(DG) Axiom to C80 Classic adapter plates

I've been investigating updating my boat from a C80 classic to one of the new Axiom units and was very happy to see that Raymarine is now listing an adapter plate for some of the Axiom MFDs:
http://www.raymarine.com/multifunction-d...cessories/

I see a C70 adapter plate listed, but there is no listing for my C80 (Classic) to any of the Axiom units. I'm considering an Axiom 7 or 9.

Why would Raymarine list the C70, but not the C80? Is the C70 adapter plate usable in my case if I already have a cutout for the C80 classic in my dashboard? The website doesn't have dimensions or drawings available online.

Thanks for any help!

(DG) can St6001 control a st5000

I am wondering if a st6001head unit with seatalk can control an all in one st5000 thru the seatalk bus . If so, what functions?? standby, auto , course change etc....will the st5000 beep on changes?

I have an extra st6001 I could put in my cockpit for an extra control..

Thanks in advance

(DG) sd card for axiom

(DG) P70 connect to SPX30 computer

How can I connect my P70 control head to my Sea Talk network and SPX30 computer? Previous RayMarine tech advice was to cut the P70 pigtail, strip back the wire, and connect the red(+12vDC), yell(signal), and bare(-12vDC) direct to the computer. I did, and it worked... for several months. Then the P70 quit-would not turn on-so I removed it and reinstalled my old, partially "sunburned screen" ST7001. I sent the P70 back for warranty repair, (they said it was OK and returned it) and bought a P70S. Neither the P70 nor the P70S will turn on when connected(using the "Standby" button), but the old ST7001 controls the AP fine-I just can't read the entire display! How can I turn either the P70 or P70S on? Is there a different/better way to connect the head to the computer?

(DG) Software Updates

I purchased my Evolution 100 Autopilot last year but due to health issues, I am just now getting around to install. My sailing vessel does not have a MFD. Am I to assume that my only options for updating the software is:
1. Purchase a Raymarine MFD and do it myself
2. Find an authorized Raymarine dealer who is equipped to update Raymarine product software and trailer my sailboat to their location
3. Find a Certified Raymarine Installer.
4. Remove all my equipment and ship it to a Raymarine's Product Repair Center.

Is there any need to update software on the equipment as long as it operates fine?

CPT-200 Transducer Installation

This thread is being written to obtain recommendations on installing the CPT-200 transducer on the transom with a 24 degree deadrise.

Installation instructions page 28, section 6.2, item two states to make sure the mounting template (transducer by inference) is parallel to the waterline. The diagram shows a transom with a 0 degree deadrise (flat hull).

With a 24 degree deadrise hull, either one of the two transmitters will be a significant distance below the hull's edge or one of the two transmitters will be a significant distance above hull's edge.

The transducer cannot be mounted along the hull's centerline due to negative consequences of draining hull directly onto the transducer.

Previous experience with transom mounted transducers is that when the transducers' leading edge protrudes below the hull's edge, the transducer is extremely susceptible to effect of water turbulence.

This being true, is there any recommendation for the location (distance above / below hull's edge) to minimize the effects of water turbulence?

(DG) P70S connection to Sea Talk and SPX30 computer

My P70 control head suddenly would not turn on, after several weeks of good performance. It was connected to my Sea Talk network and SPX30 computer by stripping back the P70 pigtail, and connecting the red(+12vDC), bare(-12vDC), and yell(signal) wires directly to my SPX30 computer, per RayMarine Tech Advice and direction. I removed and sent the P70 in for warranty repair, and was eventually told it was OK, nothing was wrong with it, and was being returned. I had since bought a P70S control head. But when I connect either of them, the display remains blank and nothing works. There is 12v power avail at the P70 cannon plug, and continuity for the 3 wires is checked good to the computer. The Power/Standby key has no effect. My old (and partially faded screen) ST7001, however, works fine-except half of the screen is sunburned and unreadable. How do I get either the P70 or P70S to work in my system? How do I turn it On?

[CA] Which mast mount for Quantum 2

I am going to buy a new Quantum 2 for my sailing catamaran. I'm pulling the mast next week and would like to install the mast mount while I have the mast off. Reading through the specs for the fixed mast mounts I don't see any mention of the Quantum 2. Can you tell me which mast mount will work for my application?

