[TG11] SeaTalk 1 Integration to i50 Tridata

I am looking to replace an older ST60 Tridata instrument with the current i50 Tridata. The ST60 is currently powered via a SeaTalk 1 cable from a ST4000+ autopilot and from the ST60 Tridata it is further daisy chained to a ST50 wind via an E Series to SeaTalk converter cable.

Can I continue this power/data setup using a 3 pin SeaTalk/SeaTalkng adaptor from the ST4000+ to the new i50 Tridata and an ESeries/SeaTalkng adaptor from the i50 to the ST50 wind?

[TG11] Speed sensor problems at low speed with i70s and DST800

Hey there, I've got a DST-800 triducer connected to an ITC-5, and an i70s display. At normal cruising speed 5-7 knots everything is fine speed is pretty accurate if speed through water drops to below about 1.5 or 2 knots the speed shown starts fluctuating wildly. Sometimes even tied to the dock the speed shows 100 kts!

I've been looking for some kind of a low speed filtering option or other and can't figure a way to calibrate this out, it's annoying cause it throws the log way off. Anybody got ideas? Is this a sensor issue, software issue, setting issue?

I can not update to LH3 Cannes. The File is shown as corrupted.

The 2nd iso File for Cartography update normally.
Any tips here?

[LW11] Raymarine Element Suggestion for improvement

Hi, greetings from germany. I try my best that you understand what i need.

First the A-scope with auto depth range is not synced. If you drift over 5m to deeper water for example the a scope stays at 5 meter depth. This need to be fixed.

My suggestion is coloring water depth on your self recorded charts.

If i find zander for example on a edge with 6m i want to highlight this depth in a choosable color that i can easily see if i am located on my fishing ground.

Other chartplotter the helix for example have this feature included.

Is it possible to add this?

Next feature what i think would be really nice is configuration export to share settings with other fisherman. I have 2 friends which are using the element on the same water. Would be nice if you would be able to connect the element via wifi with your phone, export configuration and share it with others. Then just connect your mobile again and import configuration. Would be a nice improvement for factory reset because of a software Update as well.... save, update, restore, ready to fish...

Screen setup, sensivity, colormode and other options.

Is this possible as well?

Hi
I need to replace my c80 classic at the helm of my sailboat. It is connected to my e7d at the chart table via a ng converter and the ST 60 instruments also go that way.

If I replace the c80/analogue radome with an axiom9/and comp radome how well will it integrate with the e7d?
What radome is best for replacement?
Will I be able to see all info on both mfds?
Will I need two chart cards?
Is the a mounting adapter for the Axiom9 to c80 classic?

Display battery and tank data received via NMEA/Seatalk(ng)

Hi everyone,

My name is Alex and I am just about to enter into my 3rd season after upgrading my old MFD to an Axiom 12. At first I "just" enjoyed the graphics, the new maps, the 3D-sonar and the likes. Now it is about time for me to take things to the next level.

Current installation:
The dealer installed also a Philippi system for monitoring four tanks and one battery long with the Axiom and there are also two engine gateways, one for each engine. Both the Philippi system and the engine gateways are sending data that is received by the Axiom through Seatalk NG.

My short-term goals:
I would like to have more batteries monitored via shunts (i.e. not just the voltage but also current) not just the "consumer" battery. Certainly I want to cover also the two starter batteries and the bow thruster battery, potentially also the generator battery. All separately and with an individual shunt each. I am planning on using the currently installed Philippi shunt for the bow thruster, all other batteries are going to get their own Victron shunt and will be connected via a VE Cerbo. I am planning on sending the data from the Cerbo to the Axiom via Seatalk NG.


My questions:
I have looked at the documentation of the Axiom and other products currently installed but I just can't find all the answers to questions I currently have. I don't expect you guys to do my work for me, please if you could just point me in the right direction where to find the info I need, that would be great.


1) Config page for batteries, tanks and engines
I found a page for things like depth, GPS and the like where you can search for available sources and select the source you want for the respective type of data, say for the depth. That's good. I just can't find that same page for batteries, tanks and engines. I guess I have to go to that page, select the input source for tank data (for instance) so I will then be able to use that data on dashboards etc.. Where are these pages or am I missing something?


2) multiple sources for the same entity
what if I have more than one "sensor" sending data on the same thing, say a battery. Where can I say which source I want to use and that I want to ignore the others (probably answered by 1) above already?)?

3) rename a battery or tank
how can I rename a battery or tank for which the data is received via Seatalk NG?

