Hi

I am not sure if I am posting at right place but one of cool features in new Element is option of making your own maps. Looks like that this options become standard for all brands. Can we expect RealBathy on LightHouse for MFDs soon?

[CA11] GPS week rollover in 2019

I looked for this but couldn't find any reference. Maybe I looked in the wrong places but could not find a reference. On April 6, 2019, the GPS Week Number (0 - 1023) will rollover to 0 on Coordinated Universal Time derived from GPS devices. The last time this happened was in 1999. Are Raymarine devices going to be able to handle this? In my specific case, I have two e7D MFD devices. Thanks.

2019 GPS Week Rollover

The 2019 GPS Week Rollover would have a potential effect upon GPS receivers (including GPS sensors and GPS receivers embedded within MFDs, chartplotting products, AIS receivers, and VHF radios). Raymarine is presently investigating this issue and will release updated information at a later date. At that time, this FAQ will be updated with the latest information on this subject. As of the date of this response, we are confident that all a-Series MFDs, c-Series MFDs, e-Series MFDs, eS-Series MFDs, Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs, Raystar 130 GPS Sensor, Raystar 150 GPS Sensor and AR200 Augmented Reality Sensor will be unaffected. We are presently investigating potential impacts to other Raystar GPS Sensors, A-Series Classic MFDs, C-Series Widescreen MFDs, etc..

[CA11] PGN 130312/316 SUPPORT

$

LH3/axiom

Any plans for support of PGN 130312 or 130316 (temperatures). The current support 310 & 311 are extremely limited. I appreciate that Raymarine have commercial drivers ... to pursue support for drones and the like ... but how about support for something more fundamental .. like exhuast gas temperature display.

EGTs are kinda important to many of us ... current temp PGN support is very primitive.

[CA11] Transducers - bronze or plastic?

I upgraded to 2x Axiom 7's (RV) last year on my 210 Whaler Outrage (20 degree deadrise). The RV-100 mounted off the transom (port side) loses depth at speed but bigger issue is it kicks up a lot of spray on plane.

I know if I moved it the starboard side it would probably be more stable holding the bottom but the spray issue will remain.

Therefore I'm considering going with either the RV-220 bronze pack or RV-320 plastic pack. I have no flat areas on my hull so my understanding is I need the pair/pack. Which would you recommend?

I also see a new product - RV-420 in stainless. What can you tell me about that?

Help me decide please? I boat on Georgian Bay in Canada where max depth offshore is only up to about 300-400ft MAX.

Cheers

Attention when carrying out Lighthouse 3 version 3.8.97 Software update to AXIOM prod

We have reports from some customers experiencing difficulties using Chrome (v 72.0.3626.109) to download the software update for Lighthouse 3 version 3.8.97 for AXIOM products.

If the zipped folder is accessed too quickly, before the download is complete it creates a file with the correct name but with the wrong size (i.e 819 MB instead of ~2,51 GB). This file can even be unzipped, but the Axiom update will fail because the download is incomplete.

It is not possible to repair this premature download, the only solution is to repeat the download process again, BUT then WAIT for at least 30 seconds after the download reports it is complete before trying to access the zipped files.

[CA11] Selecting proper transducers

I am looking at upgrading all new electronics, installing (1) Axiom Pro 12 RVX & (1) Axiom Pro 12 S along with new transducers.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of the RV-200 transducer vs. RV-212 paired transducers as far as capabilities go?

I realize there is the deadrise compensation but if I were to use the RV-200, this would be mounting in the center vs on each side.

After softwware update

I have 4 axiom 9 mfd. (2) at the console and (2) at the bow. I have one as the master and two of the units networked to it -

After the latest 3.8.97- I had to do a factory reset because the unit wouldn’t recognize transducer. After getting that figured out. I’m not able to read the water temp at the master unit. I’m getting -.-

Second issue- one that I hadn’t noticed before. I’m losing bottom on plane at higher speeds. Trolling speeds are ok most of the time. I have a p-72 and rv-100.

Do I need to assign where to get the water temp from ? Data source? Reinstall software?

Thanks in advance

[LW11] Nightview on Axiom range

I really miss the nightview on the axiom MFD's. It is even a risk for hitting something in dark waters because sight is blinded by the light of the MFD. Reducing the lightlevel to minimum does not help.
Like my old plotter and B&G it would be great to have a red lighted screenmode for night sailing.
Can you indicate if this is on the roadmap for coming software updates?

