[CA] RC435i & Navionics charts

$

I have a RC435i chart plotter with an installed Navionics US Northeast CF card. The chart data that is displayed is for Long Island Sound area which is where I purchased the boat. I brought the boat to Lake Ontario and there is no chart data displayed. Is there a way to unlock or load the local chart data onto the chart Plotter? The unit works great but is useless without chart data. Hate to get rid of it due to no charts available.

[CA] iPad NavX, IPAD, to ES7 series chart plotter routes and waypoint transfer

I purchased this past summer a eS7 series chartplotter, Hybrid. Very pleased with the purchase although I also have iNaxX on my iPad and find it is easier to set a route on the iPad. Is there a way to put routes and waypoints in the iPad iNavX and then transfer to the Chartplotter?

I am seeing an instrument named, "iNav Connect" that says it does it using wifi. Great if it works. Does it work? Or is there another way that is recommended?

[CA] Ev-150 Deviation Cruise and No Change in "Detecting Magnetics" status

$

I'm having a problem with the final calibration step of a EV150 Autopilot that I purchased new from TheGPS Store approximately 3 weeks ago.

The overall installation went well. No real problems. I've successfully completed the Dockside Wizard per the Raymarine instructions. And all of the vessel parameters have been entered.

But the final step of calibrating requires a determination of the magnetic deviation of the EV-1 sensor by going on a slow (3-15kts) seatrail performing "Figure 8s" for 15-20 minutes. I believe this step is technically referred to as the "deviation cruise"

During this time, the "progress bar" on the AP control head should progressively change from red to green color and get longer indicating a successful calibration. Here's the problem: none of this happens. The progress bar never moves. I've made small turns. I've made big, wide turns. I've made figure 8's. I've done circles. I've gone slow (5kts). And I've gone fast (10 kts). Nothing changes. The status bar never moves and never changes colors. It's red.

Below are the software version of each component:

EV-1: v.2.18 (E70096)
p70Rs: v.3.07 (E70329)
ACU: v.2.23 (E70430)

Per the Raymarine website, these are the most recent versions of each component.

As background: I've read through this thread several times regarding AP calibration and setup: http://forum.raymarine.com/showthread.php?tid=99

I've read through this thread related to software updates and what is required for recalibrating the AP: http://forum.raymarine.com/showthread.php?tid=904

The "compass lock" feature has been placed both "on" and "off" during the deviation cruise and I've seen no change in calibration success.

During the Dockside Wizard setup, I did witness the motor turn to port and turn to starboard when prompted (so I know that the pump is working correctly)

The backbone and all spurs are installed per Raymarine instructions/manuals. And noise-suppressing ferrites are installed on both the ACU 5-amp power supply, the 15-amp power supply as well as the pump leads to the ACU.

sidebar question: Can the STng (white) communication cable from the EV-1 be connected to a spur and the spur then connected to the backbone via a STng(blue) cable? Or does the STng (white) cable from the EV-1 need to be fed directly to the backbone? I asked a technician on the 1-800 Raymarine customer support line this same question and he indicated that I could use the STng (blue) cable to connect the spur to the backbone.

FYI - The EV-1 sensor is located 5ft away from the Raymarine Type 1 pump. And 4.5ft away from the starting and house battery. There are no electrical wires/cables near the EV-1 sensor. I have taken a small hand-held compass into the area where the EV-1 is mounted and see no magnetic deviation. Sidebar: When powered-up, the green light on the EV-1 sensor is "lit". Also, the green light on the ACU is also "lit".

So what am I missing?

[CA] Red path on Axiom Pro RVX

New Configuration: Dual Axiom Pro RVX 12, EV 150 autopilot, 24 inch HD radar, RV100, B175HW, M265LM, RS-150, 70 VHF, Navionics Platinum+. Went out on sea trials this weekend. New electronics worked very nice. I did notice a wide red path on the chart screen about 50 foot wide from the home-port marina out to the inlet. Look at the Lighthouse manual from the March 2018 update and didn't see anything noted. What is this?

Thanks

(DG) i60 Calibration

The company that sold and installed this instrument along with 2 i60 displays and a Raymarine Autopilot has completely stopped communicating and left me with a wind instrument that is 40 to 60 degrees off.... and when I attempt to calibrate per instructions, I get an error message. I remember the installer telling me that they used the one of the i60 displays as the "master" when they supposedly calibrated it.
Can you please advise how I can determine what is going on and get this calibrated? Thanks!

Is it possible to purchase the i70 or i70S display with a compatible wind vane only? I could only find package deals on my Internet search.

Thanks.

[DG] EV autopilot questions

On my sailing boat, I have an autopilot consisting of one EV1 compass, one ACU 100 actuator control unit, one p70s control head and one mechanical Q047 tiller actuator, all this interfaced with an Axiom MFD by Seatalk NG.
I installed all this as per Raymarine instructions and therefore I did not fit any rudder angle indicator.

The system works Ok and the performance is good, even under sail in rough conditions.