4) disappearing data
while the engine data is showing fine for both engines in (near-)real-time I have an issue with the data from the Philippi system, i.e. the 4 tanks and 1 battery. when I go to the dashboard with the overview of all tanks and batteries the Philippi data only shows up after a while, then stays on the Axiom dashboard for a couple of seconds and then vanishes again. That repeats over and over again. Any thoughts what might be the potential reason?

5) identify source of battery data
I only have one shunt connected to the Philippi system but I see data on 4 batteries, named on the dashboard battery 1 .. battery 4, so hard to tell which is which. Can I somehow see in the Axiom configuration what is the source for the data on battery x?


Sorry for the long list of beginner's questions! I would appreciate any kind of guidance how I can answer my questions above.

[LW11] Double set of red and black wires in cable

Hello
I wonder if anyone can advice me on this problem. I have bought an old used Radome 2 kw scanner and a C80 classic plotter. There were 2 cables:

– one short cable with the moulded display cable connector in one end and loose wires in the other end, in this cable there are also 2 pairs of power wires (2 red and 2 black),

– one long cable with the scanner cable connector and 1 pair of power wires (1 red and 1 black) in one end, and loose wires in the other end,

I have now connected all wires between these 2 cables where most of the wires are color marked.

BUT, now to my question. I finally ended upp connecting both red wires from the display connector cable to the single red wire in the scanner cable. Same thing with the black wires.

I got it all to work, but now I worry that the antenna will consume power all the time? Maybe only one of the power wire pairs from the display connector should have been used? If so, which one?

In the display connector cable the 2 power wire pairs are marked "Battery +ve" (red), "*Battery +ve" (also red), "Video RTN" (black) and "*Batteri -ve" (also black).

The * says "Not present on "light" 11 core cables.

Anyone? See the attached page from the manual.

[LW11] P70 autopilot data ommission

The P70 pilot cannot pick up Cog/SOG datA from my network so when engaging Auto I revive a “No pilot data” error msg, even though the Autohelm ultimate and E7 MFD show the data. I have also lost AIS targets on the E7 but not AIS alarms, very strange. Maybe coincidental but occurred after told to perform system reset to enable Course Up display. Any link between these?

System EV-1, ACU400, p70 control head, E7 Mfd on Lightouse 2, Vesper Marine xb800 WiFi link to E7. Autohel ST50, integrated via ShipModul multiplexer

New Element9 MFD planned with older ST(1) equipment

hello, I'm new in this forum and I see great support here!

My SY was built in 2005 with all RM nav-electronic installed since then:
Plotter RL70RC
ST60 Wind
ST60Tridata
AP smartpilot (S2 ?? don't know exactly, but not SPX)
smart pilot wireless controller with handheld
AIS 250
3rd party DSC marine-radio

My plan:
The plotter needs to be replaced.
So the new shall be Element 92 which has a NMEA2000 Micro-C connector.
I plan to change over to STng network and connect the Element9s via STng to NMEA2000 spurcable.
ST60 instruments and remote smartcontroller shall be connected via ST to STng converter as shown in the picture (PDF).
Autopilot shall be connected via the 4800Bd-NMEA0183 port of the AIS250 , which converts to 38400Bd-NMEA0183. This AIS decice has a NMEA Mux implemented. So the autopilot data gets to and from the STng via 38400Bd-NMEA0183 and 3rd party YachtDevices YDNG-03R or equivalent. The second device on the 4800 Bd-NMEA0183 out-port shall be the position information for the DSC-radio.


* note to the autopilot connection : I read the forum and found the information, that legacy autopilots like mine could be connected via ST to STNG converter with full functionality since SW update 1.11 (update of the ST to STng converter) in august 2016 - which connection works better ? NMEA0183 via AIS and YDNG-03 or via the ST to STng converter ?

Q1: is the planned system functional ?
Q2: any recommendations ?
Q3: will it be possible, to use the autopilot page of the Element 9s to control the AP ?

Please let me know, if my plan is ok or do you see any obstacles to clarify ?

[TG11] ST2000 to Lowrance Elite 5 connection

The ST2000 is not talking to my chartplotter. I connected my new ST2000 to my Elite 5 chartplotter and when I try to have the ST2000 go to the waypoint on my chartplotter I just get an error message. I know the chartplotter is sending information to the ST2000 because I am able to measure low voltage pulses (around 1 volt) then 0 then 1v at the connection. A fellow sailer has the same setup and his is working. However he is many hours away. We have talked and I know the wiring connections are correct. The chartplotter has a connection dedicated to speed/temp or NMEA0183 and I have set it to NMEA output.

