I'm am unable to successfully add a Tacktick T122 to an existing Micronet network.

*The existing system has a T121, T111, T112, T113 & T120.
*The T122 was from another boat. Is powered from the same circuit as the T121 and has been charging for 96+ hours (did disconnect from power a few times as noted below).
*I have successfully added other units to this system recently (e.g. T113 remote from another boat)
*I tried adding it from from the T111, T112 & T113 both while connected to 12v source and battery only.
*Didn't have any NMEA connections in/out initially but did wire in one input on last try.
*Was closer than 12" to unit(s) I was attempting to add it form (had long wires on the 12v input)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

[CA11] Best approach to bench test radar?

$

I have a used RD218 that I would like to test before installation. It will be connected to a E120.

The RD218 User Manual talks about grounding the array to the boat's RF ground system. To test I will be connecting power from a stand alone 12v marine battery to the E120, through a fused connection. If I want to bench test before installation, what is the best way to ground this? Can it just go to the negative battery terminal, or do I need some separate ground?

Thanks.

[CA11] LH3 software email doesn't come

Support folks,
I have an es97 on which I'd like to install Lighthouse 3. When I go to download the software I input my email address, check a couple of boxes, and click submit. I then get a pop-up saying I'll get an email with the software. The problem is, the email never comes (yes, I've checked my junk box). How can I download the software? Thanks....

[CA11] eS78 "cookie trail"

Hello everyone,

I just installed a new eS78 with Downview sonar. I have most features figured out and configured how I want them on the unit. What I cannot figure out is if this unit leaves a historical trail behind your boat icon as you travel thru the waterways? Most units I've used before have this feature, and it's helpful to have this historical trail, especially when you travel in very shallow for the first time and are looking for a channel along the route. It's then easy to follow that trail history again at a later time. Thank you for any input you can provide.

[CA11] Slave E120 chartplotter crash/reboot on 3D page

I have a pair of E120 chartplotters both with the latest software (5.69) on my boat. They are interconnected with SeatalkNG. Overall they are working fine. There is however one very annoying problem, if the slave unit (the one without the chart card) is set to the page with the 3D panel it locks up and crashes after a minute and then reboots and repeats indefinitely. Sometimes it displays a message that says there isn't any 3D data before it crashes. I can get it out of the problem by quickly hitting OK after a reboot, pressing the Page button and selecting the first chart page. This issue happens when the unit is in Local or System mode.

I do have 3D data - the same page works just fine on the master unit with the chart card.

I know that this is an older unit but let's face it - this is pretty clearly a software bug. Is there any solution to the problem?

[CA11] Sharing SD card data between eS127 and Axiom

So I got my new Axiom RV installed and networked it to my eS127 everything working good but I have a few questions - I now have 3 SD card slots available (2 on the eS127 and 1 on the Axiom). FWIW I moved the NMEA 2000 connection from my eS127 over to the Axiom.

Q1 - Can you read data on the Axiom from the SD cards in eS127?

The Axiom is set to data master. All my way-points were stored on the eS127 and now I cannot find my waypoints. It appears the Axiom is picking up my Navionics SD card info from the eS127. I elected to keep the Navionics card in the eS unit for ease of access for updates and installed a blank SD card in the Axiom.

Q2 - I have the Axiom hooked up to my wireless network - can the eS127 now be updated over WiFi via the Axiom?

I selected on the Axiom MFD "check for updates" and the eS127 showed in the list for wireless updates.

I again have an Axiom RV and eS127 networked. I have the RV-100 connected to the Axiom and a B60 thru-hull connected to the eS127.

Q1 - Can I run the 50/200 kHz sonar at the same time on both units? The thru-hull B60 reads well at speeds so I would like to keep it as my preferred depth source.

[CA11] E-classic engine data display

Hi there, these old plotters have a pre-defined engine display for both single and dual engines. What source(s) will the plotter use for the data interface, ie, if the Seatalk NG bus is interfaced to the Seatalk 2 port of the plotter, will it pickup and display engine RPM for example? Or is it only possible via NMEA 0183?

