ST60 Depth Issue

$

Recently removed a RL70C and replaced it with a C120MFD. Employed a qualified technician to install and run all necessary wiring. Connected new (used) C120 to my existing ST60 Wind, Speed & Depth, and ST6001+ Auto Pilot with SG1 Controller Computer. I had the tech connect the old RL70C at Nav station as a slave.
The problem is after the install, about 1 1/2 hours into each cruise trip,
the ST60 Depth starts doubling and tripling the depth. After maybe 30 minutes or less, it either shows ------ across or freezes with "last depth" which was incorrect anyway. After being turned off overnight it starts out each morning working properly until underway 1 1/2 to 2 hours and it will then register 99 in 25 ft or 38 in 17. All over the place. I tried leaving it on just sitting in marina and sure
enough about 1 1/2 hours of being on it went from 2 ft which was correct as it was low tide in the marina to 17, 18, 20.
Any suggestions as to possible problem, Wiring? Computer issue?
I am at a loss. If it matters, it is a 2004 Catalina 36MKII.
Thanks!

Recommended Serial to USB Adapters for use with Raymarine products

While Raymarine does not manufacture serial to USB adapters, such adapters are available from many third parties to support wired communications between computers and Raymarine products featuring a serial communications interface (i.e. E85001 PC/SeaTalk/NMEA 0183 Interface Module (retired) and products featuring a NMEA 0183 communications interface). Raymarine recommends SeaLevel's Model 2105R and Actisense NDC-4-USB for such wired communications between computers and Raymarine products having a serial communications interface. SeaLevel additionally offers opto-isolated serial to USB adapters for those seeking an adapter which is designed to prevent ground loops.

For those seeking NMEA 0183 to Wi-Fi, one of the most commonly recommended adapters is Digital Yacht's WLN-10 and WLN-20.

Birds on wind vane

Ospreys like to perch right on top of the wind vane. The direction function no longer works, so I have to repair or replace the vane. How can I keep the birds off without upsetting the wind flow and accuracy? If the screw that held the vane cap on had a stiff wire post a couple inches long, that would probably work, as long as it didn't get bent.

ST60 Wind - Suspect wire damage

I have reason to suspect wire damage in the mast. However I am confused by the readings I get:
Instrument powers up displays --- and straight up arrow.
When all wires are connected I have 8V across all 4 wires from GND
(does this indicate continuity to the masthead and back?)
When only GND and Red connected, I have 8V from
GND to Red and also 8V on the return line from the masthead on Blue Green Yellow.
So I am confused as to what I'm seeing or, coincidentally with the extreme street on the wires did the transducer fail.?
Anyway, thanks for any input!

Wheel Pilot Stuttering

EV-100 with P70, less than a year old.

The motor often turns with a stuttering motion. That is, it turns the wheel in many small increments, rather than smoothly. This is true whether the clutch is engaged or not.

It turns the wheel smoothly with major course correction of 10+ degrees. But for smaller corrections it stutters. Especially true for starboard turn.

I've retensioned the drive belt several times, without effect. Since the stuttering occurs with the wheel disengaged, it doesn't seem to be a belt issue.

Perhaps normal? Perhaps some other setting is incorrect?

C-Series Classic - AIS over STNG/NMEA2000?

Hi -

I have a c series classic at the helm. It has a Seatalk2 connection to the rest of the boat. On the Seatalk2 network is an ST70 autopilot head connected to our X10 "computer" via STNG - so the ST70 is bridging Seatalk2 and STNG.

Can I hook an AIS unit to the STNG network via devicenet/nmea2000 and pick up the info on the MFD, bridged by the ST70 to Seatalk2?

Thanks!

Guys/Gals

I made the jump upgraded my electronics to the Axiom and find out through a support line it does not support mobile apps...............The major reason I went this way was to use the ipad as a second screen.

Any Idea when this will be updated fixed.

I am planning on upgrading my electonics from my 2009 E-80 system . What in my old system can be used with the new Axiom?

I currently have ( and all working good)

E-80
DSM300
ST70 x10 Smartpilot
HS switch 2K radar
125 GPS
Airmar TM260 transducer
Tr-1Gold autopilot
Flowscan9000
radio with sirrius capacity
VHS
Webasto heater

I want one of the screens on the new system to show engine data and I do want to have the downscan, sidescan etc.

I guess,that I want it all.

Can you build the best system for me?

Probably use the 9 inch screen. I have a Hewescraft Ocean Pro 22 with 225 Honda and 15 HP kicker with 2 helms

I am not a do-it-your-selfer , so I will have a professional do the install.

Raymarine Mobile apps for Axiom MFDs?

Raymarine Mobile apps for Axiom MFDs?

In order to assist customers in determining whether a product's current features will meet the customer's needs, Raymarine maintains the latest versions of its product documentation on its website. The currently supported features of Raymarine's Axiom MFDs may be found within the latest version of the LightHouse 3 Advanced Operation Instructions. Like operation guides for most consumer products, such documentation is designed to document the features supported by the product, not those which are unsupported. At the time of this posting, these instructions did not specify support for integration with mobile apps, Raymarine or third party. Per the Raymarine Mobile Apps web pages, the RayRemote, RayControl, and RayView apps are designed for Wi-Fi equipped a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs running LightHouse II software. These apps are unfortunately not compatible with MFDs running LightHouse 3 software, including Axiom MFDs. Future Raymarine mobile apps and future LightHouse 3 software enhancements will in time provide similar capabilities for MFDs running LightHouse 3 software. We are aware that the Raymarine Mobile Apps very important to our customers and will work to provide these apps as soon as possible. Should the software update pace follow that of prior LightHouse software updates, then updates to LightHouse 3 software would occur at approximately four month intervals. As with prior LightHouse software updates, each future LightHouse 3 software update is expected to add new features to those provided within the prior LightHouse 3 software update, enriching the MFD's feature set, and keeping the product's feature set competitive with similar third party products.

