This thread is being written to suggest an enhancement to future software updates to eSeries MFD’s as follows:

- If a track recording is enhanced to record water temperature and depth if available, create an option to show every nth water temperature and / or depth data point in real time. The benefit of this feature is to track where a temperature break occurs when tolling.

Axiom 12 random shortcut pop-ups

I just installed my new Axiom 12 MFD. Generally, it works great, and I'm quite happy with it. There is one bit of add behavior, though.

At random, it occasionally pops up the shortcuts. After a few seconds, it disappears again. This is with no one touching the display.

Is there some way to correct this? Or do I need to return the MFD?

Thanks.

Red X over the Pilot transducer status icon within the Transducer Status Databar item

Red X over the Pilot transducer status icon within the Transducer Status Databar item

The Transducer Status Databar data item's Pilot transducer status icon will be overlaid with a red X when any of the following conditions occur:
- the MFD has not been interfaced via SeaTalk or via SeaTalkng to a compatible Raymarine autopilot featuring a SeaTalk or a SeaTalkng communications interface
- SeaTalk or SeaTalkng communications between the MFD and the autopilot cannot be established or has been interrupted ... troubleshoot the communications path between these products
- the MFD Autopilot Controls feature has not been enabled within the MFD's configuration settings ... consult your MFD's operations guide for the command sequence to enable this feature.

Accordingly, it would be normal for the Pilot Transducer Status icon to be overlaid with a red X when interfaced to a third party autopilot or when interfaced via NMEA 0183 communications protocol to a Raymarine autopilot. When properly interfaced to a Raymarine autopilot via NMEA 0183 communications protocol or to a compatible third party autopilot, the MFD's Autopilot Controls feature may not be used. While the MFD will be able to pass navigational data to the autopilot by commanding GoTo Waypoint / Cursor Position or Follow Route, it will be necessary to use the autopilot's control head to command the autopilot into its various modes (Standby, Auto, Track, etc.).

Are there any plans or discussion around adding software support to display engine parameters via a Bluetooth connection for the ES series MFDs? Merc has an option now to broadcast data via Bluetooth vs the older NMEA to smartcraft gateway that is currently supported.

Thanks for any input,

Mike

Data to supply in support of troubleshooting Evolution autopilot performance

Data to supply in support of troubleshooting an Evolution autopilot

In order to provide some guidance regarding the autopilot performance issue reported, we're going to need the following information from your system:
- Specification regarding whether a Pilot Factory Reset (MENU->SET-UP->AUTOPILOT CALIBRATION->COMMISSIONING->PILOT FACTORY RESET) has been commanded following any update to the Evolution autopilot's EV Sensor Core or ACU components ... if not, then it would be recommended that the Pilot Factory Reset be performed. It should then be followed by full commissioning (Dockside Wizard, Deviation/Handling Cruise, and reconfiguration of settings (compass offset, Pilot Response, etc.). Please click here to view a FAQ addressing the operating conditions to conduct when taking the vessel for the aforementioned cruise. Should the problem persist thereafter, then the following additional items should be provided to support troubleshooting of the Evolution autopilot:
----- The maximum deviation detected by the autopilot (MENU->SET-UP->DIAGNOSTICS->ABOUT PILOT) ... scroll to the very bottom of the displayed autopilot information to find the maximum detected DEVIATION.
----- Diagnostics...html file
----- Specification of whether a speed through water sensor has been interfaced to the system. This may be verified by configuring the MFD to display the Speed data item within a Databox. If the reported value is dashes, then no speed through water source has been interfaced to the system. If interfaced to a speed through water data source, then the MFD should be configured to display both the Speed and SOG data items within Databoxes. After doing so, and the autopilot is exhibiting the reported symptoms, what are the reported values for the Speed and SOG data items?
----- Specification regarding whether a rudder reference transducer has been interfaced to the ACU ... power the autopilot and SeaTalkng backbone ON, configure the autopilot into STANDBY mode, and then examine the rudder bar while rotating the wheel in each direction. If the rudder bar responds to rotation of the wheel, then the ACU has been verified to have been interfaced to a rudder reference transducer. Verify that the rudder bar correctly reflects the direction that the wheel / rudder has been turned.

Updating Axiom9 via microSD

Since updating over WiFi is not an option for me I have elected to update via microSD card.
As I understand the instructions, I am to extract the 3 files in the ISO to the microSD card, manifest.mdsum, manifest.xml, and raymarine_axiom_upgrade-3.0.60_LH3.0.3932.img .
When I insert the microSD card into the microSD port in back of the Axiom9, power it up and check for an update on the microSD card, I get a response that no upgrade file is found.
Is this the correct method, or should I just be copying the ISO to the microSD card ?

Multiple steering systems autopilot

I have an EV-200 with an octopus linear actuator for a mercruiser outdrive. My plan is to add a 25 Hp kicker motor to the boat for safety and low speed trolling. Can a system be added to steer the kicker motor independently of the main engine without complete duplication of components? The mercruiser is the standard power assisted cable and the kicker would most likely be hydraulic. I haven't purchased the kicker yet and am just in the planning stages. The pilot control is rotary with a C97 and an Axiom MFD's (operating independently until software update is available). My thinking, for what it's worth, is you couldn't operate more than one ACU on the sea talk ng network. Any advice?

