RV-220 Transducers

How close can the RV-220 Transducer be installed to the CPT-120 Transducer?

Does the RV-220 Transducer need to be installed in a pair?

My boat has a 20 degree deadrise. If I install a RV-220S, will I only get side scan on one side of the boat or only effective in deeper water?

Radar cable resistance test

Hi Chuck,

Measured the Radar cable resistance per your instructions. The radar is analog and I use mfd e120 classic.

Paired measurments

video - White and black - 47 kohms
azimuth - violet and Grey - open circuit
trigger - orange and yellow - 9.47 kohms
data i/o - green and blue - 114 ohms

We went trought a rough passege across the Florida staight and the radar anthena is mounted on a scan view self leveling mount, which may have disconected/chaffed the violet/gray wires. if the connections are ok, can the radar antenna be serviced/repaired?

Updating older Raymarine components

Hi Chuck -
I'm also looking to upgrade electronics on my 1995 SeaRay500DA. Oldest piece of equipment is the Raytheon R40XX Radar. Newest it the RS130 GPS with the STng adapter. Mfd is E120. Two xducers. The B60-200-RAY feeds a DSM300, and a DST800P-S connects to the mfd thru an adapter. Corepack is Raymarine S-3. Also at the helm is a Raypilot 650 and Tridata S60. Fluxgate compass connects to S-3.Heading Sensor ST80 is not connected.
I don't do any fishing - mostly cruising around the Great Lakes. My guess is that I would start with a replacement mfd, but it seems the Axiom is over kill for my use. Thanks in advance for your help.

How Do I Update Lighthouse Charts

I have two eS127 units, usually running Navionics charts. One of the units came with Lighthouse charts so I have those as a backup. How do I update the Lighthouse charts and how often do you recommend that I do an update?

Thanks, Hube

Radar (MARPA) target alarm in heavy need of improvement

$

System: Quantum and es98, but I experienced the same with a e7 and 418HD some years ago.

I find MARPA and the Radar Target Alarm feature very hard to use because:

1. I cannot switch the alarm off (unlike with AIS target alarm).

Sometimes I want to acquire MARPA targets only out of curiosity in near distance. After I did that, the alarm sounds. So in fact I cannot use MARPA in near distance at all.

2. The biggest problem is that the alarm goes on again and again and again for each target. There seems no way to acknowledge an alarm for a specific target so that it does not go on again.

This is quite annoying and renders the MARPA feature nearly useless.

Proposals:

a) Allow me to disable the alarm completely.

b) Allow me to mute the alarm for a configurable amount of minutes. That would be very useful for alarm areas, too.

c) If possible: allow me to acknowledge an alarm for a specific target so that it does not goes on again.

Thanks!

Alerion 26 Speed Depth Transducer Choice

I just purchased an Alerion 26 built by Carroll Marine. The current depth transducer is on the centerline near the bow, faired in to give a vertical beam. The current speed transducer is mounted on the port side, a foot or so aft of the depth unit, opposite the side in the photo. The deadrise at that point appears to be around 50 degrees. It does not appear to me that a DST800 transducer would be usable for my application. Am I right?

Quantum radar data cable length

We are installing an a series MFD with our new Quantum radar and are using both power and data cables. Is there a simple extension data cable for the 10m data cable supplied that will plug in to the 10m cable, or do we need to purchase a new and longer continuous cable?

Need advice on upgrading electronics

Currently I have an integraded system with ST6001 auto helm, RL80C, C80, and the DSM 250 on a 25ft CC boat. I believe the last upgrade was in 2006. Can this equipment be integraded with newer equipment or do i need to replace all to upgrade the sonar. The local technician is telling me that everything is too old. I am looking at the AXIOM 9. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Adding an Axiom MFD(s) to retired Raymarine MFD(s)

Adding an Axiom MFD(s) to retired Raymarine MFD(s)

Unfortunately, Raymarine MFD designed introduced prior to Raymarine's a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs may not be interfaced to an Ethernet (SeaTalkhs/RayNet) network which also features an Axiom MFD(s). While it is possible to interface the Axiom MFD(s) to a common SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone to which a retired Raymarine MFD has also been interfaced (may require a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter(s)), communications between the Axiom MFDs and the retired MFDs would be limited to alphanumeric, GPS, instrument, navigational, and system status data between these systems. Correspondingly, it is not possible for the retired MFDs to share graphical data such as cartography, radar, fishfinder, or Sirius Marine Weather with an Axiom MFD.

Should full functionality dual station or multi-station capability be desired, then it would be necessary to replace the retired MFD(s) with a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs (following the release of LightHouse 3 software for a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs) or an additional Axiom MFD(s). Any combination Axiom and a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs (following the release of LightHouse 3 software for a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs) may be installed within a network of Axiom MFDs and a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs.

I am interested in the Wi-Fish for use on a pontoon boat on a lake with a maxim depth of 15 feet and an average depth of 4-6 feet.
Will this product pick up enough area of the bottom to be useful?

Do you have a graphic that will depict the coverage angle at various depths?

Thanks!

