Headset for use with Raymarine VHF radios

Raymarine does not offer any VHF radio headsets. We generally refer customers to the David Clark Company, which has much experience in interfacing Raymarine radios to headsets with microphones.

I have a ACU400, EV1 and p70 Auto Pilot Control head on a Seatalkng network with a B&G MFD. The system was working fine last summer. This fall l I added a B&G radar and wifi to the network and now when I push the AUTO button on the p70 I get the message No Navigation Data on the screen and the wheel turns slowly in one direction. Any idea what's wrong? I've attached pictures of instruments and a drawing of network.
Thanks,
Steve

[CA] Airmar Smart Sensor w/ Axiom 9

As noted in other posts, I have upgraded twin E80’s with autopilot with the Axiom 9 and the EV-150 Auto Pilot. Both the Axiom 9 and EV-150 are installed and working.

I still have one E80 working as a stand alone for radar. It is also connected to the Airmar Smart Sensor via a 5 pin connector. The Airmar Smart Sensor cable is routed from the transducer to behind the helm, where the blue, white, red and black wires are connected to a terminal board. The 5 pin connector is wired from the terminal board, connected to the E80.

Q1: Is it possible to connect the transducer (from the terminal board) to a SeaTalkNG backbone? If so, would this then network for use on the Axiom 9?

Q2: Currently the system only reads depth, without any fish finder details. What is needed to add fish finder capabilities?

Thanks, Dave

[CA] Axiom and Analog Radar

Hi I have two questions that would help me if there is a resolution.

1) I have a 2006 320DA Sundancer with Ratheone analog radar that works well with my C80 MDF. I also have a Axion Rayvision MDF, can this radar be interfaced to the Axiom MDF.

2) I have also purchased a CPT300 transducer not installed as of yet. The unit I removed a A78 had a CPT100 which currently is connected to the Axiom. Is there any benefit of keeping the CPT100 installed when I install the 3D transducer?

Thanks for consideration

I have a es128, went to use the boat and it isn’t “seeing” my Navionics card (subscription good till 9/18). Everything worked fine last time out- no updates or anything (running v19.03). A message box popped up saying “no data on card”(see attached). I then updated the card again via computer and same message. Again- all worked fine last time out. No changes made to card (was not even ejected) nor MFD. just the message. Help please as I need it because we’re running the boat tonight.

Testing the microSD memory card reader slot(s) of a LightHouse II MFD

Testing the microSD memory card reader slot(s) of an a/c/e/eS-Series MFD or Remote Chart Card Reader

The microSD memory card reader of MFD is located on the front lower right hand side of the MFD's face. The Remote Chart Card Reader will feature either two micro?SD memory card slots or a single SD memory card slot. In the case of the latter, the Remote Chart Card Reader must be used with a SD to microSD adapter sleeve.

The microSD memory card reader slot(s) of an a/c/e/eS-Series MFD or Remote Chart Card Reader may be tested as follows:
1) switch the MFD ON and permit it to complete start-up initialization
2) insert a compatible microSD memory card into the device's memory card reader
3) execute the command HOME->MY DATA->MY FILES
4) examine the My Files dialog to verify that the corresponding drive (SD card 1, SD card 2, External SD card 1, etc.) may be selected ... if so, then tested memory card reader slot is deemed to be operational. Should the corresponding drive not be listed, then a problem with the MFD's memory card reader slot or the microSD memory card has occurred
5) press the BACK arrow / button once to return to the My Data dialog
6) Eject the microSD memory card (IMPORT/EXPORT->EJECT SD CARD)
7) Upon receiving confirmation that it is safe to eject the microSD memory card, remove it from the MFD's memory card reader slot.
8) Repeats steps 2-7, to test each of the MFD's memory card reader slots as well as those of the optional Remote Chart Card Reader should one be installed.

