NOTE: As the colors of the NMEA 0183 leads of combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceivers differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and often from model to model, it will be necessary to consult your combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceiver's installation/operation guide to determine the colors of its leads supporting the following:
- 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 IN+
- 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 IN-
- 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 OUT+
- 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 OUT-

----------------------

On the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD to which the NMEA 0183 combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceiver will be interfaced, configure the MFD's Port 1 for 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 communications (HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->NMEA SET-UP->NMEA INPUT PORT 1:->AIS 38400). The NMEA 0183 Port 1 leads of the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD's Power/NMEA 0183 Video Input Cable will be interfaced to the NMEA 0183 leads of the combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceiver as follows:

- MFD NMEA 0183 Port 1 OUT+ (yellow) lead to combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceiver 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 IN+ lead
- MFD NMEA 0183 Port 1 OUT+ (brown) lead to combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceiver 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 IN- lead
- MFD NMEA 0183 Port 1 IN+ (white) lead to combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceiver 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 OUT+ (blue) lead
- MFD NMEA 0183 Port 1 IN- (green) lead to combination DSC VHF radio / AIS transceiver 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 OUT- (brown) lead

too much signal on my Dragonfly 5 Pro

Hi,

I get too much signal on my newly installed Dragonfly Pro 5 Pro (see attached pictures). It does not look as a correct behavior and I am looking for an advice to what might be a cause and how to fix it.

Notes:
- it is installed on a kayak (transducer is in depression in hull and wire goes up the scupper h-ole)
- I've added some di-electric grease on a plug that goes into the unit
- transducer is fixed in place using hot glue gun (as seen on picture below)
- default settings were used (gain/contrast=auto, noise filter=0%)
- as you could see transducer is not "professionally installed" and is not precisely parallel to kayak. But when you paddle it does not move in straight line anyway...
- I think this noise got worse after I've updated firmware to latest version (but this could be just my imagination)
- I've also attached syslog -- it contains few error messages, but I lack knowledge to interpret them

P.P.S. Added missing syslog

Autopilot heading display units can't be reset

I have a Raymarine ST70. I had a constant disparity between my Ritchie compass and the Autopilot heading displayed of about 25 degrees. I have been able (by removing a metal step and multiple other items around the fluxgate) to narrow this disparity to 16 degrees. My E120W chartplotter and the AP are both set to display Magnetic. Because the variation here (Seattle) is about 16 I decided to check the settings in the AP. It was set to Mag so I reset it to true to see if the disparity would double. After the reset I observed the AP heading and it remained labeled as Magnetic and the numbers had not changed. I rechecked the units in the setting mode and confirmed it was set to true. When I backed out again the display remained as before.
Is this a known failure mode or does it suggest some other error? I am about to undertake a lengthy trip and would appreciate having an operative--and trustworthy-- Autopilot.
The COG on the E120W and handheld binocs with compass reading both agree with the Ritchie numbers

Additional product updates included within an a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD update file

As of v12.26, the Raymarine a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software update zip files now include software update files to update many other, but not all, Raymarine products which have been interfaced to the MFD via an Ethernet or SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 network. Upon opening the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software update zip, you will find a series of text (.txt) files containing release notes. Some of these have been listed below:
- ray_Adapters_yyyymmdd_ReleaseNotes.txt
- ray_Fishfinders_yyyymmdd_ReleaseNotes.txt
- ray_Instruments_yyyymmdd_ReleaseNotes.txt
- ray_Pilots_yyyymmdd_ReleaseNotes.txt
- ray_RadiosNoHandsets_yyyymmdd_ReleaseNotes.txt
- ray_RMK-9_yyyymmdd_ReleaseNotes.txt

Note: yyyy - year; mm - month; dd; day

These ReleaseNotes text files may be opened and viewed with Notepad. They contain information concerning the specific products and corresponding version of software included within the corresponding .iso file.

After updating the software of the system's a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs, the Data Master MFD may then be commanded to determine whether the software update memory card contains a later version of software than is found within the device(s) within the system. The command sequence for doing so is HOME->SET-UP->MAINTENANCE->CHECK CARD FOR UPDATES. Devices having an older version of software installed within them will be identified and the operator will be provided an option to install the latest product software updates within these devices.

CAM200 Wideangle Adapter

I have a CAM200 mounted as a rear cam on a SeaRay DA510. The angle of view is very narrow and is unable to show the full width of the aft. Is there a wide-angle adapter available for the CAM200? There's a threaded collar on the glass cover so I assume that is designed to receive filters and adapters.

Thanks in advance.

RD418HD mounting info

I have a RD418HD mounted directly to a hard top with no mount. My customer would like to mount a LED light bar in front of the dome. The question I have, what is the maximum height of equipment mounted in front of the dome without interfering with the radar beam. When I have opened earlier dome designs the array seamed to be in the top have of the dome leaving the lower half free to mount equipment i.e. light bars or horns. Is there a drawing available that shows this information.
The Light bar that he is looking at measures 4" high.

Thanks
George

Hi,
I have been some troubles to install Airmar R109C LHW with CP570 module.
The problem is the R109 comes with bare wire cables and CP570 needs a 11 pin connector.
So I bought a Raymarine 11 pin extension cable # A102150 and cut it to get some cable with the connector, but I don't find the Raymarine 11 pin wiring diagram to connect it with R109 bare wire.
Please I need some help
Thanks

DSM 30 Sounder - B117 Transducer Issue

I have a customer with a C90W (v2.20), DSM 30 (v4.20) and B117 transducer (E66014). There are two issues:

1. Even though the fishfinder display shows a good bottom lock, the depth data window shows no depth reading.

2. When the system is first powered up, the transducer selections do not include the B117 as an option. After a DSM reset is performed, the B117 does show as an option and can be selected. Not sure if these issues are related.

