Raymarine Radar

I have inherited a working Raymarine Radar and Chartplotter that I would like to continue using. RL70 is up on deck and is set up as the Radar Master. RL70C is down below at the chart table. The RL70 is almost impossible to read and needs to be replaced. These are HSB units with Raytheon upon start up.

My questions are:

Can I go down to one unit (RL70C) as both chart and Radar master?

If I need to replace the RL70, are there color units that are compatible?

Thanks in advance for your advise. Neil

Using Navionics Plotter Synch with Wi-Fi equipped MFDs running LightHouse II software

The Navionics Boating app for smartphones and tablets is used by many of Raymarine's customers to plan waypoints and routes. The Navionics Boating app includes a feature know as Plotter Synch which permits the Navionics Boating app to synchronize the waypoints and routes stored within the app with those store within an a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD running the latest available Raymarine LightHouse II software update for a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs. The attached document details the procedure for synchronizing data between the Navionics Boating app and the Raymarine MFD.

Replacement for a ST6xxx, ST7xxx, or ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head

Replacement for a ST6xxx, ST7xxx, or ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head

Unfortunately, Raymarine's Product Repair Center may no longer repair the subject autopilot control heads. However, depending upon the model of autopilot course computer which is installed onboard the vessel, it may be possible to replace the autopilot control head with a p70S or p70RS Autopilot Control Head. The p70S and p70RS Autopilot Control Heads, as well as the retired p70 and p70R Autopilot Control Heads, were introduced with Raymarine's Evolution Autopilots. These autopilot control heads feature both SeaTalk and SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 communications circuitry, permitting them to support either SeaTalk or SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 communications (but not both simultaneously). Should a compatible autopilot course computer be interfaced to one of the subject autopilot control heads, then an A06047 SeaTalk Adapter Cable may then be used to interface the p70S or p70RS Autopilot Control Head to the SeaTalk socket of an ST60/ST60+ instrument which autopilot course computer has been networked to. Alternatively, the A06047 SeaTalk Adapter Cable may be interfaced to a D244 SeaTalk Junction Block. Should the latter option be used, then the SeaTalk Cable may be unplugged from the ST6xxx, ST7xxx, or ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head and instead connected to a SeaTalk Junction Block to complete the connection.

The p70S, p70RS, p70, and p70R Autopilot Control Heads are compatible with the following retired autopilot course computers:
- X5
- X10
- X30
- S1000
- S1 / S1G
- S2 / S2G
- S3 / S3G
- Type 150 / 150G
- Type 400 / 400G
- ST4000+ ***
- ST5000+ ***

*** Unlike autopilot systems which employ separate devices control (i.e. autopilot control heads and autopilot computation / actuator control), the ST4000+ and ST5000+ autopilots combine an autopilot course computer and autopilot control head within a single device. In instances where the LCD of the ST4000+ or ST5000+ has failed and its autopilot course computer circuitry is operational, the ST4000+ or ST5000+ may be interfaced to a p70S, p70RS, p70, and p70R Autopilot Control Head which instead may be used to control the autopilot.

ACU200 Eventually Starts Steering Wildly

I have an ACU200 Autopilot, ST4000-II wheel drive and a P70 control head. When I first engage the autopilot, it works beautifully -- a small red bar, the boat turns slightly, then a small green bar, it turns back. And on and on...

After about 45 seconds, the turns get wider and wider. Hard to port, hard to starboard. No green bar on the display will show. In no time, the turns get so wide, the alarm goes off and goes back in to standby.

I shut it down, reset and it works great again for about 45 seconds, then the S-turns get wider and wider again.

Any ideas?

According to the description in the Google Play App Store I should be able to view the chart display on the phone through the Wi-Fish app when connected to my Dragonfly 5 Pro. However, the only choices I have in the app are for the two sonar views.

Has anyone else experienced this, or know why I'm not getting the full functionality of the app?

