Devices having SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 communications interfaces are designed to communicate with one another via a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone. Each device having a SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 communications interface should be individually interfaced to the spur socket within the backbone. When interfacing Raymarine MFDs to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, the Data Master MFD must be interfaced as a spur to the backbone. While it is permissible to interface non-Data Master MFDs to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, non-Data Master MFD(s) will not communicate with the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone.
A simple backbone may be constructed from the following components:
- A06064 SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector
- A06031 SeaTalkng Termination Plugs x 2
- A06049 SeaTalkng Power Cable
- a pair of SeaTalkng Spur Cables of appropriate length to interface the two devices having SeaTalkng communications interfaces.
