Upgrading from a C80 to C95

$

Hello, I'm new to this forum and not savvy when it comes to installing chart plotters.

I have a 2009 Sea Ray Sundancer with Raymarine C80 chart plotter, Raymarine VHF and Autopilot.

I purchased a Raymarine C95 and had Raymarine go through it last year and I want to replace my C80. What do I need to connect to the things it's supposed to connect to?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Dennis

Planning for EV-1 Pilot and ST1 Conversion

Hello.

Our 30-foot sailing vessel currently has ST60 and ST60+ Speed instruments.

We are planning to add an EV-1 autopilot with SeaTalkng and have purchased most or all components.

Goals are as follows:

1. Install new autopilot (Upgrading from an X10 wheel pilot) and SeaTalkng backbone.
2. Connect legacy ST60 instruments using ST to STng conversion kit.
3. Minimize or eliminate wiring runs between decks.
4. Set the table to eventually upgrade ST60 instrument with new SeaTalkng compatible instruments.

Assumptions:

(1) We are aware that an iTC-5 would eliminate wiring runs for depth and wind transducers to the helm and are considering that option.

(2) It seems that upgrading the the S60 instruments would be a simply case of daisy chaining from the P70 pilot controller.

I've studied all relevant manuals and attached a detailed schematic to share. This forum has helped me go from totally confused to "I think I got it"

I don't have an specific questions, but would appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Camera performance in direct sunlight / glace

Hi Raymarine,

I currently live in Southern California which means we more often have clear blue skies and loads of direct sunlight. The bad part of this is that it tends to cause a great deal of glare with my camera. I am attaching a picture to show how this glare shows up on my eS127 MFD.

I currently have a third party analogue camera which is attached to my eS127 MFD via a BNC connection.

I am considering upgrading to one of the following Raymarine models:
a) Raymarine CAM100 analogue camera (which would allow me to keep the same wiring)
b) Raymarine CAM200IP (I would have to run new CAT6 wire)
c) Raymarine CAM210IP

Two questions:
1) Can you comment on whether any of the above cameras would handle glare / bright sunny conditions better than the third party camera I am currently using and which you would recommend for such conditions?
2) I do not seem to be able to get the MFD to "record" any video from the current analogue third party camera (even thought I have sD cards in each slot). Can you only record if you use OEM Raymarine cameras and if so which of the above allow recording via the MFD?

Warm regards,

Patrick

Clear Pulse module and transducer for ES127

Question about ClearPulse for the ES127.

I have a Raymarine ES127 Multifunction display. I am looking to add the clear pulse fishfinder / depth map to my display.
Which clear pulse sonar module do I need for this unit (if I need one) and what transducer would work? I am looking for a thru hull transducer, as I already have an unused Airman analog transducer that I can pull out and replace. My boat has 3 transducers. A new DTS800, another Airmar that isnt connected, and another that was connected to the old raymarine analog sonar module which I removed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

ST60 Wind Linearising and aligning transducer at the dock

I have replaced my older transducer and need to do the "Linearising and aligning" procedures. I currently can't sail out of my marina due to shutdown and was wondering:
- instead of doing two circles with my boat I went up the mast and turned the wind indicator slowly two times. It seems like ST60 took it, however, I just wanted to make sure it was OK?
- also, the manual says to align the wind direction to enter the calibration mode and "sail into the wind and adjust the analog wind indicator angle to zero". My question can I just do it at the dock without taking the boat out and adjust the wind angle to what it is by entering offset to indicate the current wind direction at the dock?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Axiom Pro 12S displays water temperature, but not depth

This was a new system last year and everything was working properly.

We have just launched for the season and reinstalled the Axiom Pro 12S MFD.
Transducer is CPT-S.
Lighthouse software version is either 3.9 or 3.10.

Everything is displaying as it should except for the depth, which shows only dashes in every app. Interestingly, the water temperature is displayed.

I have powered down, removed, and re-seated the transducer connector. Still the depth displays only dashes.

Please advise how to restore the depth display.

Thank you.

C90W - Does not power up - buttons flash only

My c90w will not power up, the screen does not turn on at all. When pressing the power button the buttons on the right will just flash 3 times.