Voyage Planner Waypoint download files

$

Sirs:
I have been periodically downloading copies of my waypoint files from my GS125 MFD’s and my C125 MFD (different boats)to Voyage Planner. Initially the files transferred from my msd card to Voyage planner were complete list of the waypoints in the file. I would usually display the latest, but could search the old list as well. Recently only waypoints that are new and not previously transferred will be transferred even with a new file name. I can work around this limitation by going through another waypoint backup program that saves in .dbx and reconvert to MPX and then import, but I think there must an easier way. Of concern mainly would any future need to use Voyage Planner’s waypoints to populate my machines should my backup card be corrupted or lost. It can be hard not to get back the many deleted waypoints, and having to deal with multiple files to get a complete up to date waypoint list to upload as I generally save after any trip.
I am using:
Voyage Planner Version 1.3.0.11
Windows 10 on a MAC with Parallels(little slow but works well)
Navionics Chart

PS When are you going to add House voltage (or MFD input line voltage) to your Lighthouse program. It would certainly be convenient to have it in your data screen or data bar. I note others have ask for this also.

Dragonfly 5 Pro sonar log file problem

My DF5Pro is configured to save sonar logs (set to ON in chart options). But when I log into my Navionics acct to upload sonar logs, only the last hour or so of the last trip is actually uploaded. I typically fish for 4-6 hrs per trip, and only upload to Navionics once or twice per month. So what is happening to the other 40+ hrs of sonar logs?

In trying to troubleshoot this problem I looked at the files on the bundled Navionics+ chip. But I don't know what files are supposed to be there so it's hard to know if I am missing something. Can you provide some guidance on why my DF5PRO is not logging or uploading bathymetric data properly?

Thanks

Jim

EV-150 - Install

$

I received my EV-150 this week and installed it today. I called tech support before I installed to make sure that I had all the necessary cables and connectors. When I talked with the technician they said that the EV-150 would provide power to the Satalk network. So I was like - great - I have all the necessary cables. When I got to my boat- I installed and found out that the EV-150 does NOT power the network. The EV-200 has a switch and the EV-100 doesn't. So the EV-150 is like the EV-100. I jumped power from the Power to the EV-150 to the Seatalk cable connector since I didn't have the necessary cables and it worked. So until I order the necessary cables - I got it to work.

Thought I would share my situation for others. The EV-150 is not in any documentation.
Thanks,
Brett

I have at60 wind display with a windvane on the mast. I am not sure how old the transducer is. have attached a picture of the connector at the top of the mast. The questions is can I plug the current shipping transduce into the connector. I do not want to replace the cable or connector in the mast.

NOFIX from GPS through seatalk converter

$

The setup is a legacy seatalk network with a C80 MFD, five ST60 instruments, and autopilot. Connected to this network through a seatalk to seatalkng converter was an RS-130 GPS. The only device connected to the converter is the GPS via a spur cable. The converter is powered directly with the standard red power cable and blanking plugs are installed in the backbone plugs. The yellow seatalk cable is connected to the legacy seatalk network with yellow and screen(ground) connected, but red(power) not connected.

We were getting intermittent NOFIX messages on the MFD. Eventually, we got continuous NOFIX. The diagnostic LED on the GPS showed continuous red/orange with only an occasional blink. On the advice of Raymarine support the GPS was replaced with a new RS-150 unit. Still nofix. The diagnostic on the RS-150 is two quick red flashes. It never finishes booting/acquiring. The two quick flashes continue indefinitely. Diagnostics on the converter are two long flashes followed by a few short flashes, then eventually it settles into continuous flashes of same length.

Things I have tried:

1. Replaced the spur cable to the GPS - no change.
2. Unplugged the yellow seatalk cable from the converter. Diagnostic lights on the converter change, but GPS still does not boot.
3. Checked voltages at seatalk converter - 13.4v
4. Checked voltages on red wire on seatalk network in several places - 13.4v
5. Checked voltages on yellow wire at several places - 12v alternating to 8-11v. Seatalk ST60 instruments appear to be communicating correctly.
6. Disconnected each of the components on the legacy seatalk network - no change.

What does the diagnostic of two quick red flashes on the RS-130 mean? It is not listed in the manual.

Could the seatalk converter be bad? and how to diagnose that?

Any other suggestions on troubleshooting this problem?

Waypoint text size on chart and radar screen

On my es78 mfd with Lighthouse 17.45 software, I have a hard time reading waypoint names on the chart or radar screen because the text is small with a thin, light blue font. I haven't found a means to adjust text size, so thought I'd ask.

Related to the above I was also looking for a way to pan and zoom on the radar screen just like on the chart screen so I could better see the waypoints. Does that capability exist?

Voyage Planner

Based on your recommendation (Thread: Upgrade or Alternative Solutions in this forum), I went ahead and purchased the Voyage Planner.

The software is slow to load the NOAA ENC charts, and it displays the charts "patchy". (See attached screen grab.)

I have already checked both ‘Auto Quilt’ and ‘Autoload Charts’ in settings in an attempt to improve it, but to no avail.

Please let me know how to fix this.