[LW11] Axiom 9 3.8.97 Update Failure

Receiving message "Not enough storage space available to perform the update. 20.1 MB of extra space needed in internal memory". The number "20.1" varies depending on which Axiom MFD and when I attempt the update.

I'm getting this message from two Axiom 9 MFDs even when they are each completely disconnected each other and from RayNet and SeaTalkng, only connected to 12 vdc and my wifi. I initially had the MFDs connected to an HS5 switch and the master MFD was connected to the SeaTalkng network and I selected "Check online" from my master MFD. It appeared that everything worked and it updated my Quantum 2 radar, Evolution AP, etc. and the master MFD but I got the above message for the second non-master Axiom. So I made multiple unsuccessful attempts to complete the update procedure without receiving the above message.

However now it appears that both Axiom 9 MFDs are updated. I'm seeing 3.8.97 on the startup Homescreen of both MFDs, as well as on the "Getting started" screen and the Diagnostics "Product information." So it appears that there might be a bug in the update system.

Or, is it possible that my 3.8.97 downloads are corrupted? What should I do now?

For future reference, will the update all procedure update multiple MFDs on a RayNet network, or do the MFDs need to be updated individually?

Finally, is it OK to use "Check online" instead of "Check SD card" if I have strong dependable wifi? It's a lot more convenient.
Thanks

[CA11] EV-400 Rudder feedback

$

In the process of installing Ev-400 system on a 38’ 18,000 lbs boat with triple 300hp Suzuki outboards. EV-400 was chosen due to the steering cylinder size and drive pump needed.

I have read a few places and been told that the rudder reference unit is not needed with outboards. If this is true then it’s a none issue. However if one is needed the rudder reference unit supplied in the kit would have to be mounted on the transom exposed to constant salt water exposure.

I’ve read everything on the site that I thought might be pertaining to this issue but have not seen anything that is a definitive answer.

So question is.....is it a must install? If so any suggestions on mounting the unit and protection from the elements?

Thanks.

[CA11] Upgrading mfd’s

Hi, I have a Raymarine system for a fishing powerboat with two e series mfd’s(9 inch and a 12 inch). I am considering upgrading to the axiom pro’s but would like to know in advance compatibility with what I have:

Ray star 130 GPS receiver
Dsm 300 sonar
Cp100 downvision sonar
P70r, smrtpilot x-10 autopilot
RD424HD digitL Radome
SR6 SIRIUS receiver
AIs 650 class B transceiver
SRA-40 antenna

Would everything still work, what won’t or what would I need to buy in addition?

Thanks in advance

[CA11] CPT-S series transducer specifications

Regarding the CPT-S series transducers, what is the maximum power rating for the bronze thru-hull 20 degree (E70341) transducer? Also, for this same transducer, what range of frequencies does this transducer emit when interfaced with an Axiom Pro S MFD? Does this same transducer provide water temperature?

Thanks!

Replacing an a/c/e/eS-Series MFD(s) with an Axiom Pro MFD(s)

Replacing an a/c/e/eS-Series MFD(s) with an Axiom Pro MFD(s)

MOUNTING: At the time that this FAQ was posted, Raymarine had not released adapter plates for mounting an Axiom MFD within the flush mounting cutout of an a/c/e/eS-Series MFD. Mounting templates and cut-out / footprint dimension for the Axiom MFDs may be found here. Mounting templates and cut-out / footprint dimension for the a/c/e-Series MFDs may be found here.

Please note that the Axiom Pro MFDs may not be installed within an Ethernet (SeaTalkhs/RayNet) network which additionally includes MFDs running LightHouse II software (i.e. a/c/e-Series MFDs). Raymarine's eS/gS-Series MFDs may be updated with LightHouse 3 software to permit them to be interfaced to Axiom Pro MFDs. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Updated eS/gS-Series MFDs and Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs may be mixed or matched in any combination within an Ethernet network. Updated eS/gS-Series MFDs and Axiom MFDMFDs will share system data, most resources, and most features with one another via the Ethernet network to which they will be interfaced.

POWER: Axiom Pro MFDs are designed be powered via the Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable included within the package of the the Axiom Pro MFD. This same Power/NMEA 0183/Video input Cable was used by a9x/a12x MFDs, c/e-Series MFDs, and eS9x/eS12x/eS16x MFDs. Accordingly, the if one these MFDs is being replaced with an Axiom Pro MFD, then the currently installed Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input cable may be left in place for use with the Axiom Pro MFD. However, should an a6x/a7x MFD or eSx7 MFD be replaced with an Axiom Pro MFD, then the currently installed Power Cable will need to be replaced with the Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable supplied with the Axiom Pro MFD.

