Help organizing shopping list and sequence

I am planning a total upgrade to my electronics systems and would like to do it over a couple years. Here is my current inventory:

C80 Classic MFD
ST290 Speed/Depth
ST7001+ Auto pilot
SL72 Radar
Ray 215 VHF
HD 250 DSM

My thought was to start with my VHF this season. Then next season replace the MFD. The following year I would replace the radar and/or auto-pilot. I had the Evolution on my last boat and loved it.

Can you recommend the best replacement for my VHF?

Also, my helm is constrained to a MFD having the roughly the same overall size as the C80 classic. What would you recommend there?

Does my order of replacement make sense?

Thanks

Dave

Smarter SD Card Software Update

Hi Chuck,

I recently updated my MFDs to 19.03. The update went smoothly but the SD card process is a bit cumbersome if, lime me, you like to keep a card in the MFD for waypoint and other data storage. The problem is that the MFD automatically installs whatever software is in the root directory of the card without any user interventions so after the update, the card must be removed, installed in a computer, the files moved to a subdirectory, and the card re-installed in the MFD. I would like to suggest the following:

1. If an SD card contains a software update that's either down-rev'd or the same version as currently installed on the MFD, the MFD should ask the user if they want to install it.

2. If the user doesn't respond to the prompt within 5-10 seconds, the MFD should ignore the software update and boot from the currently installed software.

3. Upon a successful software install, it would be very nice if the MFD would automatically create a dedicated subdirectory on the SD card and move the software update files from the root directory into the subdirectory.

All of the above would allow the user to download a software update onto an SD card, perform the update, and leave the SD card in place for future use without having to remove the card, move files using a separate PC, and re-install the card in the MFD.

Thanks.

SR100 and E125

Chuck,

Thanks for your assistance with troubleshooting my SR100 to E125 connection. I was able to pull the attached diagnostics page showing successful communication. My question is, do I now just call sirius with the listed serial numbers for each radio (weather and audio) and subscribe to each? Is the software listed for the SR100 the mist current? Am I able to control sirius radio channel selection via E125 or is a separate controller required?

Thanks in advance,
Shane

C-80 Replacement

My 2004 C-80 screen appears to have e been damaged. Starts up but has many lines through it.
What are my options for repair or a plug & play replacement? Are there any other older models that would be a suitable replacement that I could just plug & play and use with my existing radar and depth finder?

I am not really looking to do a complete upgrade?

HS5 + NMEA2K +

If I have read the threads correctly, I think I am on the right track. My plan is to tie all of my Raymarine systems (Radar, GPS, MFD's) into the HS5 Network Switch and then bring my NMEA data (AIS, Yamaha, VHF, Fuel Flow etc) into the NMEA port on my Master MFD.

My other idea was...Could you potentially tie the NMEA info into the High Speed port on the HS5 switch using the SeatalkNG to NMEA adapter?

Or is there a better solution?

Axiom #1 is my Chartplotter Radar
Axiom $2 is my Sonar

Any difference in which I choose as the master?

I have an older A70D that I will use as a back-up and could potentially tie into the net. It has a P58 Transducer hooked to that one and am thinking I might Y-out the connection and route my 50/200 info into my Axiom MFD as well. Do you see any benefit to this? I can always display that data on the A70D and do not necessarily need the additional sonar pic. I will use this as a back-up chartplotter as well, since it has Navionics too.

I now understand why Marine Electronic installers bill what they do. Glad most of my systems are new and compatible :)

Thanks again for all of the great info!!!

Dragonfly 6 Transducer Cable

I just installed a Dragonfly 6 on a Aqua Patio 220 DF and my XDCR cable is stretched to the limit. Is there an accessory cable that I can use as an extension? Even just a foot would help but three feet or a meter would allow me to reroute the cable in a less strained manner.
Thanks!

Connecting media to axiom

Hey I have a few questions regarding my Axiom 9 RV, 1 I want to purchase a Fusion radio with nmea2000 and connect it to my Axiom but I am curious if the Axiom will support Fusion radio app... If it does not support it is there anything I could do or any updates that I need to do to make it work? 2 is there any special marine stereos that would work with Axiom the way it is or do I need an update or what is the process for connecting a stereo to be controlled from the MFD itself

Support for Fusion stereos in LightHouse 3 software

Support for Fusion stereos in LightHouse 3 software

The initial release of LightHouse 3 software for Axiom MFDs does not feature support for integration with Fusion stereo systems. The initial release of LightHouse 3 software for Axiom MFDs includes support for Rockford Fosgate RMX-5 & RMX-8 stereo products. Our plan is to offer most, if not all of the capabilities of our LightHouse II software, in LightHouse 3. That being said, there are literally hundreds of different features that must be recreated on the new system and that takes a significant amount of time and testing.

