[CA] Axiom 7 and i60 wind system

Hello,

I just installed an Axiom 7 and i60 wind system on a sailboat.

I built a Stng network using an E22158 (to integrate existing ST1 speed/depth). The i60 shows as a source of wind data in the Axiom data sources utility and the E22158 shows as a source for speed and depth data.

I am unable to find how to turn on the wind vector on the Axiom display. I think I've exhausted all the menu options and cannot find it.

Please help.

Thanks, Keith

[CA] Axiom Pro Heading Data from Autopilot

Just completed installation of 2 new Axiom Pro MFDs, with i60/i50 + i70s instruments, iTC-5 for all the transducers.

There is currently a Simrad J300x-40 autopilot installed in the boat.

For whatever reason I can NOT get heading data on the Axiom Pros.

Tried using the 0183 Tx/Rx ports straight to the 16" Axiom Pro which didn't work so I used an Actisense NGW-1 we had on hand. Directly connected the NGW-1 to the Tx/Rx port 2 on the J300x then adapted the DeviceNet cable to my STng network.

On the Axiom Pro I can go to Settings> Network> Data Sources I can select the iTC-5 for the depth, wind etc but for Heading it won't detect any source.

However, on the i70s instrument I can go to Menu> Set-Up> System Set-Up> Data Sources> Heading I can choose between "Auto" and "NMEA2000<_>018"
This allows me to get Heading on the i70s so I know it's available on the STng backbone.

Any thoughts?

I'm using a C80 with a DSM30 and P79 transducer. The C80 reports depth info for about 5 seconds and then stops and gives a no input error. After about 1 min it repeats this pattern. My C80 software is the latest available v5.16.I have tried to update the DSM 30 software and it completes to 100% on all blue bars but then gives a blue screen software error at line 460.How do I update the DSM30 and will the update fix the problem? Thanks

Hi,
I have a 1994 Sailboat that came with the ST60 Depth/Speed. Head is sun washed and would like to replace it with the i50 depth.

I read the specs of the i50 and it seems that it's compatible with the M78713 but I would like to have confirmation.

Thank you, Brian

I have a eS179.

In Radar or AIS under the "Collision Avoidance" tab. Under "Target Vectors" you have the choice between "Relative" or "True."

What are the definition of these two terms and their purpose?

Thank You.

I currently have a C120W that has one of the Seatalk HS hooked to a radar and the other Seatalk HS is not being used. I recently purchased a DSM300. Is the preferred connection directly to the DSM using the Seatalk HS ports? Do I need a crossover cable?

Replacing a C80 on a 40ft sailboat. currently have radar, ST60 speed & depth and wind. Autopilot is separate.

The plan is to replace C80 with Axiom Pro 12 and Quantum radar while maintaining older instruments. Will use iTC-5 to connect instruments to MFD. What am I missing?

When connecting a C120W to a DSM300, is a crossover coupler needed?

The DSM300 can be connected direct to one of the STHS sockets on the C120W, no crossover cable is needed this link describes in detail the connection methods.

Difference between Downvision and Conical Sonar

The difference can more easily be understood when looking at the difference in images generated by the two different technologies,

The Downvision image is shown here as the copper tone (standard palette) and typically shows the structure of the seabed in great detail, individual fish show up as round dots, plant life can be clearly seen, as can features on the seabed such as reefs, even mooring chains and wrecks, whereas the conical sonar shows the more traditional view with individual fish showing as arches but structures are less distinct.

The view in these pictures below of a submarine on the seabed indicate the greater level of detail available from the downvision capability

The FAQ click here also gives more examples of the differences between the technologies which require different types of transducer.

When is a HybridTouch interface or RMK-9/10 recommended

When is a HybridTouch interface or RMK-9/10 recommended

MFDs featuring touchscreen-only interfaces are an excellent choice for those who will not be using the MFD under environmental conditions where it will be very cold or where the screen of the MFD will be wet with rain or spray. Under such conditions, the MFD may be non-responsive to touches and/or appear to execute random commands. Another vessel operating condition which may prove difficult to interact with a MFD featuring a touch screen is one in which the vessel is being subjected to jarring or slamming (ex. operating underway while a vessel is on plane in rough conditions, etc.), which may in turn make it difficult to accurately touch the screen in a manner which would permit otherwise permit use under calm vessel operating conditions. One way to overcome these limitations would be to interface a a compatible remote keypad (ex. RMK-9/10 Remote KeyPad, etc.) to the MFD. The MFD's Touch Lock feature may then be enabled when the conditions specified above prohibit operation of the MFD via its touchscreen.

MFDs featuring HybridTouch interfaces (ex. e-Series, eS-Series, Axiom Pro MFDs, etc.) feature both touchscreen and button / UniController interfaces to support interaction with the these MFDs under all supported conditions. When the conditions specified above prohibit operation of the MFD via its touchscreen, then the MFD's touchscreen may be locked and the MFD's buttons / UniController may be used to interact with the MFD. MFDs with HybridTouch interfaces would generally be considered the MFD of choice when operating under the adverse operating conditions specified above.

