I have a C 90 W multi screen chart plotter. I also have a DSM 300
what cables do I need to connect to power and to each other? and to a third party depth sounder transducer?
any help would be most welcome

Hi,

I purchased the RS150 GPS antenna with hopes that it solves the issue of my Axiom 9 slow to lock and COG and SOG poor accuracy. I did a quick test with it and the results are encouraging... quick to lock signal (seconds now instead of the several minutes it was taking before) and HDOP at around 0.7.

I’m now trying to decide where to mount the RS150. The manual gives several requirements (open view of the sky, 1m away from other devices and compass etc). One of the requirements is that it be mounted “on a level horizontal surface”. The level surfaces on this boat are either under the hardtop or where people walk or where it could get fouled in a line. There just is not much level area that I can route a cable to that is not occluded by hardtop, mast, boom, etc.

So my question is - how horizontal does it need to be? Is a 15° angle ok? 20°? Or put another way; which is better, mounting it flat with some obstruction by a fiberglass hard top, or mounting it more vertically with a better view of the sky? My boat (sailing catamaran) doesn’t heel much, but on a monohull, this has to be an issue with a known answer?

Looking to replace my A60 as the screen has died. What might be a similar choice for replacement? Can I still use the existing transducer?

Is there a less expensive alternative that might work?

Good day, I have an Axiom Pro 12 RVX and have been trying to upgrade the software from version 3.5.40 to version 3.11.42 and am having issues. Using wifi, the download has failed a couple of times and once when it did download completely and switched to install mode the Axiom unit itself immediately shut down. I tried downloading the update to a micro sd card on my computer and installing the update from the sd card. Same thing happens, when the display switches to install mode it immediately shuts down and I have to reboot by turning the power source off and on again. I have tried doing factory resets and putting in an empty 32gb sd card in the extra slot to no avail....??

Could the download to the sd card be corrupt...? I had trouble finding a software download link on the Raymarine site that would actually work, the one I found was at raymarine.eu

To save me days of work pulling wires, I'm thinking of getting a Garmin GNX Wireless package consisting of :
gWind Wireless 2 transducer
GNX™ Wind Instrument
GNX™ 20 Instrument
DST800 thru-hull smart transducer
Bunch of NMEA 2000 cables

How do I hook it up with a Axiom 9, and what limitations in performance can I expect? I guess depth offset can be trimmed by the Garmin instruments. What about depth alarm and other stuff?

Installed an RD424 HD onto an existing dual E120 system using the new cable and latest software (5.69) upgrade.
All went well and the with Radar operating via both E120's responding to input from the MFD's as desired.
After about an hour I rxd a call from the owner saying he could not get either MFD to display radar.
Upon my return:
The radar icon remained greyed out. Once the warm up message indicated the unit was ready to transmit , it would not transmit
Voltage both under load and at the power connector appeared nominal. ~12.8 vdc.
Swapped ethernet ports on the HS switch no change there
Operation was fine with no issues with with either MFD during upgrade.
Returned TWO radars after figuring we had a bad RD424 resulting from a brief chat with support. We agreed later that 2 bad RD's were unlikely
THEN
Started to lose fix ~20 to 25 times per day trip.
My guy wants to go fishing.
I've successfully downgraded other (NON RAYMARINE) systems with success.
SO.....
Nextstep:
Contacted 1st level who opened case 200508-000043
2nd level recommended downgrade to 4.30
I cannot find a copy to download.
I do see issues raised about downgrades

Which is it ?
What are my next steps?

My boat has the smartpilot S1 installed with the fluxgate, rudder position but the hydrolic motor is bad. I just upgraded to the Axiom 9rv.

I would like to know if the smartpilot with NO head can connect to the Axiom via nmea0183 or Seatalk 1 into my nmea2k backbone?

The reason for this question is I would rather replace the pump and use the axiom to control the autopilot instead of spending 2k on a replacement/upgraded autopilot.

so I guess its 2 questions

1 - Will the S1 interface with my axiom over nmea2k or ST1 and if so what cables will i need

2 - Can i run the S1 just with the Axiom 9rv or do I need a new head unit and if not which head units work with it

I just upgraded my E97 screens to Axiom Pro’s. I know the Axiom has a built-in GPS antenna but I’ve heard it’s better to go with an external. Will the RS130 that was working with the E97 work with the Axiom or do I need to change it out?

There is a small gray cable that has a white and a black wire in it. It is connected to a brown and yellow wire coming out of the main power cable for the E97. The wiring diagram for the E97 shows the yellow wire has to do with the “Tx trigger”. I assume this is for my HD Color Radar? I don’t see this wire in the radar manual. Any ideas?

Can I use the Vesper XB-8000 AIS WI-FI capability to interface with my Raymarine C95 MFD WI-FI wirelessly to get AIS info on MFD and not have to use the NEMA 2000 to SeaTalk wired connection?

If so how do I do it?

Good morning,
I took took a screen shut of my Axiom MFD V.3.11.42 at 09:57:17. Saved it in SD1 memory card. I opened the file and I get a mistach in the Time frame 13:57:13
Why I get it?

A few months ago I installed a new EV-100 Wheel Evolution Autopilot and with it a SmartController. Since the installation I have had problems getting the SmartController to stay connected to the base and finally started troubleshooting the issue.

If I hold the remote within a few inches of the base, it connects with full signal, 5 bars. If I move the remote to beyond 3 feet it drops the connection entirely. In the range between, I see no lowering of the signal level, it stays at 5 bars until it drops off completely.

