How do I remove the plastic fin from top of Dragonfly transducer?

Chuck -
I just got a new kayak with a "Lowrance Ready" hull. This will require some plastic surgery in order to fit my Dragonfly 5 Pro transducer into the Lowrance well and cover plate. That means that I must remove the vertical plastic fin that ordinarily connects the Dragonfly transducer to the transom mount. I don't recall if this unit came out of the box pre-assembled or if I slid the fin into the grooves on top of the transducer and it clipped in place somehow. At any rate, the vertical plastic fin does NOT want to simply slide off. I lubricated the slide joint and can get it to move back-and-forth 1-2 mm, but I don't want to force it without better understanding how these 2 pieces of plastic are held together so tightly. Is there some locking tab or trigger that I need to spring loose? How???

AIS 650 status

Is there anyway to set the status of your own vessel? When looking at my vessel it always says "Underway using engines" as opposed to "not defined" or "underway using sails"?

I've observed other vessels in my are that seem to be able to change their status.

I'm a sailboat and don't want all vessels to think I'm under power when I am not.

I have an eSeries MFD, 650 AIS, i70 instrument as well as ST60, SPX wheel pilot, DST 800 transducer, and SeaTalk NG converter.

Also, is there anyway to check your own status of what you are tranmitting through your AIS? That would seem to be an easy update for Raymarine to do as an update.

Thanks - Neal

Evolution autopilot, why no patterns for sailboats?

Why are fishing patterns disabled for sailboats in evolution autopilots? Most sailboats nowadays actually have auxiliary engines and are known to lower sails, when fishing or SAR operations. (And yes some of us fish from sailboats.) Patterns like zigzag, circle and search would be really great sometimes to have on sailboat as well.

If the concern is that accidentally turning on autopilot with fishing pattern could cause sailboats to accidentally gybe when sails are up, then it would be OK, to make it available through menu and special acknowledgment box as in: "Do you really want to do it and are your sails down?"

But currently, if I wanted to follow any pattern I would need to change boat type causing reset of all autopilot settings and need for full re-calibration. This is very inconvenient.

ES7 Autopilot Feature

Hi I have a ES7 MFD interfaced with my C120 classic and my Ray marine Autopilot vintage 2004. I have the autopilot feature turned on the ES7 and it brings up bar showing the autopilots- rudder angle and two buttons stdby and Auto to control the autopilot on/off from the MFD.
Is there another screen or setup on the MFD to also have the ability to change course like I have on the Autopilot display itself as (+/- 1 degree or +/- 10 degrees) ? If not is it something which could be added in the next update. Thanks

Any Plans For Glass Bridge Style VHF?

Your new ES series multifunction displays are very pleasing to the eye and I see you added the i70s instrument to match this. Are there plans to make a VHF and autopilot head in the same design in the near future?

Head-Up Won't Display on Es12

Hello,

I like to view my vessel's progress with the "Head-Up" option in the Lighthouse II charts. I can configure this option in virtually all of the pane configurations on both my Es12 and Es7 displays. However, on the Es12, I cannot get the Head-Up option to save when I try to view the chart in full screen. I go through the same process that has been successful in other panes, but the full screen chart on the Es12 (only) always reverts to North-Up.

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

ECI-100 with Dual Volvo D6 Diesels

I have been reading until my eyes can't take it anymore so please help me out here.

I have a pair of 2006 D6 Volvo diesels with EVC-C. The system communicates to 2, 4" Volvo multifunction displays which gives me all necessary engine info.

I will be upgrading my electronics to the newer ES series this winter and would like to be able to read engine parameters on the Raymarine system along side my Volvo gauges.

I have no multilink hub so I assume I need to purchase the Y loom as shown in your installation instructions. The problem I have is I cannot find literature for dual engine setup. Do I require 2 ECI-100 units and 2 looms or will 1 unit read both engines?

Any R4 Details?

