I have an E120 Classic MFD the product ID is D598, serial # E02013 0380132 and app version 5.69. I want to update my Navionics charts. I was told the CF card size limit for the E120 Classic is 2 GBytes. Is this true?

Thanks

[CA11] UAV app compatibility with DJI mavic 2 series

The new UAV app works fine vith the 1st génération DJI mavics but it acts strange with the new DJI MAVIC 2 which came out in september 2018.
As far as I know, DJI has already issued the new SDK which includes the mavic 2 and the changes are minimal and easy to implement on your existing app which would then be compatible with both mavic 1 and mavic 2
Therefore, please suggest to your devellopers to update this tremendous UAV app quickly because DJI is planning to abandon the mavic 1 line and sell only the mavic 2 in the future
I would also suggest that you include compatibility with the DJI mavic air in future updates because this smaller UAV is very popular with boaters and fishermen and like for the mavic 2, it is easy and quick to make your app compatible with the mavic air

Thanks and regards

[CA11] 1Kw transducer direct on Axiom

Thinking to buy the Axiom DV or RV with CP370 and 1Kw transducer but don't have the budget to buy all at the same time.
Need to catch more fish to have the complete system with the CP370 and the DV/RV transducers.
Can I buy the Axiom DV or RV and for now, only the 1Kw transducer to give me depth. How deep will this go?

How do I remove the drive sprocket from the motor.
I have read the is secured by 601 bearing retainer, the removal of that requires heat
Which I'm reluctant to use due to the risk to the motor.
Looking forward to your response,
Cheers

[CA11] Unaddressed LH 3 feature missing

The last updated list of gap features for LH2-to-3 doesn't mention updating product software via Wi-Fi and/or connecting the MFD to a Wi-Fi access point. For MFD's running LightHouse II software, this feature was used for WiFi bridging, where users can connect to the MFD via Wi-Fi while also having the MFD act as a client to a different access point, allowing the clients connected to the MFD and the MFD itself to have access to the Internet. While this feature is supported by Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs running LightHouse 3 software it is not presently supported by eS/gS-Series MFDs which are running LightHouse 3 software. Not having this feature means that users are forced to update both system and navigational/charting applications manually and independently. It also is cumbersome to use under way when external connectivity is required.

Is it possible to confirm if this feature can be expected to be added? Can its omission be included in the list of LHII to LH3 gap features?

For me, this feature disparity is a show stopper. Will be reverting back to LH2 until it's addressed.

e95 MFD won't boot

I installed an e95 MFD along with an EV-100, and i70 and i50 instruments this spring. I updated all the software during the installation. All have worked well, until recently when the e95 started to be very slow to boot up. Now I can’t get it to boot. I have not changed or added anything on the network.

There’s a weak beep when I press the e95 power button, but the display does not change. I’ve tried cycling the power at the circuit breaker to no effect. I measured the voltage to the e95 at the terminal block inside my NavPod at 12.9 Volts.

Should I send the e95 in for repair?

[CA11] Openseamap on LH3

Dear Developper team,

I found that it is possible on several other companies chartplotter to use free (open source) maps available here and they seem precise enough to be of value.
http://www.openseamap.org/index.php?id=k...wnload&L=1

It is possible to download the files in several formats:
-openCPN
-navico (AT5) (Lowrance, Simrad, B&G)
or
-Garmin

I don't think it is currently possible to use open format charts on the axiom,
or is it possible to convert those to a currently supported file format?
Apparently they are also starting to add depth data in the developpment maps.

Thank you in advance for your reply and support.

[CA11] Transducer Clarification

I have purchased an i70 and will be replacing both separate speed and depth transducers.

I understand I will need the iTC-5 unit to work with i70, and am looking at the ST60/290 speed transducer and either the P19 or CPT-S as a depth.

Plan being when I upgrade the existing plotter I already have a transducer that will provide sonar readings to the plotter if going down the CPT-S route.

Would this set up work with just the i70 in the meantime?

[CA11] Spotify SD Storage

Hi

I have two Axiom 9´s on the same network.

The DM runs the RV transducer and NAvionics chart. The slave has an empty SD slot.

Q1: Can I store Spotify app tracks on an SD on the slave?
Q2: Will the DM be able to see those tracks or are the apps independent (non networkable)?

Thanks,

Tito

[CA11] St2000+ connected to CSx76 Garmin

Has anyone had experience connecting the GPS to the TP?
I tried to connect the NMEA output from GPS to the NMEA input of the autopilot but it doesn’t work.
I set the output of the garmin to NMEA and verified that some signal is present (I don’t know if the code is correct but looks like a digital signal)
The autopilot seems not receiving any information.
The TP manual says that the track mode must be activated pressing the +10 and -10 simultaneously while the gps is following a route to a waypoint, but the TP is not reacting at all.
Anyone has suggestions to sort the problem out?
Am I doing something wrong?

