Pathfinder Radar Questions

All,

Hoping someone can help me out here.
My boat came with a raymarine SL-72plus radar unit. Unit still works fine, however it has the backlight issue where the buttons light up, but the screen does not, making it impossible to see at night (the time when I need the radar most).

Anyways, I would like to replace the display unit since it would probably be easier than trying to have mine fixed. I reference a thread here listing the other pathfinder units which where compatible with my SL-72 however I am a bit confused.

Of those listed is a RL70RC and RL70. I could not find any of those units available but did find a RL70C, which I understand is the color screen version.

Will the color RL70C work with my existing scanner from the SL72??

Thanks in Advance,
Kevin

In a network with two Axiom MFD's and one Remote Card Reader (RCR-SDUSB), will both MFD's be able to access the single RCR?

Axiom issues

I recently had my dealer upgrade from my old RL80C units to 5 Axiom units. We left the old transducer in place (was feeding the L1250 fishfinder) and used the Raymarine adapter cable (RV to CP370) to feed the Axiom RV unit. We also installed a Super HD radar and all units are networked via 2 HS switches and a ST backbone.

The following issues are existing:
1) Depth readings are fine but there is no temp display (it was there on the L1250). I tried all of the possible transducer choices but no change. I do not know the model of the transducer.

2) I am using the C-Map 4D card and cannot access tide info. The Axiom manual states that tide info is available on Navionics charts. The C-Map card provides tide info so I find it difficult to believe that the Axiom would not display the info. Could this be available on a future LH 3 update? I am using the latest update.

3) Bird mode appears as a settings choice in the radar app but it cannot be selected.

4) I would like to keep in use my existing Raymarine analog cameras but place them on the new network. Your forum states that the Axis M70 series encoders can be used.
The research I have done on this states that the M7014 (4 channel) provides one IP address but 4 video streams. If I use this encoder will I be able to select which camera feed I want to see through my Axiom MFDs. The subject is a bit confusing.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi,

I bought my the Dragonfly 7" 2 years ago. I upgraded by C-Map to Raymarine LightHouse charts. I do have the C-Map serial # and the original C-Map card with the upgraded Lighthouse charts.

Is it possible for me to run my Dragonfly 7" with the original C-Map charts?

or the C-Map is lost forever?

Thanks.

My old c80 plotter could show graphs, but I can’t find this feature on my eS75 so cant get graphs such as barometric pressure vs time, or wind speed vs time.
May this feature be considered for inclusion, please?

Which HD / SuperHD open array pedestals support Bird Mode?

Which HD / SuperHD open array pedestals support Bird Mode?

When initially introduced, HD and Super HD open array radar pedestals did not support Bird Mode. Later, the hardware design of the HD and Super HD radar pedestals was changed (enhanced) to support Bird Mode radar features when used in conjunction with Raymarine MFDs supporting Bird Mode radar features. Enhanced pedestals are distinguished from non-enhanced pedestals by the letter "E" following the pedestal's part number (ex. E52081 is the part number for a 4kW non-enhanced SHD pedestal, while E52081E is the part number for a 4kW SHD enhanced pedestal). Remanufactured pedestals are distinguished from non-enhanced pedestals by the letter "R" following the pedestal's part number (ex. E52081R is the part number for a re-manufactured 4kW non-enhanced SHD pedestal, while E52081ER is the part number for a remanufactured 4kW enhanced SHD pedestal). All current new production open array HD and Super HD pedestals feature the design enhancement required to support Bird Mode radar features.

Should one be considering whether to purchase a second hand or remanufactured HD / Super HD open array radar pedestal and additionally require the Bird Mode radar feature, then it is strongly recommended that one check the pedestal's part number to ensure that it includes the enhancement designation.

Hello, recently have had an Axiom Pro 12" installed with RV-100 and TM275LH-W. When I look at the channels I am not sure which are from the RV-100 and which are from the TM275LH-W.

are you able to help identify them?

[CA] Type 150/400 course computer

I have multiple questions but I think they have the same answer. First, I was wandering if it is posible to get the rudder info from my raymarine type 150/400 course computer and send it to my coastal exploerer using one of the nmea 183 outputs (RSA Rudder Sensor Alignment).

Second, could I use nmea 183 (GGA Golbal positioning data) and send it to the couse computer which is connected to my sea talk - since I have the dreaded NO FIX on my raymarine RL80C Pathfinder. (I think it's due to a broken Raystar 120)

I have satrted a nmea 183 - 2000 backbone with a computer (coastal exploerer) and have it talking to the ST6001 autopilot via (nmea in). I can create a route on costal ex and the course computer will track and follow. I have GPS just not in the sea talk part of my system.

Thanx Darin

[CA] Basci question re: i50/i60 wiring

I am upgrading to an i50/i60 depth, speed, wind package, a Quantum chirp radar, and Axiom MFD at the nav station and helm. I plan on using the 'Basic Seatalk Retrofit' diagram that I find here
http://api.ning.com/files/rRUWEC*XQHwlVF...trofit.pdf

Two questions, I can't find a definitive answer for.

