[CA11] Wind speed not reporting correctly

I have an ST60 wind angle, wind vane, RC530 at nav station, RL70C Plus at helm, and tridata.

At anchor, when I first provide power, after the start up dashes go away, the wind angle instrument shows what appears to be correct velocity with blinking pixels under True and App. After a few seconds the pixel under either True or App goes solid and the velocity shown reduces to zero. For example it might show 14, then 6.3, then 4.2, then 0.0. This is reflected on the MFDs.

The wind angle needle shows correctly as does depth and speed on the tridata. Of course at anchor speed is zero.

Electrical signals from the wind vane appear reasonable.

The wind angle and depth show on the MFDs.

As I write this I am thinking that the speed data is not making it to the wind angle instrument and so it is failing to 0.0 wind speed instead of assuming the boat speed of 0.

When underway the results are the same.

Any other ideas about the issue or additional tests to make?

[CA11] Can you add a internet browser function to LH3 for Axiom?

Hi,

I know LH3 (LightHouse 3) has internet connection so we can register our Mavic Pro drone and user your app to watch Netflix, listen to music in Spotify.

Can you also add an internet browser app or function as soon as Axiom MFD is connected to an internet access point like our iPhone or mobile hotspot?

It would gives us awhole lot of values for Axiom MFD.

Fishing in 5' of water, to 3500'
Having dual axiom Pro's rvx with rv212's installed.
In the 400' - 3500' of water, is the 109lh 2kw my best option with the CP570.
OR, is there a better option?

Hi, sorry for my english. I have an axiom 12 with cp470 and bh265 transducer. You say to set ping rate to auto but i can set only 1 to 100 rate or disable ping. Why? thanks

[CA11] Rayview stopped working as soon as Axiom connected to Quantum radar?

Rayview app stopped working as soon as Axiom connected to Quantum radar even by Raynet cable instead of wifi???

I can see if I connect Axiom to Quantum radar by Quantum radar wifi with its log in and password to Axiom, then Axiom wifi may not work.

But I was connecting Axiom to Quantum radar using a cable, so don't see why I cannot connect my iphone to Axiom and use iphone app of Rayview to see what's on the display?

Is there a way to get this working?

[CA11] St5000+ Heading alignment

My 5000+ was working effectively holding course but I noticed a difference in the heading alignment compared to my compass. I decided to recalibrate. I ended up with a deviation correction of 4deg but have issues with heading alignment

When I completed the alignment process the heading entered remains ‘frozen’ on the display. No matter whay heading I am on the display heading remains constant. Obviously the auto pilot does not hold course inder these conditions

Any help would be greatly appreciated

[CA11] SmartPilot has failed

My Raymarine auto pilot has just failed and I need some help to diagnose what is wrong.

The installation comprises
1. SmartPilot Computer – S3
2. SmartPilot Controller – ST7001
3. Fluxgate compass
4. Rudder position sensor
5. Drive unit

The fault shows thus: on Standby the rudder position (shown on the Controller) shows the rudder to be on full left lock, irrespective of the actual rudder position. When Auto is selected there is some movement of the rudder however an alarm sounds and “No Rudder” message is displayed.

My (low skill) testing shows:
• All Computer fuses are good.
• With the Motor terminal wires disconnected the Computer ‘Motor’ terminals deliver: 0 volts on Standby, 4.76 volts rising to 11.86 volts with Auto engaged and a turn of 30 degrees selected, this returns to 0 volts if an additional 10 degrees are added.
• The Clutch terminals of the Computer carry 11.86 volts when Auto is selected.
• Voltage is present at each of the Fluxgate compass connections (too difficult to make out each of the individual voltages).
• The Rudder position sensor wiring (at the sensor) carry a voltage, which changes as the sensor angle is altered (manually).
• The Drive unit is an unknown (to me).

Can you suggest what is wrong, any further tests I should try and what I should do to rectify the situation

[CA11] Can I use A80308 Quantum Radar Adapter Cable

My boat currently has a 2007 vintage 4kw 24" Raymarine Radome on software version v20.25 with unit serial number 0570052 (manufactured May 2007). The MFD display is a Raymarine classic E80.

This radome is inoperable with magnetron heater failure status.

To replace it I purchased a new Raymarine Quantum Q24C 18" (model E70210R 18” Radome with Wi-Fi and ethernet, 10m power cable included). At the same time I am also upgrading the display to a Raymarine eS98 at the helm. The boat already has a functioning SeatalkNG backbone.