Please click here more information concerning product and feature suggestions.

Interfacing a Rockford Fosgate stereo receiver to an Axiom MFD

Chapter 12 - Audio Application of the Axiom Advanced Operation Instructions provides details of how compatible Rockford Fosgate stereo receivers may be interfaced to an Axiom MFD. The Audio application may be used to remotely control a compatible Rockford Fosgate stereo receiver. Raymarine has designed and tested the LightHouse 3 software to be compatible with Rockford Fosgate's PMX-5CAN and PMX-8 Punch Marine AM/FM/WB Digital Media Receivers. In short, the Rockford Fosgate's PMX-5CAN and PMX-8 may be interfaced to Rockford Fosgate's PMX-CAN accessory to provide the PMX-5CAN and PMX-8 with a NMEA 2000 communications interface through which the MFD may communicate. The PMX-CAN may in turn be interfaced a spur to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone to which the MFD as also been interfaced as a spur. Raymarine offers the A06075 1m DeviceNet (F) to SeaTalkng Spur Cable and A06045 0.4m DeviceNet (F) to SeaTalkng Spur Cable to support interfacing third party products featuring a NMEA 2000 communications interface having DeviceNet Micro-C male plugs as a spur to a SeaTalkng backbone. Either of these two cables may be used to interface the PMX-CAN as a spur to the aforementioned backbone. A simple backbone may be constructed from the following components:

- A06064 SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector
- A06031 SeaTalkng Termination Plugs x 2
- A06049 SeaTalkng Power Cable
- an appropriate length of SeaTalkng Spur Cable of appropriate length to interface the Data Master MFD to the SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector
- A06045 or A06075 DeviceNet (F) to SeaTalkng Spur Adapter Cable to interface the PMX-CAN to the SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector.

New install system diagram review

Hi Chuck;
Purchased a i70s MFD with triducer and wind instruments, plus extra i70 display, and EV-100 wheel pilot system and am trying to put it all together. My installation doesn't seem to match up well with any of the system diagrams I've been able to find, so I wonder if you could verify my drawing for me?

I made 2 assumptions:
1. The ACU can plug directly into the 5-way SeaTalkng connector
2. The ITC-5 can be used in the MIDDLE of the backbone. (in every diagram I saw, it was a terminator)

Can you please confirm that this should work?

Thanks,
Andy

Interfacing an RL70crc plus to AC400

Hello,

I would like to upgrade my old S1G/ST6002 autopilot to the new AC400 Evolution corepack and p70 control head. My existing Pathfinder radar and RL70crc plus works just fine and I have no desire to upgrade those components. Can the AC 400 receive waypoints from the RL70 assuming I install the SeaTalk/SeatalkNG converter? Also, my Pathfinder recieves NEMA 0183 5hz heading data from the S1G for MARPA, is equivalent functionality available from the AC400? If so, how do I interface that?

Rudder Reference Reversed

After installing the v19 update my rudder indicator is reversed. This happens every time I do an update. In the past I followed the instructions to reverse the reading. The new v19 instruction explains how to correct this. However, when following the directions, when you get to the final step the option to reverse the reading isn't there. So, can I just switch the red and green wires from the reference unit so I won't have to deal with this every time I do an update?

I got my new boat a year ago and the dealer installed a es127 with a transducer. Not sure which one. I have learned that its different then the es128. Should I had gotten the es128? I am having a hard time spotting fish. Should I look to add another transducer? Everything else works great just not happy with the fish finder !

Thanks

Raymarine Axiom Dashboard

First, I want to begin by stating I am a novice. I have my Axiom hooked up and the Basic & Advanced Manuals printed. Unfortunately, I don't think the Advanced Manual goes into as much detail as needed for the Dashboard app. Is there an explanation of the acronyms on the Dashboard App pages. Obviously, some of the pages are self explanatory such as the Tanks, Time, and Fuel pages. Some of the Acronyms I'm not familiar with like COG, SOG, DTE, BTW, DTW, AWA, VMG, and TWS. Is DTW - Distance to waypoint? Others like kts - knots, wpt - waypoint, eta - estimated time of arrival are familiar.

Thanks.

L770 Replacement

Good morning,

Replacing the L770 , DSM 250 and B744v system. Can the existing transducer be directly connected to the A127 or ES127 using an adapter cable? Cable part number if so? Can an A127 or ES127 be used with a chirp transducer using a separate DSM if later on the decision is to go chirp? Is side scan available for these units? Thank you.