However, this system is open loop based and seems to work simply by timing the impulsions sent from the ACU to the actuator and does not have any ruder angle feedback. As I am very familiar with marine electronics because it used to be my job as chief engineer before retirement, I know for a fact that closed loop autopilots with rudder angle feed back generally have much better performance than open loop systems.
I also have an M81105 rudder angle transducer left over from a previous installation which I can easily install on my boat rudder and I noticed that the ACU100 has an imput for the rudder angle.

My question is therefore: will my autopilot perform really better with a rudder angle feedback and is it really worth the trouble of installing and wiring the M81105 rudder angle indicator ????

Please keep in mind that I am sometimes racing long distance and single handed so the best possible autopilot performance is required

Thanks in advance for your reply

Best regards

My e7 MFD's screen has turned green and has vertical lines on it. This happened as I sailed to Guatemala where I am now. Are there any known fixes for this?

[CA] c120 software update

I downloaded the most recent software for my c120 classic. One file is C_App_Prod516.pkg. The video shows opening this and then copying individual files to the root of the CF card. I can not open this. For "type" this says file not folder so I am not sure additional file exist. I have tried this in my C120 but I do not get any update utility screens. Do I need to do something different on my CF card or when copying these files?

Thank you for the help.

[CA] Creating autoroute a78

So I have been having issues creating a AutoRoute, when creating AutoRoute by means of entering waypoint from keypad it tells me it cant safely create route and gives me only two waypoints. If i do it by means dragging icon and placing it, it works fine and this is how I always have done it , but figured it would be more accurate by placing by using key pad. What am I doing wrong with keypad placement.

It works by finger placement and the problem seems to be when placing waypoint with keypad. Just for your knowledge base
Thanks again

I have an ST70 and SPX30 unit and I'm getting a message of "No Pilot"
Can someone help me and let me know if there is anything I could test to see what is going on. I have tested the power comming into the X30 is at 12.5 and the ST 70 turns on and I could scroll through the set up menu. I have attached pictures so you could see how the x30 and the st 70 are wired if that helps.

Thank you

I am installing the AxiomPro and will be connecting to a 32" flat screen. I need to purchase the HDMI dongle. I am looking at the Anycast from IFlashjump on Amazon for $20.49. I like the cable that comes with the unit which gives you the remote antenna. Has anyone used this device?
Thanks

Hi, i have a spx 10 autopilot computer. It has worked great since installed. Today i accidently knocked the switch to my instruments off, when i switched the back on the autopilot head st6002 said no pilot.

I have a spare autopilot head, so tried that and it still said no pilot. On checking the spx 10 computer, all fuses are ok, but the 2 red fault lights are on above the seatalk connections into the computer???

The seatalk system seems to be fine, as all other elements of the system are recieving the seatalk informantion.

Any help or thoughts are apprieciated.

Will my wind vane work with the new i70s for wind gauge.

Current setup is:
Axiom MFD (installed working)

Upgrading the:
Smart pilot
2 of the tridata st60+(inside at nav station, one on the helm in cockpit)
St60+ wind at helm

Going with:
Evolution EV-1, type 2 ram, ACU 400,i70s(to be installed)
ITC-5 converter for transducers (will that convert the wind vane)
3 i70s multi's
1. dedicated for wind(is a sail boat)
2. dedicated as multi use at nav station inside
3. dedicated as multi use at helm

I was told that the ITC will convert the transducers but have not gotten clear confirmation with the wind.

Thanks in advance.

(DG) ES128 MFD connecting to an S3 autopilot

$

I have an S3 autopilot (with rudder indicator & type 1 motor) connecting with a Seatalk cable to a D244 junction box, which then connects to a P70Rs control head via an adaptor cable ST to STng. The other P70rs STng socket being connected to a 5 way backbone, its 3 centre white sockets being connected as 12v power, P70rs, ES128, the 2 blue ends having blacking plugs.

The MFD says "No Autopilot Connected", the P70Rs is connected to the MFD as it is showing depth.

I'd like to use the autopilot through the MFD, is it a case of the S3 being too old or have I connected this up incorrectly?

I inherited an all Autohelm package. The wind transducer was bad so replaced it with R28170. The head does not have a calibrate button. In it's place is the selector from apparent to true.
How does one calibrate it? Not as concerned about wind speed as I understand it isn't going to be accurate but direction is important to me.
Thank you.

[CA] Axiom 7 and Axiom 9 Setup

$

Hi Support,

I have added an Axiom 7 surfaced mounted to my boat and linking it with the Axiom 9. Currently I have an installed Nav card in the Axiom 9 and also have a newer Navionics card to be installed. My questions below:

1) On my existing Axiom 9 unit I have the old card with saved waypoints. What would the best practice be to move over to the new card?

2) Would it be better to keep my old card in the one unit and just install the new card in the Axiom 7 since they are linked?

3) Last, I'm going to upgrade the units once install is finished to the latest firmware. Do I need a memory card in each unit to do this?

Thank you for your assistance.