Does the Rayviewer app work both ways? Can I push what is on my smartphone on the A128 screen or is there an app that will accomplish this?

Integrating st60+ wind to a STng environment

Hello,
I'm updating the electronics on a sailboat from ST60+, it has installed three displays with its transducers, wind, speed and depth.
I will install an EV1 wheel autopilot kit with the p70, an I70s and a MDF a65. Also I have an ITC-5 and a St to STng converter.
I would like to keep the analog wind display, I need to know the best way to integrate it, to use the wind information on the STng and also to be able to have the VMG displayed on it.
May be it is not a good idea.

Thanks

Bennett NMEA1 (N2K) trim tabs & the AXIOM 9rv

I tried to search on the forum but came up empty handed.

Will the Axiom 9RV support the readout AND calibration of the Bennett Marine NMEA1 kit via the N2k network?

I seem to recall reading something on here about not being able to calibrate the sensors, making it essentially useless. Before I spend the bucks I'd like to know if there are any issues.

Autopilot Evolution

I bought the ACU EV100 last year and it has never worked properly. When I engage the autopilot, sometimes it works well, sometimes it veers to the left and I have to auto correct it manually and/or by using the steering wheel.
I am not sure what is the problem.
Please advise.

Somewhere I've seen a chart that shows the dc voltage readings that should be measured between the various wires that are connected to the back of the i60. Red to common, yellow to common, etc. i can not locate this.

ST800/P120 (Plastic) vs. (Bronze)

Chuck,

The thermister in my ST800/P120 (Bronze) transducer that's connected to a CP370 has failed (currently reading ~ 104 degrees). I do NOT need to replace the thru-hull, only the transducer.

My question, will the transducer from the Plastic (E66071) fit the Bronze (E66072) thru hull? There's a significant cost savings if I go with the Plastic.

Feature suggestion - if they ARE interchangeable, please offer just the transducer at a correspondingly lower cost.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Hydraulic pump

My pump for my S1000 died and I 've replaced it with a new Type 1. The Pump manual shows that I need to connect the lines, with the motor towards the helm, parallel to the pump ports. However the manual of the S1000 shows them connected opposite.
Does anybody have any idea which is the right way? Thanks

From the RayMaraine website:

CHIRP SideVision® and DownVision™ Together

Combine the CP200 with CHIRP DownVision™ for the ultimate in sonar intelligence, giving you a full 180 degree view of your underwater surroundings.

Add CHIRP DownVision™ to your network with a CP100 DownVision Sonar or an aSeries multifunction display (DownVision™ models only)

********************************************************************

How is this achieved...............through a combination of units/transducer or two separate independent units with individual transducers.

E90W Replacement

I currently have an E90W MFD which is directly connected to an HD color radome via SeaTalk, and connected to a KVH heading sensor, a TR-1 Gold autopilot, and a Lowrance Link-8 radio (for AIS) via NMEA 0183. It is also using a RayStar 130 GPS antenna. I have a separate Furuno fish finder. I'd like to upgrade this year and replace the MFD and fish finder with an all-in-one display.

I'm looking for recommendations as to a combination of large screen MFD, transponder, and adapters that would allow me to retain my current functionality without a major investment in other additional equipment.

Most of my fishing is done in Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, in waters ranging from 35' to 400'. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I have a Raymarine Tactick T121 that I would like to connect to an Analog Airmar Transducer ST850 (PN: 31-590-7-71)

The wires are:
RED (+voltage - speed),
BLACK (ground - speed),
GREEN (signal - speed),
YELLOW (thermistor - temp),
WHITE (thermistor - temp), and
SHIELD

How do these correspond to the connections on the T121?

Thanks,
Bill

Updating other Raymarine devices with Axiom

Updating other devices on the SeaTalk network (such as the i70s) is not yet supported by the Axiom software. Any idea when this will be added? I've seen vague references to a quarterly update, though updates seem to be coming out quicker than that (yea!) -- are there specific dates set for "quarterly updates"?

Thanks.

NMEA 2000 log with Axiom

Most of the other Raymarine MFDs allow you to see a log of NMEA messages. I'm trying to diagnose a problem where this would be really handy. But the Axiom doesn't seem to have this feature yet. Is there a target date for this feature? If it's not going to be for some time, then I may need to buy other hardware to get the same functionality.

Thanks.

ST6001 Smartpilot controller connection to eS127 MFD

My local installer has replaced my E Classics with and eS127 master, eS128 slave, new HD raydome, with various cables, starter and converter kits recommended by our local Raymarine rep. Every thing, radar, AIS, chart plotter etc works great except for the auto pilot. The master MFD does not seem to recognize the auto pilot. I have updated the software on the MFDs. My installer has been on the phone with the local rep and they have not seemed to be able to sort out the issue. Recommendations? Is there a particular tech support person the installer should call?
Thanks
David