I'm afraid I fried the thing as I now realize I was feeding it multiple power sources. I recently hooked the c90w to a ST60 via a Seatalk to SeaTalkNG adapter. The ST60 was receiving power via it's original power connection, and the c90w was getting power from it's own power source. This setup worked for a few weeks, and now it just flashes when the power button is pressed.

I tried unhooking the SeaTalkNG connection, but the behavior does not change.

I tried powering the c90w off a powered SeaTalkNG system and nothing happens at all in that configuration.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

SH GX2200 AIS connections to Axiom 9rv

Hi,
I have a Standard Horizon GX2200 which outputs AIS data via nmea0183 but also has its own AIS output wires.. This was working on my E90W as the e90w has NMEA0183 input so I was connecting NMEA out (as I was using the GPS data to the E90W. I know the Axiom doesnt have NMEA0183 so I purchased the NMEA0183 to SeatalkNG kit. The cable has a red and yellow wire on it. My GX2200 has AIS output wires, NMEA0183 Output Wires and NMEA0183 Input wires.

Should I be connecting to the AIS output wires, the NMEA output wires and if so, which goes to + and - and what baud rate should be set on the GX2200 for the Axiom to receive the AIS data?

Thanks

Smartpilot S3 Seatalk outputs

I Have a Smartpilot S3 and a Raypilot 650 head unit and an Axiom 9rv setup with SeatalkNG backbone which is all working fine.

Quick question, do I connect the Seatalk1 to SeatalkNG from the SmartPilot S3 or from the Ray650 to my Axiom SeatalkNG backbone? I have both cables (seatalkNG pigtail as well as Seatalk1 to SeatalkNH cable)

Thanks

[TG11] another Axiom 9 integration question

I have a ST60 Tridata, S4000+ autopilot and a newer wind speed indicator all connected via seatalk. I just bought an Axiom 9 and a seatalk 5 port terminal and all the cable that I thought I would need. But I can't figure out how to connect the Axiom 9 to the seatalk network. Their is one cable coming off the Axiom 9 with what looks like a male connector with roughly the same number of pins as the seatalk terminal, but both are male. What am I missing?

[TG11] SPX-5 / ST70 Issues

$

I have a system cobbled together from older parts and while it performs relatively well, I would like to fix a couple of issues if possible.

Sailboat, SPX-5 Wheel autopilot, ST70, ST6002 and ST6001 control heads interfaced to the autopilot via the Seatalk converter, Raymarine C80 chartplotter, remote keypad for the chartplotter and Sirrius SR50 weather receiver. All latest firmware.

I have two independent nmea 2000 networks, one is for the autopilot, the ST70 and the Seatalk converter to the 6001/2 heads and another one that connects the remote keypad and the weather receiver to the C80.

Finally, there is nmea 0183 10 Hz wind sensor feeding the nmea in of the autopilot and a Garmin DV44 that provides GPS signal. All of this works quite well, except:

Q1. The ST70 only displays magnetic heading. The other heads and the chartplotter can be set and display correctly either magnetic or true. My understanding is that something prevents the ST70 from showing true heading even if selected from the menus. What could be it? I have tried disconnecting the devices but still no luck.

Q2. The nmea in on the autopilot works well but I do not get fast heading output on the nmea out from the autopilot. If I connect the nmea 2000 output from the Seatalk converter to the Seatalk 2 port of the C80 I get fast heading output but my wind display (ST60+) that was showing wind fine would continue showing direction correctly but speed is reduced by a factor of ten, i.e. if wind is 10-12 knots, as soon as I connect the nmea 2000 to the C80, wind speed on the Seatalk 1 network goes to 1.0-1.2 knots, while direction is OK. Wind speed continues to be displayed correctly on the C80. My guess is that the C80 confuses the Seatalk 2 network somehow. Would a Seatalk 2 wind instrument correct this issue?

Q3. The SPX-5 compass alignment is 110 degrees, even though the fluxgate is mounted facing forward. Could this be an issue with autopilot or an indication of a failure mode? It steers OK. The fluxgate passes the resistance tests.

