[CA] Axiom 9" with RMK-10 and Quantum 24C

I like the Axiom 9" with Navionics+ at the helm of my sailboat to replace existing RL70C but am concerned about exposure to rain (have a bimini over MFD) but navigation is mission critical and touch screen is not fail proof per your manual. A eS97 with Hybrid touch is a much more expensive solution ($2500 vs $1050). However, can I mount a RMK-10 ($349) on navpod next to Axiom to lockout touch control and use keypad for input? RMK-10 appears to have a Raynet connection so would I then need a HS-5 ($269) to connect Quantum 24C and RMK-10 before going to single network connection on Axiom, correct?
What is your most cost effective solution to my concern for accurate input and response into MFD during excessive wet conditions in the cockpit? The RL70C MFD is certainly old and dated technology but its user interface and screen are bullet proof.

[CA] navionics cards with raymarine products

I have updated my lake Michigan navionics card. I have talked with navionics wanting to know why the state lines do not show up. They tell me it is a raymarine issue not a navionics issue. here is a copy of there reply

Happy New Year! You were not forgotten about. From we can determine so far its some sort of limitation to how the Raymarine software reads the information. Tested in other units like Lowrance, the state like is very much visible. We're adding it as a suggestion for enhancement to the OEM Dev Team.

[CA] Axiom - Navionics+ Sonar Chart

Hello,

I have Navionics + updated with the latest information installed in my Axiom 9, but the charts displayed are really basic even playing with the configuration,

When I open the boating app in the Iphone and I zoom in, I can see all the details on each drop (120' one line, 130' another line, etc), apparently this is because the boating APP uses the sonar chart information,

Apparently with the Lighthouse 3 update 3.2, I can configure Axiom to give me the same level of detail in the bathymetry, this will help me a lot with the marlin fishing, anyone knows how I can configure the axiom to give me this information?

Navionics Boating app displays more depth data than MFD running LH3

When issues of Navionics cartography detail arise, the first items to verify are that:
- Navionics Nautical Charts and Navionics SonarChart have been selected within the Cartography tab (MENU->SETTINGS->CARTOGRAPHY) of the Chart application page/pane being viewed, and
- the Chart Detail configuration setting (MENU->LAYERS->CHART DETAIL) has been configured to MEDIUM or HIGH within the Chart application page/pane being viewed, and
- the Show Soundings configuration setting (MENU->DEPTHS->SHOW SOUNDINGS) has been configured to ALL within the Chart application page/pane being viewed, and
- the Show Contours configuration setting (MENU->DEPTHS->SHOW CONTOURS) has been configured to ALL within the Chart application page/pane being viewed, and
- the EasyView configuration setting (MENU->LAYERS->EASYVIEW) has been configured to OFF within the Chart application page/pane being viewed.

Next, please note that the significant number of depth contours shown within the Boating app are associated with Navionics SonarCharts. Navionics+ chart cards for the US and Canada which are bundled with Raymarine MFDs or have been separately purchased from a Navionics dealer are PRE-POPULATATED ONLY WITH NAUTICAL CHARTS. [CA] Android Phablets & Tablets for RayControl

I have been looking at the list of android devices that are supposed to work with RayControl. Most appear old. I am looking at Samsung Galaxy S2 and others but do not find them on the list. The problem is it appears the Phablet has to be purchased before testing to see if RayControl will work on device. Is there some way to update the list of compatible devices or provide more detail to determine if a device will work after it is purchased. Our thoughts are that a Phablet would be a good purchase if it has the following: WIFI, unlocked, G3, G4, GSM, GPS via satellite, takes two SIM cards, USB or mini USB. I once read that the MicroSurface did not work with RayControl. Has that changed?

[CA] Replacing Pathfinder Radar and Displays

My 49’ live aboard trawler has a navigation system consisting of the following Raymarine Equipment
Raymarine 400G Course Computer
L760+ (lower helm)
B744V Through Hull Transducer
RL80C+ (upper helm)
ST6002 x 2
SeatalkNG to Seatalk II Converter
RS130 GPS
24” Radome 48 mile Analog Radar

My radar is failing and I am looking to replace the radar and two multifunction displays. I would like to replace the MFDs with one that has the ability to use a chart that is based on the Explorer Charts. Another priority is a depth sounder that will track the bottom in shallow water and in turbulence. I would rather not replace the one year old B744V transducer unless replacing it improves the depth sounder shallow water performance.

Will you make recommendations for 2 MFD replacements (one for the fly bridge and one for lower helm) and a new wired Radar scanner? I’m not a big fan of touch screens but it looks like that is the way the technology is going.

Do both need charts?

Will my B744V fit without changing the connector? Is a connector available?

[CA] Time Stamp on Camera Snapshot File

I have IP cameras connected to an AXIOM 12 PRO RVX.

When I use the "take photo" feature in the camera app, the filename created uses GMT instead of local time. Is there a way to have the AXIOM use local time when naming photo files? The AXIOM does correctly display local time (PST), just not when it comes to naming the photo file.

Using Lighthouse software version: 3.2.101

The installation manual for the HS5 Network Switch says to be provide circuit protection of an appropriate amount, by I have not been able to find what value fuse to use anywhere. I thought I posted this question last week, but I cannot find any record of it, so I am trying again.

It’s my understanding that the Axiom’s features for auto piloting can not be used to its fullest with the older auto pilot. Just installed and want to use it to its potential.

What should I upgrade to so I can have all these features?

