[TG11] Plotter Upgrade

$

Hi Chuck and Co...

As I'm slowly upgrading my electronics. Having recently added a T070 mast unit and integrated that into my current system using a micronet unit... My attention now turns to improving my startline info.....
Currently I'm using a A50D for my MFD.... However, I'm really impressed with the new Lighthouse start line function and the built in polars....
Unfortunately my budget won't stretch to a Axiom unit... However, I've found a new old stock a65 & a67 for sale... I believe these unit's a running a earlier lighthouse system.... Will either of these units upgrade to the current version? or something that will give me the start line functions...
also will either unit enable my crew to run the raymarine app on their phone to see the live data..

Thanks in advance

Tim

[TG11]EVO-1 Yaw,Pitch,Roll PGN Ranges

Hello,

I have recently setup a NEMA2000 gateway so I can capture data from our EVO-1 autopilot. The autopilot is outputting nagivation.attitude PGN (127257) for yaw, pitch, and roll. The values seeing in basic testing at the dock in some light chop are showing under a 1.0 value for all three attributes.

My question what is the data range for this PGN as I would like to translate this to degrees. Because actual range can be measured in 360 degrees I would need to understand the max/min for the PGN and the neutral reference point.

The example would be for say roll. If the boat rolls 10 degrees port than to 0 degrees roll than 10 degrees to starboard what would those values look like.

Cheers and thanks for making the data available out of the EVO-1

Is it possible to update other marine electronics that exist on the NMEA2000 system using the SD port on my Axiom 12? As an example I inherited with my boat another manufacturers GPS antenna which requires a software update but has no sd card port of course to resolve date issues on the MFD. Thanks for any advise.

Is it necessary to mount the mast-top transducer so that the arm faces parallel to the bow/stern line or is a slight offset angle okay?

Hello,
I have two questions, thank you for your time:
1. what is a cable part number for a direct connection of Flir AX8 camera to gs195 MFD (Lighthouse 3.0 installed)?
2. remote control RMK-9 with external power thru SeaTalkHS, should work with above mentioned gs195 MFD?

[TG11] Navionics chart data shared?

I have a C95 (master) and C125 networked as shown in the attached pictures. I have purchased a new Navionics Platinum+ card to update the charts.

Please advise if I will need to actually purchase two Navionics Platinum+ cards, one for each MFD, or is there a way to share the chart data between the two MFD's?

I found the following info. on the forum but am not clear if it applies seeing I seem to have the C125 on the HS network. https://forum.raymarine.com/showthread.p...+RAYFAQ%23

Thanks,

Tony

[TG11] i60 Wind Poblems

$

Hi,

I have a one year old Raymarine system with Axiom 12 and associated current instruments professionally installed about a year ago. It is all working fine except for the wind readings. Following are the issues;

1/ wind angle needle appears to be accurate whereas digital value is incorrect. Wind direct on the bow shows as such with the needle but the digital value is 150 degrees. Shouldn’t it be zero with wind on the bow ?

2/ true vs apparent wind values are incorrect. The values are generally very similar. For example, if we are moving at 6 knots into a 6 kn wind, I would expect to see 6 kn true and 12kn apparent. Instead, the display shows both try and apparent as being close to 6 kn.

3/ Wind readings appear to be erratic and generally a fair bit lower than actual.

Any advice on how to resolve these issues would be greatly appreciated.

thank you,
Tim Holley

[TG11] Can wireless display show data from wired instruments

Hello,

I’ve got the tacktick wireless wind transducer with the handheld remote. I don’t like the fact that I’ve got to keep the remote on in order to receive wind data on my chart plotter via the microtalk gateway. I’d rather have a hard mounted display for that purpose. I am considering getting a wireless display to use for this. Are there any wireless display units capable of showing me data from my other, wired transducers such as depth, speed, etc? This would make the purchase of a wireless display more useful.

Thanks!
Chris

[TG11] Wind transducer wind angle issue

I have the following:
Newer style wind transducer
i60 Wind display
(2) i70 MF instruments
iTC-5 with all transducers wired to it
(2) P70 autopilot heads
ACU-400 w/EV1
e125

Last season I noticed the wind angle seemed to be off. The system would calculate a 30 degree wind shift (ground wind) after tacking.
I went up the mast and physically held the wind vane to 0 while someone below adjusted the offset within the i70 setup menu. After that and while aloft, I physically held the vane at 90 starboard, 90 port, and 180. While the vane was at 90, at least on one side, the i60 (in AWA mode) and the i70 were showing at least 100+. 180 seemed to be correct.