Registering / Converting / Upgrading C-Map Essentials Chart Card

Registering / Converting / Upgrading C-Map Essentials Chart Card

This FAQ has been generated to address the following problems encountered by customers who have purchased C-Map Essentials chart card within their Dragonfly or MFD bundle:
- After inserting the C-MAP card in the display's memory card reader and then selected C-MAP charts from the Chart application's Chart Selection feature have been unable to view detailed C-Map cartography. This is because the C-Map Essentials chart card was locked and the customer was viewing the C-MAP global base map which is pre-loaded into all MFDs and Dragonfly Pro displays which have been updated with the latest available Raymarine product software update. MFDs and Dragonfly displays interactively read chart data from a C-Map, Navionics, or LightHouse chart card which must be present within the display's microSD memory card reader.
- Customers are unaware of the free conversion from C-MAP Essentials to C-MAP 4D local.
- Customers are unaware the free conversion from C-Map Essentials to C-Map 4D local will erase all cartography stored on the chart card (including US and Canadian lakes and rivers) and then populate the chart card with the selected C-Map 4D local coastal (not including US and Canadian lakes and rivers) cartography.

The C-MAP Essentials card supplied as part of a MFD or Dragonfly bundle includes 3 large areas. For those not purchasing the US and Canadian C-Map Essentials chart card, please note that the card is locked and must be registered and unlocked prior to being used with the MFD or Dragonfly display. The buyer or the dealer must put the card into a PC (or C-MAP DPS), register on the C-MAP/Jeppesen website and unlock the one of the chart areas. Alternatively, the customer may choose to convert the chart card's contents to a C-MAP 4D Local area free of charge or to upgrade the chart card to a C-Map 4D Wide chart card.

The attachments below (provided by C-Map) address how to:
- Registering and unlocking your C-Map Essentials chart card ... unlocking is not applicable for US C-Map Essentials card; However, all C-Map Essentials chart cards should be registered.
- Converting C-Map Essentials chart card to a free C-Map 4D Local chart card
- Upgrading a C-Map Essentials chart card to a C-Map 4D Wide chart card

Should you have followed the procedures detailed within the attached instructions and encounter a problem with this Registering, Unlocking, Converting, or Upgrading your C-Map Essentials chart card, then it is recommended that C-Map's Support Team be contacted for further assistance.

E125/External GPS

$

I have an E125 and a Raymarine external GPS antenna. Both were installed new by Catalina at the factory. I cannot find a reference to the external GPS so I don't know for sure which model was installed. However, for some reason, my E125 will not recognize it. The installation was done in the Fall of 2015. I have provided a photograph of the external GPS antenna. Are there steps or diagnostics I can execute on the E125 to access the external GPS antenna? While everything is still under warranty, I don't want to trouble a Raymarine certified group for something this simple if it is something I can do as a user.

I have p70r control head with a ACU 100. The until receives the gps data from a Simrad EVO3 presumably through a NMEA 2000 connection. (Marina did the install). Is it possible to update the Raymarine software through the Simard MFD?
Thanks

C120 route import from iMac

Good day

I've searched the forums and the Raymarine site with no luck.
I'm pretty sure of the answer, but wanted confirmation before I give up.

I have an older C120 Classic and I would like to be able to import routes created on my iMac (.gpx files) is there any way to do it?
BTW, I do not have access to a PC nor do I wish to purchase a copy of Windows.

As a last resort, I'll even take the file specs for the .FSH files and build my own conversion utility!

Thanks for any and all help,

Garmin auto-guidance with EV-100 ?

$

I did an install on customer sailboat consisting of EV-100 wheel pilot and Garmin GPSMAP 942.
Chartplotter was connected to SeatalkNG backbone with Raymarine DeviceNet adapter cable.
Initially, not even waypoint data seemed to make it to EV-100 when in "Track" mode, but after updates on the EV-1, ACU100 ( as of 6/22/2017) the pilot would steer to waypoints. But the customer expected auto-guidance to work with EV-100. I contacted Garmin who said it would not be possible to make this work, but I just learned that customer has called a competitor who has taken over the job believing that the installation of Actisense NMEA2000<>NMEA0183 adapter will allow auto-guidance to work. Is it possible for Garmin auto-guidance to work with EV-100 wheel pilot with the use of such an adapter or in any other way ?

