I realize the Raypilot 650 is no longer supported but was wondering if you could offer some feedback on a heading issue I'm having. Ever since the end of last season, the unit will not keep an accurate heading. I have followed the re-calibration procedure by entering calibration mode and driving slowly in circles for 3 minutes and I've also done the manual adjustment several times. It will stay accurate for about 20 minutes then show an inaccurate heading again. Is there anything that could be causing this or is the unit just old and needs to be replaced? It interfaces just fine with my Raymarine e97, so I don't want to replace it if it's not necessary.

[CA11] Electronics Upgrade
Having recently purchased a Princess 266 with 2 x 4.3 V6 inboards I am looking to upgrade the equipment currently fitted:
2kw Raydome
Raymarine C70 chartplotter
Raymarine Raychart 435
Raymarine ST60 + Depth (not working, transducer appears to be at fault)
Autohelm Speed log
Boat will be used mainly for inshore & inland cruising, what would be a good start point??
I was looking initially to replace both depth & speed logs with an i70s coupled with either the triducer or individual transducers for depth / temp & speed (which would be best?)
The existing plotters I thought could be replaced with a single unit from the Axiom series. If I go down this route is there a thru hull transducer that will work with this unit and talk to the i70s as well.
Thanks in advance for any help guidance on this one.

[CA11] eS127 chart detail display problem
I am running a Raymarine es127 hybrid touch MFD system with a master display belowdecks, and a slave display at the helm. Both machines were updated to Lighthouse II software last Fall.
I recently purchased a Lighthouse NOAA vector chart for the Northeast (Order Number: RC-16385-11052) . The master display belowdecks shows the chart in the Very Detailed mode, with options for Simple and Detailed modes.. However, the slave display at the helm shows the chart only in the Simple mode, with no option for Detailed or Very Detailed display.
I need the Very Detailed view on both displays.
Can you help me sort this out?
Thanks very much.

[CA11] Updating/replacing older Control head/Computer
Setup question...replaced outdated electronics on my Carver 370 Aft Cabin- (38’). New Vulcan 7FS plotter will not interact with old autopilot- Raypilot 650 - all it detects is the rudder deflection position. The raypilot system is seatalk 1, which I converted via a digital yacht converter to 0183, then converted to 2000 via an actisense NGW-1 (4800 baud). Really not sure why it won’t communicate....my only option I believe is to replace the raypilot 650 and computer....will this system work- Raymarine EV-150 Power Pilot Core Pack? I have a type 1 drive unit already installed from the old system- (worked great and probably could save me dollars if I can still use it)..
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

[CA11] SR6 vs SR150 Weather and Wave Data
For a week or two a year my boat gets to play in the Bahama's otherwise she is stuck on inland lakes.
I am upgrading from the original Dragonfly to a closeout a78. I noticed that it is capable of displaying weather data. That led to the discovery that the SR150 would cost more than the a78 but the older SR6 is affordable second hand.
It appears that the SR6 is restricted to the old Mariner & Voyage Sirius packages while the SR150 can use the newer Coastal and Offshore packages.
I am likely to acquire a used SR6 and activate it for summers but unlikely to spend $600 on an SR150 for limited usage.
Can anyone help me understand the difference in the weather and particularly wave data available vie the SR6/Mariner versus SR150/Coastal.
Thank you

[CA11] Quantum no connecting to a series unit
My radar used to work, but now it won't connect. I never had to enter a serial number/password last year; so this year it won't connect, says it cannot locate data.
When I get into the radar settings and type in the serial number and password, the unit just keeps grinding and finally indicates that the serial number/password are wrong.
I don't know what to do. This system is virtually brand new.

