S-1000 terminology

Hi. I'm interfacing my S1000 auto pilot with 741xs ( Garmin duh, I know ).

Do I connect just the GPS "Text out" to the "+ve in" ,or, to the "-ve in"? The GPS harness does not differentiate between "-" and "+" Tx outs/transmits.