Should a problem be identified with any of the slots of the MFD's microSD memory card reader or that of the optional Remote Chart Card Reader, then the MFD or optional Remote Chart Card Reader respectively should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

[CA] EV-400 Pilot Commissioning

I just installed an EV-400 pilot on a Defever 48. The EV-400 replaced a Simrad J300/AP21 pilot.
The RPU160 hydraulic pump was retained.
Steering ram capacity is 26.0". Does that indicate that I should select type 3 hydraulic pump as the drive type?
Thank you.

Shared charts

Hi,

... I have looked for my earler post on the subject but failed to find it

We have just recently installed a new network with Axiom 7 and Axiom Pro 12.

My expectation was that the MFDs would share the Navionic charts but was informed that the current Lighthouse 3 version does not include this function and that new new Lighthouse 3.4 version would tackle the issue. It was also said that the new update should be available mid March....
Please, could anyone let me know as by when a new lighthouse version will be available which would then hopefully include the function of sharing charts between the MFDs.

cheers
Joachim

[CA] Axiom Pro transducer.

Hello, I am interested in upgrading my Raymarine C80 to an Axiom Pro. I'm primarily interested in fish finding with 3d rendering and understand the RV-200 transducer is recommended for the Axiom Pro. I plan to only use built in sonar module and do NOT plan to add external sonar module like Cp570. I fish in central california in 30-300 ft for yellowtail, WSB, and rockfish primarily.

My question regards the transducer. Is there a better choice of transducer than the RV-200 for the Axiom Pro. For instance would it be useful to use an Airmar B275 CHIRP 1KW wide beach transducer. Would there be any benefit? I know it would cost more but trying to understand any current or future benefit, considering it would be a thru-hull transducer install.

Thanks,

[CA] Best Transducer Choice for a98 on Trojan 370 Cruiser

Last year I purchased an a98 for my Trojan 370 Express Cruiser. As I am preparing for the season, I will be ordering the transducer for it very soon. I have looked at the CPT-S and the CPT-120 and I am trying to figure out the different impact of each or if there is a better option which may be suggested for this boat/MFD combination. The descriptions of these products seemed pretty vague as to why I might choose one over the other, and I am a newbie at this. I boat primarily in the Lake Erie Islands area, and the boat has twin v-drives, and a maximum speed of about 27 Knots (I never run it at that), with a cruising speed of 17-22 Knots.

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to the CPT-S or CPT-120 for my application? Is there something different that I should consider?

[CA] SeatalkNG Converter

Can you please point me to a location on the forum or answer the following question for me please.

I would to know the wire color coding of the Yellow cable that plugs into the center tap of the SeatalkNG/Seatalk converter. I was on a boat the other day with a connection setup I've not seen before. Owner was having issues with the system and I suspect it's the cause.
I always thought that Red was power, Bare/Shield was ground and yellow is data. However there were two other cores being used, white and brown.
Can you please confirm what is what.
Thanks.

[CA] MFD update with exist transducer?

$

I currently have a C80 classic with a ST60 and was interested in upgrading to better technology with touch screen fast response in an 9" display. My boat is a cruiser and I travel the northeast coastline.

I would rather not replace my Airmar P319, P/N: 31-168-9-01 through hull transducer.

It doesn't appear I can use the Axiom 9 unfortunately. What other Raymarine unit would be compatible with my transducer, talk to my ST60 unit, and have a C80 adaptor plate available?

Thanks in advance.

[CA] new features

I downloaded the just released lighthouse 3.4.66 on to a micro SD card to install on my Axiom MFD via the Raymarine external card reader. The MFD could not read the update from slot #2 (slot 1 has the cmap chart card installed. I had to remove the chart card from slot 1 and place the update card in slot 1 and it updated just fine. However, now the external card reader no longer reads the cmap card. I tried both external slots and even disconnected the remote reader and inserted the card in the back of the MFD. Any thoughts on curing this issue? Perhaps the Cmap card went bad?