Of course, all assumes the last s/w release is loaded, V5.69

[LW11] Axiom on n2k network with st70

$

I have installed an Axiom 9 with lighthouse 3 software (replacing a Pathfinder RL80C chart plotter) into an existing system that has Seatalk1, NEMA 0183 and N2K networks. The install went mostly fine and I can get readings of; depth, speed, course, ship location, fuel level etc. on the Axiom. There is a Seatalk to Seatalkng converter installed that is used to connect the Axiom to the existing Seatalk1 instruments and the N2K instruments and data sources (including an ST70 device).

The minor problem comes from some kind of conflict between the ST70 instrument and the Axiom. when trying to set the "datamaster" on the Axiom, the only instrument that shows in the list is the Axiom, the ST70 does not show. I can apparently select the Axiom as the datamaster. However, when I go to networking > data sources and try to manually select a GPS, I get a message saying something like ' manual selection is not allowed while the ST70 is on the network' .
If I disconnect the ST70 from the N2K network, then I can make manual selections of data sources.
I have tried to do a factory reset of the ST70, with the intention being of then making it NOT the "first instrument on the network", but I can not find out where to do this. Or more accurately when I do click "factory reset", it does not seem to have any effect.

The other odd thing is that the Axiom internal GPS does NOT show up as a selectable data source. but if I go to GPS datum, the internal GPS does show up as a source for GPS datum.

a related question, is: is there some way to verify if my AIS is working with the Axiom if there are no AIS targets present? The AIS feeds the Axiom via an Actisense NEMA 0183 to N2K converter. In other words is there some indication that an AIS is present on the network? There is a list of N2K items that does show the Actisense "bridge" itself, but is there a way to know an AIS is sending data if there are not targets in the vicinity?

[LW11] No AIS on Axiom 9pro (AIS 700)

Hi, we have just installed a Raymarine AIS700, connected to an Axion 9 Pro and a RAY60 VHF through NMEA 2000.
The AIS700 sends and recieves data without any problem (When minitoring it on proAIS2).
The problbem is that the Axiom 9 pro does not provide an AIS overlay, so I have no possibility to get the AIS data on the Axiom 9 Pro screen (Navionics+ chart).

What could be a possible solution?

Thank you in advance.

[CA11] Powering a Quantum Radar

I am going to install a Quantum WiFi Radar in conjunction with an existing A78. The instructions recommend connecting the Radar direct to the Battery. The system I am replacing is an old Pathfinder set up, in that system the power went to the MFD and the Radar Cable carried power from the MFD to the Radom. When I installed the A78 I used the existing power feed to the old Pathfinder unit. Would it be better to connect the new Quantum to that same feed? Regardless of the answer to
that question, should the Quantum be run through a switch to ensure it is off, the instructions talk about it going to sleep if not being used, I assume it would stay in sleep mode when not using the boat, is it drawing power in sleep mode?

[CA11] What MFD to pair with a ES127

In the process of upgrading my electronics on my 05 26' Regulator. In addition to the new ES127 I have a CP470 and a new transducer. I do not have room for 2 12" screens and want a few suggestions that will pair well with the ES127. A 9" screen should fit. Thanks

[CA11] Autopilot Hydraulic Drive Bleeding

$

Hello,

I recently sent my Autopilot Type2 hydraulic linear drive (M81200) into Raymarine for repair due to hydraulic leaking. That issue is fortunately resolved after Raymarine's full rebuild. On installation and trial, the wheel would immediately turn when engaged (even past the stops if you let it). Again, fortunately resolved by a 1 minute call to Raymarine and getting the advise that I would need to reverse power +/- wires to the unit from the original installation. Odd, never would have guessed that! And great tech support!

However, now my problem is that the unit will NOT disengage when hitting standby after a bit of time in auto. In testing, I can disengage if reverting back to standby soon after engaging auto. This would indicate it's not an electrical issue (and I didn't change anything other than sending the drive in). However, if the unit is left engaged in auto for a longer period of time, the only way I can get back the wheel is to physically disconnect the + or - power cable to the drive motor (flipping the breaker to the electronics/autopilot does not do it). Sometimes the wheel will be freed after a prolonged period of time without having to disconnect cables. Raymarine phone tech support advised it was likely an issue with air in the system and needed bleeding. However, I didn't fully grasp the bleeding procedure. Can you please outline the steps on how to resolve this issue?