ETHERNET: Should the a/c/e/eS-Series MFD currently be interfaced one other compatible Raymarine product having an Ethernet communications interface, then the RayNet Cable(s)may simply be unplugged from the a/c/e/eS-Series MFD and then be plugged into the Axiom Pro MFD's Ethernet Network socket(s).

SEATALKNG / NMEA 2000: Should the Data Master a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD be interfaced as a spur to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, then the Data Master Axiom Pro MFD will instead be interfaced to the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Should the vessel's SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone have been constructed using SeaTalkng networking components, then the currently install SeaTalkng Spur Cable will be unplugged from the Data Master a/c/e/eS-Series MFD, adapted with an A06082 SeaTalkng (M) to DeviceNet (F) Spur adapter, and then be plugged into the Axiom Pro MFD's NMEA 2000 socket(s). Should the vessel's SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone have been constructed using third party networking components featuring DeviceNet Micro-C plugs and sockets, then the Axiom Pro MFD's DeviceNet plug may be interfaced as a spur to the NMEA 2000 backbone via an appropriate length (up to 6m) of spur cable from the supplier of the system's NMEA 2000 networking components.

NMEA 0183: Should the currently installed Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable not be re-used, then the NMEA 0183 leads may be disconnected from the currently installed MFD's cable and would instead be interfaced to the corresponding leads of the Axiom Pro MFD's Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable.

EXTERNAL ALARM: Raymarine has recently released the SeaTalk NG Auxiliary Alarm Buzzer. This buzzer is designed to primarily produce alarms triggered by Raymarine instruments and autopilots.

RADAR: Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to add radar features to an Axiom MFD or a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD.

FISHFINDER(s): Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to add fishfinder features to an Pro Axiom MFD. Axiom Pro MFDs are not supported for use with the DSM30, DSM300, CP300, and CP450C fishfinder sounder modules.

Satellite Weather/Radio: LightHouse 3 software supports SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio features when interfaced to SR150 Sirius Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver. Legacy Sirius Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver (i.e. SR100 & SR6) are not compatible with LightHouse 3 software.

Video Input: Raymarine’s Axiom Pro MFDs support video input from analog (NTSC/PAL) video sources and from IP video sources (ex. CAM210IP, CAM220IP, FLIR M100/M200 Thermal Camera, etc.). Should an analog video source presently be interface to the MFD's Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable, then it may be used with the Axiom Pro MFD. Axiom Pro MFDs will encode analog video received via their analog video interface to support sharing this video with the system's Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs. Should the e-Series MFD have been interfaced to a second analog video source, then this source would need to be encoded with a third party video encoder (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC) to viewed via the Axiom MFD.

Video Output: Video is broadcast from the MFD via Miracast technology.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION: While the replacement of this equipment is well within the capabilities of those familiar with marine electronics equipment installation, there will be some cable splicing and cable chasing required. Should this not be within your comfort zone or skills, then click here to locate a Certified Raymarine Installer in your area.

[CA11] My A128 chart plotter has mind of it’s own

$

After a period of use the chart touchscreen starts jumping about (geographically) and zooms in and zoom out continuously - all without human intervention. In addition the menus (Home, WPT, Menu) cease to function. Various drop-down menus (inc Chart Point) appear and then disappear, with all options disabled whilst each is being presented.

The chart plotter functioned correctly from new for (maybe) three years after which the problems identified above started occurring very occasionally. More recently the problems show within a few minutes of the plotter being switched on.
A reboot restores all functionality for a period after which the failures mentioned above start again.

The 128 chart platter is connected with an EM_TRAC B100 AIS device. Might there be some incompatibility that is causing my problems?

Can you advise any actions I should take or do I have to return the plotter to Raymarine?

[CA11] Autopilot tiller arm on a C&C Landfall 38?

$

I'm considering buying an EV-200 autopilot system for our C&C Landfall 38 sailboat.
But installing a tiller arm on these boats is problematic. Does anyone know of successful installs on this model boat, or have advice for tiller arm placement on similar boats with very limited rudder shaft space? Or know any Raymarine dealers with experience in tight tiller arm placements?

There's only a couple inches above/below the Edson radial drive and I'm not sure it will be enough. I'd like to avoid the hack of bolting the autopilot ram to the radial drive, which is strongly discouraged by Edson (some people have done it anyway, but it's certainly not optimal).

Hello-

Our 6 year old i70 unit is becoming increasingly difficult to read in daylight. The screen is significantly dimmer than when new. Does anyone know if this is a product of the backlight or the LCD screen? Is this repairable?