Pulling new power and data cables will be a major undertaking.

Can I use the Raymarine A80308 Quantum Radar Adapter Cable with my setup and leave the original 4kw radome cable in place in the mast?

Assuming I can use the adapter cable, how do I use the original radar cable with my new eS98? I assume I will be plugging the Q24C into the old harness up the mast but cutting and splicing wiring at the eS98-side of the install.

[CA11] RV-100 Mounting "out of water"

I currently have a thru-hull transducer used for high speed depth recording and wanted to know if the RV-100 transducer being mounted "slightly high" to prevent spray when running would impact the life or function of the RV-100?

I understand I will not get accurate if any readings at speed from the RV-100 but when I slow to a fast idle (off plane) I think it should work as intended.

Please let me know.

[CA11] Getting depth readins from Raymarine Tacktick wireless depth sounder

Hi,

I have a Raymarine Tacktick T910 depth sounder, which we all know is really an Airmar DST800. I also have the associated hull transmitter T121.

I used to have the T111 dual display, but lost it in an unfortunate accident.

Since I also have the Micro-Talk wireless gateway, that translates Tacktick wireless data into NMEA2000. I was curious if this could be used to get depth information.

So far, it doesn't seem to be the case. Do the T110 and T111 does something special to activate the depth transducer that the Micro-Talk wireless gateway does not?

[DG11] Raymarine EVO ACU-400 Install

I'm installing the ACU unit for our new EVO autopilot. We are reading the section in the manual about the RF ground but we do not have one. We understood that the ACU was a fairly direct swap with our old Raytheon unit, but the old one didn't have this type of ground. Are we reading correctly that there should be two wires going to the negative bus bar? How can we ensure this new unit is grounded?

[DG11] Axiom Pro No radar AIS target setting

I have the Axiom Pro 12 Lighthouse version 3.2.xx that I am setting up. I have AIS fed through a NMEA 0183 radio to port 2. In chart mode I get AIS symbols and complete menu when going to Menu/Targets/AIS. In radar mode I have no targets and the Targets menu has no access to AIS targets. Just Menu/Targets. Do I have some setting turned off?

[DG11] e95 hybrid -Problems after System Reset

The MFD is no longer able to turn on radar or detect AIS. There was no issue with this before I did a reset. The reset was done because I forgot the password to the iPad Navionics App for sync purposes.

[DG11] Can you add an EV1 compass to an ST7000 autopilot?

I have an ST7000 autopilot, an ES78 chartplotter and a Quantum (wifi) radar system on my 43' sailboat. I have a mix of SeaTalk (NMEA183) and SeaTalkNG (NMEA2000) network connecting them all up. The chartplotter uses the compass heading from the ST7000 fluxgate compass to superimpose the radar image on the chart. Because the old ST7000 fluxgate compass isn't very accurate, I often have a mismatch between the radar image and the chart of up to 20 degrees, depending on heading. Can I add an EV1 sensor core to my system to improve the accuracy of the radar and heading data on the chartplotter, without having to replace the ST7000 autopilot control unit, which is still working OK? [DG11] T121 Hull transmitter power

Am I right in thinking that the Tacktick T121 hull transmitter works on three 3v batteries, and that if the batteries are moved, or dead, it will not operate even when fed with a 12v supply?

When I looking at the health of mine, I see 29.9 (presumably the signal strength), and either 1 bar on the battery indicator, or no bars. Despite it constantly being plugged into a good 12v power source.

[CA11] Axiom SideVision Range limited after Update

I updated my Axiom to v3.8.105 last night. Today while on the water my sidevision range was limited to around 60-80 feet on each side then it is completely dark. Didn't spend much time researching but I'm fairly certain no other changes have occurred.

[DG11] dual autopilots and hunting

I recently installed two ACU 400's and two type 3 rams. Obviously only one can be powered at any given time. I daisy chained the two ACU's off of one rudder sensor. One of your moderators indicated that could create problems so I disconnected the second ACU. Both units work perfectly without the rudder sensor, however if I connect the ACU to the rudder sensor it sometimes goes into violent oscillation, perhaps once an hour, more often if the weather is rough. I can stop this by grabbing and briefly holding the wheel. I've run setup as indicated in the manual and ensured that the system is thoroughly bled. Any suggestions.
