Modifying Dragonfly databoxes to display other data items

Dragonfly displays are designed to provide advanced fishfinding capabilities to boaters and and the ice fishing community at entry level fishfinder prices. In doing so, Raymarine has designed the software of these displays to populate its databoxes with the data items most demanded within entry level fishfinding products. Unlike the databoxes of more advanced fishfinding products supporting DownVision sonar technology (ex. Axiom DV MFDs, Axiom RV MFDs, ax8 MFDs, eSx8 MFD, etc.), databoxes of Dragonfly displays may not be reconfigured to display other data items. Those seeking the ability to perform such advanced features would be recommended to step up to a Raymarine MFD supporting DownVison or RealVision3D sonar imaging.

Problem updating software

Preparing to network an A67 and an A68 together via an HS5 I have updated the A67 to Lighthouse II 19.03. The manuals mention compatibility for more than one source of sonar data if a CP300 is part of the network. I happened to download the V4.04 Update in 2015 but had not installed it.
I have unzipped and copied the files to a micro SD. There are 3 files :
CP450cCP300Upgradeand AppV404R.pkg
rayatom.autorun.00sh
rayatom.autorun.00sh.sg
I completely powered down, inserted the card in the A67, powered up the CP300, waited a while and then powered up the A67. No 'autorun' occurred like when I performed the Lighthouse update. When I followed Set Up > Maintenance > Check card for Updates the response was "no files found". There were no other files on the card other than the v4.04 update at the root level. I have checked the card and see files config.xml and Lighthouse_id.txt have been created on the card so it would appear that the MDF accessed the card OK. Replacing the update card with my chart card, the chart shows so it is unlikely that it is a problem with the card reader.
Have I made a mistake somewhere in the update sequence?

[CA] AIS650 with Axiom Pro RVX 12

I contacted the Raymarine tech support line about using the GPS signal provided by the Axiom via Seatalkng. They confirmed that I do not have to use an external GPS antenna. I am installing the AIS tomorrow and after reviewing the installation manual, I am questioning the feedback I received. Am I required to install the GPS antenna included with the AIS650??

[CA] Lighthouse Software V 3.3

The release notes for Lighthouse software version 3.3 indicate support to SIRIUS XM Marine Weather via the SR-150 module.

Does Lighthouse ver 3.3 also support the legacy SR-100 module?

Thanks,

Which SiriusXM Satellite Weather Receivers are compatible with LH3.3 and later sw?

LightHouse v3.3.170 introduced support for SiriusXM Marine Satellite Weather features within Axiom, Axiom Pro, eS-Series, and gS-Series MFDs running LightHouse 3 software. In order to utilize SiriusXM Marine Satellite Weather features, the aforementioned MFDs:
- must be update with LightHouse v3.3.170 or later software, and
- must be interfaced to a SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver, and
- the SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver's antenna must be installed in a location affording it an unobstructed view of the skies overhead, and
- the circuit supplying power to the SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver must be switched ON, and
- a SiriusXM Marine Weather Coastal or Offshore subscription must be purchased through SiriusXM for your SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver's ESN, and
- the SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver has received an Activation Signal (ping) from the SiriusXM after subscribing ... it may be necessary to do this annually.

Unfortunately, SR100, SR6, and SR50 will not support SiriusXM Marine Weather features within MFDs running LightHouse 3.3.x and later software.

[CA] Where/how to install transducer on a drift boat.

$

I have a Dragonfly 7 Pro and want to use it on a drift boat in the ocean and on the lake. All drift boats have a flat bottom (left to right) but have curved bottom front to back. Drift boats are very skinny on the front and back and very wide in the middle (mine is 54" wide). The transom is very small, barely large enough to hold a kicker and it is completely out of the water when sitting still. Therefore, the transducer CANNOT go on the transom. It could possibly be mounted on the kicker but that would be too close to the prop.

I am thinking I could attach it to a board or metal bar off the side of the boat, a little farther back than the middle. I am thinking the bar would have to go down and back at an angle, maybe 45-60°. Then, I would have to either attach the ratchet arm directly to the board/bar going back or attach the mounting bracket to the board/bar.