[TG11] GS195 MFD's as master unit?

By my guess the GS195 running LH3 is a bit memory challenged and randomly reboots when tasked heavily. But this only seems to happen on the master in a series of 4 units with all the bells and whistle appendages.

Need to reconfigure a helm and add another display, so this is the time to ask, am I better served switching to a different unit for this addition and have it serve as the master going forward, relying on these Gs195's as slaves? Would that be more stable, reliable?

Or am I well served with the Gs195 series, stick with it, and perhaps either somehow add memory or consider stepping back to the LH2? Is the LH2 still being maintained by the programmers going forward if this is the best path?

[TG11] Element fish alarm and icon

Hey Guys, how are you? I hope well

I read on manual about fish icon and detection sensitivity functions, and i have some doubts.

1) When I enable Fish icon function - the icons is proportional with the real size of the fish? i.e two fish on my screen, and the real sizes of the fishes are 0,5m and 1,0m the icons will show one bigger than other?

2) Detection sensitivy - how higher value, Element will show bigger fishes or smaller fishes?

Hi all,

Not directly a Raymarine question but very relevant. I understand the difference between a Class A and Class B but i'm still unsure about journey details.

There seems to be no way of setting origin or destination with a class b transeiver ( particularly the AIS700 or AIS650), this feature is only available on a class A. However, when looking at online tracking websites ( Vessel finder, Marine traffic) journey details appear for some vessels that are definitely equipped with class b systems rather class A.

Question is: do these websites just automatically establish journey details from track and heading or are they entered some other way?

Hi there. I have the raymarine dragonfly 7 pro. But what map is best? I live in Norway.

If I understand correct C-Map Genesis isnt supported on Raymarine.
Navionics App works perfect with Raymarine and they have support for sonarchart (user community)

What map is fastest?

[TG11] After Update to 3.1142 - Axiom 7 DV fails to boot

Hi -i tried to update my Axiom 7 DV to 3.11.42. When it rebooted - it went to the axiom flash screen - then the lighthouse screen then repeated this loop. Reading on the forums - it was recommended to do a erase / factory reset - which I did.

Now to goes from axiom flash screen to lighthouse screen multiple times. Eventually it gets to startup wizard step 1 with english selected. Once here touch screen does not allow selection. After 20 seconds or so - starts all over with axiom splash to lighthouse to startup wizard.

What are the next steps?

[LW11] S2 smart pilot installed on sailing yacht of 2005 via ST(1)

(great forum to learn about marine electronics !)

I plan to refurbish the nav-system from old RL70RC plotter to Element 9s or Garmin 922.
The system consists of pure Raymarine ST(1) electronics:
ST60 Wind
ST60 Tridata
Remote controller w/ handheld for AP
AP S2 smart pilot
AIS 250
Marine radio (GLL data via NMEA 0183)
The old antenna RayStar 120 is obsolete, GPS will be included in new MFD.

One ST-STng converter shall bring the ST60 Tri and Wind into STng.
Also, I would keep the ST6002 connected via ST(1) to the S2 smart pilot course computer. And the MFD will be connected via STng to Micro-C connector-cable.

I'm not sure how to best wire and organize the new system :
Q1: how to connect the S2smart pilot into STng ? via NMEA0183 to STng converter or via ST-STng converter ?
Q2: Is it possible to use the brilliant autopilot feature of the Element 9s to switch Auto/Standby and +- 1/10 degrees with a fingertip on a button and which data from the S2 could be monitored on the screen ?
Q3: Where to take the GLL data NMEA0183 for the radio ?

I saw the Garmin922 coming with both, NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 as well as higher graphical resolution (1024x600), compared to the Element 9s. But do I really have a great advantage if operating the S2 via the MFD ?

Hi,

I have spent 5 years with this boat beliveing that my autoplilot was ST6001+.
Now I understand that ST6001+ is just the controller itself.
The autopilot computer is S1 to S3 something.
But how can I tell which version I have?

[LW11] a65 Data sources

Hi Tom and Co... I've been installing my a65 and have a couple of additonal questions... As my boat is out of the water, My wind system sensor is disconnected (So I'm getting no wind reading)... Would I be correct in thinking this is why my a65 can't see the input source?... Also, My depth is not working as I'm on the hard.... So it's not giving a reading...