Re-send - ST290 DPU Depth unit on Seatalkng
Hello,
I re-send this post as maybe the old one was not sent.
I have a ST290 DPU, ST290 Graphic Displays, depth transducer connected to a depth POD, etc, connected via seatalk2. There are also a wind and rudder instruments connected to DPU via seatalk.
I have connected a seatalk to seatalkng converter. In the seatalkng network there is an Axiom MFD and two i70s displays. I have all the data in the seatalkng network coming from the seatalk/seatalk2 but there is no way for the Axiom and i7ps displays to show depth units in meters. It's shown in feets and when i try to change it to meters, it's replaced again by feets in a second or two.
Do you know why using meters as depth unit is not working?.
Thanks and regards.

[DG11] ST290 to Seatalkng Depth units
Hello,
I have a ST290 DPU, Graphic displays, transducers, etc. I added a seatalk to seatalkng converter where i have an Axiom and two i70s displays. All seems to work ok (i see all the seatalk data in the seatalkng device) but i can not change depth units from feets to meters in any of the seatalkng devices.
In the ST290 Graphic displays, depth is shown in meters (that's what i want also on seatalkng devices).
Some hint to solve it?.
Thanks and regards.

[DG] "No Pilot" message
We are in Rarotonga, Cook Islands and had to hand steer for a few days when our Raymarine autopilot failed and we had no wind.
ST8002 display head, SPX30 controller. It's worked for flawlessly for 8 years and no changes in wiring other than environmental degradation in heat in South Pacific. Used terminal strips for Seatalk 1 connections. The system has worked until one day it stopped working and displayed the message, "No Pilot", then "Seatalk Failure".
Thinking it might be wiring-related, I used a fresh, out-of-the-package Seatalk cable with 3-pin head on one end and bare wires on the other. I removed the SPX30-to-ST60 Seatalk cable (the one in place all of these years) from the left-hand Seatalk bus on the SPX30. (Right hand bus wiring goes to Seatalk terminal strips.) I replaced it with the new Seatalk cable, directly from the SPX30 to the ST60 but received same message. It's not the wiring since all old wiring was bypassed in this test and the results were the same.
No fault lights show on SPX30. Red power light and 12V light show on SPX30 when it's powered. Display red and shield work since display head is powered. It's that damned yellow wire again, the bane of my life.
There is no reason to think that the SPX30 or display head have suddenly failed, I don't think. I just have no way to test anything else but do need the system to work if possible.
Testing "yellow wire" problems is always difficult since I can't determine if the data is being transmitted. Is there a voltage check for this as there is in the r28170 diagnostics?

[CA11] How to interface (connect) my old NAV/398 GPS to my new VHF Radio
Hi all,
1) I have an old NAV/398 GPS NMEA 0183 version 1 protocol. GPS works fine. Manual shows Yellow data output (+), and Green data output (-).
2) I Just bought a new Standard Horizon Eclipse GX1300 DSC class D VHF Radio NMEA 0183 version 2 protocol. Manual & visual shows Yellow input (+), Green input (-).
3) I want to connect new radio with old GPS with the 2 wires to have Digital Selective Calling. Appears both units are compatible.
4) All my instruments are located on pedestal/console at the helm.
5) I took off the instrument panel that has all the sea talk instruments. I can't reach down far enough to see where the GPS connection terminals are. It's like 3 ft down and hidden with wires.
6) I can see and unplug (unscrew) the GPS input.
7) My Question: How can I splice the two GPS yellow & green wires to my radio yellow and green wires. Remember I only have access where GPS is plug in. I can only reach to a foot to make a connection.
8) So what kind of connectors/splicers can I use to make this work. So when I go to the marine electronics store. The know what I'm talking about?

[CA11] powering quantum
We had a difficult time trying to get Quantum to pair to the axiom screen. The message said no radar detected. I read online to make sure the quantum was turned on first. We assumed that the electronics switch at the helm turned this on. We discovered through process of elimination that the quantum only shut off when the turned the house battery off in the back of the boat. Once we turned that on and off it allowed us to connect to the axiom. Is this the correct way of doing it. It works but seems odd! We have a brand new 2018 boat.