1. If I connect the transducers to the i50 and i60 displays and then connect them to an ng backbone dows the depth, speed, and wind repeat on the ng backbone so I can see the data on the MFDs and the Evo autopilot.

2. Can the Axiom act as a datamaster (like the i70) if I wanted to go 100% ng backbone and use an ITC or do I still need an i70 some place.

TIA for any help,

Sam

EV400

Hi Chuck & Others,

Finally got around to removing the old AP and installing my EV400 with the Axiom Pro. First impressions are I love the EV400 - works really nice with the Axiom Pro. It is install on a Waiquez Hood 38 Keeler Sailboat. (13 Ton) with linear hydraulics driven by motor.

I have got three residual questions:

1. Can the autopilot be made to auto advance to next Way point? Currently it tells me way point arrival, but I need to tap the screen to advance to next way point else it just sails past way point on current course.

2. When changing course between way points and sometimes when engaging autopilot, for a second or two it causes the helm to quickly oscillate back and forth. Any ideas?

3. I still have the old mechanical leaver to engage hydraulics (see picture) - and by turning this on the wheel locks (then I engage autopilot). Is this what the clutch should do if I had wired it up?

Cheers

[CA] What system will work with a Raymarine st6000 Pilot?

Problem 1: will a Raymarine s100 work with my Raymarine 6000 Remote control system?
I have Raymarine 6000 automatic Pilot control, & a Raymarine 6000 Remote control module. I just dropped my remote into the sea accidentally and picked up a Raymarine lower cost S100 Remote control only to see if it would work on my system. But so far I cannot make it see my system.
What systm can I purchase to upgrade my 6000 automatic pilot rudder control?
I have a Raymarine 6000 automatic Pilot control, & a Raymarine 6000 Remote control module. On a two Volvo 225. Which I like very much as it integrates with rest of my Raymarine products. However I would like to get rid of the hard cable that goes out to the stern on a cable system for rudder indicator. I have broken over 4 cables in the past 4 years. Plus one time because the cable is attached to the hydraulic lines it ripped one of them off and I lost all steering. It is a very bad design and the cables are impossible to change out with our modifying the cable.
So is there any Raymarine product I can add to my system to get rid of the cable rudder system, some thing electronic with scraping my whole system?
Would the ACU-100 work?
See the attached image of what I have now to the rudder indicator.

c. ACR Rapid Fix 406 MHz EPIRB w/ GPS Interface
d. Raymarine Electronics 120 Display

I see it written nowhere that these to platforms are 100% compatible to be networked together. Am I correct in assuming so?

There would be no required software update to do so currently?

Thank you.

Can the Non-Realvision AXIOM still display and control the RealVision screens or are those screens only available on the RVX model?

Thanks,

Networking AXIOM Displays

The variants of AXIOM and AXIOM PRO displays can be networked together in the same system, via RayNet cables, provided they have the same version of software installed in every networked display.
This will enable features such as RealVision, Radar and Charting to be shared across the different model variants.

I have a Furuno Navpilot 511 autopilot that is using what looks like a fairly new Raymarine Type 25 linear drive on my Grand Banks 32' boat. It was installed by the prior owner. If I wanted to upgrade to a Raymarine autopilot, then would I need to replace that linear drive? Plus, what components would I need if I did not want to buy an all-in-one package?

Replacing ST50 Wind display with i60

$

The ST50 Analogue wind display is now no longer repairable, so assuming that the masthead unit and cable down the mast is in good working order, click here for further explanation, then the display will need to be replaced, there is a link below to our website where you can see the new i60 display.
I60 Wind display click here .

The new i60 analogue wind display will connect to the same masthead transducer that you are using with the ST50 unit – except you will need to remove the round plug on the cable from the transducer, which is used to connect the masthead transducer to the ST50 wind display.
The i60 wind display uses 1/8” spade connections on the rear of it – simply crimp new female spade connectors onto the bared ends of the transducer cable.

The i60 wind display will connect to the original SeaTalk network, but you will need an adapter cable A06047 and possibly a D244 SeaTalk connector block – depending how the ST50 displays are wired together - ST50 used round 3 pin connectors for SeaTalk, whereas all current instrument displays use 1/8" spade connectors.

The i60 wind display will connect to your existing system and work in the same way as the ST50 display with the close hauled analogue display next to it, the Apparent Wind direction and Wind speed will be fine, however, the TRUE wind information will not, since the ST50 used a more basic form of SeaTalk and the i60 will not get the correct form of Speed through the water data to calculate the True wind correctly.

Hello
Could you please list the equipment needed to add a depth finder and speed log functionality to my plain E7? I am not interested in a fish finder, just depth and speed in the water. I live in Canada and my usual vendor is The Binnacle.
Thank you very much and Happy New Year :-)