What do you all think? Is there a kit out there that maybe I can buy?

One thing I have tested a little already with my previous fish finder is mounting the transducer directly onto a board that I clamped onto the transom so that I could get the transducer down to the water. That is still an option but I will have to use a much thinner board as the transom is slanted toward the bow as it goes down. When I used this method my board was plowing up water (because of the angle) when I was under way. Because of the curved bottom of the boat (front to back) there is no way that the bow does not raise up when using the motor. So my problem, using the transom to attach my board is that the board is two far under water while moving or not in the water at all while stopped.

[CA] E90w MFD w/ 12kw 48" SHD radar 48rpm /auto speed option not available

Hi

Have 3 E90w MFDs networked via seatalk Hs w / 12kw 48" open array SHD radar.

Cannot get radar to turn at 48rpm; only 24. The speed option where the "auto" speed would be set is grayed out.

Also, while the pedistal of the array sticker says model e52082e the MFD reports the radar type as e92160.

Software on E90w units are up to date.

Thoughts?

This vessel is used for SAR in high traffic areas. 48rpm was a selling feature for this configuration and it doesn't work.

Hi there, I've just installed an axiom 9 RV in my sailboat and would like to tie my Comnav 1420 Autopilot in. It is of course, nmea 0183, so what is the best way to get this done, just a simple conversion such as the Actisense NGW-1?

Thanks

[CA] Multiple MFD installation - adding es127 to eS9.7

$

HI,

We are replacing an E120 with an eS127. The new es127 should network to an X30 Course Computer, and eS9.7, a to-be-installed wireless radar, and an existing Vesper AIS Transponder hooked into the e9.7 via NMEA 0183. At present the eS9.7 connects to the course computer via an NG Spur running through an E22158 converter. Our ST instruments are wired into the Course Computer.

Questions:
1. Can I add an NG Spur from the eS127 to the E22158 converter? If so, what data will move from the 9.7 to 127 and back? How do I maintain autopilot control at one MFD or the other?

2) Should I get the AIS data to the eS127 via the NG connection or direct wiring to the AIS via the NMEA 0183 cable coming off the eS127?

3) Does radar data exchange require the HDMI connection? Does chart screen exchange require HDMI? What screen data can be shared over NG?

4) The old e120 used the middle port on the E22158 converter. Can I simply move the cap over and use an end position to add the es127's NG spur cable? Is cable #A80159 suitable for this path? Our cable length requirement exceeds 10'.

Best Regards

Hi,

If I turn on the "tracking" function in Chart/Map app (with Navionics card inserted) from my Axiom 9" RV100, then I switch out of the Chart app and open Sonar app. Would this switch stop my tracking in my Chart app?

Thanks.

What to do with accessories which are not compatible with current technology?

What to do with accessories which are not compatible with current technology?

The unfortunate result of new technology development is that it often obsoletes older peripheral designs. Backwards compatibility for product accessories can only be maintained within product designs for a limited period of time before it becomes cost prohibitive or technically infeasible to provide continued support within new product designs. One such example is the SR100, SR6, and SR50 accessories provided Sirius Satellite weather features within three generations of MFDs beginning with the A/C/E-Series Classic MFDs and ending within the MFDs supporting LightHouse II software (i.e. the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs). It is recommended that owners of accessories which have been identified as incompatible with current technology consider private sale of such accessories to aid in offsetting the cost of new accessories offering the same or similar features. As the overwhelming majority of these legacy MFDs remain in service with their owners, it is not uncommon that the private sales of such accessories recoup much of their original cost. Internet sales web sites (ebay, Craigs List, etc.) can be particularly effective for such purposes.

[CA] a Series Splash Screen

I followed the instructions to load a 'splash screen' on to my 2 a Series units (a127 and a128) and didn't have any luck.

I resized the picture and downloaded the 2 files on a 16gb card. After attempting to load the new splash screen, it didn't work. And when I looked at the files on the card again, the 3 original files were on it in, but also looks like 3 more were put on by the machine. What am I doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated.