I just re-launched the boat and re-installed the transducer (I take it off over every winter) and while at the top of the mast I performed the calibration procedure manually by having someone below start the process, then I manually, slowly turned the vane around at least twice to mimic turning the boat in circles. The setup showed "complete" after about 2.5 turns. I then aligned the vane manually to 0 and had the person below complete the function to set zero.

After doing all this, the vane is clearly sending the wrong angle info.
Here is what I got when manually holding the vane at 0-90P-90S-180:
physical position / angle shown on i60 in AWA mode / angle shown on i70 graphic
0 / 0 / 0
90P / 95P / 90P
90S / 110S / 104S
180 / 166 / 166

I tried to take some data at 45P, 45S, 135P, 135S but it's hard to eyeball those angles exactly. I did find that on one of the 45's and 135's, it seemed to be way off (I had the person below tell me when it read those values and it looked like the vane was not at those actual angles)

Clearly the angle is off mostly when reading starboard, and a lot when reading 180.

Could this be related to mimicking doing the circles by turning the vane by hand, or is this a transducer or iTC-5 issue?

I'm planning an upgrade from an eS78 to an Axiom or Axiom pro. I now have a CPT120 transducer. Is this transducer compatible with Axiom?
Or will the recommended transducer fit in the CPT120's bore size for installation?

[TG11] EV-150 zig zag

Hello,

I have a 1993 Bayliner 2252 Classic Mercury V6 4.3l inboard Alpha One outdrive. It had cable with power assist steering. I changed it out to a Seastar hydraulic steering system. I paired it with the EV-150. I use my boat for trolling Lake Michigan and intend to use the autopilot for the same between 2 to 4 mph and to basically maintain a heading. My fishfinder and gps is a Humminbird and not part of the network.

After start up I took it to the lake for testing. It doesn’t hold a straight coarse at all. It makes sharp zig zags. The thought might be there may be air in the lines so I bled it for a 3rd time. Back to the lake same issue. I found there is a software issue when not using a rudder with the ACU 100. I looked and looked and found no way to update my software. Through a Facebook group I am being told I would need a MultiFunction Display in order to update. There is also search bar that says “detecting magnetics”. Not sure what that means either. I am out of ideas what may be the cause. Please help!

[TG11] Axiom sounder image clutter with RV transducers

$

Hello Raymarine Suport,

I have upgraded my Raymarine unit to from the A series with a CPT transducer to Axiom with rv212 bronze transducers and I'm not happy. I'm thinking it's a problem with the installation. Great care was made for transducer placement and it's a spot that has worked very well for previous installations.

Since upgrading I have noticed a lot more clutter in the sonar picture and i'm trying to figure out why. The basic chirp sonar shows a lot more stuff in the water column and it's definitely not fish. This is especially true for the top of the water column, like first 30 feet. This was not happening with my A series unit and CPT 110 transducer. So basically I found the A unit and CPT 110 transducer was a lot more effective at spotting fish and easier to look at. The real vision on the axiom is totally useless because it picks up too much interference. The crazy making is the returns look a lot like legit fish returns, but they're not. The returns are blob like markings, not a fuzz

#0 tested with November 2019 axiom software release.
#1 With Axiom I get a good bottom picture at 30knts in calm seas. 25knts in chop.
#2 Bottom looks pretty good at 500' depths. After that I begin to lose bottom. It's the in-between that has a lot of clutter. Particularly the first 20'-40'.
#3 At 40 foot depths there is significant clutter that looks like fish blobs.
#4 interference happens even when boat is drifting with no motion or rocking.
#5 It does mark fish, but it's always marking something so it's annoying to read.
#6 observations are made primarily with auto adjustment settings. I have played around a lot with the settings and nothing helps. I have reset to factory defaults. In order to get the interference away I have to adjust the filters so low that it doesn't mark fish and bottom returns are weak.
#7 starboard Transducer is placed in the same place where the CPT110 worked incredibly well. port transducer is in a symmetrical place.
#8 I run the transducer cable along with the +12V to the helm. Same that I did with the CPT110 cable. It's possible that this is causing interference but I doubt it. I did some minor experiments and did not see a difference but I could do some more if you really think that being within a couple inches of a 4awg +12v wire could make a difference. Skeptical on this.
#9 I have tried connecting the transducer to my axiom 12 and 9 inch units and have the same results.
#10 I'm happy to provide images. I'll get to work on that this weekend.

