Hello,
I am looking to upgrade my autopilot on my edgewater 225 cc. I currently have a ST6002 control head and a smartpilot unit with a 12v type 1 pump. I just repowered to the new f250 yamaha with digital controls. I'm assuming i can use my current pump. What system would i upgrade to... i was told either ev-150 or ev-200?

With that being said, I have been looking for hours for an NMEA cable, but I can not find one. Where do I buy one??

e127 screen went dark

I run side by side e127 MFD's new in 2015. Upon start up yesterday, left one started as normal but right one stayed dark. No sonar or radar data available on left (working) unit. The only thing I could get it to do was illuminate the red backlight behind the buttons by pressing them.

The previous weekend I had a couple of instances of losing depth reading in 100 - 400 ft of water. Tried settings galore, nothing helped and it eventually came back for good.
Dont know if this is potentially related.

Any troubleshoot suggestions are most appreciated.

Connecting T-120/T-112 to T122 & ST6001+/S2G

I have successfully installed T-120 / T-112 wireless wind instruments, and am getting wind information on the display. I also have the T-122 unit to connect to the existing wired network. My goal is to be able to use the autopilot sailing to either magnetic or apparent wind angle courses.

What do I connect to what? What kind of wire do I need. The T122 is mounted below docks about 6' from the wind display. Thanks.

a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD's screen is not illuminated

a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD's screen is not illuminated

It is not uncommon for equipment which has been operated under periods of darkness to be switched OFF or for the circuity supplying power to a MFD to be switched OFF while the MFD's backlight level is in a reduced setting. This often causes the operator to believe that the MFD's backlight circuitry has malfunctioned when the MFD is next powered ON, when it is in fact still operating with the reduced backlight level. To restore the c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD's backlight level to maximum brightness,
1) power the MFD ON and wait a couple of minutes to complete startup initialization;
2) press and quickly release the MFD's POWER button to display the Shortcuts menu (note: you may not see the menu because of the backlight level setting)
3) rotate the MFD's UniController or RMK-9/10's UniController knob several turns in the clockwise direction

Should the procedure above not result in the c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD's backlight level being restored, then it would be recommended that the product be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Transducer types

Hi,

I shoehorned a Dragonfly 5 into my dash of my Baja Islander. I love the moving map and the charts. Very handy on the great lakes. I did this in part because my old Humminbird sounder had given up. I did not expect to see such a long transducer with the D5, and really don't want to go outside on the transom with it. I would much prefer to shoot through hull, but only have so much room to epoxy or silicone one in without pulling the engine. I don't really need down view, more just a depth, and even then, 99.9% of the time I am running in less than 100'.

Is there a different transducer that is more puck style? And if so, how would it tie into the existing wiring? Or does it come with the D5 power plug?

Thanks!

Steve

Can DownVision transducers be mounted inside a hull?

Can DownVision transducers be mounted inside a hull?

The power output of the high CHIRP (conical) sonar / DownVision transducers is relatively low in comparison to 600W, 1kW, and 2kW 50kHz/200kHz transducers and 1kW/2KW CHIRP transducers. When transmitting through a hull, a relatively large percentage (will vary per hull) of transmitted and returned energy will be lost in the exchange through the hull. This energy loss can be a fair challenge for the higher power transducers and a significant challenge when combined with the relatively low power output of high CHIRP (conical) sonar / DownVision transducers. Accordingly, Raymarine recommends that high CHIRP (conical) sonar / DownVision transducers used with Dragonfly fishfinders, ax8 MFDs, eSx8 MFDs, Axiom DV MFDs, and CP100 be installed such that the transducer will be in direct contact with the water. Raymarine neither recommends nor supports in-hull installation of high CHIRP (conical) sonar / DownVision transducers. For this reason, Raymarine offers transom mounted and thru-hull versions of the high CHIRP (conical) sonar / DownVision transducers.