Q4. Would the SPX-5 autopilot work with an external KVH-1000 10 Hz compass? The manual suggests that this is possible while on this forum I have read that the fluxgate is still needed. The logic here is that I can feed the fast heading both to the compass and the C80 for MARPA? On a related note, if the Seatalk converter receives fast heading from the nmea 2000 port on the SPX, how often does it output it on the Seatalk network? 2 Hz or higher?

Q5. What would be the recommended upgrade? EV1+the biggest Axiom I can afford? Will the ST70 head still be useful or do I need a complete package upgrade?

Thank you,
Vassil

[TG11] Can Axiom Pro connect with two WiFi devices at once?

$

Last year I purchased an Axiom Pro MFD and a Quantum Radar
I just purchased a Raymarine Ray90/Ais700 Bundle and want to install and connect all these items. Have not installed any yet.

My question is since the MFD can connect to the Radar via WiFi can I install an NMEA2000 WiFi backbone and connect the AIS to the MFD also?

I want to avoid having to drill a [censored] in the boat to run an NMEA2000 cable from the AIS to the MFD at the helm.

Just not sure if the MFD can connect to both the radar and the AIS at the same time via WiFi?

Thanks
marty

[JB11] Axiom 12 cannot be connected with Quantum Radar

Hi,

my system consists of an MFD Axiom 12 which is connected via a switch HS5 with instruments (SeaTalk Bus), external keypad RMK 10 and Quantum Radar with RayNet cable. The Quamtum is mounted on a pole, the cable length is appr. 15 m. The system worked well in this confuguration during last season.

When I installed the MFD and the Radar this year the MFD was not able to be connected with the radar, neither by cable nor by WiFi. Always the message "radar not found" appeared. All other functions of the MFD are working, the WiFi is visible, during pairing with the SSID of the Quantum.

I made already all the checks and remidies recommended in this forum.

Can I do something else ? Is my Quantum radar damaged ?

[JB11] e7 won't connect, continuous restarting

I have

e125 and e7 with radar (wifi only), speed, depth, ais etc

e7 & e125 connected by network cable, both also connected to other instruments by stng cable.

e7 will not work when connected to the e125 with network cable.

All worked well for a while, then the e7 would every once and a while not want to connect to the e125 and continue to restart. Now it won't connect at all and continues to freeze, then restart over and over. If I disconnect the network cable, it starts fine and picks up route, speed, depth etc from the stng cable. When I try to start with the network cable, it does a number of different things, but never works. It and the e125 both report there are multiple masters, which I cannot correct, sometimes, it just freezes, sometimes it starts, freezes, then restarts over and over. Nothing has changed in the system or settings since it worked OK. I've tried factory reset and also reloading software to the e7. e125 continues to work fine regardless (other than warnings when it senses the e7 is connected as another master).

Anything else I can do, or do I just need to send the e7 in for repair?

Thanks.

[JB11] Element HV lighthouse charts crashing

$

Alright, so I have a Element HV 7" everything is going great with it
except when I try to scroll around the map with the arrow buttons while
using the lighthouse charts with the chip in the unit. (Note that this only
happens with the lighthouse chart card) After I move away
from my current position on the map the software crashes. After about 30
seconds it boots back up into the map but the same problem still persists.

I've done some test to try and figure out what is going on, and here
are my results. When the chart detail is set to high and detailed, the map
almost immediately crashes when moving around the map. However if I
set the detail to low I can use the map without crashing too much as long
as I don't move around the map too fast. With that data I figured maybe
it's a problem with the unit itself, maybe I just got a bad egg. But if I take
my lighthouse charts chip to West Marine and try my chip in some of
their Raymarine Element HV units, the same thing happens.

So here I am, any help or advice will be great. Thank you.

[TG11] st6001 auto operates clutch but "no comp"

auto button from both control head and wireless remote fails to move the rudder but the clutch operates and locks the wheel. The display says "no comp". The rudder reference sensor measures out ok as does the type 1 ram. The course comp fails to put voltage out on the motor leads but when I disconnect the motor leads and apply voltage the ram moves the rudder fine. Also the head unit shows no rudder bar (the option is on). This failure started over night. Is the head unit bad or the computer?
