Compass Safe Distances are the minimum distances that product may be installed within proximity to a compass without affecting the deviation sensed by the compass. Should a product be installed closer than the specified Compass Safe Distances, then it is recommended that the compass be re-calibrated following the product's installation. Generally speaking, installation of electronics within 3' of a compass may affect the deviation sensed by the compass, necessitating that the compass be re-calibrated following installation of the marine electronics. The following Compass Safe Distances have been specified within Section 3.11 Selecting a location of the eS-Series MFD Installation Instructions:
