[CA11] Ray 215 Service

I'm getting ready to send in my Raymarine 215 VHF for service. The unit turns on and beeps and controls work but there is no audio past the beep. The microphone is in good shape, tx works, channel up/down works. I checked all connections to the unit.

Does this sound like a repairable problem? I really, really do not want to upgrade or change to a different unit because it will involve dashboard modifications that I'm not sure I'll be able to make. Please advise. I'd really like to retain this unit.

[CA11] LH3 Dashboard/Navigarion wind indication

Is it possible to edit which data indicators are visible on the LH3 Dashoboard/Navigation compass display? I do not have a wind direction sensor on my power boat and tide direction is only rarely a factor in my navigation. I would find the screen to be more usable if the uneeded indicators were not cluttering up screen. On the other hand, I would sometimes find it useful to be able to display an indicator for BTW on the compass screen.

I was unable to find instructions for this in the Advanced Operations Manual so I expect that the answer is no. If this is the case, please log my inquiry as a feature request.

[CA11] P70R Firmware Update Question

I have a P70R head unit with a Smart Pilot X5-R unit that I must update due to it's being obsolete. I am going to a EV-1 and ACU-150 hydraulic solution. I read that I must update my P70R to the latest firmware. I do not have any other raymarine head unit/equipment with an SD card reader with the exception of my Lowrance HDS7 Gen3. Can I get the Seatalkng to communicate to the NEMA2000 on the HDS7? I have already purchased the seatalkng to nema2000 hardware conversion cable. Can I update the firmware for the P70R thru the HDS7gen3? Any assistance or links to reading material on this topic would be greatly appreciated. thanks Mick

[CA11] C80 display fuzzy

Several times now I've turned on the C80 and sometimes the whole display is fuzzy, you can kind of see what's there but it's jumping back and forth. Sometimes it's just the top data boxes that are effected.
I've "fixed" it by tonking the top edges of the C80 with the palm of my hand.
What's the permanent fix to make the display work properly when the system is turned on?

[CA11] Quantum vs Quantum 2 at seeing rain

From a previous post Steve stated:
"With the lower power it will not be as good as a 4kW HD radar at seeing soft targets at distance (e.g. birds, rain, etc.) From our testing the maximum range Quantum has been able to identify a rain storm is approximately 6 miles."

Does this still hold true for the new Quantum 2 radomes?

Weighing my options between a Quantum 2 vs a RD418HD.

[CA11] Axiom 12 MFD and an RV-220 Issue

I recently purchased and installed (or my marine electronics mechanic did..) an Axiom 12 MFD and an RV-220 (20 degree starboard) transducer.

When he connects the transducer to the Axiom it doesn't register...like its not there.
I bought the one transducer (Individual RealVision 3D™ Thru-Hull CHIRP Transducer, Starboard) because Raymarine technical service told me "when you get one, its usually the starboard". Or at least that's what the guy on the phone told me that day.

Since its been installed, my mechanic is going nuts trying to figure out why it wont work. He called Raymarine and the guy he spoke to said "you need two of them". Thats the first I've heard of that. And I don't see anywhere on the website where it says you need to have two of them to work? Is that true?

I find it hard to believe that the unit is defective or broken right out of the box.

[CA11] ES127 Screen Size

I have two ES127 MFD's on my boat. The master unit is split into 4 screens, Radar, Chart, Fish Finder, and Weather.

Does Raymarine plan to have a software update that would allow me to change the size of the screens displayed? I would like to shrink the screen size for radar , fish finder and weather and enlarge the chart ( I use this screen to show a larger view to the path, so I see if I'm approaching a turn) that is displayed on this MFD. I am running Lighthouse 2, V19.03 software on the units.

I reserve the second MFD for viewing the other functions that the system offers, but mainly run the chart

[CA11] Rd424HD shuts off

I have a new Rd424HD that operates fine unless the unit is asked to operate past 6 mi scale. Also, same symptom of shutting off when the faster speed is chosen in ranges below 6mi. The radar is using the 15m cable length, I’m concerned that it may be experiencing voltage drop.

Does that seem probable vs software?

Unit connected to an Axiom Pro 12 RVX, with latest software. —no network switch.

Axiom 9 freezing on power on

Hi, I’ve had an issue a several times now with my screen freezing up when I power the system on. The only way to clear it is to cut power at the main switch and reboot everything. It is running the latest software 3.4.66. I have two Axiom 9s, Quantum Radar, CP470, HS5, EV200, RAY52 VHF. Everything is essentially brand new except the 470 and the EV200 which I carried over from my old rig. I checked online for updates again today so I know everything else is current too. The one that freezes is the slave. The data master display never does it (although it did crash and reboot once today, probably unrelated to this issue I’m more concerned about).

