[CA11] Problem with axiom and airmar transducer.

$

Hello, i have a raymarine axiom 9 fishfinder, With a RV 220 connected directly to axiom unit.

To get better sounder performance i purchase from BOE an cp470 and a airmar b175 medium chirp transducer and connected transducer to cp470 with A80328 Adapter Cable.

The cp 470 powers up fine and it is networked with my axiom unit,

however, when i try to use the airmar transducer through axiom unit is says “transducer not connected” when i select the cp 470 as source

I checked an rechecked connections to cp470 and axiom unit they seem fine

Is there something i need to do to get axiom to recognize airmar transducer

Or could it be a bad a80328 adapter cable or hopefully not a bad airmar transducer.

How do you think i should proceed to correct problem.

Thanks for your help

[CA11] Automatic waypoint following in a route?

I have just installed a new Raymarine EV-200 autopilot and connected it to my Axiom Pro. If I create a route, is it possible to have the pilot go from waypoint to waypoint in the route automatically, or do I have to intervene at all?

Thanks,
Duane

Integrating Axiom 9 with ST60 and GX1400

Hi,

I just purchased an Axiom 9 that I'll be installing on my boat and would like to ensure I have it setup correctly. My goals are to have the ST60 send depth and speed data to the Axiom and have the Axiom send GPS to the Standard Horizon GX1400. In the future, I'd like to send my engine data to be displayed on the Axiom. I've sketched out what I think the setup would look like with the ST1 to STNG and VHF to STNG converters. Does this look right and would I need to power each converter or just one of them.

Thanks!

Hi, Ive recently purchased the axiom 7 chartplotter (just the basic model not the DV). I have a 30ft glass hull boat and I'll need a through hull transducer for depth. I'm wondering which transducer I will need and how its connected to the plotter? I'm hearing it needs to go through the nmea2000 connection . Just wondering what I need and what kind of display I can expect on the plotter. Just a depth number? Or will I get a screen with contours aswell? Thanks

Hi, im looking for the DragonFly 7 pro. My range depth is between 30/80 meters (100/260 ft) in saltwater of course.

I would like to know if this model work well in this depth range, and I am not just referring to detecting the bottom, but to visualizing fish correctly. Is another model better?

Thanks

[CA11] Dampening RPM readouts - Axiom/ Lighthouse

Is it possible to dampen the RPM data display to smooth the rapid changes? The dampening or averaging at the display level is what i need to accomplish.

Data is being transmitted from the engine control module via a Yacht Devices YDES-04N.

[TG11] Linear Drive Type 2 Long vs Short

Hi, I am about to replace my Type 2 Linear drive. My yacht, weighs about 16,000kg fully loaded with a long keel and huge rudder. I removed the old unit which was a Type 2 Short and purchased a Type 2 Long to replace it with due to the weight of our yacht and the fact that we sail ocean crossings often.
Reading the installation manual Figure 4 Drive Alignment indicates a tiller arm radius of 250mm for the Short and 355mm for the Long.
My tiller arm radius is only 255mm but with the weight of the yacht am I still okay to install the Type 2 Long with the 255mm tiller arm radius? Thanks.

I have a Hynautic helm that only has two ports.
I just received the EV150 Type 1 pump that has 3 ports.
Can I just plug the center port on the pump or should I buy a remote reservoir?

[CA11] Radar gain control

I have a 4k Radome and C125 MFD. when I boost the gain, the inner part of my screen does not clutter out. In this image, the rings are set at 1nm. 3 miles out there is no gain noise. As in the photo attached Is this typical? It happens no matter the Ring setting. Happens no matter the radar mode, Bird mode, Harbor, Coastal etc etc

[DG11] 12V Linear Drive Type 2 - Short or Long

Hi,
I thought I had posted but have no response so trying again.
I have an Island Packet 45, loaded weight approx 16,000kg, regular Ocean crossings and a very large rudder. I am replacing my Linear Drive. The old one was a type 2 short, but given our weight I have selected and purchased a type 2 long.
Page 11 of the install manual Figure 4 Drive alignment has a recommended tiller arm length (quadrant) of 250mm for the short and 355mm for the long.
My quadrant radius is 255mm but given my boats weight I feel the type 2 long is the correct choice.
Does my shorter qudarant/tiller arm radius matter in this case?

Craig

[DG11] Autopilot Drops into Standby and other issues

Hi There-
We're using an ST6001+ autopilot head and course computer for same (not sure of model, but 2002 era).

This system is also networked via STng to 2 MFDs (A65 and E98), radar, AIS, STng bus, converter, Tridata, Wind instrument, etc.

Issues:
1) Phantom “Next Waypoint” prompts when there is none in the system, and we’re not even on a route, simply a Go To cursor, for example.

2) Unit drops from Auto into Standby, typically with no alert and no warning, of course. Sometimes it will beep. This is most often when autopilot is in a very low-strain situation. Sometimes (but not often) in a heavy seaway.

I have already re-done every electrical connection at main course computer (gray box), and confirmed voltage is not an issue (we run lithium batteries, voltage almost never lower than 13.1). It often will do this on flat water, motoring with 13.5+ volts in the system.

[CA11] ACU-200 Drive not detected

been doing a lot of work on the steering system. recently hooked everything up and I'm getting a "drive not detected" alarm when i try to engage the autopilot.

system check sees all of the other components of the system P70R, EV-1 but does not see the acu-200 actuator unit. lights are on. checked fuses.

unplugged it and replugged it from the unit and from the backbone, no change.

thinking the drop cable may be bad. do you know the part number for that?

or if there is a way to test the cable or the unit?

