I would like to replace my old E80 with the 12 inch Axiom can I use my existing Airmar M260 in hull transducer with the new unit. It is currently connected through
a DSM 300?
If so can it connect directly or does it still need to go through the DSM?

Hi I have just hooked up my new Ev400 and the supplied P70S control head. The acu powers the I 70s. The drive unit is an octopus and I have connected the clutch and motor lines. The boat is presently sitting on the hard. When I power the acu up the instruments come on and the p70s comes on. The p70s indicates NO PILOT. Is this normal until I do the commissioning?

New equivalents to the C and E series MFDs?

I have 2 c95 MFDs that are networked together along with several other accessories. I would like in the future to replace 1 or both with an MFD that has the hybridtouch technology. The new series of MFDs (Axiom, A, Ee, Gs, etc) has me confused. Which are equivalent in functionality to the previous E series like the e95? I am hoping that I can just remove the old unit and drop in the new unit without having to change all the cables and networking accessories.

e127 Fishfinder No Transducer Connected

I have an e127 with a B744VL transducer connected. It is a two year old installation software ver 17.45. It worked well for almost two years and then became intermittent.
Now it will not stay on reporting depth.
When it is started a "No Transducer Selected" message comes up. I press the select transducer button but the unit does nothing when B744VL in selected.
When I reset the sounder the unit begins scrolling and correctly finds the depth. This lasts just long enough for me to select the B744VL transducer. The unit works properly for about 15 seconds and then a message comes up " No Transducer Connected. Connect a Transducer and restart the unit". This is very repeatable.
I have verified the cables are in good shape. I have used contact cleaner on the connectors for the transition connector cable between the B744VL and the e127. Using a magnifying glass the connectors look to be in great shape.
The Speed and Temperature functions have never worked on the B744VL even when it was on the old RL80C Plus.
Thank you,
Dave Frye

Frequent No Pilot Alarms

Attached jpg shows the system set up.
Q1 :
Problem is that the auto pilot SPx10 very frequently alarms No Pilot on both p70r display and MFD, very annoying. It lasts from 15 sec to 1min or so, then it is good for a while again, can be 15 min or less.

Q2:
Have been thinking of upgrading software on MFD to allow for Autorouting, would that still work with SPx10 once I get it to be reliably working.

i am replacing my current MFD (E80) with a es127. I have a recent digital radar (2013) and understand it will connect to the new unit via an adapter (#A80247). I have purchased a SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk ng adapter (#e22158). do I simply plug the cable marked SeaTalk high speed which was in the E80 into the adapter and then use another cable to plug into the es127 from the adapter? Any on-line diagrams you could suggest would help.

Dragonfly 7" fish about 20 inches long from sonar image?

Dragonfly 7" fish about 20 inches long from sonar image?

I captured this fish lying on the lake bottom of 8 feet deep with my dragonfly 7 chirp fishfinder. I zoomed into water column between 4 feet and 8 feet. The fish is taking about 25% of the screen. I know my sonar covers 5 feet diameter circle cone for every 3 feet of water.

Am I correct about my calculation of the fish size?

25%*(8-4)*5/3=1.67 feet or 20 inches?

Help with Depth reading

I have a dragonfly pro 5, just over 1 month old. It has been updated with the latest updates. On one of my last outings, I lost gps tracking and the depth reading turned to vertical lines scrolling across the screen. I thought there was some interference from sand, so I cleaned out the mount location. Took the kayak back again and still had the same problem with depth reading. In the pic included, I was in 4 - 6 feet of water and stationary. Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem?

Cam210IP Installation

I am investigating installing the 210IP Camera into our current system. The system has a HS Network Switch with available RJ45 ports. MFD's are es127 and an eSeries.

Cable Run is about 30 ft.
1. Can I run shielded RJ45 male to Male cable from the HS Network Switch to the Camera?
2. Should I run 16 gauge Red/Black Power Cable?
3. Will the pigtail on the camera connect both the RJ45 and the Power Cable?
4. Should I have a separate power switch for the camera?

Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank You

Interface EV-100 Sail to Raymarine wind transducer

Hi

I have a small sailboat with an EV-100 Sail (wheel) Autopilot. I want to acquire a wind transducer so I can use the autopilot to stay at the same wind angle not just a compass course.

I cant figure which model to get and how this connects to the ACU-100 or the P70 - it's unclear to me how SeaTalk network works here.

Thanks for any help!

Radar Overlay

My e125 and HD radome do not overlay radar on the main chart screen.

But the radar overlays on split screen pages, such as CHART/RADAR, CHART/FISHFINDER, CHART/ANYTHING ELSE.

It just does not appear on the main chart.

All charts on the same distance setting.

What am I doing wrong?

autopilot random wandering

I have an S2G course computer with a ST600l helm controller.
It has been working fine for several years.
The rudder sensor unit was replaced a couple of years ago.
The last 2 trips it has worked for most of the day traveling at
least 100 miles on each trip. That is until toward the end of each trip.
At that point, it starts randomly changing course. 15 -20 degree changes.
It isn't sending any error messages to the helm controller.
It seems to work fine on the trailer. I set a course with the mfd, then lock it
in to "track" as I've always done. The autopilot does what it's always done at that point. That's on the trailer.
What should I check before I put it in the water and attempt to trouble shoot this
seemingly intermittent problem?

P70s and old ST6000+ Autopilot

Hi, hope you can help.

I want to upgrade my Raymarine system (Pathfinder radar and Plotters, ST60 Instrument heads) but can't do everything yet.

I would like to fit an a95 or a125 MFD and i70s and p70s instrument heads. I know my pathfinder analogue radar won't talk to the digital MFD so will keep the radar linked to the old RL80C as a standalone for now.

My autopilot has a Type 300 Course Computer talking to a Type 2 Hydraulic Linear Drive, 2005 vintage (and can also switch over to a Rotary drive as a back up).

My questions are:-

1 Can my old Type 300 course computer link to the P70s via converters etc? I have read that you can't link the computer directly via a Seatalk/Seatalk ng converter but must instead make an nmea connection to the mfd. I understand from the forum that perhaps you now can. The comments I read did not relate to a course computer as early as mine though.

2 If the answer is No, and I update now to an Evolution autopilot will it talk to my hydraulic Linear drive? I understand that messages are nmea but my old unit would have been 0183 and I imagine the new ones are nmea 2000.

If I can delay upgrading my autopilot until later I will, but if I need to do it now I would rather not have to change the expensive linear drive as well.

Your advice would be much appreciated!

Many thanks

S1/S1G/S2/S2G/S3/S3G autopilot drifting off course

S1/S1G/S2/S2G/S3/S3G autopilot drifting off course

It is recommended that troubleshooting begin with :
- inspecting the location of the fluxgate compass for objects which may expose the fluxgate compass to a magnetic field
- inspecting the autopilot course computer to ensure that it has been installed in a vertical orientation to a bulkhead per the installation instructions
- inspecting the location of the autopilot course computer for objects which may expose the autopilot course computer to a magnetic field
- determining the maximum deviation which had been detected by the autopilot during calibration ... if greater than 9.9 degrees, then the fluxgate compass or object(s) producing magnetic fields must be relocated and the autopilot compass re-calibrated
- testing the autopilot's fluxgate compass
- ensuring that the autopilot compass has been properly aligned and is reporting the correct magnetic heading at all cardinal and intercardinal points of the compass
- when turning the vessel in a continuous slow circle, verify that the heading similarly change in continuous / uninterrupted manner ... failure to do so would typically be indicative of a failing fluxgate compass

Should all of the above be satisfied, then the reported symptom may be indicative of a failing gyro (see photo below) within a S1G, S2G, or S3G Autopilot Course Computer. Unfortunately, parts and service are no longer available for S1/S1G/S2/S2G/S3/S3G Autopilot Course Computer. However, should the gyro's (mounted to processor board) plug be unplugged form the processor board, then the S1G, S2G, and S3G autopilot course computers will operate as non-gyro assisted autopilot course computers (i.e. S1, S2, S3), potentially buying the operator additional service from the autopilot.