In case it's useful in some way:
ST7000+ Control Head (nav)
ST6000+ Control Head (helm)
T2 Linear-Hyd Drive (M81200)
T300 Course Computer
Fluxgate Compass
Rudder Indicator

Thanks,
Chris

[CA11] eS78 freezing after upgrade to LH III, charts not showing after downgrading

$

I recently purchased an eS78 (new) and an eS97 (“used”, but in original box, and all cables were still in bags), both running Lighthouse II. I intend to use these with a Quantum 2 radar, which I understand requires Lighthouse III to give the Doppler features. I’m getting everything set up on our dining room table using a 12V power supply and fuse block, before installing on the boat.

Following Chuck’s very useful directions, I upgraded to LH III by putting raymarine_atom-3.8.105.upgrade.iso on a card, and going through the Maintenance menu to upgrade. This worked well. I then tried to upgrade the cartography by putting the ray_mfd_AtomCartographyRX5v1_22.upgrade.iso on the microSD card. I’m not sure what you are supposed to do after this, since I went through the menus and did not see any option for updating cartography. Anyway, LH III came up and all looked good.

But, after scrolling around and zooming a bit with the Lighthouse charts, the display update seemed very slow, and then the eS78 froze, not responding to any touches or control inputs. After a minute or so, the unit rebooted. Repeat, same thing several times.

So I downgraded to LH II again using Chuck’s excellent instructions. The upgrade seemed to go well, however the chart app just displays either all black, or blue squares containing “Level: 8”, “Longitude: x” and Latitude: y”. But, I have not had it freeze now that its back on LH II.

More data: I swapped the Navionics chart card from the eS97 to the eS78, and it seems to scroll and zoom OK. Also, if I connect the with RayNet, they both display Navionics OK. Finally, the eS97 displays the Lighthouse charts just fine, so the problem is not a corrupt Lighthouse chart microSD.

I would really like to be able to upgrade/downgrade these units without fear of making them useless!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Gregg

[CA11] Convert Analog Radar to new MFD

$

Hi,

I currently have an analog based open array radar (circa 2005) originally connected to a C-series display and currently connected to E-series MFD. The radar works fantastically, but I would like to upgrade my single MFD to a couple of Axiom MFD's. Does raymarine, or anyone else, make an adapter/converter that would allow my existing and fully functional radar work with the Axiom MFD's (i.e., convert the analog to digital). It seems incredible that I need to trash my radar to upgrade my chartplotters.

Does raymarine have any imminent plans to offer a solid-state open array with doppler/dual range/etc.?

Thanks for any info.

[CA11] tracking route created by auto-route

Hi,

I don't have the exact model of the auto-pilot my boat at the moment, but it is original equipment on a 2005 Searay Sundancer. It was originally connected to a C-series display and currently to an E-series display. I'm considering upgrading to an Axiom MFD which has the auto-routing feature. Can you tell me if my auto-pilot will be able to track a route created by auto-route in the same way that it would be able to track any other route. I only ask because a third party marine electronics manufacturer explicitly states that their auto-guidance routes are not compatible with third party autopilots. This is one of the reasons that I'm leaning towards remaining with a Raymarine MFD, but before making that decision I want to confirm that the Axiom auto-routes will be fully compatible (be able to be tracked) by the existing Raymarine autopilot.

Thanks

The Raymarine Axiom update page says the following...

Applicable for: AXIOM, AXIOM Pro & AXIOM XL LightHouse 3 Multifunction Displays Only
Software Version: v3.9.46
Release Date: April 2019 (Download is constantly updated to include all latest ISO files)

When I try to update my Axiom via wifi I get the following message...

“Do you want to reinstall the current software v3.8.105”

v3.8.105 is the version I currently have installed. Is the v3.9.46 update not available using WiFi?

Thank you

I have an old ST2000+ (10-15 years) that have started to oscillate left/right, not much but clearly visible. It can do so for some time, maybe an hour or so then it stops and the course is stable. Is it due to old age or can I do something? Also I have some problem with overshoot, also not always. When I change course 10 degrees it sometimes has a large overshoot but it can also change course smoothly. I have rudder sensitivity set to 5 and rudder attenuation to 1, which settings I have used all years.
