[CA] Axiom msd card size

My Axiom came with an 8 GB card for the Navionics charts. 8 GB is somewhat small for the sonar map charting that is available from Navionics. What is the largest card I can use in the Axiom 12? Can I use a 32GB card? It would hold a lot more Navionics sonar data and wouldn't require constant updating for long trips.

There is a MOB (man overboard) waypoint on my C80 (classic). The reference manual states that it must be cleared in order to return to normal operation. It does not show up, that I can see, on the waypoint list.

How can I remove the MOB waypoint?

Thank you.

[CA] GPS coordinates lost on Ray50

I have a ray50 vhf, an ES127 chart plotter, and an RS150 GPS installed. Recently, my radio alarms that it has lost the GPS coordinates. After a few minutes, the coordinates are restored. When this happens the coordinates are ok on the chart plotter and there are no other errors. I checked the connections to the radio and they are tight.

What else could I check?

Thanks.

I have an E-120 MFD and a RD218 Radome. I am getting the “no scanner” indication in top left of the display. Is this a familiar issue? Is there a simple solution?

[CA] Testing DMS300

My problem started with a loss of speed and temp from the B744 triducer. This has happened some years ago and I bought a active speed depth insert which I used until the boat was hauled for bottom paint and I put in a new triducer. I installed an active insert paddle wheel this time but still could not get it to work. I have tested the active insert on the bench and it tests good. I have tested continuity of the zip cable running to the DMS 300 and that was ok. Then I checked for voltage at the triducer between the bare and red wire this measured 3.44vdc, this seemed low. This is making me wonder if there is an issue with the Raymarine DMS300. Also the depth function works fine I am just not getting the speed & temp. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

[CA] Can a Es125 and a Gs165 share a radar?

What is (if possible) the correct and best mode to connect both a new Es 125 and a Gs 1`65 share a new 48 mile HD color radar? (so they can see the same radar image) (Also will assume that the radar (power) will need to be on a separate breaker...?)

[CA] A98 network options and temp gauge question

Is it possible to have my (2) A98 units linked for waypoint and brightness sharing only? I am a bass fisherman and have a unit at my console and another on the bow. I do not want to change screens every time I go back and forth. When I go to the bow I have to change transducers and vice versa. Also, my primary A98 (at the console) reads the water temperature from the transducer that is on my trolling motor. So when my trolling motor is up and stowed, I have no temp reading.

MFD Radar app reporting "No Data" - analog radome or analog radar pedestal installed

C/E-Series Classic MFD Radar app reporting "No Data" - analog radome or analog radar pedestal installed

Should the MFD be an E-Series Classic MFD and it not have been updated with v5.69 software, then it would be recommended that the MFD be updated with the latest available Raymarine product software update and that a Factory Reset operation be performed thereafter to correct the issue. Similarly, should the MFD be a C-Series Classic MFD and it not have been updated with v5.16 software, then it would be recommended that the MFD be updated with the latest available Raymarine product software update and that a Factory Reset operation be performed thereafter to correct the issue.

If the MFD is operating with the latest software and a Factory Reset operation had been commanded following the software update, then the reported issue is generally the result of insufficient power being supplied to the radome or open array pedestal. To rule out power, it is recommended that the vessel batteries be load tested. Should the batteries be determined to be in good shape, then it would be recommended that the vessel be connected to shore power, that its batteries be permitted to be fully charged, and that after the vessel's batteries have completed charging and while the vessel is still connected to shore power, that the radome or open array pedestal be tested again.

Should the problem persist when tested in the manner stated above, then it is recommended that the radome or pedestal be opened and that voltage be measured at the radome's or pedestal's power terminals to ensure that the measured voltage is the same as that supplied to the MFD or to the analog radar cable's power leads. Should the measured voltage within the radome or pedestal be as specified above, then it would be recommended that the analog radar cable be tested per the FAQ found here.

Should no fault be found with analog radar cable or power, then the fault would be determined to be within radome or open array pedestal. Unfortunately, Raymarine's Product Repair Center can no longer service radomes and open array pedestals having an analog video interface. Should the MFD be an E-Series Classic MFD, then would be recommended that the radome or open array and its cable be replaced with one of the radomes or open array pedestals specified in the FAQ found here. However, should the MFD be a C-Series Classic MFD, then it would be necessary to upgrade the MFD and radome or pedestal or seek a compatible second hand radome or pedestal.