Speed source

Hi, I have an Evolution 200 autopilot installed on my 22 ft Almar boat. Type 1 drive pump, Seastar HC 5345-3 steering ram. Attached is the Diagnostic data for my electronics. As best as I can tell, all software is the latest.

My Autopilot has never worked very well - will do great for awhile, then starts wandering off path, etc. Often when I first start the autopilot, it will not control the steering unless I give it a nudge using the steering wheel to get it going in the right direction. I will try to attach a picture showing the p70r display - showing how far off course it is before I give it a bump with the steering wheel to get control started.

After searching this forum, it became pretty clear to me that one possible problem is the speed source. Turns out the pitot tube on my Suzuki was clogged so I cleared that this weekend. However, I noticed that I don't have any other choices to select speed - the SOG from the MFD isn't displayed under the data source list. But I can get SOG in a data box along with water speed.

In the p70r display, the only choice is "auto" and nothing shows up as a source. The calibration is unlocked. My compass variation is listed as 4 degrees.

Thoughts?

400G AST, ST6001+ auto pilot system malfunctioning

$

My Island Packet 420, displacement 38000 lbs, has 2004 vintage Raymarine electronics, including an RL80C plotter, 400G AST course computer, ST6001+ A/P control head and a Type 2 long linear drive.

Over the past couple of years the auto pilot system has been playing up intermittently, but not consistently. Initially, about 2 years back, the system would jump from auto to standby with no alarm. It still does this, but now, when in Track mode, the auto pilot will, on occasion, start wandering off course. The frequency of these symptoms can vary from several times in a day to maybe only once every 2 or 3 days, both of these during long, multi-day passages.

I have checked power supply connections and for adequate voltage - these appeared to be OK.

It is probably time to upgrade the autopilot side of my electronics.
I think that the appropriate new equipment would include an EV-1 course computer, a P70S control head and an ACU-400 actuator control unit.

I have a couple of questions/requests for clarification:

1) would this new equipment interface with the RL80C?
If so, can the new equipment be hooked directly into SeaTalk, or would they need to go through a Seattle/SeaTalkNG converter?

2) My read of the 2016 Forum post entitled "Replacement for a ST6xxx, ST7xxx, or ST8xxx AutoPilot control head" is that a current generation Control Head could work with some earlier generation Course Computers. Does this work in reverse? That is, would an EV-1 be compatible with an ST60001+?

3)If the answer to 2) is yes, if I purchase an EV-1, is the ACU-400 also required, or can the EV-1 operate off my existing ACU (if I indeed have one)?

thank you for your help with the questions.

My E-120 MFD displays boat icon pointed way off the course heading. In the past, I corrected this by swinging the compass on my ST6002 autopilot. Commands: Standby button 2 seconds, display button until Compass Cal, Auto button to display Compass Swing OFF. When I press +1 button, it no longer responds - expended instruction to turn boat. Please advise what else I may try or inspect. Dan

Please let me know what I need to order to connect the following:
Currently, there is a Fusion BB100 receiver and a Fusion NRX300 remote- these are now connected together using NEMA 2000 connection and work fine, but, I would like to accomplish the following:

1- Add in my Raymarine e78 display to the network.
(is there a simple adapter that will allow me to connect the e78's black / white spur cable to the NEMA 2000 network that are installed now?)

ADDITIONALLY- IF POSSIBLE:
2- IF POSSIBLE- add in my old school furuno radar that has a NEMA 0183 CONNECTION ON BACK. (its a male connector on back- 4 prongs).

Thank you for the help.
