Wi-Fish vs Navionics Boating App with Dragonfly products
The latest version of the Wi-Fish app now adds the Augmented Reality feature to the fishfinder imagery features which it had previously supported. This new feature, unique to the Wi-Fish app, works with the smartphone/tablet's GPS, compass and camera in your smartphone or tablet to show precisely where you are in relation to your saved waypoints. The name, symbol, bearing and range to each waypoint is displayed as a dynamic overlay on a real-time view of the waterway in front of you (see the screen snapshot below). You can find more information concerning Wi-Fish's Augmented Reality feature here.
The following screen snapshot from the Wi-Fi CHIRP DownVision™ Sonar web page shows a mobile device running the Navionics Boating app, not the Wi-Fish app. Unlike the Wi-Fish app, the Navionics Boating app is designed to display detailed navigational cartography along with fishfinder imagery.