EV-100 and multiple data sources

I have successfully connected both my Lowrance HDS 7 and Nobeltec (via Actisence 183 converted) charting systems with the EV-100 via the seatalk-ng network. With both systems (Nobeltec and HDS 7) up and running I can initiate a route with the HDS 7 but if I try to initiate the route with Nobeltec the P70Rs reports 'no navigation data' and returns to standby mode. If I turn off the HDS 7, Nobeltec works fine.

It's like the AP is preferring the HDS data over Nobeltec even though I get the same error when I select data source on the P70 for GPS to Actisence NGW-1-STNG.

Why does HDS 7 work and not Nobeltec with both running?

Is there a way to fix this problem short of disconnecting the HDS from the network? I would like to run my HDS chart plotter while also navigating with Nobeltec.

There is a section in the P70 manual that refers to multiple data sources (MDS) but I don't understand it in this case.

Has anyone else have a problem with two Axiom installation when one unit hangs before switch on?
The led is a dull red and no amount of persuasion gets the unit to turn on without toggling the circuit breaker.
The software is latest 3.1.96

Upgrade to N2K

I have an old-school Ray network that is evolving. The primary components are a couple of E80-classic MFDs and an Evolution AP. The E80s drive the AP over STNG.

In looking to replaces the MFDs (likely with an Axiom variant) I see the need to also replace/adapt the existing NMEA 0183 data elements in my network (water depth/temp/speed and AIS). I want to upgrade these to N2K first and verify their functionality before swapping out the MFDs.

I know my E80s running 5.69 have some N2K capability. Specific questions:

Q1: Will the E80s accept water depth/temp/speed via N2K?
Q2: Will the E80s accept AIS data via N2K?

Attached are two drawings. The first represents the current state of the network. The second is my proposed interim configuration for an upgraded network before replacing the MFDs.

No Pilot reported by autopilot control head

No Pilot reported by autopilot control head

The reported symptom is indicative of a failure of communications between the autopilot course computer or EV CCU and the autopilot control head. This problem most commonly occurs:
- the software within all SeaTalkng devices has not been maintained with the latest available Raymarine product software updates ... update the software within all product's having a SeaTalkng communications interface.
- in systems featuring a SeaTalkng backbone in addition to a SeaTalk bus and the installer fails to disconnect the SeaTalk bus from its original source(s) of power and instead power the SeaTalk bus from the SeaTalkng backbone via a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter(s) ... Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Possible sources of SeaTalk power within your system include the autopilot course computer and possibly a dedicated power circuit supplying power to the SeaTalk bus
- in systems where too many devices having a SeaTalk (not to be confused with SeaTalkng communications interface are being powered from the SeaTalkng backbone via a single SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter
- In systems featuring SeaTalkng component where the installer has failed to rotate the locking rings of the SeaTalkng networking components into the locked position
- in systems where the autopilot control head is being powered by a separate power insertion to the SeaTalkng backbone or SeaTalk bus rather than via the autopilot's SeaTalk port and the operator fails to switch on the circuit supplying power to the autopilot course computer ... verify that the autopilot course computer is switched ON. For systems which do not feature a SeaTalkng backbone, consider connecting the autopilot control head alone to the autopilot course computer via all three leads of a SeaTalk cable. In this way, the autopilot control head will not power ON unless the circuit supplying power to the autopilot course computer has been switched ON.
- in systems a SeaTalk bus alone featuring several devices being powered from a single power insertion point. In such installations, the SeaTalk bus may be starved from power, particularly as the vessel's batteries draw down, and the resulting line loss reduces the power level below that which the equipment may effectively communicate ... consider powering the SeaTalk bus with a second power insertion (ex. from both ends of the SeaTalk bus).
- insufficient power ... when operating for extended periods on battery,
----- test the batteries and replace if necessary,
----- consider operating the vessel's charging system more frequently, and/or
----- add additional battery capacity to the onboard to support the marine electronics system

Fluxgate Compass/Airmar H2183

E80 classic, X10, St70, Digital Radar, DSM 300.