I’m starting to wonder if it’s something to do with the HS5 or something else on the network. I have these set to power up with all the other electronics when I flip a switch at my helm. I assume this should be okay to do? Or should I have the HS5 on a separate switch and power it on first? Is this a known issue? Any solutions? I am very hesitant to do a factory reset since I’ve spent a lot of time setting the pages how I want them. Can I reset the slave without losing all the pages?

(DG) Rudder Pump Oscillations

I was wondering if you might be able answer the following questions for me please.

Backstory:
EV1, ACU200 and P70s installed on a SeaRay SedanBridge 52 replacing an older Raymarine course computer and head unit, type 1 hydraulic pump was kept from previous installation. This was done as part of a larger system upgrade.

After installing the new system the rudder and pump hunt continuously (underway and at the dock) around it's target position. This didn't happen with the old system from what I saw or as reported by the owner.

System is a hydraulic Hynautic servo/cylinder arrangement powered by the starboard main engine with a Seastar Helm connected to the servo cylinder. This has now been bled and no work was performed on it inbetween replacement of the autopilot system.

Rudder reference has been replaced, no change in behavior.
Factory reset and commissioning completed multiple times, no change in behavior.

Questions:

1. I've looked everywhere for the setting referenced in previous posts to decrease the rudder sensitivity(Deadband). Where is this accessed on the P70s please?

2. What further items can be checked or altered to make this work.

(DG11) Intermittent depth

I have a Raymarine suite of products from around 2005 on my sailboat. Recently the depth is intermittently not working. The trial data instrument has visible moisture inside the display and I suspect is causing the problem.

I have reseated all connectors with no change.

I think at this point, the tridata instrument is likely the culprit. In that case, what are my options? I would like to keep the system as intact as possible replacing as few things as necessary. I do not need a tridata instrument display as depth is shown on the MFD and other instruments.

Can I replace my transducer with a NMEA 2000 airmar depth and interface that into my current seatalk network?

(DG11) Autopilot Display Reading Hard Starboard when rudder centered

I updated my autopilot to a Raymarine EV100 last year. Worked perfectly. This winter I had the Seastar hydraulic ram replaced (the old one was leaking). The steering works fine but the helm display shows 30 degrees starboard rudder angle when the rudder is centered. I tried going through the set up again but the problem persists (the position of the rudder angle sensor wasn't changed when the new ram was put in and the ram/ tiller arm are parallel when rudder is amidships.

Any thoughts on how to correct this?

(DG11) Seatalk NG Starter Kit Questions

Hello, I have read just about every link and post provided however a very basic question has not been answered.

I see in every diagram, that a Seatalk NG power cable is plugged into the blue backbone with a white to blue T.
There is not a single reference diagram with the basic kit showing if it allowed to simply plug the white end of the power cable into an empty white port on the Seatalk NG switch.

With my Starter kit, I have two blue terminators, and 3 white blanks.

I plan to use the white blanks as such:

1. Power
2. Spur to MFD
3. Devicenet cable 06045 to NMEA200

I have an Axiom 12 and an Axiom Pro 12 connected to each other with Raynet 62361.

RV-100 Transducer connected to the Axiom Pro 12.
iCom VHF connected Pro 12 via NMEA 0183 cables

Not sure why I need power on the Seatalk NG, perhaps for the legacy thru hull Transducers?

So simply, put can I put the power into the white port or do I need to use a Blue-white T into backbone?

I will also add a Ray 52, does that connect with a Raynet Spurs or through the NMEA 2000? I hope it over Raynet spur.

[CA11] I70 Dangerous Targets Alarm always reboots turned ON

Hello,

I'm looking to stop this annoyance;

At end of day the boat is tied up I will turn off all navigation equipment on my yachts 24V panel, the next morning I turn the Nav equipment on preparing to leave, everything loads up and the I70 has forgotten my selection to have dangerous target alarm OFF and begins sounding the alarm because I'm in a harbour/ anchorage surrounded by AIS targets, unless i've raced through the menu to select dangerous targets OFF already (if you're too slow the alarm sounds and you're back to square one), the buttons are near destruction because I do this once or twice a day. I have no use for the I70's AIS alarm, I would set the alarm on the MFD if required.

Surely the I70 has memory, it can remember a preference such as depth displayed in feet or metres?

In my AIS Alarms list I am seeing UTC invalid sync.

The alarm values indicate the following:

ID:7
AIS: UTC Sync invalid
Fault:No
Ack: No

Is there a way to resolve this alarm/remove it?

My AIS700 unit is linked to my E-120 MFD.

I wanted to ask if there was a way to go back in the updates in order to get the EV-200 to work in track mode with a Garmin 7610xsv. I do not have a compatible Raymarine MFD and so I wanted to k ow how I can achieve going back? Is there a card reader or something similar that will hook up to SeaTalk to do this?