I've uploaded pictures of these.

Thanks for your help.

I am replacing my Smartpilot with a new EV-400 Sail autopilot. I have an E 80 MFD as a data master connected to a E 120 MFD as a repeater through seatalk hs. My st60 instruments and gps are connected to the E 80 seatalk 1. AIS with a dedicated gps is connected to the NEMA 183 on the E 80. I have a NEMA 2000 backbone connected to the seatalk 2 port on the E 80. My question is can I install the EV-400 autopilot with the seatalk ng backbone then connect the seatalk ng to the NEMA 2000 and leave everything else as it is? Will I get heading data from the autopilot to the E 80?

Getting prepared to take the plunge on purchasing the A98 MFD. Am hopeful but doubt it will communicate with my old stuff that came with boat. Raytheon R10XX radar? SportPilot+ autopilot? Just curious if possible. Thanks-Jim

Adapting / repairing / splicing transducer cables

Raymarine neither recommends nor supports adapting transducers which have been designed for use with third party fishfinding products. Similarly, Raymarine neither recommends nor supports adapting instrument depth transducers for use with Raymarine's fishifnding products. Such adaptation / repair / splicing is neither recommended nor supported, as spliced fishifnder transducer cables typically yield poor fishfinder imaging / performance and may result in damage to the interfaced fishfinding product.

Raymarine's fishfinding sonar products should be used with the corresponding fishfinder transducers found here

Seatalkng/NMEA2000 Power

I am just finalizing a new dual MFD Raymarine system using two es128 MFDs. I have also installed a Maretron NMEA backbone system to support monitoring all the engines, weather, etc. My first question is this, I believe the Maretron cables are of heavier gauge wire and therefore a lower power loss. So should I be powering the entire NMEA2000/SeatalkNG system from the Maretron or Vice versa?

Second question is since Raymarine does not make a 183 to 2000 converter am I safe to assume I can use the 183 interfaces at both MFDs to connect to my ICOM VHF and SSB Radios.

My first try was powering the NG/2000 buss through the SeatalkNG and connected my third party Class A AIS via the SeatalkNG/NMEA2000 adapter but I was not getting all the AIS data sent to the MFDs. The unit is an AllTec.

Replacement for E85001 PC/SeaTalk/NMEA 0183 Interface Module

$

The E85001 PC/SeaTalk/NMEA 0183 Interface Module was retired several years ago, and Raymarine has not introduced a replacement for this device.

For applications where the system additionally includes a Raymarine MFD which has been interfaced to the SeaTalk instruments, GPS, etc., the Raymarine MFD will function as a SeaTalk to NMEA 0183 data bridge. Correspondingly, the MFD's NMEA 0183 interface may be used to interface the MFD to other NMEA 0183 devices.

For applications where the system does not additionally include a Raymarine MFD which has been interfaced to the SeaTalk instruments, the following options may be used to bridge SeaTalk to NMEA 0183:
- disconnect the SeaTalk bus from its present power source; interface the SeaTalk bus to a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter; interface the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter to a SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1-ISO-STNG, etc.)
- install a Brookhouse NMEA 0183 Multiplexer w/SeaTalk option

Radar mounting height / angle

$

The vertical beam angle of a radomes and open array radar scanners is 25 degrees (12.5 degrees above and 12.5 degrees below horizontal). Failure to account for this vertical beam angle may cause radiated energy to be directed into the hard top or cabin roof, reducing radar performance. Installing the radome or open array radar pedestal on a mount which increases the height of the radome or open array radar pedestal above the hard top or cabin roof may permit the radome or open array radar pedestal to be installed further back from the forward edge of the hard top or cabin roof. Use of such mounts may also assist reducing interference or blind spots caused from other objects installed on the hard top or cabin roof.

Finally, when installing a radome or open array radar pedestal, bow rise angle should be noted. The aft end of the radome or open array radar pedestal may then be shimmed to compensate for bow rise angle that the boat would typically experience at the boat speed at which radar is expected to be most frequently used.

Boat 1 was non issue. Bought e7D MFD with sounder from marine dealer and forwarded bill, bar code from box and documentation per instructions.
Boat 2 is more complicated. Combination is e7D and Evolution autopilot. Lots of mechanical bits and pieces, so using authorized Raymarine installer.
1) Boat is on the hard. It's winter in Canada right now.
2) Installer is working around weather and other jobs.
3) Work order has been issued and he has my deposit.
4) e7D and autopilot control head are being mounted in a pod and are at his shop being prefitted.
5) The drive, rudder position, ACU and sensor are on the boat. The drive is awaiting brackets etc but the ACU and sensor are physically mounted but not wired yet.
6) The installation won't likely be considered finished until the boat is launched and the system commissioned. The final bill will be issued at that time and will include his labour, brackets, wiring etc.
Questions. What do I need to submit the rebate claim for boat 2? Each piece has unique serial numbers. In addition to the stuff for the e7D MFD, do I need to submit the work order, the package bar codes for the ACU, head, drive unit, sensor or just the ACU which is basically the brains for the auto-pilot?
Thanks
Bob