I've had issues with my autopilot breaking lock no matter where I position my fluxgate compass and or aligning my compass several times with around 5 degrees of deviation. I am not confident in my system although it does work OK sometimes but I have to keep an eye on it. Also, I have ohm'd out my compass and it checks out with procedures posted on forum. I have done all required updates as well. My question: Does the Raymarine fluxgate compass cycle at 1Hertz and would it be beneficial to replace it with an Airmar H2183 heading sensor at 10Hertz? I'm wondering if it gets saturated with all the equipment that I'm running and thus causing autopilot to malfunction. Thx in advance. Todd

Axiom 12 and SPX10/ST70

I have the SPX10/ST70 connected to the Axiom 12 using the NEMA2000/Seatalkng backbone.

Currently when I select goto it will start the goto on the Axiom 12 and I then have to hit the Track button on the ST70 in order to follow the goto track. With my previous MFD I had the option of starting the Autopilot Track from the MFD.

Is the ability to start the Autopilot track from the MFD only going to be available for EVO Autopilots? Or is it a limitation of my ST70 Control Head? Would replacing my control head with a P70 or P70R allow that functionality?

Is there any way to set an alarm that will go off if you accidentally travel into shallow waters? I searched the owners handbook several times, but came up with nothing. Did I miss it or is this just not an option with this older model?

E120 Track Causing Disc Usage Overload

At 3am last week leaving for our trip both of my E120s deciding to start rebooting themselves. After head scratching for a few minutes and a quick googling I found I had the disc usage problem that others have had caused by leaving my track on at all times. A quick factory reset cleared my 108% full hard drive and took care of the problem.

After trolling all day with my track on I again checked disc usage. It was 3% after the reset and midway through the day it had climbed to 43%! This seems crazy to me that I can't use my MFD to record my tracks constantly without having to do resets every couple trips.

Has anyone had this problem and figured out a solution or work around for this? I'm running 5.69 software after upgrading this wknd from 5.52. I'm not sure f there is a fix for this in 5.69. The solution seems to be to record less points in the track to limit disc usage but that defeats the whole purpose. I currently have my track interval set to auto. This doesn't make sense to me that I can't run a whole trip without loading the hard drive.

Seatalk HS Switch Diagnostics

I'm currently experiencing a problem with my E120 network. I have 2 E120s and a DSM300 all connected to a Seatalk HS Switch. Today while at the boat my secondary screen came up with a no master warning. I noticed that my master screen wasn't seeing either the DSM300 nor the slave E120. I checked my HS switch and none of the network lights were on at any of the Ethernet ports. I tried changing ports and still nothing. I verified power and ground to the switch which I had.

Other than this is there any other diagnostics I can perform on the HS switch or is it safe to assume the switch is bad? Thanks.

RE: Mechanical Installation of drive unit
I recently had my ST 6000 unit reworked at Raymarine and am now re-installing it. Reviewing the manual I find it hard to believe but there are only installation instructions for the electrical connections and the control unit and absolutely nothing about the mechanical installation of the drive unit.
I have replaced the drive unit on the pivot rod and have extended the drive arm to its connection point on the rudder yoke. However, there is a loose nut just exiting the large part of the drive arm which looks like it should be tightened to the end of that part of the drive arm. However, what position should the arm be when that nut is tightened?
Your manual does not address this at all. Please help

E80 radar overlay blanked in close range

$

Hello all,
Powered up my E80 and noticed the radar overlay will not plot anything inside of about 1.75 miles. Any radar returns are being totally blanked out 360 deg around the vessel. I have:
reset the E80 settings, settings and data
reset the radar parameters using the auto feature.
I have manually tuned everything,
The Rx video is being blanked out.
Any control that has been adjusted makes a difference on something and appears to function. All the self tests related to the E80 and the Radar pass with no issues.
This happened to me (about 2 years ago) and I fiddled and fiddled and all of a sudden it was working.
Has anybody seen this??

Thanks

Phil