[CA] Trouble finding replacement for C80 MFD

$

I am trying to replace my C80 MFD and the eS97 9" was recommended to me as a replacement. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the cutout height for the C80 is larger than the overall height of the eS97 9" and no mounting plate is available. I want to use my existing 600W transducer so the eS97 would be an ideal fit for me. I don't have room for a 12" display.

1) is there a mounting plate option for replacing the C80 with a es97 9" that I am not seeing?

2) Assuming that ship has sailed, is there another Raymarine 9" MFD that: (1) I can use my existing 600W transducer with and (2) will fit the C80 cutout (7.53"H x10.4"W) either out of the box or with an available mounting plate?

Thanks,

Dave

[CA] axiom 9 rv to i70s

I have the axiom already, but wish I had gotten the 12. oh well! I'll be installing the rv320's this winter.

Looking at the i70s as a data display playmate to the axiom. This will be large enough to see AND keep it off of my chart.

Rather than me listing what I think, can you give me a parts list to accomplish this as well as the hookup?

Thanks!

Bruce

[CA] Component Compatibility

Is the DTS800 tri-sensor compatible with i70 instrument MFDs and the A-series GPS chart plotters?

And it appears to come with only a 9’ cable. What cable extension do you recommend for longer cable runs.

I upgraded to i70 MFDs about 18 months ago and added a 9” and 12” A-series chart plotter duo about a year ago, all connected through an iTC-5 transducer converter.

Because my older 50-series depth sensor was working fine, I continued to use it for depth soundings, but I’ve been using the AirMar Intelligent Tri sensor that came with the i70 suite for boat speed. Unfortunately, the boat speed transducer is malfunctioning and is no longer detected by the system.

I believe I can replace the Intelligent Tri with a DTS800, discontinue using the older depth sensor, and now start using it for all 3 measures, boat speed, depth, and water temperature. Correct?

Thank you.

New electronics - no mounting plate adapter available

New electronics - no mounting plate adapter available

Should no mounting adapter plate(s) meeting your needs be available when upgrading surface mounted, flush mounted, or back mounted marine electronics, then the electronics mounting surfaces will commonly be resurfaced. Materials used for such resurfacing include, but are not limited plexiglass, aluminum, Starboard, wood, etc.. There are also manufacturers within the marine industry offering custom boat helm panel which have been customized for one's boat, its electronics, gauges, switches, etc.. If seeking such a manufacturer, then it is recommended that you contact a Certified Raymarine Installer or that the Internet be searched for "custom boat helm panel".

cable compatibility between units

I have three dragonfly 5 fishfinders on my boat. Two do not have gps. The third and new one does-- 5 Pro. I bought the 5 pro to use as a stand alone gps unit to replace a garmin gps. I could have bought Dragonfly 5M which is a stand alone gps. But for the money, I now have spare transducer and mounting hardware with the 5-pro. I didn't know the transducer and power cable on the 5-pro are molded into one and cannot be separated. I want to purchase a 5M power cable to use on 5 Pro but don't about compatibility. Any help? Thanks.

Re-using an existing analog radar cable to power a Quantum radome

Re-using an existing analog radar cable to power a Quantum radome

When replacing an existing radome or open array radar pedestal, customers may find it challenging to replace the currently installed radar cable with the power or power/communications cable supplied with the new radar transducer. In such cases, replacing the currently installed radar transducer with a radar transducer supporting Wi-Fi communications can make replacing a radar transducer a much easier task. That said, while Wi-Fi radar transducers do not require a cable for communications communications, they often must either be powered using the power cable which was designed for use with the Wi-Fi radar transducer or must be powered via an adapted power/communications cable (ex. Raymarine offers the A80308 Digital Radar Cable to Quantum Adapter). Should the installer not be desire to chase the Quantum Radome's Power Cable, then it may be possible to splice the cable shielding, power, ground, and drain leads of the Quantum Power Cable to the cable shield and to leads of the currently installed radar cable. While any leads within the currently installed radar cable may be spliced to the power, ground, and drain leads of the Quantum Power Cable, the selected leads within the currently installed radar cable must be feature at least 16 gauge conductors.