Does anyone have more information on this R4 update? It appears that v.17 of the MFD software from May is R4 ready, but the Evo and sensor and P70s have to be updated. But the "Download Now" takes you to the v.17 download page. I can probably get the files I need, but I'm looking for some details on:

- 9-axis gyro stabilization of wind and navigation data
- Increased accuracy and responsiveness
- Evolution TrackIQ™ for tighter track-keeping and acquisition
- Improved interface and calibration

There's also the note "Enhanced integration with popular Autopilot Joystick Controller and solenoid drive systems." What joystick controller is this talking about? I'd LOVE to get a STNG joystick - is there such a thing coming?

AIS Connection Lost | C90W | IC-M506 | NMEA-2000

Hello,

We had a new RM system professionally installed last fall.

EV-200 Sail / T1 Linear drive with p70 head
I70 SailPack Depth/Speed/Wind
ITC-5,
2 - i70 display units
RD418 Radar
ICOM IC-M506 AIS VHF (connected to ITC-5)
C90W MFD
RS130 GPS

We have had significant problems with "AIS Connection Lost" alarms on the C90W running the latest v2.35 firmware. Every 10-20 seconds or so we have to reset this alarm.

The only way either my installer or I can find to stop this is of course, to disconnect the radio from the N2K bus. When it is connected, we do see AIS information on the i70 instruments and chart plotter.

Disconnecting the radio means it doesn't receive GPS information on the base or hand-held, nor can the radio or handheld show AIS information anymore.

Any ideas here?

EV1

My dealer installed an EV1 heading sensor to my Raymarine MFD 9" e series last year as when you went in certain directions everything was backwards. That solved the problem. My boat is a 2014 Monterey 340SY. I do not have an autopilot. I see you can download software updates for the EV1 but it sounds like that would only be if you had the autopilot? If that is so then I would not be able to do any kind of update to the EV1. Also does the EV1 need to be calibrated somehow each year or every so often? We installed it and it worked fine and I do not think we did any kind of calibration. This year the channel markers are a little bit off on my GPS so I was wondering if it needed to be calibrated. Monterey gave me this heading sensor for free to solve my issue but I did not get any instructions on calibrating. Maybe the manual is on line - I did not look. Also I am trying to remember if I had to tell my chart plotter that the heading sensor was present - I have looked in the manual on that but it only really talks about the heading sensor as it relates to an autopilot. I know you should not need this sensor for the chart plotter to work properly but it was the only thing that solved my issue as it had something to do with the 2 vessel views units (1 for each engine)
and Mercury did not have any fix for it. I still can't see speed over ground on the vessel views but it shows up on the raymarine. Not sure that has anything to do with my question on calibration but for some reason the vessel views and the raymarine do not work 100% with each other
Any help is appreciated.

Hi all. I bought a new ev100 and can t get it working. When I put it in auto, the wheel goes slowly hard over all the way.
I have no other add ons on the system. It's as basic setup as it gets. I have no idea where to start or what I have done wrong.. My compass adjustment was 3 degs.
When I used the 10+ or 10_ the wheels turns 30 degs.
Don t know where to start. I did a reset but have made the same program mistakes as before. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Rudder goes hard over when autopilot commanded into Auto or Track mode

$

The subject problem is typically caused by incorrect drive motor phasing or and incorrect rudder reference transducer phasing. Both of these items are typically verified/corrected as a result of executing the Dockside Wizard (Evolution autopilots) or Dockside Calibration procedure (older autopilots). Correction of motor phasing or rudder reference transducer phasing may be accomplished via the autopilot control head (Evolution autopilots) and/or changing the ACU or autopilot course computer motor and/or rudder terminals to which the drive motor and/or rudder reference transducer lead have been connected.

Should the vessel be fitted with a rudder reference transducer, then it should be tested prior to testing for motor phasing. While rudder references transducers are optional for the Evolution autopilot, they are necessary for the generations of autopilots which preceded the Evolution autopilots. Maximum autopilot performance will generally be achieved when an rudder reference transducer has been interfaced to the autopilot. Should an Evolution autopilot not be fitted with a rudder reference transducer, then it will perform as if it has a virtual rudder reference transducer when the vessel is underway and making good way. Accordingly, the Evolution autopilots which have not been interfaced to a rudder reference transducer will be unable to detect/indicate rudder movement when the vessel is stationary (i.e. dockside, anchored, moored, becalmed, etc.).

NOTE: the following test should be executed while the vessel is dockside, anchored, or moored.