Thank you

[CA] Can't calibrate wind transducer through i70s

I just installed an iTC-5, an i70S and an i60 wind instrument. I’ve connected the existing ST-50 era wind, depth and speed transducers to the iTC-5. I’ve updated the software on all components to the latest versions. The iTC-5 shows steady green lights for the wind and depth transducers and a flashing green for the speed transducer.

When I try to calibrate the transducers through the i70S, the depth works fine (and the depth shows up over the Seatalkng network on the e9 chartplotter), the speed transducer is not detected and so I will replace the paddle wheel insert. The wind transducer calibration starts with telling me to “turn vessel in a circle”, which I do and then I get the message “keep turning” (see attached image). I expected to turn twice to complete the calibration, but even after six or more circles, the “keep turning” message is still displayed and nothing on the i70S display changes.

I checked the voltages on the wind transducer wires at the junction box at the base of the mast and at the iTC-5. All were within the ranges described in the relevant Raymarine forum article, except that red to shield was 7.75 volts DC steady at both test points. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

[CA] units cannot be changed to "knots"

This is a new installation of Axiom Pro MFD and SeaTalk-Seatalkng converter and Quantum Radar in place of E120 and old radar set. The converter is powered from the seatalk spur containing my old pilot, speed, depth, wind.
There is a glitch: I cannot set the speed units on the MFD to "knots" with the seatalk network energized. I can see the pull-out menu with "knots, MPH, KPH" and can click the "knots" but it doesn't change the units to knots, but rather immediately returns to "MPH."
But if I turn off the seatalk network power by switching off the spur containing my old pilot, depth, speed, and wind instruments, then I can set units to knots and it will stay in knots even when I then turn on the seatalk spur.
If I turn off the MFD and power it back up with the seatalk spur off, it stays in knots, but if I power them back up in the opposite order, seatalk and then MFD, it switches to MPH again.
Can this glitch be fixed by altering the power supply to the converter or other hardware change?

[CA] hunter 380 autopilot

Hi, I want to add autopilot to my boat. which will do the job? Thanks, Bill

[CA] eS Multifunction unit screen background now grey

Last week, we were viewing our 12 inch navigation screen, and all of sudden the screen gradually changed from a white background to a grey background. The change started from the bottom and slowing panned to the top of the screen.

I have tried to reset everything, but still the screen stays grey. If I go to a blue background setting, the background is a blue - grey

What givers - how do I reset it back to white?

[CA] Axiom Pro Backwards Compatibility

I'd like to upgrade my E120W MFD to an Axiom Pro, but I'm concerned it might start a ripple effect by the Axiom not being compatible with the other electronics on my boat, which was built in late 2009. I'm most concerned about the radar and autopilot, but I'd also like to know if anything else would not function properly with the Axiom Pro.

Here is what I have on the boat now:
E120W (to be replaced)
ST70 instruments (3)
ST70 autopilot
Smart Pilot 30X course computer
Fluxgate compass
Rudder position sensor
RD418 4 kW 18" digital radome
Depth transducer - Airmax Smart Tri 20-633-01 IDST800-N2000
Wind instrument E22078 connected to ITC-5
Interface E85001
Sirius Weather SR100
GPS - Raystar 125
AIS650
VHF - Ray55E + Raymic
Seatalk HS High Speed Network
Seatalk - SeatalkNG converter
RF Base

(DG) spx 30 controller only drives one direction

My Raymarine autopilot has an ST6002 display and an smart pilot x30 controller. This system worked for the past 8 years and now suddenly will only turn the rudder in one direction. All connections have been checked as well as the operation and set up of the rudder indicator.

Any suggestions on what might cause this?

Richard

(DG) Inline fuse size E80 with rd424 4kw radome

Installing a classic E80 with rd424 4kw radome running off of the mfd. What size fuse should be used inline power to the E80. E80 manual says to refer to radar manual---radar manual says to refer to MFD. Maybe I missed something

(DG) Autopilot pump for Evinrude twin 300HP Etec G2's

I have a customer that is looking to install an autopilot EVO system on a twin Evinrude 300 G2 system. The G2 has a built in hydraulic system with power assist. There are no external RAM's required with these motors. You just connect the hydraulic lines from the helm pump to the motors. I need some assistance in sizing the pump for twins. There is very little information on the specs or configuring there outboards for autopilot pumps. I am hoping that Raymarine or someone one the forum will be able to shed some light.