At first I thought maybe the power connection was not solid an re-checked the wiring and all looked good. Inside the base on the connection block, I checked the voltage and it stayed a steady 12.7 volts while moving the remote in and out of the 3 ft range and the connect/disconnect events.

Is there anything else I can try, or is this likely a return for repair issue?

I have an axiom 12 which I have been using for a while now. I use overlays such as water temp, time, etc but have never really paid attention to the actual date until I save some waypoints on my last fishing trip two days ago. My system is nmea2000 networked and includes fluid level sensor, two Garmin GM10’s for engine data, the axiom mfd, an rv100 transducer, and an external gps antenna.
When I went back to my saved waypoints I noticed all the dates were set to 20/09/2000 which is out by over 19 years. The time though is correct. I then went to my satellite page and noticed the date there was also incorrect and indicated 22/09/2000 with the correct time displayed and a number of satellites shown. This all came about as I was trying to calibrate my fluid level sensor which worked correctly but showed the calibration date as being 22/09/2000. I am running the latest lighthouse 3 software version having updated the system about a month ago. I have no issues with engine data except that the engine hours shown on the mdf are crazy different from my Garmin’s which show the correct engine hours. For example Garmin engine hours show 498 but the mfd shows 1478. I’ve tried to look up other posts to try and see what’s going on but cannot find very much information. Can someone please let me know if there is a solution to this issue?

Hi Folks,

Thanks for your continued help on this forum its indispensable.

I have the type II hydraulic arm mounted and I am currently dry fitting the hydraulic pump. The manual says that the pump needs to be horizontal, and that it should be level with or higher than the hydraulic arm - i'm assuming this is so any air in the system would flow up to the pump and not stay down in the arm.

(1) Looking at my options during pump dry fit it looks like I can get the pump ever so slightly higher than the arm. Is this good enough or should I work to find a solution where it is minimum several inches / considerably above the arm? Is there real benefit to this?

(2) In almost all of my options the hoses from the arm to the pump need to be routed up and end up running at a level that is much higher than the pump. If the hoses run higher than the pump on the way to the pump, does this undo or negate the effort I've made to have my pump slightly higher than the arm, b/c the hoses end up going higher and air could / would get trapped there.

I will attach a photo of where I am currently thinking of mounting the pump. This is location is accessible for maintenance / inspection, does not interfere with climbing down into the lazarette, its an easy install, and it does get the pump an inch or two higher than the arm (even though the hoses must run much higher).

My sr150 that came with my new 2014 boat died. I purchased a used one. I connected it today. The indicator lights seem to be ok: power orange, network green, antenna green, audio no light. The lights that are on are steady. The problem is the unit is not communicating with my e127 MFDs! I don’t have a XM subscription yet. I was going to get it today. But if I cannot see the unit on my MFDs, no point calling XM.

Any thoughts what the problem might be?

Recently picked up a 1999 4788 Bayliner that has a combination of new and original Raytheon/Raymarine components that I am attempting to learn, sort out and add to. So I am looking for some advice on what I may need. The best I can tell the new stuff is not interfaced with the old. The components are,

New
Axiom 9RV-9" MFD 3D + 600w (mounted in pilothouse)
Quantum 18" Q24W (wifi model) w/ Pwr Cbl

Old
Raypilot650 - Works manually but not connected to MFD (mounted in pilothouse)
Raypilot 65 remote - Does not work.
Raydata - does not work looking for suitable replacement (mounted on flybridge)
Ray210VHF works (mounted in pilothouse). Flybridge has a different brand.

There are also what appears to be 2 possible GPS antennas on the arch. One is a D-Beacon RX unit I assume may no longer be active. The other looks similar but has a metal antenna on top. GPS works so I assume its connected to one of these.

Based on this, what can be used and interfaced with the new stuff and what do I need?
What should be replaced and with what?
What is a good AIS to add?

Have recently bought AXIOM 9 connected to Quantum 18" radar and Element 9S as plotter and Element 7S for sonar.
All MFD's are connected to M2K network together with a gateway for AIS

For some reason the two Element's cannot accept the Axiom.
Axiom have no trouble with the Elements

Everything is running latest software

The local Raymarine dealer claims that AXIOM and Elements are not compatible in a M2K network.

Can this really be the case?

Hi all, I am new to boating so I am a bit lost here and even though I am reading and reading it is still not very clear to me what do I need to do.

I have a raymarine RC435 chartplotter, a tridata ST60+ a ST60 wind system and a autopilot ST6000.
Additionally I have an AIS from weatherdock with NMEA0183 and WIFI.

I intent to upgrade the chartplotter to Axiom and I would like to know which cables should I buy for a proper installation.

1) can all the devices be connected to the Axiom by a seatalk NG backbone?
2) can I control the autopilot from the Axiom (or like make the autopilot follow a route and so on)?
3) Can I connect the AIS to the Axiom using the wifi connection? and would it be possible to connect them by nmea 0183 to nmea2000 adapter and to the seatalk NG?
4) If for the moment i just buy the chartplotter but I don't connect it to any backbone the chartplotter can still be used as a GPS map? Could I use the existing power source from the RC435 to power the Axiom?

We just replaced our E120W MFDs and S3G Volvo IPS autopilot with two new Axiom Pros and EVO autopilot package. I’d like to find homes for the used equipment rather than scrapping it. The MFDs and other components are easy enough. The question is what components of the autopilot are generic (can be used for non Volvo applications)? I know the control head is, as is the miscellaneous stuff like junction boxes and cables. Are the DPU and S3G usable on other platforms?