During execution of the Dockside Wizard or Dockside Calibration should movement of the wheel in a clockwise direction or movement of the rudder to the right cause the rudder bar displayed on the autopilot control head to indicate left rudder was applied, then the rudder reference transducer phasing is incorrect for the orientation of the rudder reference transducer. In the case of Evolution autopilots, the command sequence MENU->SET-UP->AUTOPILOT CALIBRATION->DRIVE SETTINGS->REVERSE RUDDER REF may be executed to correct this behavior. Alternatively,
- the rudder reference transducer's red lead may disconnected from ACU/course computer RUDDER port's red terminal and may instead be connected to the ACU/course computer RUDDER port's green terminal; and
- the rudder reference transducer's green lead may disconnected from ACU/course computer RUDDER port's green terminal and may instead be connected to the ACU/course computer RUDDER port's red terminal.

NOTE: the following test should be executed while the vessel is dockside, anchored, or moored. When performing phase testing of the drive motor, the autopilot should be commanded from AUTO to STANDBY as soon as the direction motion wheel or rudder/drive resulting from the +10 command has been determined.

Failure to correctly phase the drive motor will result in the rudder/drive being moved in the direction opposite that which has been commanded. Accordingly, should the autopilot be commanded into AUTO mode and +10 degrees of heading change be commanded, then the wheel and rudder/drive should move clockwise and to the right respectively. Should the wheel and rudder/drive instead move left respectively, then the drive motor phasing is incorrect. In the case of Evolution autopilots, the command sequence MENU->SET-UP->AUTOPILOT CALIBRATION->DRIVE SETTINGS->MOTOR PHASING may be executed to correct this behavior. Alternatively,
- the drive motors A lead may disconnected from ACU/course computer MOTOR port's A terminal and may instead be connected to the ACU/course computer MOTOR port's B terminal; and
- the drive motors B lead may disconnected from ACU/course computer MOTOR port's B terminal and may instead be connected to the ACU/course computer MOTOR port's A terminal.

NOTE: Executing a Pilot Factory Reset (ex. MENU->SET-UP->AUTOPILOT CALIBRATION->COMMISSIONING->PILOT FACTORY RESET) command will cause accordingly reset the MOTOR PHASING and RUDDER REFERENCE phasing settings to be restored to the default settings. Should changes be made via the autopilot's control head to the MOTOR PHASING and/or RUDDER REFERENCE phasing settings, then these settings will be deleted when the Pilot Factory Reset is commanded, necessitating that these settings be reconfigured per the command sequences specified above.

E120 Classic Software Update

Recently received notification of Evolution Autopilot software update. It says that I need MFD software that at least R13+. Downloaded R17 but it is huge...900+meg to my computer. Don't think it'll fit on my 512meg compact flash. Noticed many items in the update that I do not have in my system. Do I delete those from the update? Do I have to get a larger size compact flash?
Thank you.

NMEA input to a78 MFD

I have a VHF that has an AIS receiver and I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to input that information to my a78 MFD. The a78 manual seems to tell me I can send NMEA data to my radio with a SeaTalk to NMEA converter but can not find info for how to receive NMEA output from an external source.

Does my MFD not have that capability?

Is there a schematic for the proper wiring of an RS 130 to my pathfinder series electronics .. RL80c -DSM250 - Auto pilot - L760- .. all are HSB2 plus units . What additional components do i need to install ? >>>>>> IN THE INTERIM > I found a schematic on the old forum ... I think I will be good .. my system does not use a R55006 so I need to figure out where they powered the older rs125 from .. I believe everything is spliced together .. so if you have any advice as to where I should start checking it would be appreciated..

Thanks

Electronics upgrade to eS95

I will be installing a eS95 at he helm of a sailboat. I currently have three ST60+ instruments D/S/W up next to the wheel. I have a Raystar120 on the stern and a TRIDATA down in the cabin. What is the maximum number of Seatalk devices that can be connected to the Seatalk to Seatalkng converter. Can I select which GPS data source to use in the system? The boat also has an old Pathfinder Radar that I would also like to connect to the seatalk buss to provide GPS data to the radar.

Thanks