Thx
Salvo

[CA11] Use Raymic Extension or HSB as SeatalkNG Cable?

$

I have a dual-helm boat that has a Ray260 installed near the lower helm with an extension going to a RayMic on the flybridge. It previously had 2 RL80Cs installed, with a HSB running between them.

I am installing a c125 on the flybridge and an a78 at the lower helm. I'd like to avoid running another cable if possible, but would like them networked so the a78 can get radar and chart data from the c125. I am willing to sacrifice the RayMic at lower helm in favor of my portable VHF, since I only use that helm about 10% of the time max.

Is there any way I can repurpose the HSB or RayMic cables to network the c125/a78, either through adapters or splicing? Or do I have to run a SeaTalk ng cable between them?

Things to be considered prior to purchasing second hand marine electronics

Things to be considered prior to purchasing second hand marine electronics

Whenever one is considering whether to purchase second hand marine electronics and/or is considering whether to invest time and resources in the installation of second hand marine electronics, it is recommended that one proceed with caution to fully understand whether accessories, parts, service, and support remain available for the second hand marine electronics before proceeding. Those considering such are also advised to fully understand the limitations of the proposed system, compatibility of the marine electronics, and further limitations with respect to future marine electronics additions to the system. Finally, comparisons should be made with currently manufactured products to determine whether the additional features, warranty, availability of support, availability of parts, and availability of service of currently manufactured marine electronics may be a more prudent alternative ... such comparisons should particularly be heeded by blue water sailors, cruisers, professionals, and others for whom reliable operation, support, parts, and service are essential. Armed with this information, one may then ascertain whether the risks of proceeding with second hand marine electronics are prudent. It would also be prudent to test the components off of the vessel before committing to their installation ... better to perform such verification on the bench than later finding out that one or more of the devices is faulty, will not support integration with the system's other devices, or cannot be easily replaced.

[CA11] Sea talk Gateway physical installation question

$

I successfully connected my new Sea talk gateway to my Tack Tick micronet network and to my ST2000 plus auto pilot. It was extremely easy to setup.

My question is in regards to the physical installation of the gateway. The instructions call for mounting horizontally with the arrow pointing either forward or backwards but not to the side of the boat.

My sea trial was sailing using my wind instrument and autopilot under wind control with the gateway loose on the bottom of the cockpit. I tested every possible position with no impact on performance.

I would like to understand why it needs to be mounted horizontally and pointing forward when it woul be more useful to be mounted vertically and beside my wind instrument. With a vertical position I would be able to monitor the status led from the cockpit.

I almost did not purchase this gateway because of the mounting position.

[CA11] A65 Compatability

Hi, I currently have a RC530 Plus plotter with RS125 gps linked into my 230e VHF/Depth/Speed/Flux gate compass/High speed heading using the sea talk connection...(I've not connected the NEMA 0183 as I don't have an autopilot yet)
I'm looking at upgrading my plotter to a newer Raymarine A65 but notice that this unit only has a NEMA input...
Am I correct in thinking that I could connect this to the smart heading units NEMA output and receive depth/speed etc through this.

Kind Regards

[CA11] Do I need autopilot and wind displays?

$

Hello,
I'm just installed an Axiom 7, and ES78
I have autopilot motor from an older S3 computer. The motor still works wekk but the computer failed as well as all other instruments due to a lightning strike.
I want to connect a VHF with built in AIS, Wind transducer and autopilot all through Nema 2000 network.

My questions are:
1. What VHF with AIS is most compatible
2. Do I need a wind display or will the MFDs work without the stand alone wind display?
3. If I buy the autopilot computer will it work directly with the MFD I have or do I also need a stand alone autopilot display?
4. Will a less expensive camera work with the system or only the raymarine camera?

Its going on a Lagoon 380.
Thanks for the help
Tim

[CA11] LHIII.6 advanced manual questions

$
0

The manual has a couple comments on upgrading the III that I cant find a lot of info on.

Quote:Before you perform the upgrade, the following considerations need to be taken into account:

Digital switching
Upgrading to LightHouse™ 3 will erase all Digital switching files loaded on your MFD. Once erased, these files will be unrecoverable, potentially rendering the Digital switching system unusable.
Digital switching solutions must be converted, before performing the upgrade to LightHouse™ 3. Contact Raymarine Technical Support, who will guide you through the process and perform the necessary file conversion.

Autopilots
Legacy SeaTalk ® and SPX autopilots cannot be controlled by MFDs running LightHouse™ 3. A Pilot control head will be required to control legacy autopilot systems.

So...

1: How do you backup LHII switching files, so they can be restored on a downgrade?
2: What does it mean that LHIII wont be able to talk to a legacy AP? Right now, LHII can control my AP via the seatalkng port and a raymarine seatalk NG to 1 converter.

Thanks in advance