Any suggestions? It does not look like this is a common problem. I updated my units for real vision and that does not appear to be useful at all with how it's working so i'm very disappointed. Please help.
Thanks,
strbass28

[DG11] Seapilot & Raymarine

Hello. I just bought a Raymarine Element 9HV and I’m just now in the process of installing it on my boat. I have a few questions regarding the navigation chart that came bundled with the hardware.

The chart is SeaPilot (the S/W on the microSD-card is named “Lighthouse_Seapilot_Sweden_May23.rx6”), and I understand that you’re able to run a few variants of charts (Navionics, C-Map, LightHouse NOAA). SeaPilot itself is a chart that’s been pretty popular over here in Sweden, and I’ve used it myself on my iPad for navigation over the past years. But … I can’t find any specific information when reading the manual(s), browsing various Raymarine websites etc. I also read that Raymarine acquired SeaPilot back in 2018, so you’d think that there should be some information regarding the charts on Raymarine’s sites, but the only info I see is a link to the seapilot.com website, and that site only speaks about the mobile apps …

Anyway, being a premium subscriber of seapilot (meaning I get chart updates one year at a time and can use the chart on any of the devices I want) I’d like to know the following:

– How do I see to that the SeaPilot chart on my Raymarine-hardware is up to date? Is updates pushed out and I’m able to install it directly on my plotter?
– Am I eligible to getting the same update(s) through my current SeaPilot-subscription? How do I make sure that my account is synced/linked?
– Does the SeaPilot chart work the same was as your other chart-brands? I mean, are there any differences or shortcomings using SeaPilot? (I am more specifically thinking of the ability to record depth when I’m navigating waters, like adding depth on top of the chart).

I posted the very same questions directly to SeaPilot customer service two weeks ago, but haven’t heard anything back.

Again, I haven’t yet installed the plotter on my boat so I can’t test things out yet, but it would be nice to get some information regarding the above directly from someone that has own experience or know the ins and outs.

regards,
Markus

[DG11] Raymarine Autopilot Kit and D10

$

Hi Raymarine Folks -

Thanks for the continued excellent support on the forum. Also, I have not been able to reply to any thread I've posted to say thank you so far - not sure if the forum is set up that way on purpose, but thanks!

I am installing an autopilot kit purchased by the previous owner. Here's whats in the kit:

+ Hydraulic Type II Arm
+ ACU 400
+ Tiller Sensor
+ P70 Control Unit
+ EV-1
+ *Raymarine D10*

Can someone please explain to me: (Question 1) What is the D10 for and what does it do? (Question 2) Is it optional in the system and how would I make that determination if its options for me? I don't see it listed anywhere in the manual(s) that came with the autopilot kit which I found kind of interesting. If it is optional, it seems curious to me it comes as part of the kit.

I did call into Raymarine Tech support to ask them as well and was told that the D10 turns an analog signal into a digital signal and can be used to send data from older analog transducers into the system. If this is the case, (Question 3) can you help me understand what sort of transducers those might be or how I can tell if my transducers would require the use of the D10?

Asking question number three because I have a depth transducer in one thru-hull (Raymarine E26030, looks like a DT800 in a P17 thru-hull/housing), and a separate-thru-hull for speed that the previous owner plugged because he didn't think that in water speed data coming from thru hull sensor was worthwhile or accurate.

In thinking longer term about my autopilot and system, I would like to set it up to perform well and get the most data it can to work well.

It seems like I have 2 options at the moment:

+ Install the autopilot with existing depth transducer (no speed) and possibly use the D10 if I need to (still unclear to me). Optionally purchase a separate speed transducer and tie that in also with the D10 if needed.

+ Replace the existing depth transducer with something new to make sure it talks to the autopilot without needing the D10, and consider getting a depth + speed transducer in a single unit to simplify my system.

Any thoughts, input, or advice on how to move forward greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

// Phil

Hello,

I am seeking to connect one of my 2 current Airmar transducers to a gs165 MFD. Looking for information on the proper connector cables/converters needed.

Currently, one transducer is connected to a Lowrance HD5 FF, the other to a FURUNO RD-30.

I am attaching photos of the tags found attached to the transducers.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

RAY101E not transmitting

Hi,

My RAY101E handheld VHF is not transmitting on any channel.

Everything looks normal, and it receives happily.

However when you try to transmit,
it cycles through the channel 08 screen with all the symbols,
the channel 43 screen with no symbols,
and back to the channel you are trying to transmit on.

Switching off and then resetting by holding down the * and HI/LO USER keys and then switching on, brings up the channel 08 screen with all the symbols and then the channel 43 screen with no symbols, until you release the two keys and it returns to the normal channel 16 screen.

Any suggestions appreciated