eS128 Control Backlighting

Hello,

On my new eS127/eS128 installation the red control backlighting on the eS127 is plenty visible at night, however on the neighboring eS128 it's very dim/faint and hardly visible at all. I have both units setup to sync brightness, and that is functioning properly. How can I increase the red backlighting on the eS128?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hello,

My eS127/eS128 installation is showing my course/route history overlaying on my charts. How do I turn it off? All the zig zagging and overlapping over time is starting to really clutter the charts, especially around my harbor.

Thanks,
Ryan

2003 380 Sea Ray Dancer

Equipment
- RL80C PLUS PATHFINDER CHARTPLOTTER W/RADAR ARRAY
- RN300 GPS
- ST7001 AUTOPILOT CONTROL HEAD
- SMARTCRAFT DISPLAY
Don’t currently know which transducer is in the boat for depth or sonar. It is original to the boat.

SCENARIO:
1. GPS is connected to RL80C for satellite fix.
2. Radar, Autopilot and fishfinder data is displayed on the RL80C

ISSUES:
1. RN300 GPS screen burn in & not readable. Unit cannot obtain a satellite fix. Want to replace.
2. RL80C interfaced with RN300 GPS – neither GPS or RL80C can obtain a fix.

Questions:
1. I’m looking for a unit that has an internal antenna to replace the RN300 GPS. The replacement units primary function will be to provide satellite fix using it’s internal antenna and to interface with the RL80C. Does Raymarine have a solution that will allow connections to the RL80C so RL80C will still provide working radar, fishfinder and autopilot functionality?
2. What upgrades, if any, will be required to make all the systems work?
3. Will my current C Maps from the RL80C work with the unit you suggest?

Transducer selection

I'm sold on upgrading to a refit of an all new system for my vessel, Going with an Axiom based system.

What is the best selection of a real vision transducer for this system?

Vessel is a 1998 Grady White 272 Sailfish. I have two "transducer flats" one on either side of the keel. Both are higher than the keel.

Will i require the paired set of transducers? Which version of the paired set?

Could I use a single transom mount transducer and get the same performance?

Thanks
Chuck

EV-150 - Voltage - Pump Supply

I purchased the #V-150 and the Type 1 Pump. I am having an issue with the pump not engaging 100%. When I switch the autopilot to Auto - you can hear the pump work to actuate but it doesn't engage. I look at the voltage and I am at 13.8V at the ES128 MFD. It seems like the voltage being supplied to the pump is not sufficient. What additional information do you need to help with a resolution. thank you!

sailboat upgrade path

Hi I'm upgrading and want to know if what I have picked will all work together ok?

We are off in 2 years so I have to get this done sooner than later. :)

axiom (not sure of the size, sonar and chart options)
Quantum radar
i70s multi display
T120 Wireless Wind Transducer
T910 Transducer
S100 Remote Control

standard ais radio(happen to like them)
already purchased
EV-200 Sail

I have looked at the cruising and racing options but they don't really describe what I'm looking for.

I know the axiom is the newest, as we are planning on a few years of cruising I don't want to buy something that's going to be out of date.

My idea of all the wireless stuff is that we can have a couple of ipads to access the data where ever we are on the boat. (38' sailboat)

Is the T910 transducer the right one for a sailboat?

The next purchase I would like to make is the radar, might do the wind transducer at the fewer trips up the mast!!! lol (good luck with that!!! want to take bets on the amounts of trips up?)

Silly Question - A68

$

Our new boat (2017 Cruisers 298) has a built in a68. The firmware is 19.03 and I have the Navionics Chesapeake Bay chip registered/updated with fresh data installed.

I can see its running the chip chart. (I have the boat data entered)

My silly question is how do I get it to route dock to dock or autoroute?

I have dock to dock turned on.

When I pick a waypont from my marina it just draws a straight line to it but does not route. (goes over land)

What am I doing wrong?

Had a Garmin on our old boat and it was easy to master this a68 is pretty but I cant get it to work for me.

Thanks

Mike

Engine / electronics noise affecting fishfinder performance?

$

Engine / electronics noise affecting fishfinder performance?

While most bottom loss and noisy plot fishfinder performance issues are associated with aeration of the fishfinder transducer, these performance issues may also be caused by electrical interference. Should the problem manifest itself while the vessel is not being propelled by power or sail, then it would be recommended that all electronics except for the fishfinding electronics, electrical circuits, generators, shore power, and engines be switched OFF. Should the problem persist, then it would be recommended that the fishfinding product be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. However, should the problem abate when operating under this quiet ship mode of operation, then it would appear the performances issues are indeed being caused by electrical interference. Electrical interference from engine systems is easily tested by bringing the boat up to the speed that the bottom contact begins to be lost or noise within the plots is observed, and then noting the engine(s) RPMs. The boat would then be stopped, the engine(s) shifted into neutral, and the engine(s) RPMs then increased to the previously noted RPMs. Should the fishfinder maintain bottom contact and no noise be observed within the fishfinder plot, then the fishfinder performance issue would be deemed to not be caused by electrical noise from the engine(s).

The most common cause of such interference is bundling of the transducer cable with engine cables, power cables, and the cables from other electrical devices.