Also, the new apps work fine with blue tooth. However, when speaking with your reps at FLIBS I was told that the blue tooth feature would project alarms. I tested this with the blue tooth speaker paired to the mfd, volume turned up and set off the shallow water alarm. No sound from the blue tooth speaker. Am I missing some setting?

Thank you,
Marc

[CA] A75 GPS data to GX1500S VHF

Read through this closed thread by Chuck and have a couple questions:

"Using GPS data from a SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 GPS source to supply a DSC VHF Radio"

My A75 plotter, I40 Wind, I40 Tri data and Evolution autopilot are all networked and functioning properly.

I have a Standard Horizon Quest-X GX1500S radio that was getting GPS data. It was wired in through a series of splicing, twists, frayed wires, etc that was done by a previous owner. I took it apart to do the SeaTalkng backbone properly for the above instruments.

Now I want to get the GPS data back into the VHF for the DSC feature and on the radio display.

I have the Seatalk cable pictured here - yellow connector, white/black cable, two exposed wires (red and yellow)

If I wire the red & yellow wires on the cable to the VHF NMEA inputs (positive to positive, negative to negative), can I just plug the yellow connector into a "T" at the end of the backbone, or does this need to go through the converter bus (two blue plugs, two white plugs, yellow in the middle)?

Also, what is the difference between these two kits:

https://www.thegpsstore.com/Raymarine-Se...dPEALw_wcB

and:

Thanks,

Also, the Tide function that has been added, can you give me a little more detail on what i should be seeing. What i get looks like a audio player with play, pause and fast forward functions. I guess i was look for simple charts?

[CA] Tiller Pin Linear Drive 2

Hello, the tiller pin has sheared off on my Type 2 Linear drive. The only thing I could locate for replacement is Part #K065. I have no idea how old my unit is and am assuming the pin does look different now. I am attaching a picture of the broken tiller pin, it is 3 1/8 long in the picture...the missing piece of the bolt is still down in the bilge so I do not know its length. The shaft thickness is 1/2 inch. Could you tell me if the K065 is indeed the replacement pin for my installation. thanks

[CA] RV-300 Transducer Documentation

I cannot seem to find the RV-300 Transducer documentation. It looks like it is supposed to be here:
https://raymarine.app.box.com/s/omdmmb6o...9685019954

However, there is only documentation for the RV-2xx version. Is the RV-200 the same as the RV-300, other than bronze versus plastic?

1. I'm trying to find out the compatibility of this transducer with an AirMar Ultrasonic UST800 transducer, which would be installed pretty close to the RV-300.

The AirMar UST800 sonar operates transmits at 4.5MHz for speed sensing (and Pulse Repetition Frequency from 0.5kHz to 12kHz).

2. This page (http://www.raymarine.com/transducers/realvision/ - the Specs tab) says the RV-300 will work for 0 to 5 degrees deadrise (same as RV-200), and the RV-200 documentation says: "You should fit transducers whose internal elements are matched to within ±6° of your hull’s deadrise angle."

Does the angle need to get adjusted during the physical installation (if so, how?) or is the 6 degrees simply a tolerance built into the unit, meaning I don't have to worry about physically adjusting the installation angle itself?

3. The unit gets power directly from the Axiom Pro RVX MFD, right? Does this mean it will not affect the LEN calculation for SeaTalkng?

Thanks!

[CA] Ev-150 install

$

I picked up an ev150 autopilot and plan to install it in my 23 ft center console.I have read all the directions included and still have a few questions regaurding possible interference issues being that I don't have much room to work with or many options when it comes to mounting the system components.
Q1-How sensitive is the pump mounting location when it comes to mounting it near a vhf or trim tab pump? The location I would like to mount the pump puts it about a foot away from a trim tab pump and about 8 inches away from a vhf.
Q2- I would like to mount the ACU150 control unit directly behind where the p70r control will be flush mounted, therefore the ACU150 would be about 6inches or so from the back of the p70r. Is this acceptable?
