[CA] Axiom waypoint info

$

I’ve recently purchased 2 Axiom 9’s and have them connected with a Raynet Cable. I have one unit at the console and one at the bow. I’ve made the unit at the console the data master. My question is, once the units are connected, does the unit at the bow record and follow waypoints from the master units antenna that is 6-7 feet away?. I just was sure if I had to make the bow unit the master when fishing on the front deck for more accuracy?.

Thank you in advance for assistance.

[CA] Seatalk NG, DeviceNet, and Suzuki CP-10

So I purchased a DeviceNet Cable to attempt to pull the data from my existing NMEA 2000 backbone for my Suzuki outboard and my Suzuki CP-10 and I've experienced some weird results when attempting to patch the data into my E90W via a SeaTalk NG 5 way connector. Somehow the 5 way connector invalidates the data coming from the motor and makes my CP-10 reading go dead. . .

So after troubleshooting a lot of different scenarios I plug my device net cable directly into my E90W, and boom it has the engine data and my CP-10 is reading correctly. Now of course I am going to have to use my 5 way connector to connect all of my other electronics but it doesn't seem like there is a way that I can plug the device net cable into this connector. This doesn't make any sense to me. I've even unplugged everything but the 5 way connector from the device net connection (even the power) and it still invalidated the data in NMEA 2000.

Is it possible that I have a bad 5 way connector?

(DG) ST60 Constant True & Apparent Flashing

$

I'm troubleshooting my ST60 Wind unit's constant flashing of the True and Apparent lights.

Following the self test procedure I got "F01" in the first step of the test outlined in the manual. Next trip to the boat, I'll take a power source and multimeter to preform the test to confirm the masthead is transmitting and also consider a factory reset as a step to attempt to recover the functionality.

From reading previous forum inquiries/replies and explainations of true/apparent wind it appears that the "speed signal" is either not transmitting to the ST60 Wind unit or the supplied signal isn't being interpreted correctly. Do I understand correctly that this would be the reading of the "yellow" wire into the ST60 Wind unit?

Are there any additional suggestions or steps I should try outside of 1) a factory reset and 2) confirmation of correct voltages from sensors on the mast using the procedures supplied in the manuals?

Thanks in advance for any assistance or suggestions.

[CA] Importing Routes into eS127

I am importing routes from an outside navigation software (Coastal Explore). I save it as a GPX file with a file name.

Once the transfer is completed on the eS127, the file name shows up as a route number, not the name I gave it. Why?

Nothing in the FAQs seem to address this.

Thanks

Tom

SeaTalk faultfinding

SeaTalk is a simple and robust data protocol used to share basic navigation data throughout a network, it will share Depth, Speed, Wind, heading and GPS as wellas Autopilot commands, but it will not share video or chart, radar or sonar data.

It comprises three wires, Red - 12 volts, Yellow - Data and Screen (Shield or bare wires) which is 0 volts.

If the network does not appear to be sharing data, then some simple diagnostics will quickly find the cause. When an Autopilot is connected into the network, the display will report STLK FAIL or NO LINK will indicate a failure of the SeaTalk network, however, if there is no Autopilot installed, the simple test is to turn the lights on using one of the display - then the lights should come on all the rest of the displays. By isolating parts of the network, you can identify where the issue is located.

Removing the faulty display or damaged cabling will enable the system to recover and become operational again.

Additional diagnostics can be accessed click here .

AIS700 Grounding Stud connection

The AIS700 has a grounding stud on its upper surface, next to the antenna connections. This grounding stud is intended for near-lightning strike protection and MUST NOT be connected to battery negative. It is common with the shields of the antenna, VHF and GPS coaxial cables and if you
connect it to battery negative, you risk directing near-lightning strike transients into the negatives of all of the other vessel electrics and electronics (p22):

[CA] Inverted mount for Fair Camera

Our new FLIR camera is being mounted up on the mast on a Scanstrut mount. It is in the inverted position but the mount above it would seem to expose the wiring connections to rain and pooling water since the mount is an open framework. Does it need to have protection for this to seal the top from water ingress?

Thanks,

Paul Shard

[CA] e80 hs seatalk crossover

Trying to get some last details done and realized that I need a longer cable for my hs seatalk. I have two 1.5 meter cables. I Need to join together the two 1.5 meter hs seatalk cables between my e80 and dsm300. These 2 cables would be joined in a secured closet out of the weather. Will a standard ethernet crossover coupler work for this since i do not need any weatherproofing--unlike the raymarine which is inside a cover. I have a coupler left over from setting up my pc network that I could use rather than wait to get one.. Thanks in advance

[CA] E-80 MFD Time issues

hello! I have an E-80 MFD. My 125 GPS antenna failed and I had to replace it with a 130. Also needed he controller and new cable to link to older Seatalk communication network. The problem of no position, wind, and current data was solved but the time on the MFD alternates between local and GMT every few seconds. Has anyone had this issue? And, what did you do to solve it?

