Limitations of information within product docs

While Raymarine product documentation is intended to provide information concerning the procedures for installation and use of its products, this documentation is neither intended to teach navigation, sailing, seamanship nor the associated terms. Information concerning these subjects may be found within publications addressing these subjects (ex. American Practical Navigator, Chapman Piloting & Seamanship, Getting Started in Sailboat Racing, etc.) and training available from organizations (ex. United States Power Squadrons , U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, BoatUS, US Sailing, etc.) and private enterprises dedicated to such training (ex. BoatWise, US Powerboating, etc.). Many Raymarine dealers additionally offer training in the use of Raymarine products.

autopilot keeps going into "No Drive"

My ST-70/SX30 autopilot keeps going into "No Drive". When I try to do dockside calibration it goes to Rudder Check and when turning hard to port it alarms and quits with a Rudder Feedback error.

Sometimes when I go back in again it gives a Rudder Angle screen instead of the turn and center. I don't know what angle to set it at.

How can it restore full range to the rudder and reset the center point?

Note: I had to do an emergency cable repair which didn't appear to affect the range of motion, but I'd like to get through dockside setup. The latest software was installed last summer.

S1/8002 Not holding Course

Last year, my system worked perfectly. Then I had my steering serviced and my rudder position sensor was left disconnected. This offseason I got everything reconnected and calibrated.

On my last trip, the autopilot engaged, but would not hold exact course. After 15-20 minutes it was off 20 degrees from my standard compass despite the pilot head showing the desired heading.

If it is relevant, my system used to fully disengage manual steering once the auto was engaged. Now, the manual system is not disengaged.

Any ideas on troubleshooting?

RD418HD Power Data Cable

Hello,

I have a new RD418HD and an A95 that I'm going to be installing this weekend. In reading the manual for the radar it says to keep the power run to be as short as possible. On my Jeanneau the A95 is going to be installed in the Helm station in front of the wheel. But to get there I have to go through a cable locker below the backs stay where the cable comes into the boat. But this is also where I will be bringing a 14 gauge three stand wire from the distribution panel. Does it make sense to split the data and power cable back to this locker or just run both wires to helm and splice the power there.

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks,
Jason

Raymarine Cable Identification

I pulled out a C80 classic, and a myriad of other items (GPS antenna, radar, etc) off my boat and replaced with new equipment.

I am trying to identify some of the left over cables in order to sell them, as some may be harder to find.

1) Twist on connector on one end (female with 5 holes, in an X layout), the raw cable side has a Black/White/Green/Yellow/Brown wire

2) Seatalk female (3 [censored]) push in connector on one end, other end is Red/Yellow/Metal raw wires.

3) Seatalk female (3 [censored]) push in connector on one end, other end is Red/Yellow/Black raw wires.

4) What is the model # of the radar power/data cable that would have gone from a C80 classic to the RD424 analog radar

I wish I had taken better notes when tearing the old stuff out. Is there a reference of all the seatalk style of wiring? I have pictures of the above if necessary.

What engine data

My newer boat has a mercruiser with "smartcraft" technology and there are multiple ways I can get the Merc stuff into my NEMA2K network. I would like to know if my a78 will give me fuel in GPH/MPG and a resettable fuel used value before I spend the money. There is one system they call MercMonitor that puts out the data. Can my a78 display it? Which screen from main?

Does Raymarine offer anything that will plug and play for the fuel data I request?
Thanks

SmartController Checksum Error

The remote was disconnected from power over the winter and recharged. In past years, this was not a problem. The battery was replaced a year ago.

This year, however, I get a message Checksum Error with a bunch of zeros. Then it says, Press Any Button. When I do, the screen goes blank and the remote is not responsive. Any advice?

I have the EV-1 wheel pilot system (EV-1, ST-4000 Mk2, P70, ACU-100) but do not have a multi-function display. (I am connected to a Garmin 4208 through NMEA-2000 for route info only.)

How can I do a software update of the EV-1?

Connect Dragonfly display to VHF radio???

Connect Dragonfly display to VHF radio???

Dragonfly displays supporting chartplotting functions are designed to support the requirements for an economic, entry level, stand-alone marine electronics product providing high performance fishfinding features and basic chartplotting capabilities. As Dragonfly displays are designed to be a stand-alone product, they do not feature the communications interfaces which would be found within a Raymarine Multifunction Display (ex. Axiom, a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs, etc.). As the Dragonfly displays do not feature communications interfaces it would not possible to interface a Dragonfly display to other marine electronics product (VHF radio, autopilot, external GPS sensor, etc. Should such integration be required of a display supporting CHIRP (conical) / DownVision fishfinder sonar imaging, then it would be recommended that an Axiom DV MFD, ax8 MFD, or eSx8 MFD. be purchased, as MFDs feature communications interfaces.

Just unpacked my new axiom 7 and I cannot get the dock to dock to work. Does this unit support it ? I want a chartplotter that does support this feature and it's the only reason I'm buying a new one.

fuel flow sensor options for raymarine MFD input

Looking for tried and true fuel flow sensor options. This is for older boats, usually sterndrive and inboard, that are carbureted and is obviously not networked. Had multiple customers ask me for this option. Trying to find best option and most economical means. Considering the Garmin GFS 10 fuel sensor. I like the fact that it hooks to analog gauge to read fuel level along with NMEA 2000 output for fuel flow. Should be able to use adapter cable A06045 devicenet female to plug into open slot in 5 way STng connector. Will have to extend nmea 2000 cable first, as it only comes with a 5 foot nmea cable. Any input would be appreciated.

C125 won't accept updates

I have tried to update my Raymarine instruments on three occasions. I have the following instruments installed:
C125
RD418HD
I70
Wind Instrument
ST6000+
Ray70 and remote

On the first try, I was able to update the radar, I70, and Ray70, but the update to the V14 did not occur. On the second occasion, I attempted to upload V17, without success. Just recently, I tried to upload V19, again without success. I have tried the updates both in power on mode as well as going through the set-up menu.

After reading your instructions to another user, I tried loading the Lighthouse chart in both slots. I was able to see the charts in both tries. I have tried to copy images of the files that I used but have been unable to do so. All three files show the same zip format.

The boat is in Racine, WI

Please advise.

Transferring data from third party chartplotter to Axiom & a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD

Transferring data from third party chartplotter to Axiom & a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD

Unlike Raymarine's Axiom and a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs (updated with v14.36 or later software) which support the more universally supported GPX waypoint/route/track file format, many third party chartplotting products utilize proprietary waypoint/route files formats. Customers seeking to transfer data from third party chart plotting products or third party navigational planning applications using proprietary waypoint/route/track file formats to these MFDs will generally use GPS Utility as it supports a very large number of proprietary waypoint/route/track file formats. HumminbirdPC (free to registered Humminbird product owners) or ReefMaster Lite would be recommended for Humminbird HWR files. As GPS Utility supports Raymarine's proprietary Archive.FSH used my many retired Raymarine MFDs, GPS Utility is generally recommended for those seeking such conversions. Similarly, GPS Utility will produce data files for third party chart plotting products and third party navigational planning applications using data from Archive.FSH files. If considering use of GPS Utility, it is strongly recommended that the demo version of GPS Utility or ReefMaster Lite be downloaded to confirm that it supports the file format(s) used by the third party chart plotting product(s) and third party navigational planning application(s).