Replace S3 Autopilot with Evolution autopilot

The S3 Autopilot system comprises a control unit (ST6000, ST7000 or ST8000 ranges), possibly more than one may be fitted, a course computer (S3 or S3G), a fluxgate compass and a rudder feedback unit as well as a drive unit.
The S3 system used SeaTalk as a data protocol to communicate between the control unit and the course computer, the compass and rudder feedback unit used analogue signals and were connected direct to the course computer.
The fluxgate compass, ( size of a tennis ball and located below decks clear of any deviating sources), was connected direct to the course computer, as was the rudder feedback unit - a position sensor which fed the position of the rudder back to the course computer.

The Evolution Autopilot comprises a control unit (p70s or p70Rs), possibly more than one may be fitted, an actuator control unit (ACU100/ACU200/ACU300/ACU400 selected to suit the type of drive fitted), there is also an EV heading sensor - required to supply heading data to the system and the Rudder feedback transducer as well as the drive unit.

When upgrading the system to a new Evolution system some of the wiring will need to be modified, the Evolution Autopilot uses STng as a data protocol - not SeaTalk, also there is no NMEA0183 interface built into the course computer. Details of STng can be found here

The existing drive should be checked and serviced as appropriate by a qualified Raymarine service dealer, ( no point fitting new electronics to an old and worn out drive!).

Then the S3 computer can be replaced by the ACU, check the power supply too to ensure sufficient voltage and current is available. The fluxgate compass will be replaced with the EV sensor and the p70s or p70Rs controlunit fitted too. The control unit, the EV sensor and the ACU is all connected via STng, the rudder feedback unit is connected direct to the ACU.

Given that the computer of the autopilot is an S3 (or S3G), you will need an ACU400 to supply power to the drive unit being used.

[CA] Dual Axiom Configuration

Hello,

I am selecting the new electronics for by 21' CC and I am planning on going with dual Axiom 9 displays. I already have purchased a Axiom 9 RV with a RV-100 transom mount transducer and am about to purchase the 2nd unit and I have a few questions.

If I wanted to add a thru-hull transducer, would the CPT-S Bronze High Chirp 12 degrees be the correct one or should I be using a different one? Dual RV-212 are outside of my budget. Deadrise is 13 degrees.

If I used the CPT-S transducer, is the f-CPT-S adapter cable the correct cable to use?

Would it be correct to directly connect the CPT-S to one display and the the RV-100 to the 2nd display and then network them?

Is there a way to default both displays to use the CPT-S as the default transducer for chirp and use the RV-100 as the default for all other sonar types?

Is there any way to network the 2 axiom displays with an rmk-10 remote without buying the extra HS5 Network switch? For example, connect RMK-10 to master Axiom via raynet and then connect master axiom to slave via NMEA 2000 network.

I don't have any other components requiring raynet on the boat, and I really don't want to spend the money on the HS5 for the sole purpose of connection the RMK-10.

[CA] depth keeps dropping out

I have a new Axiom 12. To save a bit of money, I had the local dealer install an in-hull transducer (i.e. mounted inside the engine room, shooting through the fiberglass hull (not sure if the hull is solid fiberglass or cored with something). As a non-fisherman, I am really only interested in getting a numerical depth reading (though the depth displays are fun to look at sometimes!).

The depth always comes on when the system is energized, but always drops out after I am underway for awhile. Restarting the Axiom brings the depth back, but then it disappears again after several minutes. MFD will say, when asked, "Transducer not found" or maybe "not connected."

Thoughts about possible causes and cures? I'm assuming the installer glued it down properly, and with my slow-moving trawler with the transducer located 1/3 back from the bow, I can't imagine it is losing the signal because of non-laminar water flow.

[CA] New Preset View For RealVision 3D

Would it be possible to create another preset view for the RealVision 3D screen? I would love to see a view looking from the front of the boat to the rear. Basically the opposite of the follow view, looking down from the front of the boat and viewing the bottom behind the boat. It’s a view I find useful for trolling. I can manually set this view, but it’s a bit tricky to get it directly in front looking straight back. I have set up a screen on my home screen for just this view, but if I inadvertently change it then it’s a bear to get it back the way I want. I would find this view more useful than the overhead/above view, which is much like side view.

[CA] Axiom pro with 2007 Suzuki df300

I went to a dealer and asked if I retrofit my boat that has 2007 Suzuki df300 engines on it would work with the axiom pro. He said that there doesn't look like there is support for Suzuki engines on your equipment. Is this true? What would I need to get it going. Eci100?? They are nmea2000 ...

[CA] SPX 10 and ST 70 software update

I have two a128 displays and one a725 display and I can not get the SPX10 auto pilot and ST70 to do a software update (all networked). I get a message that no update is available when I insert the card w/the download update. Both the SPX 10 and ST70 have version 1 software. Perhaps related, or not, when I do a data source selection I get a message that the SPX10 ST 70 are preventing data source selection. How can I get the software update to occur?

Hello,

I have a Grand Banks 32 wood boat that I recently installed an Axiom 9. I am now researching what is the correct through hull RealVision 3D transducer for this boat.

The current sonar is mounted on one side of the short keel of the boat (see picture). It had to be blocked for the last transducer to work because of the angle.

Has anybody installed a RealVision on a GB before? What is the correct transducer for through hull?

[CA] SonarChart display on LH3.3

Has the process for displaying SonarCharts changed on 3.3? I can't seem to figure it out.

On 3.2 the user chose to display either Navionics Nautical charts or SonarCharts (or C-Map or..) Under 3.3 it seems that selecting either the Nautical Chart or SonarChart option causes both to be checked, but only the Nautical Chart is displayed in the chart view. See attached.

Am I missing a new way to select the SonarCharts?

[CA] Axiom transducer selection

I would like to purchase a down vision or real vision transducer for my Axiom MFD.
I would like a thru hull transducer and if possible the dimension of the shaft of the new transducers that will work with the Axiom. My Axiom is an Axiom 9 with real vision.
My boat is a 1983 Tiara 31 open.