Thank You
Charles

[CA] RD424HD "No Radar Source Found"

I'm getting an unexplainable "No Radar Source Found" message on my a98 (software v.19.03) when communicating to a RD424HD.

I've Googled-searched this issue and read that the problem is generally linked to a poor power/battery supply. I don't think this is the case here. I have 2 new 24-series Interstate marine batteries; a new electrical system with new fuse block and new bus bars. Dielectric grease at every connection. Heat shrink on every terminal. Batteries are continuously being fed by shore-power. I'm fairly certain that I'm not having a power supply issue here.

The RD424HD was previously connected to a E140w through an SR6 weather station and one of the 6 SeaTalk HS ports and worked fine in this setup. Of course, the power/communication radar cable has an RF45 connection on the data portion when connected to the E140w. Subsequently, to use this same cable on the a98 (which has no connection port for RF45) I purchased an A80247 adaptor (female RF45 to SeaTalk HS).

The SR6 is no longer in the setup. That unit was removed (and I'll be happy to give it to anyone who can fix my radar issue!!). There is no cross-over cable. Right now I have a really simple connection from the radome to the radar cable to the A80247 adaptor to the a98 display.

The power side has the red (positive) 12 gauge cable fed directly to a Blue Seas fuse distribution panel (15-amp fuse) and the black (negative) goes to the negative bus-bar. The drain wire is independently wired but goes to the same negative bus bar.

I'm at a loss of what to look at next. Your thoughts?

[CA] Sharing waypoints with Simrad

$

I have a system of Axiom Pro 12, Axiom 9, and Simrad GO9 all connected via a NMEA 2000 network. The (2) Axioms are also connected via RayNet cables for Ethernet. The Simrad and Raymarine units see each on the NMEA network. The Simrad unit has a feature to transmit and receive waypoint data on NMEA 2K, however, I'm not finding any similar transmit or receive on the Raymarine units. Is this a feature I can't find, or a request for future NMEA PGN implementation consideration? Thank You

(DG) Interfacing E series classic to E series Hybrid

$

"While it is possible to interface an E-Series Classic MFD to a common SeaTalkng backbone to which a C/E-Series Widescreen MFD also been interfaced" this is a quote from an earlier thread. I wish to perform this interface and would like to have the proceedure described. There is an adapter cable that converts the NMEA183 plug to Seatalkng cable. Is the proceedure simply to run the extended ng cable to the existing backbone connected to the existing E series widescreen Hybrid? A friend suggested that the ng must first be connected to an instrument or display that converts the data to a readable format for the classic. Is that correct, or may I simply run direct?

I need some help setting up a NMEA 2000 network on my 2001 Four Winns Vista 298. It has Volvo Penta 5.7GSI motors and the original outdated Navigation system. I bought a Raymarine® AXIOM™ 12 RV with RVTM DXR & Nav+ for my MFD. I want to connect it to (2) Fox Marine engine gateways, a Fusion MS-AV750 and (2) Fusion MS-NRX300 remotes. I want to run all Raymarine cables which one do I need? I have all the above, just need cables. Is there a kit? Seems confusing, Seatalk 1, Seatalk ng, device net, etc.. Help want to buy this weekend.

(DG) RealVision Transducer Selection RV-200 vs RV-220

$

I am having an Axiom Pro installed on my Boston Whaler 320 Outrage and I have the option of either using a single RV-200 transducer or the pair of transducers in the RV-220. The pair would be installed under the center console where Whaler has specific blocking. The single transducer would be installed further back in the boat where there is a 12" or so flat area on the center of the bottom of the boat.

My question is whether having 2 transducers will provide better performance and/or imaging and whether one configuration is better then the other, if I have a choice?

Thanks in advance for your help.

(DG) Axiom and Knot meter upgrade

I have a 2012 Leopard 39 setup with a St60+ instruments. TriData, wind and St6002 autopilot connected to a C90w. I am removing the C90w and upgrading to an Axiom 12 with a RKM-10 remote, and an Quantum radar. I also want to add a knot meter input.

Question #1 Is the system diagram I created correct?

Question #2 Which model of knot meter should I purchase. One that connects to my existing St60+ Tridata or one that connects to the SeaTalkNG network?

Thanks
Steve
