest updates.
2) Ran all the various check systems in the i70s to make sure it was seeing transducers (it only saw the depth, saw ITC-5 for wind, but no data, didn't see anything for speed).
3) Are Airmar speed transducers sensitive to cable length? Ours is fed into a system run and I had to extend the far end by 5 meters or so with a soldered connection and shrink tube on the individual wires at the splice (plus shrink tube over the total splice).
4) The LEDs on the ITC-5 are not helping to debug things and I believe Raymarine should address this. The backbone light stays lit solid, which is good. Depth stays lit solid which is good. All other LEDs flash intermittently. This happens regardless of whether anything is plugged in to a particular family/strip of contacts.

Smart Controller Range

I would like to increase the range of the Smart Controller as it loses connection when I'm near the bow of the boat.

Is it possible to install multiple base stations for a single controller?

If not, are there any options/recommendations for increasing range other than trying to relocate the base station?

Create route in VoyagePlanner from clean chart

I managed to create a route in Voyage Planner, but if I want to create another route (an alternative in case weather, etc), over the same chart, I can't find a way to do so in a clean chart (previously created route remains there and can't be taken out).

Let me be clear, I don't want to remove/delete the prior route, I want to keep the existing routes in my files, but create new ones using a clean chart....

I tried opening another chart, but it also opens with the previously created route on it

Splice digital tach to chartplotter

I have had installed in the pilothouse two third party (Aetna Engineering) digital tachometers running from each of my Cummins 330 diesel engines. Can the wires be tapped to supply RPM data to my C-140 widescreen chartplotter and thence, via the ng backbone, to my new Raymarine ng instruments on the flybridge?

Seatalk Failure

Hi, I'm looking for advice to troubleshoot a Seatalk network . The system is comprised of the Following : RL80C and RL70C Plotter/Radar MFD's, ST8002 Pilot, S3G computer, ST60+ wind, ST 80 Masterview, ST60 multiview. The system has worked well for the 7 years I've owed the boat, but recently it went into Seatalk Failure and nothing works. I get the message "no data" on the multi view and "Seatalk Failure" on the autopilot control head. I believe all the devices are in working order and suspect wiring. It's a model year 2000 Catalina 470 and I don't know where all the various junctions are located in the boat. My approach has been to bypass devices and wiring to hopefully get it to start up properly and then one by one bring on devices to see where the fault lies. However, even with taking everything offline (as far as I can tell), it still will not start without Seatalk Failure. My method (probably incorrect) has been to unplug the Seatalk wire at the Computer, which I assumed powered all the devices (except MFD's). I then plugged in a single known working device (wireless smart pilot) and restarted. However, it still fails. In view of this can you suggest diagnostic steps I should follow to find the problem ?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I need a replacement for the ST6001+ control head. My auto pilot is the S2G smart Pilot E22167. I would like to use the P70R. Is that compatible with the S2G. I am already networked with these being my only remaining legacy equipment.

Thanks for your help.

Scroll Speed vs Boat Speed

$

Hi I was wondering if you have a chart that tells what the best scroll speed is vs boat speed for side and down imaging. I have noticed that on my Axiom I have to set the scroll speed to about 35% when slow trolling (0.5-1.0 MPH), which happens to match up to 70% scroll speed on my Dragonfly, at this speed objects appear and disappear off the screens at about the same rate.

At 100% scroll speed on the Axiom I found that I need to be going about 6 mph to get a good image.

Providing these charts would help a lot of users realize the detail these units can provide, and get much more satisfaction using the units.

Ice transducer options?

Hello all.
I am looking for any info about a ice transducer for my winter fishing. I am looking at the Dragonfly 5 Pro for this ice season.
My question, is there an optional ice transducer available for this unit?
I think the Dragonfly 5 would make a great upgrade to my “other brand” unit which has been acting up since new.
Any advice will be very appreciated.
Thanks,
Roy