Thanks

[CA11] Axiom MFD not responding to power on swipe

Hello. Hope you are well during this crazy time.

In my system I have 2 Axiom 9 units networked together. I've had them installed for a little over a year and have had no problems until now. Both of the units are receiving power, however one will not "turn on" with a swipe. I've been on two trips now of it not working. Have turned power off to the unit and has not helped. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Gary

[CA11] C70 Classic to Standard Horizon VHF

Hello,

I have the Raymarine C70 Classic MFD (with the latest software). It gets GPS from an external GPS antenna - I am not able to determine how the antenna connects, I thought it was via the NMEA 0183 port but it appears to connect via Seatalk. I also have ST70 tridata, autopilot, and wind direction, as well as Raymarine autopilot and radar.

Some device is connected to the MFD's NMEA 0183 port but I am not able to determine what it is from the cable.

I installed a Standard Horizon GX 2200 VHF last year that has GPS and AIS and has a NMEA 0183 output. Ideally, I'd like to see the VHF's AIS data on the MFD - it looks like the only connection opportunity is to connect via the MFD's NMEA 0183 port. Is that accurate? Thank you!

[CA11] RS150 or AR200 with the Quantum 2 Radar

Hello,

First thank you for all of the great information on this forum.

I have recently purchased the following navigation products: Axiom Pro 9 RVX MFD, Quantum 2 Q24D Radar, and RS150 external GPS due to the pilot house structure on my boat. I have read in the radar installation instructions that an EV-1 Sensor is the desired sensor for accurate COG, SOG, HDG/HDT when using the Quantum 2 Doppler radar. I also noted that since I do not have an autopilot in my vessel, the AR200 is recommended as a substitute for the EV-1. I am not seeking the cheapest option, but the better setup option for my system since fog and rain are common in my region and at times close quarter navigation to other vessels.

Q1, Will the AR200 replace both the EV-1 and RS150?

Q2, Based on my non-autopilot set-up, which is the desired sensor EV-1 or AR200

Q3, Will the AR200 puck fit on the RS150 Pole mount

Again, thank you for your expertise and I hope my inquiry helps someone else.

[CA11] Engine data on MFD

I have twin E-120 MFDs. Detroit diesel mains and westerbeke genset. I currently am not able to see any engine or generator info on the mfd. This boat has what I believe is called a "Cyberdyne" engine warning system that is no longer functioning properly. I have tried a internet search for a "black box" or something similar to have the capability to read engine info with no luck. Can anyone offer any suggestion or info to help with what I am looking for please ?

[CA11] Compatible Airmar transducer with Axiom 12 RV

Hello.
I just bought Axiom 12 RV and I'm thinking to buy also an Airmar transducer.
I'm looking for your advise. I'm between T150 or TM165HW.
I usually fish not more than 90ft deep in saltwater and I fish also in freshwater winter time.
Also, are these transducers are directly connecting with the unit or there should be some extra cabling with the Airmar trancducer?

Thank in advance.

[CA11] Navionics: Cannot remove/adjust red dotted warning depth area

We have two MFDs, networked via SeaTalk ng, with Navionics card installed at the helm. There is an annoying blue area with red dots in relatively shallow areas (seems to be aimed at less than 30 or 50 feet, but we routinely find this area at more than 150 feet), that we can't seem to adjust or remove. The issue is that at some zoom levels, these dots interfere with the ability of the user to spot ACTUAL red dots representing rocks and other hazards. I have combed through all the settings and info online, and can't find any solution. Is there a way to adjust/remove this depth warning area?

[CA11] Networked MFDs with CPU/resource issues

$

Hi There-
We are cruising full time, currently in Mexico. We have two MFDs networked (via SeaTalk ng): An A65 at the helm, and an ES98 at the nav station. Also other various Ray devices. We are running Navionics Platinum+ chart card in the A65 unit, since we want SonarChart Live data visible to the person at the helm.

Like other posters on this forum, we are discovering that the CPU/Memory resources of these MFDs are no match for the flood of data created by the SonarChart Live feature, especially when coupled with multiple tracks, etc. We have ghost rebooting issues, screen draw issues, freezing issues, etc. The unit at the helm is almost unusable.

Questions:
1) It is my understanding that LightHouse 3 is available for our ES unit, but not the A, and therefore we should NOT update. Correct?

2) Is there any update in the works for Lighthouse 2, to change the way the units handle data by default?

3) Given the limited capability of the A unit, is there (PLEASE!) a way we can run the chart card in the ES unit (taking advantage of more computing power), but still display SonarChart Live data on the unit at the helm?

4) Has Ray/Navionics considered an option where the system only logs SonarChart Live below a certain depth? These numbers are not meaningful to us at depths greater than 75 or 100 feet, but we don't really have the option of shutting it off, as we are often traveling in areas where there is NO current depth information, or one very outdated (and inaccurate) lead line depth recorded from the 1800's every mile or two.

4 a) The idea that we "turn off sonar logging when this data is not needed" is, I'm sure you can agree, not a very workable solution for those sailing full time in often skinny water. What other actions can we take to reduce the data load on these MFDs, or other ways to lighten the load and improve their usability?

5) In order to get these MFDs up and running closer to capacity again, do you recommend a power on reset? If so, which order do we do them in? With chart card installed, or no?

Any answers and details you can provide are much appreciated.