When to use the Data Sources feature of a MFD, i70 MFID, or p70/p70R?

$

When to use the Data Sources feature of a MFD, i70 MFID, or p70/p70R Autopilot Control Head?

While more than one source of any of the below listed items may be present within a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 network of Raymarine i70/i70S MFIDs, p70/p70R Autopilot Control Head, and/or Raymarine MFDs running LightHouse II or LightHouse 3 software, only one source will be used by the Raymarine system for the data sources listed below.
- GPS
- GPS Datum
- Time & Date
- Heading
- Depth
- Speed
- Wind

Accordingly, Raymarine MFDs support data source selection, via the Data Sources feature, for any of the data sources listed above. Should more than one source of the above listed data items be present within the system and should the Data Sources feature have not been exercised to designate which one(s) will be used, then system performance may be adversely affected. As an example, should more than one source of GPS data be present within the system and the Data Sources feature not have been used to designate which GPS data source will be used by the system, then the system may periodically display an alert dialog specifying No GPS FIX and/or AIS Connection Lost.

In systems having only one data source for each of the above listed items, the MFD's Data Sources feature need not and should not be executed. However, should more than one data source exist within the system for any one of the above data sources, then the Data Sources feature of the MFD, i70/i70S MFID, or p70/p70R Autopilot Control Head will need to be executed to designate which source of data will be used for any of the above listed items for which more than one source is present within the system. The data source(s) designated by the Data Sources feature will be utilized by all Raymarine products within the system, and cause the system to ignore other sources of the items listed above.

Protecting power and communications cable plugs when removing equipment from boat

It is not uncommon for bracket mounted equipment to be removed from the vessel after each use or when a vessel is laid up. Unfortunately, Raymarine has not introduced cable plug caps for its power cables, power/data cables, communications cables, and transducer cables. However, a R70014 RayNet Cable Puller may be used to cap the Raymarine Ethernet cable terminated with a RayNet (F) plug. An assembly constructed from an A06074 SeaTalkng Inline Terminator and an A06031 SeaTalkng Terminator may be used to cap a SeaTalkng Spur Cable. The plugs of cables any remaining cable may be covered with plastic bags to reduce exposure to the marine environment. For those concerned about potential corrosion of the plug's contacts, a bit of dielectric paste (ex. Dow Corning DC4, etc.) may be used on a plug's contacts to prevent such corrosion.

[CA] Instrument Settings via Network

I have a pair of Axiom Pros, a pair of P70s auto-pilot heads, and a couple of i70s units.

Is there a way for common settings for the i70s to be retrieved from the SeaTalkng network?

For example, I know that the units can be placed in a group that will let me control the display mode. I've done that.

However, the alarm settings and display options (pages, data, etc) configurations seem to have to be configured individually. Foe example, turning off the AIS alarms, or adding a new page.

Am I missing something or is shared configuration not possible on the i70s units like it is on a pair of Axiom Pros?

[CA] 50/200 as well as Chirp via a second Axiom?

I am currently running an AXiom 9 RV with a RV-100 transducer. Although I purchased the appropriate Y-cable to use my existing B60 transducer with this system, I ended up reinstalling my old DSX500I so that I have both Chirp and traditional 50/200 available without switching cables. I am considering replacing the DSX500I with a second Axiom. If I were to connect my B60 transducer to a properly networked Axiom 7 DV through the appropriate adapter cable, would B60 data as well as RV-100 Data be available through both MFDs?

[CA] Cant get new es98 mfd and autopilot to turn on

Just bought a es98 mfd, type 1 hyd pump and ACU 200 controller and cannot get the mfd to even light up. Tried to follow directions very carefully but what am I doing wrong? Does the es98need the NEMA 0183 wire to have power? I thought if the ACU had power and the data cables were connected to a blue backbone and the backbone connected to a T piece with spur cable going to the es98, it would have power. HELP please

[CA] Trouble Uploading Software Update to a98

$

I have an a98 currently running software v.14.36.

I purchased a new SanDisc (mSD) with 8GB of storage.

Went to the Raymarine website and downloaded v19.03 to the root file of the mSD card. The mSD card was formatted to FAT32.

When follow the Raymarine instructions for uploading this newest software from the mSD card, I get a "no data available" message from the a98. Tried three times. Same message all three times. In between each attempt, I deleted the original v19.03 software from the mSD card and loaded a new.

FYI - Last week I was able to use this same mSD card to transfer waypoints into this same a98 unit.

FYI - the a98 is connected to an a68. The a98 is the Master.

I would (could) attempt to use my iPhone SE as a hotspot but as I understand, only Raymarine software after v.15.59 can be updated using wifi.

Your thoughts how to proceed?

In case you are wondering, the a98 is otherwise running fine. But for some reason, the a98 is not recognizing the newly installed RD424HD radar. I'm thinking that this could be a software issue.
